I just spotted that the old thread was now closed to new messages so thought I'd start another. The old thread for reference: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2457787-TTC-1-after-miscarriage-looking-for-some-buddies

I never normally bleed at ovulation. I don't know. Feel so grumpy!

Bonxie · 15/02/2016 13:21

Hello everyone, welcome new people and Thanks for everyone who needs them, for whatever reason.

Not caught up properly yet, just quick update: been doing superdrug early tests (all bfn) for days. AF would be due today but no sign yet. I could be 11 or 12 dpo now, so it's still possible I guess, but not hopeful. Cycle may have lengthened.

I'm just focusing on egg quality for next time (I'm quite mature now, you know Grin) Unexpectedly feeling much more positive generally. Pass the milk and nuts!

AmyB1986 · 15/02/2016 14:56

Loki I've never had a bleed at ovulation either but I'm taking it that I've released a big plump egg. Google came up with some good causes for why it happens sometimes and not others.

Bonxie have everything crossed for you.

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 15/02/2016 17:10

I often get pain around OV but only on the right side. I'm guessing the months I don't get it is when I OV from the left. Apparently my ovaries are healthy though so not sure why just the one side hurts.
Never bled at OV though but it could just be hormone changes and after effects of mc maybe? Hopefully it is a sign of a really good plump egg Grin

I think I'm about to OV early, cm is increasing a lot. My BFP cycle I had a lot of EWCM compared to normal so I'm hoping this is a good sign. UTI has eased off but not completely gone away and I'm not keen on DTD while it's still lingering so I need that egg to hold off for a few days!

I hope you are right Amy but dare not get my hopes up at all. This is all so hard.

Waitingformiracles · 15/02/2016 19:12

Congratulations to all of you who are successfully ovulating!

I have had a bit of spotting with ovulation in the past and was always told it was a sign of strong ovulation. They do say you are more fertile after a loss... I also wonder if it could also be something to do with your cervix being soft and open during ovulation and whether the cm is mixing with a little left over blood.

Insufficiently fingers crossed that UTI clears up soon.

AmyB I hope your Gran is feeling better.

MrsUnsure Thats is really tough you are getting comments from your DPs parents. Would you ever think about telling them? We hadn't told either of our parents before the scan either and felt a bit funny telling them after when it was bad news. In the end we had to tell my PILs as DH works in the family business and had to get time off. Was horrible telling my parents but I'm glad we did as at least they know why we are a bit off just now and I think they would have been upset if they'd found out later and we hadn't told them.

Out of interest, how does everyone know what their hcg levels are?

We aren't going to use opks or anything this time which is kind of weird because we actually successfully did fertility awareness to prevent pregnancy until we decided to ttc so I have charted for nearly 5 years... seems funny that now we are ttc we've stopped and everyone else starts! We just want to relax for a bit and avoid any stress and see how it goes

AmyB1986 · 15/02/2016 20:03

Waiting I've been having my hcg monitored because my pregnancy was down as unlocated. I had a small amount of tissue left and they couldn't be sure if it was too early or miscarriage. The Drs wanted to monitor incase it was ectopic or molar and could only discharge me after it had fallen below 50. It has fallen in line slowly with miscarriage and I was discharge on Wednesday last week as my hcg was 19. Guess I've ov'd straight the way after its fallen to 0.

JoMalones · 15/02/2016 20:04

amy hope your gram is better soon. Spotting at conception usually means implantation

loki the spotting is all to do with your cervix opening during ovulation so it is a good sign. Plus mc changes everything it seems.

redstrawberries101 · 15/02/2016 21:34

Good luck to all those tracking ovulation. I think I would get myself too stressed taking temps and peeing on sticks everyday so apart from keeping an eye on fertile days from my ovia app I'm not planning to do anything else. I am tryin to focus on taking vitamins and eat fruit and veg/ get my energy up. Need to cut out the caffeine as I've been drinking lots and lots of Coke.

Amy - I feel your pain. Terrible start to the year for me too. New Year's Day and admitted into Hosp with urinary sepsis after which a scan on kidneys revealed mmc. Medical management which was absolutely awful (blacked out three times with pain). I spent a week in Hosp and shortly after coming home my mil was admitted with respiratory failure and is still in Hosp. Then DH goes to the docs (he very rarely goes) for what he thinks is a urine infection and it turns out to be type 2 diabetes! Both of us are fed up at work and feel under valued/ rubbish salary reviews and here we are. In freezing February!

somethingfromnothing · 15/02/2016 22:55

Amy I saw you posted about missing your lh surge? I've used opks for a few months and some people do get a gradually darker line but u don't seem to work like that. Mine are all over the place darker one day then lighter the next and then I get a really dark positive out of the blue!

somethingfromnothing · 15/02/2016 22:57

Cheekychick I hope things pick up for you soon Flowers

AmyB1986 · 15/02/2016 23:10

Cheeky urinary sepsis is exactly what my gran has. She also has severe kidney failure! So worried it's going to really hurt her health with the kidney failure. Im only going to track with temps until af arrives this month, just wanted to know if I ov'd after the mc. Quite interesting though how everything works. Been doing the same as you, eating plenty of good goods and taking vitamins and most of all trying not to get stressed! Easier said than done though isn't it.

I love my DD's to bits, but it's 1 day into half term and I already want to send them back to school! They're fighting constantly! At least they have a break from each other whilst in class.
I've had to separate them into different rooms to play. Set my youngest up with her shopkins toys in the spare room made her a village with all the different sets she had for her birthday.
My eldest was making a library with all her books on her shelf, sat and made library tickets they don't have tickets anymore to stick inside her books to check them out. Had no fights for two hours until it came to tea time and didn't want to sit next to each other then started to talk about poo at the dinner table!
Can't stop laughing thinking about it now though.

AmyB1986 · 15/02/2016 23:15

Something I used OPKs when I conceived my second DD never had any problems with them before. They'd be negative then positive for 12 hours and negative again. Maybe my hormones are different now but the temps I've been taking suggest I missed it with the OPKs. Had a temp dip on Saturday which is the oestrogen surge before the egg breaks free and two days temp rise, if it's risen again tomorrow I defo ov'd and missed the surge.
Have you tried temping? Maybe easier for you to track that way and ignore the OPKs

smellsofelderberries · 16/02/2016 16:58

I've no idea what's going on with me currently. CD11 today and I had quite a few signs of ovulation over the weekend/yesterday (but a -OPK yesterday morning) so assumed I was gearing up to ovulate. Today all my usually O symptoms are gone and my CM has pretty much dried up and turned creamy Angry the earliest I've ever ovulated pre-MC was CD17 for crying out loud! I don't see how I could be ovulating on CD10. I really hope this isn't an anovulatory cycle. Guess I just need to wait and see what the next week brings and see if it was a false surge Sad

JoMalones · 16/02/2016 17:04

elderberries signs of CM etc are usually a more accurate sign than opks so maybe it was ovulation or maybe just getting ready for next week? Sp frustrating though.

smellsofelderberries · 16/02/2016 17:43

Thanks Jo. Just very frustrating as OPKs were always really reliable for me pre-MC. I don't know how I could be ovulating almost a week early though, it just doesn't make sense. I vaguely remember this happening sometimes pre-MC, I would have a little surge 5-6 days before actually ovulating. I would spend a few days going 'was that it? Really?'and then all of a sudden I would wake up and be like 'oh, THERE it is'. Sounds weird but I would then get a +OPK during the proper surge and period would start 10 or 11 days later. Guess I just need to be patient and chill. Really wish I didn't care so much!

AmyB1986 · 16/02/2016 18:11

Temp rise again this morning, I've defo ov'd!!

Elderberries I didn't get a +OPK but lots of cm previous day's which is now thinner like water. OPKs were always reliable for me but had no success with them this month just with temps and cm tracking.

My temps are quite cold compared to normal. My bbt is always around 37 but it's been between 36.1 and 36.7. My temp is never this low. Mc has completed messed with everything!

Fedupithink · 16/02/2016 18:20

I've been looking at my projected fertile window on the new Ovia app and compared to my previous tracker and even though both seem to suggest I'm due AF on 8th March my window is different and combined is 10 days?!

I'm not sure this is quite right but with ovulating early last month I'm not taking any chances by relying on either... I so want this February to be positive after the mc last year.

somethingfromnothing · 16/02/2016 18:28

I've thought about temping but I'm
not a great sleeper and my dd wakes often during the night which I've heard can make temping unreliable. I wish I could just be relaxed and not bother with opks but I have very long cycles. Got very sore boobs today which either means I'm about to ovulate or get af.

AmyB1986 · 16/02/2016 18:35

Something I read somewhere that it doesn't matter about the sleep as long as you take your temp when resting at the same time each day, so as soon as you wake up and before you move in the morning. I don't sleep very well, wake myself up snoring Confused my temps are normally ok.

Fedup my ovia has gone crackers! She's given my projected period as the 8th March. Given my ov (if that's what it was) then she's out completely! Ignoring her and will add my af when it comes so she can calculate wrongly again

redstrawberries101 · 16/02/2016 19:26

I thought I was ok but DH just told me his best mates wife (who I am now great friends with) is expecting. His mate told him last night. I'm so happy for them and don't want to sound jealous but inside I feel absolutely terrible, it's just hit me like a brick and I want to cry my eyes out

LuckyinOctober · 16/02/2016 19:50

Cheeky a good cry is allowed, I've found it helps to acknowledge and deal with my own feelings and then keep that separate from being happy for pregnant friends/ friends with new babies (at least when they're around me).

Ovia frustrations-wise, I think how good it is at predicting depends on how stable your cycle length is, and whether or not OV happens for you at the average mid-way point or not. It's now twice moved my fertile window based on my data, and I've only used it to track 4 cycles so far. It does mean that where you're noticing EWCM and other ovulation cues before your fertile window, Ovia is likely to retrospectively change her mind and decide that was your fertile window, and with the changed fertile windows my period calculation date has then usually been pretty accurate.

Update from me is that I suspect I'm about to get AF but I've been saying that for a few days now to DH. DH can pick up a change in my breath scent that means I'm due on and apparently he noticed that last night, which seemed to confirm it. I haven't tested yet, but will do tomorrow if still no period.

smellsofelderberries · 16/02/2016 19:58

Amy I gave up with Ovia months ago, it never seemed to 'learn' my cycle and I hate how there's no 'overview' of a chart. None of them are perfect though, I hate how you can't manually input ovulation on a particular day in any of them it seems! Or I'm just doing it wrong. Grin

Cheeky, I'm so sorry you're having a hard time. It really sucks to see people getting what we want so badly.

AmyB1986 · 16/02/2016 20:17

Elderberries ovia has a little button now on the calendar so you can add ovulation based on your own feeling etc. I added mine and it's still predicted my period wrongly. Hey ho give up! I'm using fertility friend too to chart my temps. Seems to be more accurate if you're measuring bbt.

Cheeky sorry you're having a hard time. So far I've not had to deal anyone close announcing pregnancy and I'm avoiding social media. Have a good cry it helps.

Lucky fingers crossed your DH is wrong.

MimiDoddrioni · 16/02/2016 20:28

Hi Amy and Elderberries, I've been using the Kindara app for tracking my fertility signals, it's pretty simple and allows you to input when you've OV'd. I've used Glow and Ovia before but found the extra bits like suggestions about eating blueberries or going for a bike ride pretty annoying, particular the prompts to take a HPT, as most women need reminding to that. Kindara also has a nice chart and quite a nice interface for inputting Smile. I'm just using it for AF and CM tracking, not temping as that stressed me out too much last time.
