The Rules of Bumsnet

  1. Don't talk about Bumsnet
  2. Get the sperm in the hole
  3. Don't LPB. It's frowned upon.

Morning! Smile

Still full of snot here - lovely! Where does it all come from? I'm going out in the garden today although we have a researcher staying in our other flat atm which means she shares our garden with us...ugh. I can't be arsed to speak to anyone with the way I am feeling but she is already sat outside...yesterday I actually saw her pick her nose and eat it. Gross!!

Anyway...

All this talk of cruelty to animals makes me Sad I can't stand it. We are also going out to Spain for a wedding and making a holiday out of it in August. They have so many stray cats and dogs here in Sarajevo and we have heard horrendous stories of cruelty here. Bloody awful. I would like to do to those people what they do to the suffering animals Angry and if I saw anything happening I wouldn't sit back and ignore it....

Night I agree that flashing smileys don't always mean ovulation is imminent. I once had 8 flashing smileys before peak. I love that you will pack Dreamies to take to Spain!! Our fur baby loves Dreamies! She goes mad for them, just like on the advert!

Hair Wow, Far East? How long are you out there for? Are you enjoying it?

Eskimo if it helps, I once got a peak on CD22... I admire how passionately you clearly feel about the Spanish Greyhounds. It is people like you who make such a difference to these animals lives xxxx

Spinning sounds as though you are having a lovely time - hope your dh didn't return too late!! Think of all the vitamin D you are getting!

Pug so glad your body is recovering, take care of yourself

nightandthelight · 14/05/2015 10:51

Moirara Dizzy near Alicante I believe :) Sorry to hear that you are so down, keep going though chuck, you will get there!

My cats go crazy for Dreamies Tessie!

Woolly84 · 14/05/2015 12:05

dizzynorthern I know what you mean, I'm 5 months in too, despite the rational side of my brain thinking I shouldn't worry yet, the arrival of AF is still utterly shite and gets me down a lot - remember it is partly hormones as well, let them pass and fx you'll feel much better in a couple of days. We will all get there! Smile
Thanks for looking at my chart too x yes, I too look forward to waking up and temping!! Haha. DH is usually awake too so his first words to me each morning nowadays are "what's the temp like today?" I mumble the temp (precisely to 2 decimal places of course) and then we both go back to sleep!

tessie ugh about the nose picking! Hmm

DizzyMerry · 14/05/2015 12:21

I hate cruelty towards animals. It makes me so angry and I'm truly shocked to hear about the Spanish Greyhounds eskimo. It's great that you are highlighting this and supporting the charity. Will be taking a look later.

Dizzy and woolly It's difficult to go through this facing disappointment each month but you will get there. As woolly says it's partly hormones and we manage to pick ourselves up a day or so after AF. It will happen so keep going Flowers

Pug thinking of you Flowers

loopylou1984 · 14/05/2015 14:04

Sitting in the waiting room for my appointment - I'm really nervous but I'm not sure why! Xx

glitteryflange · 14/05/2015 14:28

You'll be fine sammy. Positive thoughts! ????????

Hairstylisttoboris · 14/05/2015 15:24

sammy how did you get on?

Have there been any updates from melon that I might've missed?

MelonMelon · 14/05/2015 15:38

No I'm still here! AF is a day late and I'm poas tomorrow. Not getting excited as last month I was 12 days late Confused

lucieloos · 14/05/2015 15:44

Good luck Sammy x

Hairstylisttoboris · 14/05/2015 15:52

melon that must be pretty tough. Good for you for holding of testing too much. BFNs stink.

I'm about to get on a plane and think AF might be coming. Boooo.

MelonMelon · 14/05/2015 15:58

Safe travels boris

I'm seeing my GP with DH next Wednesday to discuss my 21 day bloods which now seems futile as if my AF doesn't come then what I thought was CD21 obviously wasn't!

Hairstylisttoboris · 14/05/2015 16:00

Thanks melon I'll wait for an update tomorrow. :)

Woolly84 · 14/05/2015 16:12

How did it go sammy?

boris safe journey, throw AF out the damn plane, how dare she intrude Hmm

melon got my fx for you!

loopylou1984 · 14/05/2015 17:18

Thanks for asking Glittery, Boris, Lucie and Woolly. It was fine, it was just a follow up consultation from the HyCoSy. He basically ran through the IVF procedure, explained a bit more about the embryo glue and embryoscope and told me I needed an AMH blood test (which I then had straight after the appointment £90!!) and a HIV test which I haven't had yet. DH needs that too and it'll cost £150 each privately. The problem is he said the NHS probably won't do it until nearer the 2 year mark, and we can't store our embies at the private clinic until we've had the test!
I can get my AMH results tomorrow and he said it needs to be higher than 5.5 so fingers crossed.

He said he's not sure its worth using the embryoscope at my age as it only increases your chances by 6.6% - its £775, what would you all do?
I think we'll go for the embryo glue as this increases chances by 10% and is only £100.

Melon I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, and Boris sorry it feels like AFs on her way. Xx

purdiepie · 14/05/2015 17:19

My train has been cancelled and there won't be another for 1.5hrs. What a treat.

I stopped peeing in Clearblue pots the day I got my static smiley. Is this correct or should I have continued peering? Help!

purdiepie · 14/05/2015 17:23

Sammy, how old are you? If your amh is excellent I wouldn't bother with the embryoscope.

purdiepie · 14/05/2015 17:24

Ignore that. European clinics using young women as donors still recommend the scope.

loopylou1984 · 14/05/2015 17:39

I'm 29 Purdie. The consultant said if it was his daughter he'd say don't bother but if it was his wife (who's in her 40s) then he would. Gah! I don't know!!

He said I'll probably get about 15 follies if AMH is good and so will probably feel 'a bit bloated' - how bad is it? I'd rather be prepared.

I asked if he thought we should wait and see if the HyCoSy has done any good and he said maybe a couple of cycles.... Well I'm pretty much at ov this cycle anyway so that's one down. I think we'll get on with it as soon as they'll have us. Xx

loopylou1984 · 14/05/2015 17:39

Rubbish about the train... Is there a bus? Or are you stuck? Xx

ibeka · 14/05/2015 17:46

Glad the appointment went well, sammy. I don't know enough about these things to be able to advise properly but is the cheaper option has a better improvement rate I would go for that.

wooly I reckon cd17 too.... Welcome to the two week wait.

eskimo It sounds like Spain have more barbarous traditions. But I guess individuals treatments of animals varies from place to place. I was shocked, for example, at the number of strays in Rome whereas the area of Spain I lived in had none and the guy I lived with brushed his cat's coat 50 strokes a day and only fed it fresh fish!!! Even here I hear horrible stories. My brother is a vet and occasionally has to report owners to the police. It makes my blood boil Angry. And as for the Tories repealing the fox hunting law.... Good on you for supporting the Galgos. I think (hope) attitudes are changing across Europe and hopefully it won't be long before theses things are a thin of the past.

tessie sorry you're still poorly. Have a Brew

dizzy sorry you're feeling low. What can you do to pick yourself up a bit? A nice meal? A creative project?

bozza, welcome home.

What is this clearblue thing lots of you are doing? Will it make me preggers?

loopylou1984 · 14/05/2015 17:52

Ibeka it's not a case of one or the other we can do both if we want. So will def go for the 'cheap' embryo glue, i just don't know about the scope. Need to discuss with dh and the nursing team when we go back. Xx

loopylou1984 · 14/05/2015 17:52

Ooh and all I know about the clear lie trial is you have to keep your wee in the fridge! Xx

Pixa · 14/05/2015 18:26

Spinning I hate waiting for AF to finish. I have attached a picture for your amusement. Grin CD9 here. We are aiming for EOD this month but will see how the mood strikes us!

Juney you sound so smitten! It's lovely. Smile

Sammy good sex is always great news! Smile I always say this but I genuinely wish I was more knowledgeable so I could give better advice regarding the embryoscope. Regarding the Clear Blue Trial, keeping your wee in the fridge is the only thing I have picked up on too. Ha ha.

Ibeka Yay for angry pubes!

Eskimo it's never bribery; it's positive reinforcements. Ha ha.

Thanks DizzyNorth I am so looking forward to the break. It will be the wrong time of the month if I don't get my bfp whilst TTCing, but professionally it was the best week for both of us. I really need a break! Work has heaped on a whole lot of pressure. I wanted to tell you that you're not alone in feeling that disappointment, it's not easy when AF arrives regardless of where you are in the TTC journey. Just remember Sparkly's advice to me; you are one cycle closer than you were before! Flowers

Night My fingers are crossed that you get a few days of the right type of smiley

Glittery I think we are cycle buddies this month!

Melon Fingers crossed for you.

Boris Have a safe flight.

Purdie Trains that aren't punctual absolutely vex me. I am not a fan of being delayed.

Today was DHs docs appointment and I have to say that I love that man so very much. His doc agreed with mine, so DH is to do a SA as soon as possible. DH was on the phone updating me today and said "When are you ovulating though? I don't want to miss this month if we have to abstain". I was supportive and told him that if he would rather get his SA out of the way then this month can wait, but he didn't want to ruin our chances this month. He is so sweet and I feel unbelievably lucky. I just hope I can be the supportive wife he needs over the next week or two.

What is everyone having (or what has everyone had) for tea this evening? Any lovely weekend plans? Smile

ThePug · 14/05/2015 18:53

Updating from the end backwards as it's easier:

Pixa Your DH is such a sweetheart. How long does he have to abstain before the SA? If you're only on CD9 can he not get that popped off (literally!) early next week? I am making homemade curry, rice & naan bread tonight. I wish it would make itself and be ready on a plate for me to eat now though!

ibeka Have you recovered from your school trip ordeal?! I get stressed out trying to cross central London on my own never mind with a bunch of difficult teenagers!

sammy Glad you're getting seen quickly. I'm not sure I would spend the extra £700 for an increased 6% on the first try. What are the odds overall, with the extra 10% from the £100 glue?

purdie I hate that you are stranded waiting for a train to take you home to NP. What a crappy start to your weekend. I hope you are almost on your way home now and will be greeted with cuddles

Woolly I hope CoC is going to make it into the next thread title/OP. I'd say you prob ov'd CD17 too. When I first started temping again I found I kept waking up early (and I never do this) thinking about taking my temp!

Boris I hope you didn't choose to wear your white linen trousers on the flight! Any good films this time? At least you are on your way home now and can look forward to hopefully an illness-free next cycle to give you a better shot at it

DizzyN Brew and Cake for you

In pugworld the big news is we had proper CoC with inside spunking last night for the first time since mc. I was weirdly nervous about it beforehand but have already asked told DH we should do it again tomorrow and maybe all weekend if the CM is right. Back in the game!
