Forgot to say that I've dug out my copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler (has anyone else read this?) to remind myself of a few details. Great book.

Kay1 · 16/04/2004 08:43

good luck Hana and Ermentrude. My AF due on sunday and despite all my attempts to not think about it so much this month, i am now thinking about it all the time!!

Welcome gothicmama and good luck in ttc

M2T · 16/04/2004 08:58

Fingers crossed and loads of baby sprinkles to all you who are almost ready to test!!!

There could be a Holly or a Noel born this year?

gothicmama · 16/04/2004 09:13

AF due Tuesday feeling like normal so do not think any luck this month. Tex I havenot read the book it sounds interesting

Tex111 · 16/04/2004 09:32

Hi gothicmama, I found the book invaluable first time around as I had very little idea how to tell when I OVed. It tells you how to chart, explains all about luteal phases, etc, etc. And it tells you how to use the rhythm method which is great as I react badly to the pill.

There's also some TCOYF software which I have from last time and have started using without temping this time. They also have a huge online community at www.tcoyf.com but I should warn you it can be very American in the worst way - lots of 'Thoughts for the day', graphics, very sentimental etc. If you can get past that there's a lovely group of supportive ladies there. They were an absolute lifeline first time around when it took us 10 months to conceive.

BigBird · 16/04/2004 09:37

Good luck Hana, Ermentrude, Kay1 and Gothicmama.

Hana - you are like me....I love that excitement of thinking I might be so I put off tests for a day or two. I think in 16mths of trying I've used 4 pg tests !

I hope to hear of a few BFPs next week !!

hana · 16/04/2004 10:09

I couldn't resist.....splashed out a fortune on the clearblue digital (only ones the chemist had) and I am pregnant
DH has always loved the name Holly...I hope we get there this time!

I'm sitting here just staring at the test, as if I dreamed it all......and that it will change.
It's so nice to read your lovely messages!! We have a dd who is 2.6, I had a m/c before she was born, and last June I lost a baby at 13 weeks and in October had a m/c at 8 weeks. So I guess we've been trying for this one for a year. Right now I just feel so much excitement!
Still haven't told hubby.....don't want to do it over the phone really. dd is at nursery today ( normally work Fridays but there's no school today) so it's really strange to have done the test and be alone. I had planned on doing so many things around the house today and now can't concentrate!

ermentrude · 16/04/2004 10:58

OH MY GOD HANA!!!

Fantastic!! I am sitting here with a huge grin on my face for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Send some baby dust my way!!!!
CONGRATS!!!

gothicmama · 16/04/2004 11:18

Congrats Hana.
Thanks Tex111 I will try. Last time Itried doing Temp and everything I got a bit confused and we conceived only after we decided to bonk every day to make sure we caught. It worked bit is not o easy this time as we have dd

BigBird · 16/04/2004 11:46

Hana - busy yourself and the day will fly ! Maybe treat yourself to a nice lunch out and a bit of shopping? DH will be so delighted. I hope you have a very happy and healthy pregnancy.

futurity · 16/04/2004 12:28

Fantastic Hana! Well chuffed for you! Had a feeling when I logged on that I would hear good news!

MoseGirl · 16/04/2004 12:41

Hello and congratulations HANA!!!!!

I am been on and off Mumsnet now, just reading threads mainly, for 5 months since my DH and I decided to try for our 1st baby. It is so bizarre I was so sure it would just HAPPEN within the first 3 months of coming off the pill as all my friends and family have. This is not the case and I am feeling quite low (have suffered from Depression in past) about how difficult it actually is.
It is a bit harder for us to try around OV as my husband fly's (spelling?) for a living and is often away for 3 or 4 days over the few days of OV.

Another problem is that since I came off the pill I feel like I a spotty teenager with bad skin on my face, neck and back and horrible hair! This does not add to my overall moral! Is this quite a common reaction?

BTW I am on CD7 with around a 35/36 day cycle usually.

The other thing I wanted to ask (hoping for reassurance that I'm not alone or ODD) is that my periods are only about 2 days long????

Here's to participating more with you all for some luck.............

Schmozer · 16/04/2004 13:05

My congratulations to you too, Hana!

I've also been lurking for a little while, but thought I would introduce myself. Have recently started trying for our first. Feeling a bit overexcited as AF is due on Sunday and for the last two weeks have been exhausted, very dizzy (to the point of almost falling over) and occasionally nauseous. No sore breasts or metallic taste. Should I be buying a test?! And how soon can I test? Am on CD28 with a variable cycle (27-32 days) which averages around 29 days.

Good luck to you all.

smellymelly · 16/04/2004 13:06

Hana - that is brilliant news

So happy for you, I was hoping you wouldn't wait to test!!!!

Hubby will be so pleased, Can't you visit him at work or meet him for lunch??

Fingers crossed for a trouble free pregnancy.xxxx

smellymelly · 16/04/2004 13:08

schmozer - You can test now!!!!!!

OOOh I'm all excited now for BFP's.

smellymelly · 16/04/2004 13:10

Mosegirl - I get spotty round ovulation time too, luckily DP doesn't care. And my AF pattern is 2days on, one day off, one day on.... And I have ds, and dd with no problems....

MoseGirl · 16/04/2004 13:12

Thanks for the reassurance Smellymelly, I just keep wondering if there is something wrong with me and am probably looking for problems!

Tex111 · 16/04/2004 13:33

Hi Mosegirl, I was really surprised it didn't happen straight away for us too first time. Luckily I had a friend who had tried for almost a year before she got pregnant so I knew that sometimes it happens that way. Just didn't think it would happen to us! It took us ten months in the end.

That is difficult with your Dh flying all the time. Have you heard the theory that pilots/flight attendants/frequent flyers always have girls?! People kept telling us that because DH travels a lot with work. Didn't prove true with us though!

As for your periods, I think the important thing is that you have regular periods, not how long they last.

MoseGirl · 16/04/2004 13:41

Thanks this means I am probably normal and am definitely worrying too much for my own good.

I swore I would not be obsessive about wanting to get PG but its so hard not too when you want it so much.

Cripes I better had not tell DH about the girl theory...he is sure to want a mini 'Mo'and he will only let me have two kids!
