Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

Best wishes,
K x

I don't get any ovulation pains either but I used opks last month and got a
Positive so least I know I ovulate, stopped using them this cycle cuz i was getting to obsessed and was too much pressure on myself!

Welcome missclarke, my oh was the same at the start, he just said to me 'get your coil out' and we didn't really talk about TTC for the first couple of months, but it's been getting me down lately and we have a lovely chat today and he opened up about it.

Any news ljomrs??

Xx

Pixie1988 · 28/10/2015 21:09

Hi everyone!

I have been reading this thread (quite obsessively) for a couple of days and catching up. Congrats to all the ladies who are already preggers!

I am new to mums net and this is my first post.

My husband and I have been married for almost 5 years and we are now TTC. I think I missed the window this month as when I checked the calendar it was the last day of the fertile window.

I haven't used any ovulation tests and was not planning to?? Is anyone else opting to not use the tests and just see what happens?

Good luck!!

meg180611 · 29/10/2015 18:10

Hi!

Wanting to join in on the convo too...ttc #1 at the mo, not using ovulation test but using a couple of different ov apps! Seem to be all saying the same thing so hoping we have no trouble in conceiving!

Xx

MrsBac83 · 29/10/2015 19:03

Hi each
I'm not using ovulation tests, just an app to track period etc. My first month I obsessed about trying to dtd on the right days and found myself getting the hump with hubby if he wasn't up for it. (Hardly the right atmosphere for convincing him) This month I've tried to forget about it (kind of) and just see what happens. Although I'm vaguely aware I think we've missed the fertile window unfortunately. Next month it is then. Good luck all.

XL · 30/10/2015 00:59

Hi both and welcome Smile unfortunately I am using opk and had a positive today so am on track! Will continue to dtd and see what happens. Good luck everyone this month! x

I am however tempted to use the ovulation sticks at least once to check I am ovulating. Maybe I'm being thick but if you have a regular period does that mean you are definitely ovulating?? At the beginning of the year I had some blood tests to test for PCOS (long story but basically i was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at 21 and had major surgery etc. Left my body heavily traumatised). I had been suffering from dryness down there TMI since my op and was on the pill. My bloods were all fine except PROLACTIN levels which were raised. This can be due to PCOS or something as simple as stress. It was tested twice and both raised but because my periods have been pretty regular they decided not to test further and leave it until we TTC. Thankfully the dryness I was experiencing got much better when I came off the pill.

redstrawberries101 · 30/10/2015 08:01

Which apps is everyone using? I have 'iperiod'

Paige43 · 30/10/2015 09:14

Morning all,

Melvali i think that even with regular cycles and even with positive OPs it doesn't mean you are ovulating. Only sure way to know is via an ultrascan (not exactly practical to get one of those every month). Hope you are successful soon!

I use Fertility Friend - my fertility window was meant to have closed on Tuesday however last night while at dinner with DH i got really bad cramps in my sides like OV pains. Did a OP when got home and got a positive. So looks like my app may have been out and my cycle is longer this month.

Good luck everyone x

Morning All,

Welcome to the new TTC ladies.

:-( to all those who have had AF arrive, good luck for next time.

My AF is due Monday but my ovia app has been telling me to take a pregnancy test for days as this month I did us a OPK as i wasn't sure I was ovulating and wanted to check.

I've been getting cramps the last few days so I think she is on her way.

I'm not planning to use OPK again immediately as we are both still quite relaxed about the process for now.

Wasn't an implantation bleed was it ljomrs?

Melvali im using ovia it's pretty good and readjusts itself dependant upon the data you input. Nothing other than either uss or blood tests can determine whether or not you are actually ovulating but I guess the opks are a start! Good luck x

ljomrs have you recently come off any kind of birth control? I was on the pill for years and years and since stopping my periods have been light and short although getting heavier month by month while my body readjusts.

redstrawberries101 · 30/10/2015 19:13

Thanks guys. I am quite sure the docs said my bloods were fine , including ovulation, EXCEPT prolactin which they said isn't conclusive anyway. Out of interest (I have a copy of my blood results), does anyone know the blood test name for ovulation?

XL · 31/10/2015 00:58

Hi melvali its progesterone they use for looking at ovulation

Annie0369 · 01/11/2015 10:54

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been on her for ages I typically had AF visit and a rotten cold both at the same time Confused

Hello to everyone that's joined, I use the Ovia app and think it's really good, I have a couple of weeks till my next window so healthy eating, no drink and lots of rest for me!

Hope everyone's ok xx

redstrawberries101 · 01/11/2015 14:16

Can I ask a really silly question? What does AF stand for?

redstrawberries101 · 01/11/2015 14:17

I know it's your period!
