Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

Sounds great star! Good luck with the trigger tonight! Fingers crossed for both you and snow for a bfp!

I jumped DH last night at 1am after he came back from a weekend away as I had loads of ewcm on Sunday. Felt a bit bad as I did guilt trip him a bit (he had said no to start with!) but not enough to take no for an answer Grin.

Have my first acupuncture appointment on Wednesday too and need drinking Pom juice which I read helps with lining?!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 07/06/2016 04:02

Great news about the scan Star, and good luck with the trigger. It must have been very reassuring to hear your Dr. talking about the timings - it's so easy to wind yourself up and overthink in these situations.

I really hope the 2ww flies in for you Snow, and that you start feeling better.

Good work on dtd Maple...I'm a fellow guilt-tripper too Smile. Enjoy the acupuncture - so many people seem to enjoy it and find it beneficial.

No news from me, CD20 so just waiting for time to pass...

maplebaby · 07/06/2016 10:31

Genghis were you going to start mid June? Not long now then!

star1980 · 07/06/2016 13:18

Genghis, are you starting gonal f at the beginning of your next cycle? If you don't get a bfp that is. When will that be? My cycles are only 26-28 days so quite short which keeps the waiting down a bit.

Had my trigger this morning. Hurt a tiny bit, like a pinch but otherwise straightforward. My partner did it in the end - I'm not scared of needles, but couldn't quite bring myself to stab myself! Will have to get over that if it comes to IVF. No symptoms at all so far but it's only been a few hours I guess.

Well done on the late night ttc sex maple, and with your father in-law in the next room?! Needs must and all that - I'm sure he coped! Enjoy the acupuncture. I did a few sessions at the beginning of the year, but stopped when we were diagnosed with male factor and OH wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. We were also prescribed very expensive Chinese tea which was foul. It was probably doing some good but I couldn't get it down!

maplebaby · 07/06/2016 13:44

Haha I know! But so glad we did because no ewcm since! Well, I did have a little bit of clear cm which was very slightly stretchy but not much. But I've been temping for the first time this month and not really seeing a dip/rise to coincide with the ewcm... Hmmm.

Feeling a bit woe is me today (well, just now)! One of my oldest friends has just had a baby (she got pregnant first month off the pill) and she knows our situation but not in a lot of detail. Just that we have been trying ages but she doesn't know about being referred etc. She was very kind about it at the time when we spoke about it (when she had just announced pregnancy). In a big whatsapp group with her and she put up photos. Obviously you would want to when you've just had a baby and i don't mind really but felt a bit Sad feel bad as she isn't even a prolific face booker so hasn't put any photos up herself (she gets tagged in them by others) and so it's not like she's making a big song and dance about it!

maplebaby · 07/06/2016 13:45

Sorry that was such a me me me post!

Star I'm glad the trigger wasn't too bad - I think I would get DH to do mine too! Good luck with the TTC sex!! Really hope it works and the tww doesn't drive you mad!

Julia2016 · 07/06/2016 14:38

Hi girls, I'll join in if that's ok. I was on one of the normal buses but I don't think it's fair on the others given I am on Clomid. I'm on it for late ovulation and short luteal phase. I'm 36, ttc # 2.

Anyhow I am at the end of the 2ww after my first month on Clomid. I ovulated this month on day 18 as opposed to day 19 without Clomid, still not great though so I don't hold out much hope for this month. I had the day 21 blood test, I definitely ovulated and my progesterone levels were high so all good there. Due my AF today if my cycle length is still 29 days.

I use the Clearblue ovulation tests, I find them good. I'm taking high dose vitamin B also to help progesterone levels.

Have you noticed your cycle length increase and do you get constipation on Clomid? I've had severe constipation since I ovulated.

star1980 · 07/06/2016 18:04

Maple, so sorry you're feeling down. The blues can just creep up on you on this horrible journey and when close friends get pregnant and have babies, it's just the worst. You're happy for them but sad for you and it's really hard to put a brave face on it. I totally understand what it's like. Two of my very best friends are pregnant right now and quite deliberately I've barely seen them since I found out - it's just too difficult. Just know that you have a place here to rant and moan and we'll understand and then in real life you can try and be as happy as you can for them. Although in my experience, good friends do understand if you're a little sad at their happy news (if you explain).

Welcome to our little thread julia. Oooh exciting times coming to the end of the tww. Are you going to test or wait it out a few more days? I'm on my first cycle and haven't ovulated yet so don't know what my clomid cycle length will be. I'm temping to pin point ovulation and taking a trigger to bring it on so not using pee sticks - I can't bear them! I have had no symptoms at all from clomid and I stopped the pills 5 days ago, but I was only on 50mg. How long were you trying before starting clomid? Did you use it for your first as well?

maplebaby · 07/06/2016 19:42

Welcome Julia not long for you to find out! I'm afraid I haven't started yet! Likely end of July and probably start off on 50mg though. Not sure if I will trigger (I hope I do) and then IUI for me.

Thank you star really appreciate it - she's my first closest friend to have one recently (all my baby bombs have been at work and FB). My other friend has a little one but he came before we started trying. I am happy for her and obviously sent a card and congratulations etc weird to think if I got pregnant first cycle I would have a 7 month old now! I'm actually a long time lurker of mumsnet but was always scared to join a thread incase I became an instadiffer and annoyed everyone!! In the end took a chance and so glad I did!!

Julia2016 · 07/06/2016 20:36

Hi Star, I won't test for a few days, I'm not sure if my cycle automatically lengthens with Clomid. I'm on day 29 today which is my normal cycle length. I don't feel pregnant though.

I conceived dd1 on our first try a few years ago without any Clomid. We have been trying for six months before I went to the doctor. I'm 36 so my gp didn't want to waste anymore time and especially when I'd tracked that I was ovulating late and not getting a decent luteal phase.

Maple it can be very hard when everyone is having babies around you. I was lucky with having dd1 so personally it hasn't upset me, but my SIL has unexplained infertility and my heart aches for her everytime one of her friends has a baby.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 07/06/2016 23:54

Welcome Julia - I'm impressed with your restraint at not testing! Here's to hoping AF stays away Wine

Star I'm glad the trigger wasn't too bad. Enjoy dtd, and I also hope the 2ww doesn't drag too much. Did your doctor give you a testing date, or anything like that? I'm afraid there'll be no surprise bfp for me this month as DP has been away. AF is due next Thurs/Fri so will start the gonal f five days later. I'm just to contact them on cd1 so they can write the prescription, organise dildocam appointments and the irrational side of me is sure something will go wrong, like sorry the doctor's away on holidays, there's been a worldwide shortage of needles so it can't be done this month or something like that. Hopefully that doesn't happen!

Maple sorry you are feeling down - it's just crap isn't it? I find it definitely harder when it's someone close. My sil instadiffed and they told me cheerily faced over skype - I couldn't get off the call fast enough. I really cried at that one, out of self pity and also for feeling like such a cow when I should have just been happy for them. I've also found that I've started categorising people into pregnancy announcement imminent/potentially moving towards pregnancy etc etc. For me it kind of helps when the announcement does come. Anyway, I hope you're feeling a bit better, and at least you have an appointment coming up soon.

Sorry this was so long!

maplebaby · 08/06/2016 20:56

Thanks genghis feel better today! Had my first acupuncture session - she was really nice and said I have a spleen deficiency so worked on that. Felt a bit odd. Actually a bit painful but in a weird throbbing way! But not unbearable - think it will take time to get used to!

Snowdog37 · 08/06/2016 21:18

I'm 6dpiui and spotted a bit this afternoon and I have mild af cramps and feel gross down there like af is due any minute. Sorry for tmi 😖 It's too early for anything like implantation?! Has Clomid messed my body up? Or could it be implantation ? I don't want to get excited. But wth with pink spotting?! Af is due in a week. Ugh. Let the rollercoaster begin!!!!

OP posts:
Snowdog37 · 08/06/2016 21:26

Maple I've had acupuncture and cupping, I loved both. My qi must have been constipated because after my first session of both I felt so loose and relaxed and free flowing if you see what I mean. It's expensive here but I'm trying to get acupuncture every 2-3 weeks for an hour. Totally worth it even for the relaxation aspect.

OP posts:
maplebaby · 08/06/2016 22:17

Has the spotting stopped now snow?? It does sound like implantation but have no experience - hoping it is!! When is test day?

Yeh acupuncture is expensive here for me too so although she said "see you next week" I booked in for 2 weeks time. Can't afford to go weekly!!

Snowdog37 · 08/06/2016 22:59

Yep it's stopped. It was literally a 50p size amount of pink spotting on a panty liner and pinkish when I wiped the last two times I peed. Still cramping a little and have that heavy pre af gross feeling. But it's way way too early for af. Test day is next Thursday (that's the official beta) but I think I'll test on Monday or Tuesday. Or Saturday before that. Lol.

star1980 · 09/06/2016 08:39

So the tww starts! Definitely ovulated last night. Temp shot up this morning and my right ovary was making itself very well known - it's so weird to be able to pinpoint ovulation to almost the hour. Last night's sex effort was a bit laboured - it took three goes cos of performance anxiety! Couldn't believe it! Anyway, glad we got there in the end, now I just have to try and forget about it all. I'm usually fine at not even thinking about it, but now ive had treatment it's gonna be a struggle. The odds are very slim that it'll work first time, must try to remember that.

maple, glad the acupuncture went well. If nothing else it should relax you, but I do think it helps with blood flow etc so definitely worth the money. Here's hoping you get your bfp before trying iui - if not, at least you have a plan and it's not long to wait. Glad you're feeling a bit better about the friend pregnancies too Smile

Thanks Genghis. No, no test date for me just an instruction to "have regular intercourse and keep your fingers crossed for a pregnancy". I never test early - and my period always turns up right on cue so in 19 months trying I've only ever taken one test and that was just to see what a pregnancy test was like (I know Hmm) - the negative was so depressing I couldn't stop crying so ive never done it again!
Anyway, I can give you a cast iron guarantee that none of those nightmare scenarios will mean you don't start gonal f on time. I saw a super sweet thread in infertility the other week where someone's husband had thrown out her needles and loads of women offered to send her their spares through the post. So you're totally covered!!

Hope it's implantation for you snow. I wouldn't say it's too early - they say between 6 and 10dpo don't they?

Ooh that was quite a post. I'm on the train to Birmingham for work so up early and not much to do (except prepare my presentation!)

maplebaby · 09/06/2016 08:49

Got my fingers crossed for you star! I've never been able to pinpoint ovulation and acupuncturist didn't sound convinced I was - really need to find out my progesterone results as they're the only ones I don't know!

Good effort on the sex front, mine doesn't get performance anxiety but it must be so hard for them to on demand. Hope your DH doesn't get too upset about it?

I don't ever test too! Mainly because I spot before so even if AF is late if I have spotting I know it's coming so don't bother. I think I've done a couple over the last 16 months but hate seeing the stark white!!

Good luck with the presentation!

star1980 · 09/06/2016 08:58

Mine never does either maplejust when the stakes are really high, like 36hrs after a trigger shot!

So what tests have you had? You may have said on the other thread but I can't remember. Do you temp? In some ways, if you're not ovulating that can actually be quite a simple problem to fix and for lots of people clomid does the job.

Julia2016 · 09/06/2016 09:31

Hi girls, I'm on CD32, no sign of AF. Lower back pain but a BNF yesterday. I presume my cycle has lengthened from 29 days to later with the Clomid.

I don't feel pregnant and I'm just waiting for AF to show up now so I can start month 2.

I'm a bit down with the BNF, I don't want to go on at DH about it because I don't want to upset him. I'll shake myself in a few hours.

Fingers crossed for everyone else.

star1980 · 09/06/2016 09:55

What dpo are you though Julia? It might be too early for a positive.

Julia2016 · 09/06/2016 10:14

I got an ovulation smiley on CD18, so I am estimating I ovulated on CD19, so that would be DPO13, if I ovulated on CD20 then I'm on DP12. Surely though implantation would have happened by now. Plus my boobs don't feel different, my appetite is gone bonkers but that could be pre AF. I remember on DD1 I just knew I was pregnant and the pregnancy test was just a formality, I wish I could remember how I knew!

maplebaby · 09/06/2016 11:49

Star I've had all the bloods and Hycosy:

AFC - 17
AMH - 15
FSH - 4.3
LH - 3.4
E2 - 92

Just need to get my progesterone results. Consultant did say I had ovulated though (but first set with GP they didn't think I had).

DH had 2 SA, one came back a bit low on morphology but second normal - again I don't have the results written down.

Hycosy all normal, tilted womb but that's it!

Hoping the clomid will help when I go through IUI! And really hope I get to trigger as opposed to letting it happen naturally!

star1980 · 09/06/2016 22:52

julia you're probably right, but truth is you're not out til your period arrives. Not wanting to get your hopes up because yes implantation should have happened by now but maybe your levels aren't high enough yet to be detected. Although they do say that Clomid can lengthen your cycle. Fingers crossed for you.

maple they're a good set of results. Did you have your progesterone done 7dpo? Or I guess 7 days after you think you should ovulate? If you can get the hang of temping and use fertility friend then I think you should be able to work it out. But yes, chase them for the results. Or will you get them on the 1st?

star1980 · 09/06/2016 22:53

Oh, and I can't imagine them doing iui without a trigger - it would be such a waste of all that sperm washing if the timid wasn't spot on. I'm excited for you to get going!
