For old birds to support each other through the madness. New old birds are most welcome, join us in the chicken coop.

Hi all....mind if I pop in? I'm 44...I have 3 dds and I've also had 13 early mgs and an ectopic that resulted in loss of a tube. never thought I'd get pg again...but

I found a weird need to buy a test on Wed night and got a BFPShock

Tranquilitybaby · 31/10/2014 15:30

Great news Tilly, exciting news indeed!

Yes 6 week scan after the ectopic x

AnnieHoo · 31/10/2014 16:49

Congratulations dropdead that's amazing! Smile

Hey ghost I'm your cycle buddy! Let's go for it Smile!! starting tonight. I'm back on the wagon too after too much wine this week WineWineWine

HexyQueen · 31/10/2014 17:31

Oh my fucking god. I come back after a couple of weeks being sick in a bin & find more older birds with BFPs!!!! Congrats Tilly & Fred. Keep rubbing yourselves on us ttc birds, we are rocking the henhouse!

My scan went well this week and I'm 8+3 now & struggling badly with hyperemesis including being hospitalised. But bean is growing well & in the right place so all good.

Fingers, toes & everything else crossed for everyone ttc this month xxx

patch77 · 31/10/2014 21:36

I've finally got an appointment for my hsg scan in 11 days time. Let's hope there are no blockages then can start the chlomid for christmas.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 31/10/2014 21:57

Fx for you patch, you should get some indication there & then. I did 6months clomid, it wasn't too bad & I loved the regularity of my cycles.

Hi Annie. I'll second that! DTD twice earlier on. D.P is in bed worn out, ha ha.
Glad you're back on the wagon.

AnnieHoo · 02/11/2014 00:53

I'm on day 12 now ghost no sign of ov yet on sticks.. Bit worried my cycle is all messed up. Will keep on DTD though. It's sad because my libido is very low, I'm irritable and tired so I'm not exactly a bundle of fun in the sack... But I've GOT to do it if we are ever going to have a baby so I have to fake it and don't enjoy it at all and just want it over with, that makes me feel crap because I love DH and normally I am a horny thing Sad. I tried to get round this with wine but that just makes me worse and it's not good for me at all right now so best to be sober. Just got to close my eyes and think of England! Smile

AnnieHoo · 02/11/2014 00:56

Good work with the twice a night btw! Wink

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 02/11/2014 11:26

Aww Annie. I know what you mean about not always being in the mood, and not always enjoying it. I always swore I would never make sex be just for baby making but it's never that simple every time we dtd. I'm always thinking is this it now.
Has it finally happened..
I have a few hours this afternoon going over to see d.p. Not in the mood for it today, (which is strange as I'm in my fertile window, well according to mumsnet ovulation calender) but I have to what has to be done. Don't think we'll manage twice though.

AnnieHoo · 04/11/2014 09:43

How's everyone doing?

It's a ghost coop.

No signs of ovulation here. It's no wonder after all those synthetic hormones being pumped in last month. It may just be delayed as it's only day 15 but I usually have a build up of lines getting darker and darker on sticks and they're totally blank so something's not happening.

I'm a wee bit horny though which is good for the shagathon.

How are you getting on ghost?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 04/11/2014 18:43

I'm not bad thanks Annie. Managed some sexy time on Sunday and quickie earlier on and more planned for tomorrow which is the last day of my fertile period. A.f due 19th so I guess from tomorrow I'm in my 2ww.
How are you feeling. Enjoy your shagathon!!!.
Oh waves to everyone else.

ranchgirl · 04/11/2014 19:37

I'm 40 in a month and been TTC since Jan. I'm going batshit crazy. Literally. Hormones all over the place, Crying all the time. Paranoid, feckless.

Is this old age, hormones, or just the painful process of TTC after waiting too bloody long to find my husband?!

Book app at GP's to start investigations (their advice - I'm not just being eager!)

ranchgirl · 04/11/2014 19:38

BTW: TWICE a night? Oh Lordy...

AnnieHoo · 04/11/2014 20:41

Hi Ranchgirl!

Yes! This is the painful process of not meeting DH until later in life + being optimistic month after month Smile.

Im 41 and didn't meet DH until v late 30's. It takes that bit longer for us old birds to get a BFP. Good that you're getting investigations done.

ranchgirl · 04/11/2014 21:47

Yep, met husband less than 2 years ago- we moved quick!
My optimism is fading, but hopefully we can get some help somewhere.
Thanks.

HexyQueen · 05/11/2014 00:37

Don't give up hope ranchgirl, quite a few of us old birds have had BFP lately so it can & does happen. Best of luck this month, girls xxx

stubbornstains · 05/11/2014 10:40

Welcome ranchgirl! I met my partner at 38, and when we started TTC it took us 9 months- I'm now 40, and 10wks 3 days pregnant Smile.

..and yes, I went batshit crazy too! It's the uncertainty, isn't it- if you knew that it was going to happen in a couple of months, it would be fine....

Getting investigations done really helps- you feel that you're getting somewhere. I discovered that my progesterone was a bit low, and my luteal phase a bit short - still got pregnant though! (and if the low prog was going to cause any problems, I think it would have happened by now). The appointment letter from the fertility clinic came through the door on the day I got my BFP!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/11/2014 12:27

Hi Stubborn. How are you.
You've just hit the nail right on the head. If God stood infront of me now and said. Hi Ghost you are going to pregnant but it wont be for a few years down the line, then that would be fine, as I know it would be happening but it's like you say the uncertainty.
It must be nearly time to meet your little one at your scan. Is it still 12 weeks they scan you at.

ranchgirl · 05/11/2014 12:54

Absolutely ladies. Thank you. A timetable would be fine. I don't like not being in control! In the meantime trying to reduce my stress (just came home from work early) and look after myself. Positive thinking and all that... Confused

stubbornstains · 05/11/2014 12:57

Yes, I'm eagerly awaiting my scan letter, ghost. I think I'll calm down a lot after that, and feel able to join the ante natal thread.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/11/2014 16:10

Sorry Ranch forgetting my manners. I've not said Hi to you yet (waves)

ranchgirl · 05/11/2014 16:56

Smile @ lighthouse

Can anyone advise me what will happy at my GP app? Hoping to drag along poor DH (who is not comfortable with that kind of thing at all)... Will they just refer me? Will DH need to provide sample then or later?
Ugh... So many questions...

stubbornstains · 05/11/2014 17:10

The first thing you'll get will be a nurse's appointment to take blood tests. These should happen 3 days after the beginning of your period, and on day 21 (assuming you have a prefect 28 day cycle) of your cycle. Day 3 tests are for all sorts of hormones; day 21 test is for progesterone, to indicate whether you've ovulated.

Your DP will probably be handed a little pot Grin, and an appointment should be made for him to take it to the hospital.

When these results come back, depending on what they say, you'll probably get an appointment for an ultrasound of your womb and ovaries.

The next step after that would be a referral to the fertility clinic.

ranchgirl · 05/11/2014 17:56

ThankyouThanks
