Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Oh, and as for temping I am finding it interesting. This is only the second cycle I've temped - the first was over 2 years ago when I got pregnant with my DD. Since I've never had a temped cycle after which I got AF I'm interested to see the signs of it approaching (falling temp) and also want to confirm how long my luteal phase is. When I temped back in 2013 I ovulated on CD15, this cycle I ovulated on CD16. My cycles are always 28 or 29 days long and I just assumed that when I fell pregnant with DD it would have otherwise been a 29 day cycle and my luteal phase would have been 14 days. Now with this cycle I think it's more likely I have a 13 day luteal phase, but I'm interested to see next cycle as well.

I think temping is honestly keeping me from going insane and deciding we need to TTC RIGHT THIS SECOND, because I feel like I'm educating myself and learning about how my body works.

highhopes, I wouldn't mind a Christmas baby EXCEPT for the fact that our surname is Christmas. It would be a little much really.. My mum's birthday is 17 December, but I don't think she ever had her birthday just lumped in with Christmas. She hasn't ever mentioned it anyways, so it couldn't have done her any lasting harm Grin

Devgal · 21/03/2016 13:45

Thanks Wispa - I know you are absolutely right! The only other annoying hurdle now is I have irregular cycles from PCOS, so not even sure I will know when AF is late!
That looks really interesting. I can see how it is proabably more beneficial than OPK because as you say you are learning how your body works rather than accepting a positive OPK as 'Go time!'.

HighHopes16 · 21/03/2016 14:41

wispa I think you should plan to give birth on 24/12 and call her Eve! Grin

My friend growing up had her birthday on Dec 22nd and hated how it merged into Christmas hmmm

TheresaMarie55 · 21/03/2016 15:11

If I don't take my next pack of pills and fell pregnant my due date would be between 24th and 27th December lol.

My brother is 14th December and sisters is 16th. My brothers not bothered at all, quite likes it actually. My sister isn't so keen on it though x

TheresaMarie55 · 21/03/2016 15:14

Saying that though, my cousins birthday is the day after Valentine's and she hated it as she got older. All her friends where always busy with their partners around her birthday so now she doesn't bother with her birthday much. Also know people born in July and August who hated that their birthdays where always in the summer holidays as people where away for their birthdays. Ups and downs to most months I guess x

Thanks everyone!!

I ended up telling DH on the phone, I couldn't keep it in! I kind of wish I'd waited till tonight but he said he was planning on working late cos he's so busy so maybe wouldn't have been home till 9ish, there's no way I could have lasted till then! He's going to come home early so we can have a nice evening together!

Devgal you're def not out till you're out, I had cramping 4-8dpo then nothing, I'm now 11 dpo and cramps have started up again. I did a test on Friday which was obviously bfn as far too early. I never normally cramp before AF so suspected something might be going on which is why I tested again this morning.

Wispaxmas you're the threads conception guru, Im impressed with your knowledge, I don't have a clue about any of it!

Devgal · 21/03/2016 16:12

Thanks Avril - glad you and DH will be able to celebrate tonight!

wispaxmas · 21/03/2016 16:33

That's lovely, avril!

I'm not sure if call myself a guru, it's just that I like to know as much about what I'm doing as possible and I'm a bit of a research fiend. I know loooooads about pregnancy safety (as in its safe to have far more caffeine than they say and statistically children of mothers who drink moderately in pregnancy have higher IQs than those who abstain entirely or those who drink more than a few a week- just highlights that alcohol has no effect on a foetus unless you drink a lot- for example).

Oh, as you're pregnant I can totally recommend the only pregnancy book I liked- Expecting Better by Emily Oster!

Avriljen · 21/03/2016 16:44

Thanks for the recommendation wispa, I'll definitely check it out!

SoozC · 21/03/2016 19:07

In my tww. Think I'm 12 dpo. Haven't tested yet. I feel convinced that I'm not, all prepared for arrival of af on Weds or Thurs. Except I had an odd taste in my mouth earlier when eating jelly babies and right now I have a burning kind of sensation below my belly button. It's not painful burning, just a pressing kind of feeling, if that makes sense to anyone! But I'm trying desperately not to read too much into it; I'll be so sad when af arrives.

Pointlessfan · 22/03/2016 07:35

Just checking in, had fallen off the thread. Nice to hear some good news.

AliceScarlett · 22/03/2016 09:20

Checking in. I'm annoyed I'm having a month off. Looks like the job I'm going for wont interview for another few weeks so I'll miss April's fertile window too. So annoying.

Wheresmybippers · 22/03/2016 19:40

Checking in. Amazing news Avril!!

I'm about to hit my fertile window, not sure I've got the energy! Dd turns 1 on Sunday so we've a busy week. If no luck this month we are holding off to mid June.

Sending eggy-spermy vibes everyone's way!

wispaxmas · 22/03/2016 20:20

Annoying, alice!! Hopefully May will be your month, then.

wispaxmas · 22/03/2016 20:22

Good luck, bippers!! Hats off to you for even trying when your DD is that age, and happy birthday to her!

Wheresmybippers · 22/03/2016 20:35

Thank you wispa Smile

Yawninghippo · 22/03/2016 21:49

Hi allSmile, may I join?

I've spent the day reading through this thread, in a total non stalker way ( she says, realising that's what a stalker would say!).

I've got 3 children already with my ex and have been with my current partner a year, and talking about adding to the brood. We've been off contraception since December but not actively trying to make anything happen. Partner says he wants to definitely try from summer 2017Shock but is ok with me staying off contraception and if it happens, it happens. So being sensible and have started taking some vitamins just in case. Was having a little rummage around the posts here and this one has been lovely to follow, so thought I'd pop by and say hi!

I've only just joined so picking up the lingo as I go! Any help gratefully received!

Pointlessfan · 23/03/2016 07:27

Welcome hippo!

TheresaMarie55 · 23/03/2016 14:08

Welcome hippo! How old are your other children? I have a three year old, one year old and a 13 year old stepson. I'm still on the pill atm but will take my last one on the 15th of April, not long now!

My eldest has chicken pox at the moment so it's been a bit rubbish here lately, expecting my one year old to get them to but just waiting for now. Easter holiday plans of days out aren't looking like they're going ahead! X

Yawninghippo · 23/03/2016 15:26

Hi Theresa!

I have a 7 yr old, 6 yr old and a 4 yr old. I came off the patch in December due to unexplained spotting and just haven't gone back on. Just finished AF so who knows what April will bring! Got my fingers crossed for everyone.

I'm still waiting for mine to get chicken pox, not one spot has ever been in sight! X

TheresaMarie55 · 23/03/2016 15:59

My three year old started the 15 hours in January and it's been illness after illness since! She's never normally ill but seems to be catching everything atm bless.

If I did have a party planned for my birthday I'd not bother taking my last pack of pills. I'm not really fussed about drinking tbh but I know my husband would rather me be able to let my hair down. Just a waiting game x

Yawninghippo · 23/03/2016 17:11

My 6 year old has a weak immune system and has just spent a week in hospital for swine flu, poor lil thing. So many bugs and nasties around.

When is your birthday Theresa?
X

TheresaMarie55 · 23/03/2016 17:26

Aww, bless them! Hope they're doing ok now.

My birthday is 13th of April, party on the 15th. Total coincidence but that's also when my next pill pack runs out lol! So in secret me and hubby will also be celebrating that were ttc from then x

Pointlessfan · 23/03/2016 17:44

Another of my friends is pregnant! That makes 7. I'm really happy for them all but I must admit I welled up a bit when I read the news. I'm starting to get impatient. I hope that doesn't make me sound horribly selfish.
