First time TTC - join me on this journey

Hi all, this is my first time TTC and would be grateful for anyone else who wants to join this journey with me until I get a BFP.

I have been using the Period Diary app to track my ovulation/fertility dates. I have a period that lasts 6 days and usually my cycle is approx 27days. According to the app my ovulation date was yesterday (13th Feb). We have tried twice before this date.

Wondering if there are any others which have had successful pregnancies using solely apps? Or if they have any tips on identifying ovulation?

Would love to share the highs and lows with you lovely people on this journey x

Ouch, MrsG, that's very expensive! I've also stocked up on HPTs from Amazon - I think I paid £2.50 for 15! Now I can POAS and don't have to worry too much about how much it's affecting my bank balance! Grin

MrsGsnow18 · 10/05/2016 19:07

I think you are very wise Fuzz!! I def need to do the same! Though I think I need to take a bit of a break from POAS as I actually feel like I'm turning into a full on crazy person! i've given up caffeine as read that too much is bad for trying to conceive, anyone else given up anything/made changes to their diet lifestyle that they are finding difficult?

Eva30 · 10/05/2016 21:17

Yeah me too and that's proving sooo difficult because I am hooked on coffee & Diet Coke. Even people at work have twigged that I'm drinking decaf :-/
I feel sooo bloated today, like I've swallowed a football and my belly is so sore. So either an infection or AF is coming I think. I hope that after about 10years on the pill this isn't what my AF pain is going to be like regularly (sob)

MrsGsnow18 · 11/05/2016 21:38

Hopefully it's not AF Eva!
Maybe it's physiological but with each cycle I don't conceive I feel like AF is getting worse! ( only bonus is I console myself with chocolate/wine!)

Eva30 · 11/05/2016 22:07

Haha mrsGS that's what my plan will involve too!

sparksalot · 12/05/2016 19:24

Hi everyone! How u all doing? I've been using the opk's from amazon too, much cheaper when testing everyday! So my AF is due next week ovia told me to test today n obvs! Need some advice im at a wedding tomorrow, to drink or not to drink?!

Eva30 · 12/05/2016 20:14

Hey sparks. I'm due to test on Sunday but my basal body temp has taken a nose dive so I'm expecting AF :( If it were me, I'd drink. I can't remember if it was this forum or another but someone said they went to their GP and asked this Q and GP said 'drink til the test is pink'

sparksalot · 12/05/2016 20:33

Hi eva! Thanks, for some reason my post missed the sentence where I said I took a test and it was a bfn. So I will have a tipple tomorrow if doc says it's ok Wink. I've never fancied doing the temperature thing, im sorry yours has gone down is that a definite for af coming? I don't really understand it x

Eva30 · 12/05/2016 21:33

Good plan.
I only started taking BBT 2 weeks ago, I'm not entirely convinced as the margins are so so small (like 0.5 degree F and I get the hump that AF is coming haha). I just bought a cheap thermometer on Amazon £4 so I'll track it for a month and see if it's any use or not - will keep you updated!

fuzzinmybrain · 12/05/2016 21:33

Hi all! Sparks, I'm going out on Saturday and was already thinking about whether or not to drink as well.. I might have one or two WineSmile

For the past few days I've been having a really dull ache in my lower belly/uterus (Im roughly 4dpo). Trying so hard not to symptom-spot, but I've had the dull pain all day now and it's quite bad! I think i'll test in the morning - a bfn might be the jolt I need to stop thinking about every twinge in my body..!

Aw no Eva, temperatures aren't always accurate either, so fingers crossed! I started tracking my temp but keep forgetting!

Eva30 · 12/05/2016 21:34

Apparently you have a rise is BBT just after ovulation (which I did) and then it dips 2-3 days before AF, mine is dipping now so we'll see...

Eva30 · 12/05/2016 21:36

Thanks Fuzz - I hope it's all a load of tosh! Grin

sparksalot · 12/05/2016 21:54

Hi all. Fuzz when I had my chemical I had some pains that felt like period cramps so fingers crossed!

fuzzinmybrain · 12/05/2016 22:14

I really hope this is implantation pain but really don't wanna get my hopes up cause I'll be gutted Sad even though it's wayyyy too early I think I'll start testing tomorrow Blush

Russkispy · 13/05/2016 10:31

Hi there, here's my little story of TTC#1 for a baby#1
OV - on CD16 (usually CD13)
6dpo - vomiting and diarrhoea as soon as I woke up. Never experienced anything like it before! When reading on Internet, it might be a sign of implantation on 5dpo. Experienced no blood spotting.
Between 7dpo-13dpo - some days was feeling nauseous in the morning snd sometimes no symptoms at all. And no PMS or AF symptoms leading to AF week.
Was expecting AF on CD29 - nothing.
Cd30 - still no signs of AF or any other symptoms
CD31 (15dpo) - took first PG test - BFN. Did 3 times that morning and still negative. And yet no signs of AF. Boobs started hurting very late at night. And noticed some pink discharge inside. Nothing on the panties.
Today CD32 - (16dpo) - took another PG test this morning - another BFN. Boobs are very sore. But no discharge inside.
I've never been that late and just dont know what to think about it all. Apart from waiting, I guess.
Is anybody experiencing the same? And has anybody been in the same boat before? And could advise?
Thank you!

MrsGsnow18 · 13/05/2016 18:13

Hi Russkispy!
Stress sometimes keeps AF away! I actually feel like TTC stress is making my cycles longer and longer each month! Some people don't ever get positives on HPT though so don't give up just yet! If still no AF in a few days test again!

Russkispy · 13/05/2016 18:49

Thank you Snow18. Because I've never been in this situation before, just don't even know what to make of it! But I wait. I've been waiting for 2 weeks now. Patiently! So fingers and toes are crossed now
How's it going with you?

Russkispy · 15/05/2016 08:56

Well, well, AF finally got me this morning! I'll trust my boobs next time as they never let me down pre-AF arrival. I'll never know why my OV day shifted last month and why I ended up with 34 CDs this time! Due to change of countries, from Iraq, permanently returning to the UK, due to unexpected redundancy which was done in a horrific way which prompted me to engage a solicitor to deal with it, it caused me a great deal of stress and upset, I won't lie.
Disappointed about this cycle but must be realistic about this journey and be aware of my age. Became 40 last month. Oh well, marching on, head high...

MrsGsnow18 · 15/05/2016 09:51

So to here that it was AF Russkispy!
My AF is now over and I'm CD6 but I plan on starting to use OPKs from tomorrow onwards to try see if I ovulate early! Fingers crossed I do, because it seems like I didn't ovulate at all last month 😒 other plan is to head to GP after this month and hopefully be given something to help me ovulate. Not sure if anyone here has been in same boat and been given anything from GP?

Lorena118 · 15/05/2016 10:10

Hi all. Can I join? Came off the pill in April. This will be cycle 2. Didn't actively try last month as I wanted to see what my cycle would be like. Me and husband are ready to go for it properly this month though.

Blondie0912 · 15/05/2016 10:14

Russ- keep your head high- you've had a stressful month and I'm sure that's the reason!!!! FX for this cycle Wink
MrsG- I have been! To be honest the GP has been great but there are A LOT of tests they make you take- I've had 2 blood tests and they send you for a scan as well- just got diagnosed with PCOS based on the scan results- I originally went to the GP because I didn't think I was ovulating (OPKs are always neg!). I also told a white lie that we've been trying for longer than we have (haha!) but it worked because they've pushed me along Grin- but still no meds yetSad Just sharing so you know what happens when you go but FX you never have to!!!!!!!!!!!

Blondie0912 · 15/05/2016 10:21

Ps hi Lorena we just posted at the same time Smile

Russkispy · 15/05/2016 13:10

Thank you, ladies! Was half expecting it since everyone is talking about fertility issues after 35 and I'm 40! But not giving up. And now I'm at home full time, will get cracking on. Also heard about acupuncture helping while TTC. Has anybody tried it!? Your thoughts and experience are welcome

EJ1986 · 15/05/2016 20:55

Hi all,

First time post.

I'm 29, married 5 weeks, DH is 35. Finally got my husband talking about ttc baby #1. He has agreed to start trying once we have sorted the house out (we moved in November) and replenished our savings (and i can't be due in February as he has to work away for a while!!). I am up for sorting the house but feel he is waiting for everything to be too perfect before trying. He firmly believes that everyone just falls pregnant the minute they first try and every time i present friends as case studies to the contrary he doesn't listen. I am hoping July / August time to start trying properly and i'm just debating when to come off the pill. Any advice? I have this pack and one more left so i'm considering broaching the subject then of coming off. The baby is currently a banned subject so i've come on here for some support from you all. I am so broody i feel like im going to burst. It's hurting so much now x

MrsGsnow18 · 15/05/2016 22:26

Thanks Blondie! Hope you get sorted with some meds soon and it's not too long a process! GP knows a bit of my history, have had scan done years ago and have cystic ovaries, GP thought back then that my body was releasing cysts some Months instead of eggs, back then I rarely had AF but pill has regulated things over the years quite well.

Russkispy- I had been reading about acupunture too recently! I think I'd actually give anything a go, can't hurt can it?

Welcome Lorena and EJ! I understand how you feel EJ, for ages I felt like a full on crazy baby obsessed person meanwhile my husband was in a state of shock that I wanted to have children so soon! ( we'd basically just got married at that point) my advice would be to come off the pill now, it takes some people a while for their body to adjust after coming off and would give you a good chance to see what your cycle is like etc. use an app to map length, when you ovulate etc. which will make you better prepared when time comes. You could always use another method of contraception until then?
