Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

Sorry for AF star Sad remember it's a 3 course treatment - you still have the chance to conceive this way. I know it doesn't make it easier though. WineCake

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 23/06/2016 01:16

So sorry to read Star. Are you staying on the same dosage? Fx for this cycle.

Sorry about your babybomb too Maple - you seem to have had loads recently :( The nurse thing is strange right - she even comes to my house!

I did 3-7 for both cycles so far. I think that's the standard days to take it. This cycle I've only had one decent follicle at 21.5mm on Sunday, today it's probably closer to 24mm. It certainly feels big. I triggered Sunday night and just had the IUI this morning. Dh's sperm count was awesome 119 million post wash!!! One of these must surely find that big fat egg. Unlike last cycle (when I felt ovulation the day before IUI) I don't think I've ovulated yet. Should be today some time. Fingers crossed.

Mrs I find the Clomid symptoms really hard. I've just started the 2ww on cycle two and I found the side effects very hard this cycle. I was really really down, snappy, vivid dreams and hot sweats.

I've had loads of ovulation pains this time too.

Fingers crossed for everyone..

broodypsycho · 30/06/2016 16:03

Hi ladies. Aunt Flo got me this morning after my 2nd round of clomid. Had really good lining and follies so I have no idea why it's just not happening. I've got one more month of clomid but I might have a break this month and take it next month to give my body a rest. Do u think it'll just mess me up though if I do it that way?

Julia2016 · 30/06/2016 16:27

Broody I am considering the same thing if I get AF but I'm not sure it will help the end goal stopping for one month..

broodypsycho · 30/06/2016 17:12

julia you mean you don't think it'll help to get pregnant by stopping? I don't know whether to take it for the 3rd month and then stop and then do IUI in October time Hmm

I think stopping for one month won't be a positive thing, I'm thinking I'm probably aswell keep going. I hate the bloody symptoms. 😔

star1980 · 01/07/2016 13:07

Hi all,
Sorry for absence, I'm trying to stay off mumsnet. However, just popped on to ask maple how your appointment went today - hope it went well. Also Genghis, you must have started with gonal f by now - how's it going?

Sorry for AF broody.bfor what it's worth I don't think there's any harm in taking a cycle off. im thinking of trying iui for the third round of round 2 doesn't work. That said I wonder if I'm just delaying the inevitable and should really move onto IVF more quickly.

Good luck with round 2 snow. Great seem sample and great sized follicle. You have every chance.

Had my day 10 scan this morning and the dr wants me to trigger tomorrow. Two follicles at 14mm and 17mm; lining good. This feels way too early but that's the advice.

Mrs, I take Clomid days 2-6 and have triggered on day 11 both cycles so far. It makes my cycles really short at 25 days. What are your next steps after Clomid if you don't get a bfp? I thought that it should only be taken for six months max?

Girls do you drink while on Clomid? I don't drink much but DH and I are meant to go out tomorrow for a datey type day and I was wondering if I should stay away from it? I have tried to stay normal enough through this process to keep myself from getting all consumed so I've had the odd glass of wine.

What do you think? I'm on 3/4 dpo today.

Snowdog37 · 01/07/2016 14:31

I have drunk on my 2ww Julia. I don't get very drunk but to be honest it's nice to chill with a couple of glasses and be social and distracted. My RE said alcohol in moderation will not do harm during the 2ww. He says too much coffee actually has more potential to harm the process! It's the July 4th celebrations this weekend and I'll be having a few ciders over the long weekend. We can't deprive ourselves of every little thing. Just be sensible but relax and enjoy your date 💗

Star that's similar to the size follies I had last cycle. This time I triggered with one bigger follie at 21.5mm. I poas today to see if the trigger is still in my system at 5dpt3dpiui. It is, but only feint. I had almost no cramping this cycle so I'm worried I didn't ovulate at all but my RE insists that's almost impossible with the trigger shot.

star1980 · 01/07/2016 16:03

Mrs, yes I take it on day 6. So it's five pills per month starting the day after my period starts. Good luck with acupuncture and I hope the spotting is nothing to worry about.
Julia, I drink during the tww as normal. I'm not a heavy drinker at all but 19months is a long time to abstain. Also I read that the embryo doesn't take nutrients from you until the placenta is formed. Mind you, I'm not pregnant after all this time so you might want to take my advice with a healthy pinch of salt!
Snow, I have a good feeling about this cycle for you. Fingers crossed!
Does anyone get a dry/sore vagina (sorry tmi) on Clomid? I am very sore at the moment, I don't think I have an infection as no other symptoms and it's making sex a bit difficult which is a cruel irony if it is the fertility drugs! Anyone else had this?

Snowdog37 · 01/07/2016 16:29

Star I had a big of dryness that made sex uncomfy. I use preseed internally (1/2 of the amount they suggest otherwise you (or dh) will end up flying off the bed lmao) and that helps a lot. I put it in about 20 minutes before we start and it does a great job plus feels good too for both of us. Sorry for the tmi 😳😜😄

Hi all sorry for being rubbish recently. I was on holiday for a few days and then was avoiding MN and Google like star.

Star already pmed you of course but thank you again for asking! I've always been quite dry anyway so I use preseed. I don't insert it though just use it on the outside.. I think I would ask to do IUI next cycle (if this doesn't work) - putting the swimmers straight past the cervix may make a difference.

I have no update on my appointment but feeling better and looking forward to starting! It was just to sign consent forms and info on the IUI. I asked about my spotting and lining (I have very light periods) and she said my lining was thin on CD13 when I had my baseline scan a few months ago and that my progesterone was "high"... Anyway she said when I call on CD1 to mention this again as they may get me in for more scans - presumably to check lining.

Next step is to call a week before AF due to get my prescription of clomid! Only on CD11 at the moment! Getting there though Smile

Mrs I'm sorry the cyclogest hasn't helped with spotting. Did you say they checked for cysts or endo? I'm hoping acupuncture will help with my spotting too...

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 06/07/2016 01:03

Sorry for the silence! Maple I'm so gad your appointment went well - it won't be long coming around!! Also, I hope you had a lovely holiday?

Star I hope the 2ww is going okay for you? All went well with the gonal f - I had no real side effects at all. However, the ovitrelle really knocked my ovaries for six (well it felt like that!) but it was fine, and yesterday I had the insemination. Now to eat pineapple :)

Snow how are you getting on? I hope you enjoyed your 4th July celebrations!

Julia I hope you enjoyed your day! I also drink on the 2ww though I'm currently abstaining as I'm trying to lose a bit of weight.

Broody sorry about af Flowers. Did you make a decision about taking a month off clomid in the end?

Mrs I hope af didn't arrive! Enjoy the acupuncture - I'm quite tempted to start that myself.

maplebaby · 06/07/2016 10:08

Lovely to hear from you genghis was wondering how you were getting on! How did the insemination go? Fingers crossed for tww - I've never tried the pineapple thing, maybe I should.

I'm on CD15 today and for the first time in about a year I've tried ovulation sticks this cycle! I got the horrendously expensive clear blue advanced ones and from CD12 to 14 I had the empty circle but this morning it was solid smiley! I was really chuffed but miffed as to why I didn't get flashing smilies - on the instructions it says might have low oestrogen if no flashing smilies - got me worried now as I have thin lining / light periods too!

star1980 · 06/07/2016 22:13

Hey Genghis, great news about the gonal f. I think I had the same with ovitrelle - my ovary felt so massive! It's the stims I think, and must be much more so with injectables. How was the iui sample? I've read up on the various forms of ovulation induction and you have the very best chance with injectables and iui. Fingers tightly crossed for you!

Well we are tww buddies Genghis as I'm 1dpo today as well. It all went a bit wrong this cycle and I couldn't get hold of ovitrelle before the weekend. So I just got some opks, waited to surge naturally and ovulated last night on cd14. Not holding out much hope this cycle (again) as have had a bit of thrush the last couple of days and don't think that can be very good for sperm!

How's everyone else? Snow, julia, you must be nearly testing?

Snowdog37 · 06/07/2016 22:31

I tested out the trigger today at 8dpiui. I don't feel like anything is happening so I'm mentally prepping for next cycle. I didn't even have ovulation cramps this cycle despite a scan showing one nice big follie. I want to move into injectables as Clomid isn't really doing much for me. I'm only producing 1-2 follies and I really want to have 3-4 for a better chance.
4th July was amazing, loads of good food, I had a few drinks, enjoyed socializing and sunshine. The U.K. should start celebrating it too as independence from the USA 😄

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 07/07/2016 02:53

The celebrations sound great Snow! I'm the opposite to you - because my doctor will only do the IUI if there's max two follicles, I kept crossing my fingers no more would grow! On one of my scans, one of the smaller ones had started growing too but thankfully stopped (or slowed down - I have no idea :))

Star sorry to read about the stress with your trigger - that's the last thing you needed. Great that you could use the opks though, and fx that it will work. Nice to have a 2ww buddy - I have a feeling it will drag so am trying to find things to occupy myself.

Maple There's always something to worry about isn't there!? I've heard that before about the CB monitors though so try not to worry (easy to say I know). I presume you've already had your estradiol levels tested and your doctor was happy? As for the pineapple - it's my first time trying it but thought, why not? Plus it's tasty!

Thanks for the good wishes! The insemination didn't go quite to plan - tmi warning - my doctor couldn't get into my uterus properly at the start. According to him, I have a really forward facing uterus, so he had to pull it back a bit to get in (lovely!) He was like "I've never seen this before" etc etc and I was lying there, legs akimbo, thinking 'Oh great.' Grin Anyway it was fine in the end but he thinks this could be a cause, or at least a definite factor for our infertility. On the positive side, at least he'll know for next time!

maplebaby · 08/07/2016 13:25

Oh no genghis i hope it wasn't too painful all that prodding! I have a backwards tilting uterus but the consultant didn't think it would affect fertility. Hope they don't have the same issue with me!!

Star did your partner not manage to get the trigger in the end?! What a palava!

I think I might be 1dpo today - last natural cycle before IUI! I went to get my prescription just now but the wait was over an hour and I'm on my lunch break so will collect it on my way home. I'll be on 50mg of clomid and then have a trigger called gonasi.

Looking forward to getting started now even though I'm not holding out much hope of it working!

star1980 · 08/07/2016 16:14

I have a backwards tilting womb too! Could this be our problem? Should we be doing headstands after sex to get things in the right place?!

Glad you got through it Genghis, that doesn't sound nice.

Fingers crossed for your last unassisted cycle maple (I'd say Clomid was still 'natural' although I don't really care anymore). You've got a good chance with Clomid/iui, so stay positive!

No, my partner came bacj from kings cross boots empty handed. It turned out they had the version of ovitrelle that's a refill that people on ivf use I think and it was the wrong dose. Oh well, I have ovulated and apparently now eating EVERYTHING Grin

Have lovely weekends ladies.
