First time TTC - join me on this journey

Hi all, this is my first time TTC and would be grateful for anyone else who wants to join this journey with me until I get a BFP.

I have been using the Period Diary app to track my ovulation/fertility dates. I have a period that lasts 6 days and usually my cycle is approx 27days. According to the app my ovulation date was yesterday (13th Feb). We have tried twice before this date.

Wondering if there are any others which have had successful pregnancies using solely apps? Or if they have any tips on identifying ovulation?

Would love to share the highs and lows with you lovely people on this journey x

28!

I didn't have much of a bucket list, although I reaaaaaally would like to get to New York this year, and have a last lovely holiday just us - fingers crossed. What's on your list?

I have a postbaby bucket list: Work towards something I actually want to do closer to home, I hate my job Grin

nataliefruit · 18/02/2016 13:49

Ooh, Zeetea new York is so fab we went there for our honeymoon! When I first told the hubby that I wanted kids we sat & drew up a list but have actually we've realised we can do all those things with a kiddy & share the experience.

Having said that we have booked 1 thing pre baby & that's a holiday to Tokyo, Japan which is somewhere we've always wanted to go. So excited, like you say last lovely holiday just us.

What job do you do now? You sound exactly like i was a couple of years ago with your job! Finally found something i quite enjoy & is pretty child friendly too which is handy. Do you have an idea of what you'd like to do?

nishp13 · 18/02/2016 14:02

I'm 31 iwillbemrsminty. Today I've had some mild AF like dull pain in the abdomen area and also have a dry throat. The dry throat is most likely due to the cold weather but will keep you updated on any other symptoms x

I felt a bit nosy asking how old you all are!!
Thank you Natalie I was hoping it would return to something like normal but you never just know do you. I've been on pill since I was 18 but had a 2 year break when I changed to the implant instead. Then back on the pill when the implant started causing random bleeding every day! I had my implant out at the beginning of Nov last year and went straight back on the pill and came off it ttc early January.

Zeeta and Natalie I haven't got a list either really, but DP and I would definitely like to travel to Australia at some point as we both have rellies out there and I would love also to go to New York.

Nish I've got a dry throat too at the mo and AF is generally not helping. Think we need some Cake!

iwillbemrsminty · 18/02/2016 14:36

Sorry Zeetea I missed the A off your name. Blush

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 18/02/2016 15:00

Hi all,
Please can I join in?!
I'm 27 and TTC #1. I have wanted children for a while but wanted to sort my career beforehand. So my partner and I have agreed to properly start trying next month and now (like you lot) feel petrified, think it's mainly down to some of the horror stories you hear.
I have my fingers crossed for you all and looking forward to hearing about all of your BFPs :) xx

zeetea · 18/02/2016 15:09

Hi sugarplum!

I have decided to stay away from any threads containing what might be relating to negative experiences - people tend to write more about the bad than the good, and I'm worried enough as it is! I've also read a few where everyone had a seemingly smooth ride, so I've left it at that - may we all have awesome pregnancies and births Flowers

No worries Minty!
Just answering phones and filing at the moment - so... pointless? Not really sure what I'd like to do, but v active and into food so maybe doing something within the nutrition field might be up my street, I know a child nutritionist and they love it!

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 18/02/2016 15:39

I think you're right Zeetea - if we want children then we have no choice but to experience it ourselves Smile I'm sure we will be fine!!
I agree with previous posts though that all our life it is drummed into us not to get pregnant and now we want to get pregnant it's proving to be a tad harder than I originally expected!
How exciting for us all though xx

cakesandphotos · 18/02/2016 15:46

I'm try #1 I'm 26 (27 on Tuesday) we're hoping for a super quick conception because I have RA and being off mess is hideous! We want a holiday too! Probably just to France though Smile

nishp13 · 18/02/2016 16:17

Hey in terms of keeping fit, I joined upto the Nhs couch to 5k & also track what I'm eating, I've lost half a stone in 5 weeks which I'm really proud of :) plus I did not find it too difficult. I'm going to keep at it until I get the all important BFP.

I've had a bucket list of things for as long as I can remember & the list keeps on growing. We've put off having a baby to try & tick some of the things off but have realised having a baby is much more important to us & we could still do some of the things with a baby & as a family, therefore he we are TTC.

It's definitely best to keep positive, as positiveness attracts positive things ;)

Welcome sugarplums ;)

Oh that's good nishp13. I joined slimming world about 6 weeks ago - my BMI is within the 'healthy' range but more towards the higher end of the scale so I thought losing a bit of weight may help my chances. Keep meaning to join the gym but when it comes to it I find excuses lol!
We could all have 2016 babies if we're lucky Smile xx

nishp13 · 18/02/2016 17:29

Eeek sugarplum and a baby in time for Xmas ;) hopefully (fingers crossed for all of you).

I'm the same within my bmi but again towards the higher end...I got myself a treadmill so I don't have to face the gym - it's ideal ;)

I'm 27 & run my own business dog walking and pet sitting. Great for keeping fit Grin

Hi Ladies,
On Saturday just gone in the evening I experienced stitch like pains on the left side, they lasted for approx 2 hours or so. I'm hoping this is implantation cramping (fingers crossed). Sunday I did not really experience anything but today this afternoon around 2pm I had cramps similar to when I'm due to get my AF.

I'm 9dpo and still have 8 days till AF is due. I decided to test on Saturday afternoon (this is before I had the "implantation pain", I guess I was just to eager & as expected got a BFN.

I just feel pregnant, different, can't pinpoint it but it's a strange feeling.

I've ordered some cheap testers from Internet & may test again in a few days time. I've read that some people test BFP 2-3 days after implantation.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sending baby dust to you all too. X

Hi nishp13,
I really hope it's good news for you!
Sometimes you can feel a dull ache as an egg is released but if you're due AF in a week then perhaps it would be a bit late for that.
Fingers crossed for you, let us know :)
XxXxX

nishp13 · 22/02/2016 22:19

Thanks SugarPlum, I had the feeling of ovulation on the 13th Feb which was a very similar stitch like feeling....will keep you posted. Sending baby dust your way x

nishp13 · 23/02/2016 20:10

I carried out a clear blue test this morning. Still early but couldn't resist and got a BFN. Will try with the internet cheapies in a couple of days at around 12dpo.

Am I too late to join? I'm 33 and we are TTC#1 after stopping the pill in the new year. Haven't really got a handle on my cycles yet and am trying Glow and Ovia which keep giving me completely different results.... Hmm

I completely agree with what PPs said about it being scary but not wanting to not have children - that's just how I feel!

nishp13 · 23/02/2016 20:39

Hey GinIsIn - not at all. We're here to share our journey highs and lows and any symptoms to help others. Xxx

Hi all! How is everyone today? I had stitch like pain in my left side this morning for hours which is odd as I wouldn't imagine I'd be ovulating having only had my pill withdrawal bleed last week? It's gone now anyway so just waiting to see how my cycles settle after the pill. Been on it so long I totally can't remember what they were like before. Went and bought some pre pregnancy vitamins at the weekend so that was exciting but a little scary Grin

I absolutely know it's what I want now though because a girl I work with announced she's pregnant today and I was so thrilled for her but also really really jealous!!! Just counting down the weeks now :)

nishp13 · 23/02/2016 21:13

That's great Natalie. I had similar stitch like pains in my left side for what I think we ovulation and then also for implantation. Just impatiently waiting for next week when AF is due (hopefully it won't show up).

OP posts:
nataliefruit · 23/02/2016 21:59

Ooh, fingers crossed for you nishp. I just didn't think I'd ovulate this quickly after coming off the pill - fab if it is tho!! Grin

raddersmrs · 24/02/2016 15:54

Can I please Join?
I'm 28, 29 in April, and will be ttc #1

I came off the pill beginning of the month, had withdrawal bleed and now anxiously waiting to see if AF comes on Friday so I can see if my cycles will be normal.

My boyfriend ideally wants to start trying so we would have a baby next year rather than this year which means if my period comes Friday, we would have to wait until May... It feels like forever away!
I keep planting the seed to maybe try in March as then it will be a November/early December baby rather than a Christmas baby... I think the seed is growing.
Two of his cousins have announced they are pregnant this week ... Jealous!

I know it's what I want but I also feel really scared and question it! Anyone else like that? Really excited at same time!

I'm using ovia to track things. I did some OPKs this month just to see if I was ovulating first month round. I already have pregnancy tests at the ready as got them when I bought the opks on the net... Can't wait to use them :)

nishp13 · 24/02/2016 16:07

Hi Raddersmrs welcome ;)

Let's hope he agrees and you can start sooner. I'm definitely hoping for a 2016 baby ;)

I also feel super excited but anxious and the same time. I'm ready to be a mum and have been wanting children for a long time but have just had other things I wanted to tick off the list. Still have a few more but I'm thinking those can wait as time is ticking and we want more than one child.

Look forward to hearing your progress through this journey and sharing your experiences and symptoms.

Hey ladies I could not resist and carried out another test Eeek ;( i know I know I'm just getting too silly now but I just couldn't help myself lol. Sadly a BFN but not losing hope. AF is due next week so I'm still too early to be testing.

I have had no symptoms over the last few days so not sure what's going and...now wondering if the previous symptoms Wee in my head or not?!

Time will tell....
