Do you love being elbow deep in your cervix? Can you tell your cream from your egg? No, we're not talking Cadbury, we're talking vadge juice. Come and join the fingering fillies on our flight of fecundity (see what I did there?).

Ooh I think real you sounds more beautiful than dream you victoria. Going to shut up now before you think I'm hitting on you Blush

lucieloos · 15/02/2015 08:25

Morning! Yes spinning its £249 at Gennet for one or £800 at Reprofit for 3. I wouldn't have it done if we had less than 3 as I want to have 2 put back anyway so would take my chances with them. I think it's better to have it done on day 5 as it's less invasive for the embryo and therefore less risk damaging anything. Also sometimes a lot can change in those 2 days.

I read with Gennet that they freeze and transfer on the next cycle which is fine as they say that something like 97% of embryos survive the freeze now with the vitrification technique but the testing can be done in 24 hours so a lot of clinics don't bother with freezing and transfer on day 6. I'm going to contact Reprofit and see what their policy is. It does seem a brilliant thing to have done though. I was reading about one lady who said that she had 3 blasts to choose from and one of them looked amazing and top quality, really stood out from the others and this was the one they were going to transfer but luckily they had the testing and it showed chromosomal damage so would have ended in miscarriage, they went with one of the others and she got her bfp!

Wink at night

spinningirl10 · 15/02/2015 08:31

Purdey, I was sure it said day 3 for the genetic testing but might be wrong, it's quite commonSmile
Sorry you're still feeling rough, hope you get to church. Could you leave Nancy with dh or does he go with you?

Mummy, hope you get some better news today for your fil Thanks

Victoria, I know you've talked to dh before but could you maybe have another chat. Is he 100% with you on wanting a baby? How's he doing with cutting down on the cigs? If he's taking his vitamins maybe that will be enough to improve his sperm.

Juney, fx for a stronger opk line for you today.

spinningirl10 · 15/02/2015 08:34

Lucie, I think the genetic testing for me at my age is amazing. I would like 2 back in but I'm sure I read that gennet only like to put one back?

lucieloos · 15/02/2015 08:45

Looking at Gennet again I think that they will only test and put back in the same cycle if you have 8 or more to test because of the cost involved in analysis otherwise they say that you have to freeze them and they will do it in the next 30 days.

I agree spinning I think genetic testing would definitely be worthwhile for you. It would save a lot of time and money in the long run. They recommend it for all women over 37 and I think it's really seen as the future of ivf. I read somewhere that transferring a blasto increases your chance of success by 10% and having the genetic screening added another 15% so that's 25% added onto any success rate. They reckon that in 5 years time genetic screening will be commonplace and part of most ivf packages.

lucieloos · 15/02/2015 09:01

I'm not sure of the number Gennet will transfer but most places go on age. If you are under 35 they really only like to transfer one but over 40 they definitely transfer 2 and in some cases 3.

Another thing to ask for is embryo glue where they soak the embryos is a special solution before replacing which again increases chances of implantation.

If you are hoping to go with Gennet within the next 6 months then I would recommend you get in touch with them and book in a consultation now as there is a wait of 4 months for that.

Sorry af has arrived victoria and pikz Hmm

purdeybirdie · 15/02/2015 09:20

Ha! I'm loving your description of yourself, Vic! You sound very beautiful to me. How I wish I were all arms and legs (actually, not the arms..I don't want to look like Clyde from Th'Only Way Is Spunk). Victoria, it makes me feel sad when you talk of the place you are stuck in (fertility-wise) with an unhelpful and disinterested husband with poor sperm. I dare you to mention donor sperm to him. Go on..I dare you...

Thanks purds, horrible when they're poorly, but he has just nicked his dad's toast and waddled off giggling so think he is on the mend. . Hope your cold is better. Here, have some toast, making loads for the boys while my porridge brews in the microwave.

Aw no, we lost a few good women to af last night. Sorry coffee, vic and pikes and any others.

We are off to choose carpets. I have a mega crush on carpet salesman near us. He is not a lo

loopylou1984 · 15/02/2015 09:35

Morning all - I have a bit of a lay in and it takes 20 minutes to read Back!

Had a lovely evening with dh last night, followed by valentines dtd! So Purdey, now I just have to convince him that 2 days in a row is what's needed!

I posted earlier about my concerns over his morphology but I think it got buried.... If it was 3% first test and 5% in second should I be worried? The bottom of the letter advises a retest but no one at gps told us that, they just said the result was normal.

Our specialist wasn't even bothered when it was 3 (I assume as count, motility etc we're all high), but should I be pushing this? X

Giddymamma · 15/02/2015 09:35

Oops... Oker, but he is full of warmth and humour and goodness just twinkles out of his blue eyes. Oh is aware of crush and let's me do all talking to him. Grin

Giddymamma · 15/02/2015 09:36

Bonus apostrophe there for anyone who needs one.

Giddymamma · 15/02/2015 09:37

Sorry sammy, crossed post. Not ignoring you, know nowt, hope someone can assist. X

loopylou1984 · 15/02/2015 09:40

No worries Giddy - good luck with the carpet shopping! X

purdeybirdie · 15/02/2015 09:48

Aww, thanks, Boosk. I like your charts; they are completely stable and pretty, no? I'm afraid I can't have a duvet day as I have Jamie Oliver's dark and sticky lamb stew to make. Well...I don't have to, but I keep dreaming about the last time I made it and it was sumptuous.

juneybean · 15/02/2015 09:58

So sorry Victoria :(

Boosk · 15/02/2015 09:59

Thanks for taking a look purdey I was shitting myself the first month that I wasn't going to ov (which eventually happened on cd20, possibly due to anxiety of charting). But pretty regular since then.

We have decided to really go for it this month with the dtd as much as possible. Getting my bulk order of opks and lube in today Grin

purdeybirdie · 15/02/2015 10:01

Sammy, 3% is definitely not okay (and IVF clinics would insist on ICSI with that score) and I don't like that you were told it was 'fine'. Perhaps they were swayed by his high volume and motility and maybe I am wrong. The only way of knowing is to get a second opinion further SA done. If you have the money, I honestly would pay for a hycosy, Sammy. You are clearly feeling tortured on this journey (and who wouldn't after sixteen months?) and so I think it's time you took charge and had the investigation.

Boosk · 15/02/2015 10:08

purdey forgot to say, enjoy the stew! I love a Jamie recipe, have you tried his mum's cheesy dumplings (that doesn't sound dodgy at all).

loopylou1984 · 15/02/2015 10:11

Thanks Purdey - it was the 2nd test that they just said everything was normal (the 5% one) - but my concern is that maybe 3% is his usual and the 5% was the fluke rather than the other way round! Hope that makes sense. Maybe we should just ask doc to refer him for a third SA just in case....

I think we've decided that we're going to wait until April for my scan, and second appointment then depending on the wait time for HyCoSy on nhs we'll think about going privately. Xx
