Hi everyone,

Here's our shiny new thread continuing from the old 'who wants to buddy up' thread (sorry, don't know how to link). I'm sure some regulars will be along in a minute and also anyone else who is ttc and would like some company is very welcome to join- we're very friendly!

issie a perfect example of why temping is more accurate and easier to read- last cycle i ovulated cd14. This is cd14 and opk completely blank. Two days ago there was a tiny hint of a line, like REALLY tiny and so if i wasn't temping I might think I had missed ovulation (Which is easy to do if only pos once a day, i do twice a day which is a costly business but hey i am older and need to get on this!!) However my temp has never gone above 36.1 this cycle which is my coverline (coverline is the line you draw once you see a pattern with temping, my temp is consistently under 36.1 infact it is usually around 35.7 before i ovulate. After ovulation my temp is consistently above 36.1, usually around 36.3.)
So in short temping takes away that uncertainty. It also told me last month at cd28 the spotting was definitely af as my temp dropped to 35.8. If it was implantation bleeding my temp would have stayed up. Does that all make sense?
Temping is very informative and absolutely the best way to see what is going on.

shoos gosh I think I'm going to need to read up on this whole temping thing, it sounds complicated

Mrs1986 · 23/06/2015 16:51

Well that's me sold shoes! My reasoning was that it would be cheaper than buying opks! If no bfp next week I will buy one and let you know how I get on!xx

Issie339 · 23/06/2015 17:04

Can anyone recommend a thermometer that works well? Just been on Amazon and feeling a bit Confused

OP posts:
inmyshoos · 23/06/2015 17:56

Something like the-
Daffodil HPC300 - Digital Medical Thermometer - Accurate and Mercury Free Fever Measurement.

This is similar to what i use. Take temp orally or vaginally. Once you choose you need to stick with taking it that way for accuracy. I take mine orally just because it is easier. I set alarm ten mins before i am due to get up so taking it orally is less of a faff. Taking it vaginally is apparently more accurate.

Hello, was feeling a bit down yesterday about moving on to another cycle, think it was because OH is now away so it was my first opportunity since AF arrived this time to be by myself and let myself feel a bit meh about it all. When AF did arrive I was instantly thinking of next cycle and about how we could try harder, and what could we do differently, and then yesterday I'd gone the other way and was thinking I probably should just try to stop thinking about it and let it happen when it happens, have sex when we feel like it and dont bother if we dont feel in the mood etc even if its an "important" day. Now im not sure what is the right approach, I need to get it to be ok in my head that this could take a while and thats normal and ok. So that's where im basically at now on CD6.

Issie where have you acquired this will power from not to be testing daily????!!!! Did I read you were planning to test again next week??!!

Oh an i did buy a thermometer, I used it twice and then it wanted a new battery, so it went in the drawer and I dont think its coming out again, because it takes me a very long time to get around to doing things like getting stuff batteries. if you saw how many stopped clocks there are in my house you would understand

Issie339 · 23/06/2015 19:20

Thanks shoos I'll get that one.

violet I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down hun, sending hugs. It's so hard ttc, especially when it takes a while. I think it's the constant rollercoaster that's the hardest part isn't it. I just keep reminding myself how many people I know who took 8,10,12 months+ to conceive- I know loads. You've only been trying 3 months hun, that's really no time at all so you should defo not be stressing. I'm feeling exactly the same, plus am stressed about my cycle now and that there's something wrong with me, but I'm just trying to stay positive- I've had one child so there's really no reason I can't have another.

The reason I'm not dying to test is that I just know I'm not pregnant, I did a FR test day AF was due and was bfn and it says on the pack it's 99% accurate day of AF so that's that really. Onwards and upwards

Mrs1986 · 23/06/2015 20:03

Thanks Shoos - will definitely buy that one!

Sorry to hear you're so down Violet.
I think what's really important is that you focus on the positives of everything else you've got going on in life. That way, it's not all about ttc. I think we get put under enough pressure when ttc, the last thing you wanna do is make dtd all about it. I think you're idea about relaxing and enjoying the dtd is just perfect! Xx

Mrs1986 · 23/06/2015 20:04

*your. Please ignore my typos etc - I really am very literate usually!!

Mrs1986 · 23/06/2015 20:06

Issie - I'm with you. Temping sounds like rocket science!!

Sparksflyx · 23/06/2015 20:18

Thanks Duck!, we've had a few times of no protection so Iv been on total peeing on sticks frenzies this past few weeks ????

Violet, aw I hope you feel better soon, It must be such a horrible feeling, hopefully things pick up for you, positive thoughts equal positive things happening??

Sending love n hugs xx

Mrs1986 · 23/06/2015 22:08

Well duck I have had tender boobs for a couple of days- but nothing major.
Today I've had a pain in my side but I haven't read anything in to it as I don't think it's where my ovaries are or anything. It's a bit like a constipation pain x

chocfireguard · 24/06/2015 09:09

Welcome sparks! I don't know about you, but for me, when you're ttc is when you realise what a total idiot you were being every time you panicked outrageously at a slight contraception mishap between the ages of 16-26 (or 20 in your case...Feeling old!).

violet so sorry you've been down... It's such turmoil, all the symptom spotting (even when not symptom spotting, it's still there in the back of the mind) and waiting, and the fact that there's such a small window and it comes around so infrequently. Stick with it....as issie says, 3 months really isn't long to have been ttc. I know it doesn't take away from the frustration though Flowers

duck, love the origin of your name! Well, I don't eat wheat, and it would seem that the only things that don't make me nauseous are... pasta, crackers, pie, quiche.... Oops!

I never actually new that AF was Auntie Flo...Blush

There's no such thing as a false positive lovely! Only a false negative! CongratulationsGrinGrin if you still want to be sure, do another tomorrow, first pee of the day!

It's still early on so your hormone level will be lowish!
my best friend took till week 9 to find out she was pregnant because her hormone was low and kept coming back negative..even though she knew she was pregnant! Xxx

Sparksflyx · 24/06/2015 11:12

Choc, I totally get that ???????? you do feel silly but I guess the stressing about it part only prolongs the not getting pregnant part!!
Please don't feel old ???? you're on,u as old as you feel ????????

I only found out AF was auntie Flo yesterday!
Sorry for my spam of posts, I got rather excited when I seen ducks BFP!

Thanks for being so welcoming ladies! ??xxx

chocfireguard · 24/06/2015 11:51

duck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoop!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations lovely!!!!!!!! Xxx

Belle888 · 24/06/2015 12:14

Hi girls hope you don't mind me joining but I have a question which I think may be a bit TMI but I've been watching your thread and you all seem to know what's going on so hopefully you can give me some wisdom! Ok so I stopped taking my pill and counting from the first day of my withdrawal bleed I'm CD30 so I was expecting an AF (my periods have always been very regular before taking the pill) or a BFP! But today I have a fair amount of CM and I know this IS tmi but it's quite large clumps. Now should I take this as a sign of ovulation and my cycle is longer this month or could it be a sign of anything else? Or does it mean nothing at all Hmm? Any advice appreciated! X

Yay for duck!! Congrats hun!!
Will you stay on the thread? Hopefully you and choc will bring us luck!
Belle - welcome! Agree with duck on the apps - they'll certainly help. I have 3 apps and they all say slightly different things as I'm only on cycle 2 so my body is still getting to know itself!

Talking symptom spotting, I woke up this morning with a huge, unexplainable bruise on my thigh. I'm not gonna lie- I considered whether that could be a symptom! Haha
