Wow, the list makes depressing reading, when I joined the berries I'd been ttc 14 months and most others were around the same, now the vast majority of us are over 3 years in! Time we all won our prize and moved on I think! Grin

Thank you for he lovely new thread Happy. I confess to having hung back and not wanting to take on the crucially important task of starting the new thread myself, so much respect and appreciation to you for getting it done. ^^

I like this charabanc, I feel that we are really going places in our own inimitable style. Toot! Toot!

The FC just rang and seven eggs fertilised so hurray! They ended up with ten mature eggs and seven have made it to fertilisation. I'm very pleased with that. Just getting some fertilised feels like a big step. Plus it's about four more than I had dared hope for at this stage.

WildflowerMarmalade · 26/02/2015 10:45

Oh Beaky I think you were asking when they will freeze. The embryologist said they'll take them to day three then freeze. Once they are defrosted for the FET cycle they take them on to day five blastocyst, choose the best and refreeze the rest.

How was your op Beaky? Hope it went ok and is now one less thing for you to worry about.

Smidge, if you are reading, I just want you to know that I am thinking of you and hoping that you have had a good follow up with AliG and have some thoughts on next steps. Flowers

7! woohoo! Barry was clearly working overtime last night Grin.

Gillster · 26/02/2015 11:09

Excellent work Wild, glad you're getting this thread off to a positive start.

Love the title Happy, sterling work. Grin

IamKuma · 26/02/2015 13:54

Thanks for the new thread. Just poking my head in, not been around much during these last couple of months on the pill, just too depressing. Booking scan for 12 March and hoping cysts have pushed off and we can finally get moving.

Wild - great news about the fertilisation rate! I looked up your consultant but it's not the same person who is supposed to be overseeing my cycle.

When will they improve this crappy phone app? They were hiring developers months ago so you would have thought they could have done something by now!

beakybeak · 26/02/2015 15:22

Woohoo Wild that's fantastic! So 2 more days then the big freeze. I bet you feel very relieved to get to this point, I'm over the moon things have gone so well for you Grin

Kuma not long for the scan then, everything crossed for you that you get the go ahead - finally! I use mn in a safari page as I find it works much better than the app.

I had my skin thing surgery this morning, it was actually awful and I cried afterwards Blush I'm such a numpty. Luckily it was in the corridor on the way out so the nurses didn't see! I don't know why it affected me like that though, it wasn't like it was a surprise or anything went wrong!

Smidge also thinking of you and MrS Flowers hope he has recovered from his op. Have you had your follow up yet?

Happy when is your follow up?

Minx did you say your consultant appointment was this week?

Barking I'm really excited for you starting so soon! Have you got your drugs etc? Are you all prepared? I have a good feeling about this cycle Smile

barkingtreefrog · 26/02/2015 18:48

kuma agreed on the app.

beaky I'm sorry about the op, I sometimes find that just being in a hospital gets me emotional. I have many bad associations with hospitals, both for reasons I've been there myself and involving others, and I don't have any happy ones!

I've had my drugs lesson and have my sharps bin and trigger stuff, the actual drugs I collect after the day 2 scan. Just hoping AF arrives by next weekend!

I was asked today about a retreat we're going on at work. It's basically two days in a hotel where the company gets together to review the year and make plans for the next. It's management only on the first day, then we stay overnight. The boss's PA asked me today if I had any objections to sharing a room with A, B or C. The four of us will be in twin rooms. But person B will be almost 8 months pg, and I will be at the end of my IVF cycle and going absolutely insane wondering whether our last chance to be biological parents has worked. I do NOT want to share a hotel room with a woman who is 8 months pg. But I don't want to explain my reasons why to the PA as it's none of her business. So I had to just say no, don't mind sharing with any if them.... Angry.
Pg colleague I've known for years and she knows I find her bump difficult but she struggled with her 1st (this is her 3rd) and had a mc, so she understands (she knows my story). I was hoping for my sake she'd specifically ask to share with one of the others but I guess I'll find out. Part of me wants to drive home (it's less than an hour) so I don't have to stay away from DH in the last days before OTD.

beakybeak · 26/02/2015 18:55

Barking that sounds super tricky. Tbh they should probably give her her own room at that point anyway! I would keep your options open with driving home if you need to, you can always say you forgot something or are ill.

happylass · 26/02/2015 19:38

Beaky sorry to hear about the op. Hope you're feeling better now. Take care Flowers
Barking that is a tricky one. Hate the situations TTC puts us in. I had to tell my optician about the IVF last week as she was really concerned that my eyes are very dry and kept banging on about it. I suspected it may have been all the drugs so I told all and turns out I was right.
Wild great news on the fertilisation. Hope you're recovering well from EC
Beaky our follow up is next Wednesday. We've also booked a consultation with the Baby Farm reflexology woman on the same day to see what she has to offer. Am guessing it's going to be pricey though as she needs to treat both of us.
Was called for a smear today. Bloody typical! Was actually hoping for a month where someone didn't want to look at my fanjo!! Oh well.....

OP posts:
tigerdog · 26/02/2015 20:13

beaky glad to hear the op went ok. These things can be a bit of an emotional ordeal so make sure you take care of yourself and DH looks after you. Flowers

Great news wild it sounds like things are going really well!

happy lol at the continued fanjo rummaging although bummer at having to have a smear. My FC insisted that I had mine before ivf. Hope the reflexology appointment goes well. I think a bit of alternative therapy is great not that it's gotten me pg just to feel like you're trying something.

Ooh barking you're well on the way! I'm due af on 8 March then stabbing starting 21 days after that so I won't be too far behind you. I don't have any scans or appointments until I've been downregging for 2.5 weeks.

Fingers crossed for you kuma, hoping those cysts have done one.

Hope everyone else is ok. Not much to report here, just working away and putting plans in place for ivf, booking time off, acu appointments etc. Seem to have loads of plans revolving around visiting friends with babies Hmm atm but I guess it's hard to avoid.

beakybeak · 26/02/2015 21:33

Oh unlucky Happy, sometimes we need the break from fanjo rummaging! Having said that I nearly took my jeans off at the hospital this morning Blush Hopefully you get a good plan for the frostie.

Tiger glad things are going well for you, and that's not much longer to wait to start the IVF too. I hope I won't be far behind you with my next cycle. Any sign of MrT relocating yet?

Jelliebabe2 · 26/02/2015 21:46

Wild! Hooray! That is really a fantabulous result! You go girl!

Kuma! Do we need some anti cyst pompomming action?!?!?! Warming up just in case!

Barking! Hope the room situ sorts itself out okay... I'd be tempted to go home too!

Beaky sorry you found today traumatic. I had a wart like thing off my eyelid once and ci remember being really scared and running out after putting my top on (nurse in pursuit) saying "mum were going home now!". V embarrassing AND I looked like Gabrielle for a week with a patch on!

Loving and feeling very honoured at being immortalised in the thread title! Grin

Smidge001 · 27/02/2015 00:19

Hi everyone. Sorry for radio silence over the past few days. Thanks Wild and Beaky. MrSmidge and I went away for 3 nights to a gorgeous house in the countryside for some rest & recuperation. In theory after his nose op, but I think I was in as much need mentally. It was just what we needed. We read books, had morning & afternoon naps, played scrabble ate and had a bottle of vino each night. Oh and saw kangaroos in the garden! also several tearful moments but all in the name of getting over it

Gill thanks for updating my stats. You are so good at keeping track of everyone!

Jellie I am so excited for you! Might twins be a possibility with that level of HCG so soon?! Can't wait to hear the next result. Can't believe how quickly it's possible to go from all this life of planning, attempts, etc to suddenly having that BFP! Can you remind me what you'd tried yourself before going down the donor egg route? I don't think I'm there yet mentally but perhaps I need to consider opening my mind to the idea a bit more. Ooh and do you get to find out more about your donor now you have the BFP?

Wild HUGE congratulations on your egg haul and fertilisation rate! Now you can sit back and recover for a while, yes? Do they start stimming you again immediately next month, or do you have a break inbetween?

Beaky agree with others I'm not surprised you found it a bit upsetting Flowers. Glad it's done though now - I think we should really only have to deal with one thing at a time.

AliG kept on not calling ... (Every day I was told she'd call but then it wouldn't happen) but finally she did on Wednesday. (After an embarrassing chase up call by me to the annoying secretary, in which I actually said 'AliG didn't call again yesterday'. Yup, MrSmidge heard me call her AliG and I realised as soon as it came out of my mouth and had to try to ignore it and carry on!!)

Anyway. Our debrief went along the lines of the fact she thinks we still should be able to get pregnant and that it's just a numbers game. At my age she says 25% of blastocysts make it to a successful pregnancy and we've only had 3 attempts so far, so she is leaning towards our issue being the embryo quality rather than implantation (despite history of immune issues and testing high for NK cells in the biopsy). She recommends when we do our frozen embryo that I have another intralipid infusion, and take the Clexane after transfer, but reckons another scratch probably isn't worthwhile (happy about that) and up to me if I want to use the predisolone. Personally she thought not to, but is happy for me to go ahead if I want. I'm in two minds - I like the idea of less intervention/drugs/hormones etc but at the same time do feel implantation must be part of the problem given we've never had a sniff of a BFP in all the time of trying. Can't just be about getting the healthy egg can it?

Anyway, I think we're going to give it a break for a couple of months now to try to let my body get back into the swing of a natural cycle. My first after IVF is always a bit screwy.

I asked her again about the bleeding and she is still unconcerned, given I've had the laparoscopy and she confirmed my progesterone levels were high throughout the 2ww. Possibly the Clexane is making me more prone to bleed plus the pessaries might be irritating my cervix. (I don't actually believe this as it feels just like my normal pre menstrual feelings, but it's always nice to be reassured)

Smidge001 · 27/02/2015 00:21
