Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Hello ladies
I am 27, came off the pill in November and trying to work out what my cycles are using Ovia. Am also taking multivitamins/folic acid tablets in preparation of ttc March onwards. Ive also had a v indulgent Xmas so will be making a conscious effort to make healthy choices from.tomorrow onward!
Hopefully March comes round quickly, hubby and I ready mentally to ttc now, but we need a few things in place with work etc before we can go ahead. Wish we weren't being so 'sensible' So I'll be here, just twiddling my thumbs, until ttc in March!
Smile xx

Felipa yep know what you mean completely, for me Jan 1 it will be 2016 and that means it's TTC year!

Flamingo us too. I have some health things to get sorted before I can TTC, and it's driving me up the wall to have to wait.

Such a relief to know there are so many other ladies playing this waiting game! I can't believe how obsessed focussed I have become already Wink

Ovia keeps moving my predicted dates for ovulation around which is strange, but it's only my first cycle off the pill so who knows what's happening! Last time I took a break from the pill about 6 years ago I had cycles between 30 and 55 days long.

Felipa · 31/12/2015 15:46

It's awful having to wait isn't it?! I'be only got two full cycles to wait and it seems like it will take forever!

I must say though that I am looking forward to a final indulgence tonight (well the Christmas champagne needs to be finished before healthiness can begin!).

Fazi27 · 31/12/2015 16:13

Hi all, perfect thread for me too! Also hoping to TTC once I finish this and next pill pack, just plan to get back fit and eat well for the first few months and going to start using Ovia too. I downloaded it last month but was scared off by all the things it wants to know on a daily basis plus the fact I'm still on the pill now I think it's pointless to use it till I'm finished.

Oh god - eggs in 90 days are what you ate today?! Haha that means mine will be croque monsieur lunch and half a galaxy selection box!!! 😶

Going to enjoy a few drinks tonight as yes possibly next Xmas & New Years I'll be pregnant like you all!

Happy new year to you all Xmas Smile

Felipa · 31/12/2015 16:49

Happy New Year everyone! Grin

Pointlessfan · 31/12/2015 17:45

Happy New Year everyone!

AliceScarlett · 01/01/2016 11:14

This years our year!Grin

stumblymonkey · 01/01/2016 14:22

Happy New Year everyone!

I start my 'get healthy' on Monday so today I'm on Buck's Fizz and bourbon biscuits ConfusedGrin

Crazy to think we could have a bun in the oven this time next year!

I'm trying to take up a 'wholesome' hobby...so have ordered some cute fabric to make up nursery cushions and blankets. I realise this is waaaaaay too soon, but I'm realistic that there's always a possibility things won't work out don't worry!

I haven't started the 'get healthy' yet either... Still have one bottle of fizz and a lot of leftover chocolates to get through!

AliceScarlett · 01/01/2016 17:36

Ages ago Blush I bought "The resourceful mums handbook" its so good for kids on a budget and has some great home made/crafty ideas.

Driving home from relatives now and DH said "shall we do it from now? Shall we just have a baby?" I said that as he was driving it was probably best to wait til we get home Smile but yeah, that's it! Decision 100% made. Squeeeeeeeee.

Must remember not to take contraception without thinking as its so embedded in my routine. Think I'll dispose of it.

I just want to go and buy vitamins now.

Mostly excited, slightly terrified.

Wonder where we all be BFP wise this time next year. Jesus, just realised I could have a newborn, theoretically.

AliceScarlett · 01/01/2016 18:35

Just bought pressed...so much for saving money Hmm

AliceScarlett · 01/01/2016 18:35

Pre-seed!

Vanillaradio · 01/01/2016 18:46

Hi all. Can I join in. Looking to ttc dc2 this year but like YogaYoga have diabetes which needs sorting a bit (have appointment at preconception clinic 14th January) and need to start on 5mg folic acid so likely to be March or April before we start trying. Was pregnant with ds (now 2) literally 2 weeks after we got the all clear to try but fast approaching 40 now so may not be so lucky this time.

Fazi27 · 01/01/2016 19:48

AliceScarlett excuse my ignorance but what is pre-seed?

AliceScarlett · 01/01/2016 20:37

www.amazon.co.uk/Pre-Seed-Fertility-Friendly-Lubricant-Multi-Use-Applicators/dp/B004382GWK

Its the reviews that hoicked me in.

AliceScarlett · 01/01/2016 20:37

2 weeks Vanilla! That's amazing!

Pointlessfan · 02/01/2016 19:45

No healthy progress here either, just "using up" the mince pies and mulled wine!

stumblymonkey · 02/01/2016 19:47

I'm not quite down with the Mumsnet lingo yet....what is BFP and BFN?

I've worked out that it has positive and negative in it (I think?!?) but what does BF stand for?

stumblymonkey · 02/01/2016 19:49

Vanilla how old were you when you conceived #1?

OP posts:
Lashingsofgingerbeer3 · 02/01/2016 20:02

I think it's Big Fat Positive(BFP) and Big Fat Negative(BFN),Stumbly. Smile

stumblymonkey · 02/01/2016 20:12

Ah! I see!

Does anyone know the guidance around who should take 5mg of folic acid? Do you decide yourself or do you have to see a GP?

OP posts:
AliceScarlett · 02/01/2016 20:27

"Folic acid for those at higher risk of neural tube defects

Some women have an increased risk of having a pregnancy affected by a neural tube defect and are advised to take a higher dose of 5 milligrams (5mg) of folic acid each day until they are 12 weeks pregnant.
You have an increased risk if:
you or your partner have a neural tube defect
you previously had a pregnancy affected by a neural tube defect
you or your partner have a family history of neural tube defects
you have diabetes
In addition, you should consult your GP for advice if you're taking anti-epileptic medication, as you may also need to take a higher dose of folic acid.
If any of the above applies to you, talk to your GP as they can prescribe a higher dose of folic acid. Your GP or midwife may also recommend additional screening tests during your pregnancy."

From NHS choices.

Felipa · 02/01/2016 20:29

Still haven't started the health kick here either, trying to finish all the remaining chocs and wine. Plus, it is a Saturday so a hard day to start on!!

AliceScarlett · 02/01/2016 20:29

My biggest worry atm is DH not wanting to DTD (do the dirty) when I'm ovulating. His sex drive isn't very high and finds any pressure a turn off. I wish he was one of those blokes who was always up for it!

stumblymonkey · 02/01/2016 20:44

Alice How low is low? Would he if he wasn't getting any the rest of the time?**

Thanks for the folic info!*
