Hi all, this is my first time TTC and would be grateful for anyone else who wants to join this journey with me until I get a BFP.

I have been using the Period Diary app to track my ovulation/fertility dates. I have a period that lasts 6 days and usually my cycle is approx 27days. According to the app my ovulation date was yesterday (13th Feb). We have tried twice before this date.

Wondering if there are any others which have had successful pregnancies using solely apps? Or if they have any tips on identifying ovulation?

Would love to share the highs and lows with you lovely people on this journey x

Does anyone have an eating plan for while they're TTC? I eat like a child most of the time, avoiding fruit and eating as much chocolate as possible! Fortunately I have a fast metabolism but I have a feeling if I carry on, it's going to get me eventually Wink
I've started eating more veg and cutting down on sweet things. What are other people eating while TTC?

nishp13 · 24/02/2016 16:13

Forgot to mentions Raddersmrs it may be worth taking prenatal vitamins now too. Me and my husband take Vitabiotics his and hers pre conception tablets ;)

Have been taking them for few months now x

Hey cakesandphotos I've been eating more green: spinach, broccoli and also sweet potato, eggs for protein. Pulses and wholemeal foods like: pasta/bread.

I've completely cut out caffeine I.e coffee and also cut out fizzy drinks and instead have peppermint tea which is yummy.

I've also cut down on chocolates and sweet foods. I only have chocolate once a week as a treat. I've also been trying to loose weight and in the last 6 weeks I've lost 10lb.

I did this by using my fitness pal app and Nhs couch to 5k.

Nishhp thanks for the advice. I've been taking vitamins for couple of months now. Folic acid, vitamin b6, vitamin d, evening primrose and omega 6! I'm rattling when I walk.

I too have cut out caffeine. Not completely but tea coffee ... I never drank much anyway. I have lots of peppermint and fruit tea too! It is nice.

I'm trying to eat healthier meals with lots of vegetables but we love chocolate so much I'm struggling to cut down.
I have a healthy BMI but know I could be waaaay healthier. I don't drink alcohol at all though and hardly any fizzy drinks - so I tell myself I can afford to treat myself to some chocolate! :)

I'm concerned about the exercise as I'm not the most active and trying to do squats as apparently that helps with labour. Also pelvic floor exercises so I don't lose it after giving birth.
I need to start trying to build some sort of muscles in my tummy too.

So much to think about over and above the sperm meeting the egg heh!!

cakesandphotos · 25/02/2016 08:36

Thanks for that guys :) I did what was probably my healthiest every shop yesterday! Not a biscuit in sight (of course last week I couldn't resist the buy 2 get 2 free on the Easter eggs so I can't be too smug!)
I need to exercise more too which is tricky with my RA but walking is good.

I don't think I ever realised how complicated it is!

raddersmrs · 26/02/2016 08:33

So it's Friday and my first af after the pill is due today and I'm already worried it's not here... What if it takes ages?!

The seed is definitely growing with OH and hopefully will be trying for a late November baby ... If AF shows!

cakesandphotos · 26/02/2016 09:15

Don't worry radders :) AF will arrive when your body is ready. Even if it doesn't arrive today that doesn't mean it won't in the next few days

Hey ladies need your help - can anyone see a faint line on either of these tests? Or am I going mad lol

I think I see a very faint line in the bottom one

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 26/02/2016 10:15

Maybe slightly. Have you tried the cheap ones from eBay? They seem to give an early positive reading.
Fingers crossed for you xx

nishp13 · 26/02/2016 10:30

Thanks cakesandphotos and littlemisssugarplum.

I ordered some from Amazon they should be here today so will test again with those ones. I saw a faint line on the bottom one too but ever so slightly and then I thought I was imagining it.

Will keep you posted thanks again xxx

Good luck nishp!

raddersmrs · 26/02/2016 11:06

I can't see anything on the top but a slight one on the bottom.

Fingers crossed! Smilekeep us posted x

cakesandphotos · 27/02/2016 10:31

Have you tested again nishp?

nishp13 · 27/02/2016 10:44

Hi cakesandphotos I tested again using Internet cheapies from Amazon and they came back negative :( I'm wondering if I should get a clear blue or first response test. I've had AF type dull aches and cramping yesterday and today I feel nothing so far...AF is due to arrive on Monday. I may pick up some more tests and see how I get on...I just keep feeling that AF is going to show up ;(

cakesandphotos · 28/02/2016 10:04

I'm sorry nishp Sad at least if AF is due tomorrow you don't have long to wait and see. It could be that you tested too early, you could still get your bfp!
I got some frer tests from Amazon for about £4. I haven't tested them out yet but the reviews were very good

nishp13 · 28/02/2016 10:52

Hey cakesandphotos I tested again this morning with a FRER but still BFN. I really thought my AF was here yesterday I kept dashing to the bathroom to check. No sign yet - I guess it's not over until it shows. I've decided I'm not going to test now until a day or two after AF due date & she what happens x

Blondie0912 · 28/02/2016 12:13

Hi all- can I join? Been watching this thread too shy to comment Blush but reading everything here is making me super excited! I'm 27; husband is 30- and we're ttc #1. I came off the pill in July but it took about 4 months until I had my AF (was convinced I was pregnant the whole time!). Now that cycles have normalised we've decided to properly start trying from this month. I can already tell it's way harder than they make out when you're at school!!!

I hope we all have 2016 miracles Grin

cakesandphotos · 28/02/2016 12:21

Hi blondie welcome!

I know! They totally gave us the impression at school that if we DTD we would definitely get pregnant (and die if you're a Mean Girls fan!) but lo and behold it's not quite so simple as that.
I had it all planned out, I would get pregnant late January/early February to have a nice September/October baby. Of course we only started TTC 2 weeks ago and it's almost March so that's out the window!

nishp13 · 28/02/2016 14:20

Hey ladies I think AF has arrived :( think in out for a November Baby. Until next time...

Oh nish Flowers Next month is a new month, and think how lovely a Christmas baby might be instead!

cakesandphotos · 28/02/2016 21:05

I'm sorry nishp WineCakeChocolate eat these and feel better Smile next month could be the month you get your bfp!

nishp13 · 28/02/2016 22:03

Thanks GinIsIn and cakesandphotos. I feel like I need a large glass of wine and lots of cake ;) I was so convinced that I felt pregnant and now feel like I imagined all the symptoms. I've decided next month I'm not going to symptom spot or take any tests until after my AF is due.

Sending baby dust to all of you xxxx

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 28/02/2016 22:36

Aww I was hoping to read some good news! Never mind Hun, there's always next month. I definitely agree with indulging on the cake and wine hehe xx

MrsMarsch · 29/02/2016 10:53

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to this whole thing but it'd be lovely to have some people to share this hellish process with! I never thought Monday morning would see me squatting on the bathroom floor, sticking a finger up there to check the state of my cervix.
Aiming for baby #1, trying since Christmas and hoping very much to get a BFP ASAP! (I'll get hang of the acronyms eventually) xx
