Hope it's not too presumptuous but the last thread was nearly full so thought I'd get a new one ready!

Didn't even get to test this morning because AF arrived during the night. The total bitch Angry

So my updated stats - age 33 TTC #1, cycle #10

I like to have a plan for what we'll do differently next month but I honestly don't know as I think we pretty much threw everything at it this month Sad

loopylou1984 · 04/12/2015 08:04

So sorry for af, just when you start to think it's possible there she is with a night time visit. I hate her.

What have you tried so far? Xx

Mimilicious013 · 04/12/2015 08:06

Hie ladies, can i board the bus too.am on cd24 of an everage 28/30 cycle.sorry for af soda,u can enjoy a bit of wine this weekend.good luck to everyone poasing, have fun to all dtd and fingers crossed for lots of patience in the tww

Sodasoda · 04/12/2015 08:57

Thanks mimi.

sammy I know, I hate her too! I don't know why I allowed myself to get excited this month but I did. Feel a bit gutted. Also feel bad as for the first time DH seemed pretty low. Just feel like I'm letting him down. We've tried SMEP, DTD every day (that was a tiring month!) pre-seed, OPKs, clear blue advanced fertility monitor, temping (this month) and acupuncture (last 2 months). Bum on pillow after DTD, lying still afterwards etc etc. Oh wait, I could just try and relax and chill out, I hear that works like a charm right?! Wink

DH has booked an appointment to get his sperm tested with GP. I think we'd both like to start taking things a bit further re tests now. Any advice on first steps? What would GP test me for? Concerned they won't test me yet as we haven't been trying a year yet. I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating (normal cycles, temping, OPKs etc) so thought it made sense to check out DH before we went down any route of invasive checks on me. Will DH have to 'perform' there and then at the docs do you know (he's a bit concerned about that!) or will he get a pot and have to go away or another appointment somewhere else etc?

I hope you get a positive call from the clinic today sammy xx

Sodasoda · 04/12/2015 09:08

Thanks mimi

I know sammy I hate her too! I was feeling really hopeful this month and I just feel really quite gutted now. For the first time DH seemed disappointed too and just feel like I'm letting him down. We've tried SMEP, DTD every day for a month (tiring), pre-seed, OPKs, clear blue advanced fertility monitor, temping (this month), acupuncture (last 2 months) and usually a combination of all of them! Bum in air after DTD, lying still afterwards etc. vitamins for us both. Oh wait, we haven't tried just relaxing- I've heard that one works really well!! Wink

We're starting to think about going for some preliminary tests and DH has booked docs appointment next week. Do you know if he'll have to 'perform' then? He's a bit worried about that! Or will he just get a pot to take away?

We haven't been trying for a year yet so not sure if they'll do any tests on me. Am fairly sure I'm ovulating (normal cycles, temps and OPKs) so thought it made sense for DH to go first for initial tests. But if anyone had any thoughts or advice on first steps that would be appreciated! If everything is normal with DH then we'd consider having private tests for me in a couple of months.

I hope you have a positive call from clinic today sammy xx

Sorry for double posting - thought I'd lost my first post but now everyone has 2 essays to enjoy Smile

MagpieCursedTea · 04/12/2015 09:17

Sorry about AF soda Sad**
I doubt they'll want your DH to give his deposit then and there! As we lived fairly close to the hospital, my DH got to do his at home. There was a time limit to get it to the hospital so he then had a mad dash there with the hope that he didn't run into his mother who works there.
Our GP told us about another patient of hers who was worried about getting to the hospital quick enough and was caught by security trying to 'get his sample' in his car in the car park Grin
As for your tests, they'll just start with the CD3 and CD21 blood tests. I think the CD21 ones are meant to be done 7 days before your period is due if I remember correctly.

Welcome mimi!
Hello to everyone else, hope you're all having a good week. I'm off to get my Christmas tree today so that's something to look forward to! Still ill and I've been to the doctor, had some blood tests. I'm a bit anaemic so going back next week.

Kkk soda.how long have u been ttc now.it took me over a year to conceive dd.im a little patient this time around although i still get heart broken when af shows.hubby loves drinking and maybe that's why it takes longer, aaa this ttc business is such a rollercoaster ride

Mimilicious013 · 04/12/2015 09:32

Hope u get better soon Magpie and thanks.u just made me laugh.i can only imagine the car scene .enjoy your xmas tree shopping.this is an easier month to ttc because of so much activity with the festive season.u don't tend to obsess with symptom spotting

loopylou1984 · 04/12/2015 09:49

Soda - your gp will do a few tests before referring you and these can be done prior to 1 year. It'll be a couple of blood tests for hormone levels and a vaginal swab for you most likely and the SA for your dh. I think things differ from area to area, but my dh got a pot from the doctors and had to do the sample at home and drop it to the local fertility clinic within two hours.

Yes, if you just turn your thinking about ttc switch to off then you'll find you'll become pregnant just like that! Wink Xx

Mimilicious013 · 04/12/2015 10:31

Sammy what cd and cycle are u on good luck on your bfp

Sodasoda · 04/12/2015 11:24

Thanks a lot for advice magpie and sammy - really helpful. I think I'll go to the GP in the new year and get the ball rolling assuming all is fine with DH.

Sorry to hear you're still poorly magpie hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.

We already have our Christmas tree up! Got a bit over excited as soon as it hit December! Blush

Can I also ask about boozing? I'm not a huge drinker but I've been continuing to have a couple of drinks while we've been TTC. Im just asking because the way it's worked out is I'll be in the waiting time over Christmas period but way too early to test. The in laws are huge drinkers and there'll be booze flowing every day! I don't want to raise any excitement or gossip by not drinking but obviously want to be careful. What do others do?

loopylou1984 · 04/12/2015 11:50

Mim - I'm on cd5 now after a failed ivf attempt. I'm not sure which cycle it is, but it's been a little over 2 years ttc.

Soda - I used to not drink in 2ww, but two years in it would be pretty miserable if I was still restricting myself for half the year. That being said I am being very careful now as don't want to give any extra reasons for the ivf not to work. Xx

Mummyofonesofar · 04/12/2015 12:51

Saw Boris asking about stats: here is the link from the last thread but it seems locked these days so couldn't update for anyone.

loopylou1984 · 04/12/2015 18:43

Hmm I guess I need to update my stats.

#####Sanmylou, 30 Sad,ttc 1, cycle God only knows, just over 2 years trying. One failed frozen embryo transfer#####

We have a consultant appointment booked for 15th December to discuss possible implantation issues and also our nhs referral. Xx

Rainy34 · 04/12/2015 19:02

Sorry Af got you Soda, she always seems to get me in the middle of the night too, where you are in pain and know that you should get up and get paracetamol but just don't want to move!!,

I too started off not drinking any alcohol and as time was getting on month after month Af turning up and not drinking , not buying any clothes just in the off chance i got lucky and would not fit into them, I decided for my own sanity that i would start buying clothes that i wanted and drink too, if not i would not have coped, saying that i am only going to start letting myself have one or two since i am on climid this month i don't want to ruin any chances and if it does not work then when we get the chance for IVF i will really scale down, i think allowing yourself have one or two and be sensible won't do any harm!!

Sodasoda · 05/12/2015 00:04

Thanks rainy. I'm exactly like you re clothes! I've kept thinking 'no point getting new trousers as I'll be getting maternity stuff soon'. Today I went and had a bit of retail therapy Smile

I'm going to carry on and have a drink when I feel like it at the moment. A glass of wine certainly softens the blow of AF!

Glad you've got next steps pencilled in sammy xx

Hi ladies, sorry I've been absent this cycle. With fertility tests starting I was trying to keep calm and stay away a bit as I wanted to just get through the tests and find out what the problem was.

My day 21 bloods were normal but I'd been feeling odd in that I had no symptoms.

In a moment of madness, I peed on a FRER at 8dpo and got a v v faint positive. Now at 10dpo I've got a slightly stronger positive - no squinting required. So it looks like I'm upduffed.

AF due tomorrow so won't truly believe it until I'm late.

loopylou1984 · 05/12/2015 08:14

Kir!! Omg! Tentative congratulations!! Xx

Kirjava · 05/12/2015 08:43

Thanks so much sammy.

How are you doing lovely? X

loopylou1984 · 05/12/2015 08:49

I'm ok, I feel a bit like I'm in a bubble and just watching life from in there - like my life's on hold.

Day to day I'm alright, I'm just trying not to think too far in to the future because that future without a child terrifies me.

Can we have your stats? Xx

Flybynight1 · 05/12/2015 08:52

Kir that is the most wonderful news!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Were you trying trying this cycle or going with the flow? Either way, it's amazing news!!! Smile
