Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

That's good to know Theresa :) I also gave birth to DS on dry land with G&A although I used the pool for pain relief earlier in labour. I had a long one too. No sleep for three days was hard going. But adrenaline took over :)

wispaxmas · 06/04/2016 17:16

G&A made me feel so ill!! I'm high risk this time around so will be fairly medicalised this time around after 3rd degree tear and 3l blood loss last time (not to frighten any first timers, sorry!! No knock on lasting effects, though,, so even life threatening stuff can be all fine after a bit of time passes!). Bring on the epidural, haha.

Very good news about your cycle being predictable, Theresa!

I'm literally counting down the days until next cycle now that AF is gone- should be TTC from 30 April, it's getting so close now!!

wispaxmas · 06/04/2016 17:17

We are going to need a new thread soon!

FriendlyGhost · 06/04/2016 19:01

I had a csection last time and definitely want one again next time. No way I'm squeezing out a 10 pounder!
DH was offered a new job today. I'm obviously very proud of him but he's realised that this means he won't get paternity leave until he's been there a year. He wants to wait a couple of months to ttc now. It is sensible as we don't have family near and I will definitely have a csection so will need him around. I don't want to wait another two months though. I actually don't think I have the patience to wait another few days and I want another baby NOW!

wispaxmas · 06/04/2016 19:36

friendly, they may still offer pat leave before the one year, has he seen terms of employment? Perhaps he should ask, it could be that they would offer it after 6 months, for example.

wispaxmas · 06/04/2016 19:42

Actually, friendly, he would be eligible for pat leave as long as he had been employed with that employer for 26 weeks prior to the 15th weeks before the EDD, so that's 41 weeks and not 52. When would he be starting the job? If right away you could TTC next cycle and he would be eligible for paternity leave, wouldn't he?

TheresaMarie55 · 06/04/2016 20:09

My dh didn't take paternity leave last time, he saved a week's holiday and took it when I have bitrth. We didn't look into it properly and thought he'd only be paid 139.58 a week, which just wouldn't be enough. I've researched properly this time and see he actually gets 90% of his weekly wage, we could definitely manage on that for his leave! X

FriendlyGhost · 06/04/2016 22:39

That's really useful. Thanks Wispa. He hasn't actually seen the full contract yet as was only offered the job today. In his current place he gets 2 weeks full pay and I know that was only after a year's service but if it's just statutory then that would be fine I think. I actually think he could just take leave like you suggest Theresa. He's got a 3 month notice period to work but reckons he can get it down to 2. Hopefully I'll know more in the next few days. Just enough time to get AF out of the way!

TheresaMarie55 · 06/04/2016 23:13

Well, I'd read it wrong. It's 90% of your weekly wage if your wage is less than 139.58 a week. If your weekly wage is more then you get 139.58 . Looks like dh will be using holidays again x

BertieBotts · 07/04/2016 06:35

He should ask, Theresa. Some companies have a more generous policy these days. That is just the statutory amount ie how much the state will cover if the company has no policy on it.

wispaxmas · 07/04/2016 07:31

He should definitely ask. I have a very low paying job and was surprised to find they offered pay over and above SMP last time around. Not quite the same thing, but he could be surprised.

Anyways, NEW THREAD! We're getting quite close to capping this one, and as it's getting to the end of Feb/mar/April I would get one started for the upcoming months: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2608901-relaxed-ttc-april-may-june-july-2016

TheresaMarie55 · 07/04/2016 10:57

He's gonna ask in case it's changed but he very much doubts it's more than the statutory amount.

Are we all going into the new thread now then? X

EvansAndThePrince · 07/04/2016 21:38

Hello! So I have a question.

I'm usually like clockwork but AF didn't arrive today. Don't want to get my hopes up because we didn't DTD at all through my cycle except yesterday.
I had an unusually heavy period last month, and I'm trying to talk myself away from hoping it could have been implantation bleeding.
So. I'm being far too hopeful yes?

BertieBotts · 08/04/2016 09:27

Evans this thread is almost full but you can try posting on the next one!

I think last AF would have been too early for implantation bleeding. I would wait a few days and see if this month's turns up.
