The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

NewEra I know a few people who have fallen pregnant straight after having a baby. I was also told after MC I would be more fertile due to hormones. But you may be right its hard to tell :/

Elley So sorry for the BFN :( If I were you I would test again in a couple of days if no af, just to make sure.

Glenpip So sorry you have found yourself here :( Hope you are ok hun

I am in a right rut today I thought I had Ov'd last week (although I am no ovulation expert.. I had a lot of ewcm and dare I say I felt very much in the mood lol) so we purposely didn't DTD as I am still testing positive after MC. We then DTD a couple of times over the weekend but today once again lots of ewcm and twinges.... can anyone shed any light? Is it just because of the wtf cycle? I'm a little worried I may have been wrong about last week and ovulating this week... but I am still testing positive :s The hospital made out it was the worst thing in the world to fall pregnant if you're still testing positive as they can then abort a new baby without you knowing. Is that even right?

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 11:15

Amy I also know a few people who have fallen straight after, my 41 year old sister included! But I know lots and lots that haven't and feel like shit because they think there is this magical window of opportunity that they have somehow missed.

I was fresh on this thread 10 months ago and thought I would be one of the lucky ones. When I vocalised this on here lots of the old-timers gently told me that for them the 'more fertile after MC' had not materialised. Fortunately nearly all of those 'old timers' have gone on to have babies or are now pregnant. So even if it doesn't happen immediately it doesn't mean all is lost, for some women it takes a few months for their cycles to normalise again and then a few more months to fall pregnant.

northdownmummy · 18/11/2014 11:18

ammy don't worry, I had a chat with a friend who's an obs&gyn surgeon. She told me that advice is all about it being very difficult to date a pregnancy if you conceive immediately after a MC. It can cause lots of stress and upset to already anxious mums because scans may happen earlier than usual and they think it's measuring small when in fact the growth rate is perfect it's just that the scan was at 9wks rather than 11

NewEraNewMindset · 18/11/2014 11:21

I can remember getting a load of EWCM on my WTF cycle, assumed I was going to ovulate and got excited and then AF arrived a few days later!! I then tested negative after that bleed.

It's such a confusing time xxx

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 11:25

NewEra I know, I think maybe they shouldn't tell people that at all, especially if you don't fall pregnant straight away it can make people think there is something wrong (I know I probably will if it doesn't happen to me!)

North I think they meant more because I haven't had a BFN since my MC so what I think she said (although I don't know... I was so upset I admit I wasn't taking in much of what she was saying) was that if I am still testing positive I would have to go in for a scan... and if I happened to have fallen pregnant again they wouldn't be able to determine whether it was a new pregnancy or if it was what was left from the mc... so they would then give me an erpc which could potentially kill a new baby. But that just doesn't sit right with me... surely they could tell the difference... especially when I actually saw the pregnancy sac come out. Does that make sense? I think I might be waffling lol.

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 11:27

Oh did you NewEra? That's maybe what is happening with me. Its very confusing! I am back in the dark ages too I know very little about cycles etc so I just don't know whats right and whats wrong and I guess the mc knocks everything out of place anyway! x

chasingtherainbow · 18/11/2014 11:42

I'm not really able to follow the thread properly as i'm sick as a dog but just wanted to say I've had a month if constant seemingly fertile cm. Despite knowing this isn't possible as my hcg is in the 400 ' s.

Makes me feel cross. Been reading "taking charge of your fertility" and it's all very "know your cycle and you'll be perfect" .. but how can you trust the "signs" when my body is telling me one thing but my bloods say somthing different

Snooky17 · 18/11/2014 11:46

Hi, I'm board hopping hood you don't mind, I never posted on this thread but stalked it regularly, I had 2 MCs in the space of 6 months, I'm 40 and had my MCs at 6 and 9 weeks, now 14 weeks pregnant. Don't give up hope it will happen and yes when it does the first weeks are scary as hell. I hope you all get your BFPs sooner rather than later xx

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 12:02

Chasing Sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish :( I so hope you get well soon. I don't feel very positive towards my body atm I don't feel like I can trust anything it does. I guess it must be normal then for lots of cm after mc, so that makes me feel a little better thanks ladies!

Snooky Congrats on your pregnancy! Fx you have a very uneventful and happy pregnancy. Great to hear of success after Mcs x

Treaclepie19 · 18/11/2014 12:56

Sorry your feeling rubbish chasing :(

I'm nearly in tears because Jason Man ford just said "oh were having a baby at Christmas!"
I'm like that should've been us :(

new I also found it really hard to cope with the fact that I didn't conceive again straight away despite this mystical increase in fertility. Confused From what I've read, there is only scientific study that found any evidence of this, and even then it was only a really tiny window (before you first ovulate after mc). IMO it's just another thing putting pressure on women.

Sorry you're feeling so ill chasing, I hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Gr33dyeggs · 18/11/2014 13:22

glenpip so sorry you're here too.
chasing I really hope you are feeling better soon.
amyyy hugs you're having a bad day. I can't remember figures, but after my 1st MC 6 yrs ago we were advised to wait 3 periods. I waited 2, fell on the 3rd and have a happy healthy son. The dr I saw this time suggested sooner the better and told a story of a lady who fell pregnant again b4 the 1st sac had been lost. So not sure how that works if not ovulating til no hcg!?!

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 14:38

Eggs I think they said I could still ovulate before hcg returned to normal which is how you can fall pregnant before getting a BFN after mc. And that story shows that there must be a way of detecting a new pregnancy! Ahhh its stressing me out. I said I would give myself til Thursday to get a BFN and if still no luck I would contact the hospital, although which department I have no idea they never told me! Just wish it was all over and done with so we can move on and start ttc!

chasingtherainbow · 18/11/2014 14:43

Amyy although most people don't ov before zero hcg it is possible as my story shows. (If the mass on my ovary is an eptopic pregnancy) I was scanned and saw baby in womb. When first bleeding. Bled heavy for 5 days. I must have ov'd and caught very quickly which explains my bizarre spotting a little bit later and the hcg levels.

16months suspected infertile and then 2 in the same 6 wks. Unbelievable.

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 15:41

Chasing How are you doing hun? What a really shit time you're going through my heart goes out to you :(

I'm so confused about it all, so normally would I not ovulate until HCG is back to 0? But in your case you have ovulated very quickly after mc and when HCG was definitely not 0? Its all so complicated isn't it!

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 16:42

Just wondering if I would be able to accept a BFN from a superdrug test or would it have to be a frer?

fififolle · 18/11/2014 16:58

Elley thank you for you're reply. We're ok thank you. I'm a bit gutted that I wasn't one of the lucky ones to conceive straight away and it's all hitting home again this week. I was back in work (too) quickly- it's our own business and I didn't want to take longer off. I conceived my DS (4yrs) quickly and did again in August. I was convinced that I'd conceive as fast this time too.
It is so reassuring to chat to people in a similar situation.
Amyyyy I'd accept the BFN from the ds test- they are super sensitive.

chasingtherainbow · 18/11/2014 17:30

AFAIK you shouldn't ovulate until it's 0 no. Because your body would be in 'pregnant' mode with hcg floating about.

My hcg wasn't checked at all until I discovered those super strong tests 2 wks later when I expected a neg.

I have heard of a few people who ovulated when their hcg was less than 15 but not quite zero. I have no idea if mine just dropped immediately or what but the way my hcg rose in a very odd fashion, is weird..The dr was like .. what!? I still can't really believe it's happened but that's what she and the consultant agreed! I actually personally think that I perhaps released two eggs. Perhaps one implanted properly in my womb and one got stuck in my tubes. Who knows. Anyways supposedly the good egg won't drop till your hcg is zero. Obviously even the cheapies pick up 10mui so even on a negative you can't be 100% without bloods that it's zero but you'd be pretty close if not.

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 17:42

Ah fifi I caved in and bought even more frers, spent a small fortune on them! But those are what I last tested on so will be able to tell of the lines are getting fainter.

Thanks chasing I won't panic about dtd then that's a relief! It certainly sounds like 2 eggs could have been released. What's your next steps now? X

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 18:14

Ah damn it!! The faintest bloody line showed up right at the last second!! :(

chasingtherainbow · 18/11/2014 18:27

Bloods Thursday and Sunday. Hopefully hcg plummets then it's weekly bloods till its zero.

Or surgery Monday x

chasingtherainbow · 18/11/2014 18:27

Ohh amyy. . I'm. Not sure if that's a good thing?!

Amyyy27 · 18/11/2014 18:36

Oh chasing hope they go down hun.

I don't think my body knows either! I cried when it looked like a bfn then cried when I saw that stupid line show up! Although to be fair it was so faint I must be so close to a bfn now. I am desperate for a bfn so I don't have to ring the hospital on Thursday ( 3 weeks after medical management) incase they want me in for scans or tests etc. I'm such a wuss lol I hate hospitals, even more so after all of this x

Brummiegirl15 · 18/11/2014 19:05

Oh no, lots of newbies!!! Hello fifi pip and Snooky

Although congrats Snooky on your BFP. I had 2 mc's in 3 months this year and it nearly broke us.

I'm now on 4th cycle since ERPC and in keeping everything crossed as testing on Saturday.

Had achy boobs today - come on the symptom spotting!!!!

I admit I'm sulking a bit as overseas for work at moment for 3 nights and I'm by myself so being a proper Billy no mates.
I don't mind travelling on my own - but in the evening, it's shit being by yourself especially as my tv in English is limited to CNN and BBC World
