Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Size I have no other children too ... Very much hoping this is our lucky one.

Just a quick question might sound silly but I've got my second lot of injections but the kit numbers different is that normal ? Xx

sizethree · 30/04/2015 18:27

May be a silly question but do I need to take my blue NHS medical notes folder on holiday with me just in case I need to be seen by a doctor on holiday for anything pregnancy related? The consultant didn't mention it today but I just thought it may be necessary so they have all info to hand if God forbid I do have to get meducal attention. What do you ladies think?

sizethree · 30/04/2015 18:31

Absolutely normal. If you have a look on your sheet that you fill in the time you do your injections on, you put that batch number next to the time, from what I remember. Does that make sense?

LouiseM1987 · 30/04/2015 18:38

Yes just wanted to double check it shouldn't have been the same number.
I don't know about notes I'm afraid :( hopefully someone else can answer. It does make sense to take them tho xx

Marchgirl · 30/04/2015 18:47

Yes, I would take your notes with you size. Hopefully you won't need them but always worth having them there just in case.
I have 1dd Louise. She'll be 3 in August. Was hoping for a 2 year age gap but that dream is well gone.

clairemorgan81 · 30/04/2015 19:13

I would definitely take notes size no harm in taking them with you.

Louise I have a little boy who was 2 in Jan and I also wanted a 2 year gap March - any gap would do now as long as it happens!x

Marchgirl · 30/04/2015 19:37

I know what you mean claire. No doubt you've had the line "at least you know your body can do it" a million times.

clairemorgan81 · 30/04/2015 19:53

Yes March so many times and also you are lucky to have one which I know I am Extremely but still doesn't make the losses any easier.

my twin sister is due in 4 weeks the exact time I would have been due if my 2nd miscarriage had worked out. so excited for her but its been a long 8 months!

Indiedog · 30/04/2015 20:19

Louise, I have a nearly seven yr old girl. We would have liked a 3/4 yr gap, but that is not to be.
If my first MC had carried I would nearly have a two yr old, but I don't dwell on those bits. It wasn't meant to be. As it goes, we thought sod it, and that year we booked and went to Lapland with DD. She was the right age, and if we had a baby we wouldn't be able to do it for a few more years. I know some people struggle with it, and believe me I do, but we made a good thing of a rubbish time.

Nearly three years later, and I am keeping everything crossed, this one WILL stick x

girliesaints · 30/04/2015 20:30

Have 4 year old DD, who will be 5 if this works out. Although would have liked a smaller age gap (finances & mcs) have been an issue, I'm now happy with the gap, as she'll be that bit older to enjoy a sibling.

Claire, must be tough having a twin that's pregnant. Even more reason this is your month x

girliesaints · 30/04/2015 20:31
  • And of course everyone else x
LouiseM1987 · 30/04/2015 21:54

I think it's hard no matter if you already have children or not. I just heard more people on the trial already have children so I just wondered that's all :)
I hate the fact we are all in this position.
Claire that must be tough and heart breaking. My cousin (who I don't like) was due after I was but she had a c section 3 days after my due date and now I can't bear to see them so I've avoided them since I found out they were expecting. I know it's not her fault she had her third healthy baby but it's to heart breaking for me at the minute xx

Marchgirl · 01/05/2015 07:05

I think the pain of the mc itself is absolutely no different whether you have other children or not. It's heart wrenching and awful. But I can't deny that people who haven't yet got kids have an additional extra shitty worry/upset to deal with. You've definitely got it worse and I really feel for you all. (Not that I think it's a very healthy thing for any of us to 'measure' our pain against others)
There are so many other complex considerations around mc, and issues it causes in other parts of your life that is just a whole shit package. Totally messes up relationships with friends, family, partners and particularly with anyone who is pregnant or has a baby. It really is the gift that keeps on giving!
I just hope this is it for all of us and that the drugs or the extra care or whatever it is makes a difference.
Extra hugs for you claire, must be particularly difficult with your twin being pregnant x

girliesaints · 01/05/2015 07:54

Well put March as ever x

clairemorgan81 · 01/05/2015 08:17

totally agree March one of the only things that made my mcs more bareable was ds so it must be extra heartbreaking when you dont have any children.
thanks ladies, that's life I guess. everyone has a story and it affects everyone differently. I just try and be ok as she's my sister and hopefully my time will come x

Choccywoccydodah · 01/05/2015 11:59

Size sorry you had a scare lovely! I still wear white knickers and check every time I go to the loo, I don't think it ever goes! I had a red spot with ds around 17/18 weeks and scared the crap out of me esp as dh was in the shower so he saw it when I did so we both totally panicked.

Louise so glad you've started your jabs ok. I just found pinching more skin helped and pinch quite hard.

I have ds, he'll be 4 in August. He starts school in sept so it's actually perfect timing as this ones due end oct :) First loss was due last July and we always wanted 3 years between them but this has actually worked out perfectly.
I was just naive to planning everything, mc didn't even enter my head!

Re booking appt, my research mws said not to book it until after my 8 week appt, I didn't get in until 11+6!

Downs test back yesterday, 1/11000, phew! Was worrying due to my age (35, 1 week off 36 when due) and ds was 1/436 so was expecting to be higher risk!

Well cleaner let me down yesterday. Second time and so pissed off with her!! She's not even frickin started yet!!
Meant to be having a massage today but MIL phoned to say they'll have ds Monday instead so not booked til Tuesday now. So annoyed as really need a bloody massage!

girliesaints · 01/05/2015 14:32

Choccy, Glad to hear the test came back so positive. Good knows what my odds will be if we get to that stage as will be 38!

Marchgirl · 01/05/2015 14:35

Congrats on the good downs results choccy Grin

clairemorgan81 · 01/05/2015 15:38

yey for downs results choccy bet that's a relief x

Indiedog · 01/05/2015 17:49

Pleased for you choccy. My DD was high risk. I have accepted screening again, I would just rather know either way.

I had a funny day today, think people might be cottoning on at work, as much as I am trying to hide being pregnant.
I was carrying a crying child, and this massive hard green bogie came out his nose on to my hand!!!! OMG' I started to heave!!! I tried soooo hard not too!

Then in the playground, a bird (albatross) took a poop on our pop up football net!!!! Someone gave it to me to hose off!!! Bluegh, off I went again heaving!

Oh well, I couldn't help it! Still not going to say anything! Only a few close friends know.

Kazz2112 · 01/05/2015 18:26

Well... I'm all signed up!!!! Couldn't take my bloods today because of the bank holiday weekend and it being too late to courier them wherever it is they need to go so I'm back again Tuesday!

One positive (I think) is that the original results I was told on Monday I'd have to wait 12weeks for I got today and there's no reason shown up for my mcs.

So now kind of hoping this months efforts ttc have been fruitless as if I have caught and am currently pregnant I can't be randomised!!! Dilemma!

Indie - your sickness sounds like a nightmare too hide! I had a kid vomit all over my classroom today! Don't think you'd have managed to stomach that! But... on the plus side... it's surely a good sign???

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday everyone!

girliesaints · 01/05/2015 19:28

Officially welcome Kazza, now you're
Signed up. Do you think it's likely that you could be pregnant?

Choccy/ Size/ Indie, when did your morning sickness kick in? Starting to stress that it hasn't yet for me, although I am feeling rough. Rationally I know it's too early, but I'm desperate to puke.

Indie- let your work colleague guess. They won't know for sure and if they do guess, I'm sure they will respect you keeping it to yourself x

Choccywoccydodah · 01/05/2015 19:37

Welcome to the gang kazz!!

Girlie I think my nausea kicked on about 7 weeks. I wasn't sick just constantly felt sick, more so in the evenings, although it was varied. I had really bad pain at 9+1 like bad constipation/wind but I didn't have a problem. I was doubled up and the next day my nausea subsided a lot. I still didn't have an appetite though until last week when we went to Dublin! It's really come back the last couple of days though :)
15w tomorrow Grin

Indie I would've been like you! Anything set me off up to 13 weeks. I just couldn't stand nasty smells, or fried stuff smells (still can't) Well done for not being sick!

Marchgirl · 01/05/2015 19:58

Welcome officially kazz Grin
