Hi all, this is my first time TTC and would be grateful for anyone else who wants to join this journey with me until I get a BFP.

I have been using the Period Diary app to track my ovulation/fertility dates. I have a period that lasts 6 days and usually my cycle is approx 27days. According to the app my ovulation date was yesterday (13th Feb). We have tried twice before this date.

Wondering if there are any others which have had successful pregnancies using solely apps? Or if they have any tips on identifying ovulation?

Would love to share the highs and lows with you lovely people on this journey x

sparksalot · 27/04/2016 22:50

I do hope this means that this thread is lucky for me too! X

Russkispy · 27/04/2016 23:07

Massive congratulations Harpsichord ! 🤗🤗🤗

MrsGsnow18 · 28/04/2016 21:56

Hi everyone
I've just joined Mumsnet, hoping for some support/advice! Happy to see all the comments from people getting BFPs!
I've been really TTC for about 6 months now. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for apps to help?
I am very irregular, I have tried a few apps and each of them always comes up with different dates for fertile days/ovulation but when I test on these days with ovulation tests, they are always negative! I'm excessively testing now with ovulation tests trying to work out my cycle. Anyone know any brilliant apps to help? Thanks!

Eva30 · 29/04/2016 14:07

Hi everyone, can I join. I have been following this thread for about a month - congratulations on the BFP's! I stopped taking the pill on 15th April (2 weeks ago) after being on it for about 10 years. I am 29 and first time TTC. I had a wb and now when do I expect first period? I am impatient already - clearly not a good trait in this long process!

Fuzyfelt23 · 29/04/2016 17:05

Congratulations Harpsichord!! I'm on 2nd cycle. Day 13 of my 28 day cycle but no sign of ovulation?! I've had flu so not sure if anything will be happening this month, we'll still give it a go xx

Harpsichord85 · 29/04/2016 17:54

Thank you everybody for your lovely comments. Smile best advice I can give is be positive every month. This cycle when i conceived was the first time I felt positive healthy and happy with life and that's all it took I guess. Ignore my previous post where I was being negative lol I think that was hormones. X

sparksalot · 29/04/2016 23:48

Hellie everyone!
To your question eva, I use the ovia app, I've found it really helpful It's full of info, gives you tips, you can ask questions you can track everything. I did conceive with when I was using this, however it didn't work out.
I'm on my next cycle cd13 (matching you fuzzy!) after the chemical, I've had a few faint lines on the opk's so fingers crossed!! X

sparksalot · 29/04/2016 23:49

Oops that was meant to say hello Confused x

So glad to have others starting this journey too! Also, congrats on the BFP's! I'm currently on CD 45, usually a 30 day cycle. So, that puts me at 15 days and still no sign, no show of AF. I have not tested in about a week and will be doing the "I pee on a stick and pray for two lines show" Sunday morning! Good luck to all of you, and hopefully the domino effect will come into play 😜

Blondie0912 · 30/04/2016 11:12

Ahh congrats Harp!! I'm a few days behind here! How exciting Grin
I also use Ovia, which I find quite user-friendly! So far not much luck with OPKs at all so trying to instead be relaxed and just DTD as much as possible!
On CD 34 now- AF due today but no signs, sadly a BFN this morning so not very hopeful! Assume AF is imminent...quite like it to get here so I can enjoy some Wine Haha! I actually did have two sneaky glasses last night, my GP is in the "drink till its pink" camp so, doctor's orders Wink Hope you're all enjoying your bank holiday weekends Grin

emalady · 01/05/2016 20:59

I'd love to join in, TTC for a little while, changed jobs so was not too fussed it wasn't happening but now back to putting in a bit more effort! I'm 32 TTC #1. OPKs in the past have shown ovulation but trying not to put too much pressure on at the moment!

Sunflower7915 · 02/05/2016 00:10

BFN today, still no AF, CD 46, and AF is 16 days late 🙁 Going to assume AF isn't coming this month and start trying again in June when I get to see my hubby ☺️

Eva30 · 04/05/2016 11:02

Thanks sparksalot. I got ovia and put in the past few weeks details and then whilst away in London this weekend it said I'm in my fertile window! That was confusing, but I did have bad headaches for like 3 days. So I got OPK and sure enough it came up positive. Very impressed with ovia knowing that because I had stopped the pill on 15th Apr and didn't have a clue! So obv DTD and now I join the waiting game with you guys!! Xx

MrsGsnow18 · 05/05/2016 22:18

Thanks for advice about apps. I have started using ovia now as so many people seem to recommend it. Fingers crossed it helps me make some sense of my very long/irregular cycles.
Does anyone take their Basal Temperature? Have been reading a bit about this but seems a bit of a hassle as it has to be taken first thing when you wake up in the morning?

Eva30 · 05/05/2016 22:23

Hi mrsgsnow. I started taking my basal temp at the weekend, just bought a cheap thermometer on Amazon for £4. The instructions say temp is naturally higher in the afternoon but so long as you take it at the same time every day you will be able to spot the spikes in temp. I take mine before bed X

MrsGsnow18 · 07/05/2016 14:37

Hi Eva
Thanks for reply.
Before bed is a great idea, I might have a look on Amazon and invest in one too.

fuzzinmybrain · 08/05/2016 21:35

Hi everyone! I've been TTC since early Feb and started OPKs for the first time this month. I’m only on CD7, and my OPK looks like a positive, which confirms what I initially thought: that I ovulate very early in my cycle. Is that normal? Does anyone else ovulate really early in their cycle?

First time TTC - join me on this journey
Eva30 · 08/05/2016 21:44

Hi fuzz. Wow that is early in the cycle, do you have short AF? How long is your cycle in total?
I've only stopped the pill in April so still figuring mine out.

fuzzinmybrain · 08/05/2016 22:02

Hi Eva! Yes, AF only lasts around 2-3 days and my cycles are around 25 days... I stopped taking the pill in Feb but my cycles are pretty regular. I'm glad I decided to use OPKs, couldn't believe it was a positive so early!

MrsGsnow18 · 09/05/2016 19:57

What kind of ovulation tests does everyone use? I have been using boots own ones and after testing nearly every day concluded that I must not have ovulated this month! 😒 there was a very feint line one of the days but the instructions said line had to be as dark or darker than control line?

Eva30 · 09/05/2016 20:24

Yeah I use boots own. I had quite a few faint lines and took them as negative. The positive was really dark, like the same colour as the control line. Like the one that fuzz posted

First time TTC - join me on this journey
fuzzinmybrain · 09/05/2016 21:46

I bought 50 OPKs from Amazon for under £10. I definitely noticed a positive OPK yesterday, and tested again today and the line was barely visible..! Maybe you ovulate a lot earlier on as well, MrsG? Also, what time do you usually test? The results can vary on the time of day a lot

MrsGsnow18 · 09/05/2016 23:05

Maybe Fuzz! I hadn't thought that it could be as early, but everyone is different so I guess this could be possible! Though I do have very long cycles, 35 has been shortest so far! ( the waiting just seems so long!!)
I was usually testing around 6 in evening, as soon as I got in from work as it said not to do after 8pm. I think I'll look on Amazon, at the moment I am spending a fortune on the 20 packs from boots (£28.99!)
