Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

Good luck Indie for tomorrow and thanks for the advice Girlie.

Just reading all your messages already makes me feel more hopeful and positive!!!!

Only just had my bloods done today. have a massive needle phobia I've been seein a hypnotherapist for since January and I'm so proud of how I dealt with it today. Especially with 7 samples being taken!!!! But if I have to have them done again for a trial so be it!!!!

LouiseM1987 · 27/04/2015 20:50

Hi kazz... I've been really lucky and I was suffered by my doctor after my 2nd miscarriage and had an appointment in 8 weeks tho I found out I was pregnant inbetween... Sadly was to be my 3rd miscarriage... The nurses on the trial have been amazing and have said people from around the country aren't getting the same care as Coventry but you can do anywhere you want to ! If you were closer I would def recommend Coventry.
Good luck tomorrow indie !
I've booked in to have acupuncture on Wednesday to hopefully help keep this one! X

LouiseM1987 · 27/04/2015 20:51

Referred not suffered :(

clairemorgan81 · 27/04/2015 21:04

Good luck jazz let us know how you get on. fingers crossed you can join.

Good luck for your app in morning girlie and hope scan goes well indie, how exciting for you both.x

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 21:07

Just seen the message from Marchgirl too..thank you! if I don't hear by Friday I'll chase it up.

Hubby reckons I'll have to wait for today's test results in 12 weeks first but from what you are all saying maybe I won't! Sending loads of good luck wishes out to everyone whatever stage you're at.x

LouiseM1987 · 27/04/2015 21:20

Kazz my consultant did lots of blood tests but when I was screened for the trial they do there own as they go to America ! You don't need to wait 12 weeks... And you'll get the results quicker too ! X

Kazz2112 · 27/04/2015 21:35

This is exactly what I'm thinking! What are the risks? Really hoping I can get on this now

LouiseM1987 · 27/04/2015 21:47

I still have doubts over the risks but I thought if it's my only chance of having children I will take it ! X

girliesaints · 28/04/2015 06:41

Kazz, when you have your appointment, you'll be given a doc that will run through the risks. It's all pretty low risk, nether less with any trial there are done.

Indie, good luck for this morning. Might even bump into you x

Marchgirl · 28/04/2015 10:02

It is still in trial phase kazz, so read over the risks carefully when they send you the information, but they have already trialled it for use for repeated ivf failure and results look positive with lots of live babies born (although not published yet, i don't think). Also i think someone said the first baby was born for the response trial recently, so all v positive. If there were any serious negative side effects then the trial would be cancelled as they take them very seriously.

Kazz2112 · 28/04/2015 10:31

Fingers crossed they get in touch today. I asked for a call in the afternoon

girliesaints · 28/04/2015 11:26

Back from my 5 wk appointment. Although everything was ok, appointment itself wasn't the best as first they tried to scan me, for me then point out I was 5 wks. Then a discussion whether I should or shouldn't have a scan, which resulted in deciding not to as could do more harm than good and then my meds weren't ready and will mean will need to go back tonight to get them. Know can't be helped but still annoying

Choccywoccydodah · 28/04/2015 12:43

How was your scan indie?

Girlie that's so annoying!!

Louise, they said the same to me last Tuesday about how people are self referring to coventry as the treatment in other places is shocking!!
Thoroughly recommend coventry, the ladies are just bloody lovely!!

All ok here, 14+3, been feeling a bit rotten the last few days with an awful pain in (what I thought was) my kidneys and low down front. Woke up 2am Monday morning in agony and actually thought I was going into labour!
Took paracetamol and calmed down a bit but it's still there.
Went to Dr this morning and ruled out uti, had a listen for HB but still too low at the moment. I've tried myself already and my mum had a feel yesterday and I've literally only just popped over the top of my public bone so she said I wouldn't hear it yet so I wasn't too concerned this am.
Have an awful headache too. Going to pregnancy yoga this eve, can go from 14 weeks so am hoping it may hello. I've never done yoga before, I hope I don't fart!

Kazz, so sorry you find yourself here. Glad you've filled in the application, hopefully you'll get some info soon. Thoroughly recommend the trial, it's been an absolute miracle for me :)

Currently in the bath. Dh is out and Ds is at preschool so it's bliss!
Finally finished the ironing this morning that's been staring at me for weeks! What a lovely feeling lol!
We have a cleaner starting Thursday and I cannot bloody wait! Grin

Indiedog · 28/04/2015 13:11

Husband made the scan. It went well, growth exactly right for eight weeks, and a little heartbeat ticking away. Phew!
Next scan is my normal 12 week scan, can't believe I have to wait four weeks!!!! I guess we are lucky having a scan at 6 and 8, which I have found very reassuring.
Next appointment at 10weeks.

Girlie, why on earth did they think you needed scanning? Six weeks yes, not five weeks. Oh well, just a little hiccup in the grand scheme of things I guess. I need to go back and collect meds too later. Just waiting for a call.
Apart from the mix up, is everything ticking along ok?

Choccy, sorry to hear you've been feeling rotten again. I am only just about over my awful cold/cough. Still got random nausea, but that I will happily take if it means things are ok.

A peaceful bath, that's lovely. Enjoy.

Hope everyone else is ok.

I did ask today how many people they have randomised in total, so she emailed. The reply was 65 he thinks, and that they have
stopped recruiting in the USA and just sticking to UK.

girliesaints · 28/04/2015 13:33

Glad to hear it went well Indie. Not sure why they thought I was having a scan today, think A got confused with dates!

Choccy, well hello about cleaner. It's a sore point in our house!

Indiedog · 28/04/2015 13:37

Are you booked in girlie for your six week scan?

girliesaints · 28/04/2015 14:22

Indie, I am at 11am next Tuesday... Feeling very nervous about it.

Choccy- should have typed well jel about the cleaner!

Kazz2112 · 28/04/2015 15:42

Well... Imy booked in to be seen on Friday and to havey bloods taken again. Great! Blood test phobic but I can do this! I can I can I can!!!!!

Just a little bit scared about doing something that's a trial! :s

Also worried about asking for all the loa"s
I'm a teacher and we have a scary new head who might be a bit arsey with it being gcse time! Eeeekkkk. But I've gotta focus on my priorities

Indiedog · 28/04/2015 16:35

Kazz, your be a pro with blood taking if you go ahead with the trial Wink, every week for six weeks to start with!

As for your new head, maybe they will be ok, you never know, they may want to avoid upsetting the apple cart in a new job! Maybe they will want to settle first before they show their true colours Blush!
Do you work full time? It's just a bridge you will have to cross when you come to it, but maybe give them the heads up about how many appointments may be involved if you do decide to join.

clairemorgan81 · 28/04/2015 17:21

Pleased your scan booked girlie & yours went well indie.x

girliesaints · 28/04/2015 18:15

Was thinking earlier with 5 of us I think randomised and just over 60 ladies on the trial in the UK, we're almost a mini snapshot what's happening nationalised. Also highly likely that of us, 50% are on the trial drug and 50% on the placebo...

clairemorgan81 · 28/04/2015 19:12

choccy hope your feeling better soon you 've had a rough few months...........I'm totally jealous of you getting a cleaner, would so love one but dh doesn't agree!!Angry x

Kazz2112 · 28/04/2015 19:56

Ive just soent the last 2 hours catching up on all the messages on here so that im clued up! Wow!

So... how many progressing pregnancies are there out of everyone on here? Ive counted Choccy, Indie, Louise, Girlie??

Just thinking it all seems quite positive atm!

You've all really inspired me! Wishing everyone loads of luck!

Marchgirl · 28/04/2015 20:33

Congrats on the good scan indie Grin
And on the good appointment girlie, although a bit rubbish of them not to know what week you were on!
First day of opk today. Big fat O, obv entirely expected. Although had watery cm today so hoping that's leading up to it. Still at the excited stage and I know that comes right before the horrible 2ww so making the most of it

Marchgirl · 28/04/2015 20:34

Oo. Meant to say, that's great kazz. I'm sure you'll get used to the blood thing I'd you decide to join the trial
