First time TTC - join me on this journey

Hi all, this is my first time TTC and would be grateful for anyone else who wants to join this journey with me until I get a BFP.

I have been using the Period Diary app to track my ovulation/fertility dates. I have a period that lasts 6 days and usually my cycle is approx 27days. According to the app my ovulation date was yesterday (13th Feb). We have tried twice before this date.

Wondering if there are any others which have had successful pregnancies using solely apps? Or if they have any tips on identifying ovulation?

Would love to share the highs and lows with you lovely people on this journey x

Hi mrsmarsch
TTC does strange things to a girl! The topic of cervical mucus has become commonplace in our household, much to my DH's annoyance! If only it was easy and glanorous!

FFS. AF held off just long enough for us to get optimistic then decides to show up on sodding Mother's Day. At least my uterus appears to have a sense of humour..... Hmm

Darn it GinIsIn - definitely a great excuse to have some wine ;)

Thanks nish - have decided to sack off the diet and make a Sunday roast, Apple crumble, and LOTS of wine tonight!!

Next month will be the month for all of us!

That sounds so yummy - I'm envious of you lol. I unfortunately made a New Years resolution to not have any alcohol (what was I thinking? Lol) but here I am sitting with my husband and he's having a lovely glass of rose and there's me with my soda water and robinsons cordial ;(

Hi girls, would it be ok if I joined the thread? I'm 32 and have been ttc for 7 months now... It would be really nice to have some company to share the journey with! I got married last year and so I naturally feel now is the right time for us to start a family, but in truth, and very naively, I really never thought it would take me this long to fall preggers! Is that redonkulous?? X

Blondie0912 · 07/03/2016 09:13

Bellini I love your username- one of my favorite drinks!!!!!!!! Go knows we could use a few of those during this process Wink. I never thought it would take long at all either!!! It's ok though- it will happen when it's meant to happen right? Grin I'm now just starting my 2ww... It's gonna be a loooong 2 weeks I think!!!!

Bellini239 · 07/03/2016 11:25

Hi Blondie, thanks, I love your username too! Grin how long have you been trying for? I agree, I think I've naturally just reached that point of when it's meant to be it will be! It's strange sometimes it bothers me more than others that I'm not pregnant yet, do you know what I mean? Yeah, the 2 week wait can seem to drag on forever! You never know this may be the month! X

cakesandphotos · 07/03/2016 22:32

I'm on CD 22 and I've had some spotting today. I have no idea of I've ovulated, my OPKs are crap and I didn't think to chart my cm until half way through. I'm trying not to get my hopes up that it's implantation bleeding… it could be ovulation spotting. Wouldn't it be easier if you toe nail turned orange when you were ovulating and then there would be no doubt!!

Blondie0912 · 12/03/2016 18:20

How is everyone doing? I'm about halfway through the 2ww and absolutely no symptoms so pretty sure it's not happening this month! Bummer- but maybe April is our month Smile

EveWebster · 12/03/2016 19:18

Can I join as well? I also never thought I'd have children but after reaching 30 recently, I can't think of anything else but ttc. I also feel like things at work aren't important any more. All I want is to start a family.

Blondie0912 · 12/03/2016 19:38

Hey Eve! Welcome Grin I am exactly the same- can't think about anything else at the moment! And it seems like every single person I know is pregnant right now... never thought I'd care but I'm super jealous of everyone who is expecting! It's quite nice having this as I don't want to tell anyone we're trying since we don't want the pressure! Confused

Bellini239 · 12/03/2016 20:04

Hi Blondie and Eve! How's it going? I'm starting to get cheesed off with how long it is taking me to fall pregnant... I'm completely agree Eve: I was always so focused on my career before, but since I've started trying for a bubba, I can't think about anything else. The other night in bed I just started crying about it all... It's funny because a year ago, I wasn't even that bothered about having kids. And people tell me oh just don't think about it and it'll happen.... Sigh... And for me, it's always there at the back of my mind kinda eating away at me ..... Xx

EveWebster · 12/03/2016 20:52

Hi Bellini and Blondie. It is nice to know that I'm not alone. I'm probably further behind than everyone. I only came of cerelle in December and now doing the three months folic acid tablets before I try properly. I'm doing anything for a healthy baby.

Blondie0912 · 12/03/2016 21:29

Bellini it sounds like you're just as impatient as me! I went off the pill in July, and we were hoping we would have had an "accident" by now but it's a lot harder than I realised! Work has been my main priority for a while, and it still is, but can't wait until it's not!!!! Smile

Bellini239 · 12/03/2016 22:07

Hi Blondie, oh my gosh tell me about it lol!! I can't wait to be on maternity leave having coffee with all my mum friends, and taking my future bubba to the park for a walk! I live in London too, so there are so many cool things to do on maternity leave: there is this really cool cinema where you can take your baby and watch movies and it's for mums with babies only screenings. Probably TMI but I ovulated on Tuesday so the Dh comes home from work and is like ohhh what we need to have sex again, I'm so tired! ..... I was like whaaaaaaaat???? I don't think so... Cue argument!! So I'm considering having an IUI in June, have you thought about having one? Feel free to DM more if you need someone to chat/whinge with/to!!!! X

Blondie0912 · 12/03/2016 22:18

Omg I'm totally with you! I'm in London too (North London!) but totally didn't realise there were all the cool things to do on maternity leave! I'm based at Canary Wharf right now and I can't wait to stop being a "city girl"!! I OV'ed this week too and I was making DH do it every other day for like 2 weeks just to be sure... He was literally dying this week! Lol so funny how you think they'd be up for it all the time but they get tired too! Haha!

Bellini239 · 12/03/2016 22:56

Hi Blondie, lol I agree, I think it's just because it has to be so regimented it becomes a chore quickly lol. I live quite near Leytonstone in east London, sooo many cool things to do on maternity leave.... Maybe if we get preggers at the same time, we can do some of the cool baby activities together. Recently I've even been thinking of going to see this fertility astrologer in Walthamstow, is that absolutely redonkulous???!

Fuzzinmybrain · 13/03/2016 07:07

Hello everyone!

I'm very new to this and it would be nice to read others going through the same experiences in the lead up to a BFP (hopefully)!

I'm 27 and TTC since last month. I'm currently on CD 34 and still no sign of AF, and no symptoms! After 3 BFNs I decided to stop testing and patiently wait for AF... I came off the pill just last month, had a withdrawal bleed, but think being on birth control since age 15 has messed up my body! Angry

EveWebster · 13/03/2016 08:46

I'm definitely behind, as I don't know what some of the acronyms mean. I'm off to research them.Confused

Blondie0912 · 13/03/2016 09:30

Haha Eve I'm still getting used to them too! Hey fuzz- I'm 27 too! I also felt the same about BC pills- my GP says it's a myth that it messes you up but I felt really sick and gross when I first went off, which is apparently normal, but it made me think I'll never go back on!

Bellini239 · 13/03/2016 10:17

Hey Eve, on mumsnet there is a list of all the acronyms to decode if you need to.... Fuzz: yeah I'm sure it make take a small while for your body to regulate after the pills. I'm thinking about booking a babymakation with the Dh today, apparently they help!

EveWebster · 13/03/2016 11:16

Glad that it is on here, so I can understand what you are all talking about Smile

I still haven't got round to my normal cycle since coming off BC pills (at least I know that one Grin) just before Christmas last year. My periods last about a week when they used to last 4 or 5 days. But I have been on BC for about 5 years. Did you all take folic acid tablets before you started trying?

Bellini239 · 13/03/2016 13:26

Hi eve, do you know if you're ovulating or not? Yes, my gynaecologist recommended me to actually take a daily prenatal vitamin as soon as we started trying which contains the recommended daily folic acid dose. I use the pregnacare brand and they contain lots of various things! X

Blondie0912 · 13/03/2016 14:25

Yea I've been taking the seven seas brand- my GP also said it was a good idea! It was on offer when I bought it but I think I'm gonna switch to pregnacare when I run out because I've heard that's the best Grin
