OK so I'm going to start this one off - this will be the luckiest and most reproductive thread ever

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THAT WRITE HERE**

BigBird, of course I will know when we should be doing it and my willpower is simply that if I did conceive, baby would be due on ds birthday and personally I do not want this. Therefore I will abstain around this time! Knowing my luck though, my timing will be out and the sperm will live forever and I will conceive anyway! Actually I think I will temp around the crucial time and then at least I will see when I have ov'd. I am also trying to lose a little bit of weight, about half a stone, for my holiday! Despite thinking I may give in, I actually think I won't but that is only because I have a holiday in between stopping and starting again mid May. I would like a spring baby and taking a short break may help to refresh my mind in ttc again. Started to feel that I was getting a bit down with all the disappointment and this month, I won't be as af will come anyway.

bluestar: when is your DS's birthday? My DS's is 18th Jan so I have this issue as well this month but am going to go ahead and try anyway (think if i was successful baby would be due 14th Jan)

Kay1 · 13/04/2004 20:58

Hi all - and hello Tex 111 - good luck on this thread!

Beckie F - best wishes for next week's appt and well done on weight loss - what willpower with Easter as well!!

I've been doing the taking a break from temping thing, but totally agree with Bigbird, i still know exactly what cycle day i'm on, when i'm likely to be ov'ing etc. So i've not been taking a break as such, more trying to wind it all down a bit as i suppose i am working towards giving it up.......after the intensity of the last few months it has felt good to ease off a bit although i am still not sure what to do in the longer term. AF due at weekend so like you, Azure, i will see how i feel then. It's quite easy to think about giving up, when there's a possibility you may actually be pg!! May be a very different matter when AF starts.

Tex111 · 13/04/2004 21:23

This is our first month trying for No2 and I was wondering who on this thread is trying for a second (or third, fourth, etc) baby too.

It sounds like some of you have been trying for a baby for a while. It took us ten months with DS and it was like a military operation by the time we finally got PG. I even had fertility software! I was temping, checking CM and using opks. I was also drinking grapefruit juice, taking cough syrup and putting my legs in the air after sex! Anyone else done this stuff??

ermentrude · 13/04/2004 21:28

Hi folks! Quick update - cd 25 - thermometer still lost but reckon I ovulated a few days ago. Not thinking about it this month as much but, like others, I am still checking CM etc!

Tex - we are trying for baby no 2 - baby number 1 took over a year and a half of TTC (well, sort of trying but not really very hard and obsessively).

Still may be in line for a December baby if it happens this month - a Chrsitmas Day baby even according to prediction charts! My cycle is long though....

Af came around cd33 last month so still a while to wait!

Where abouts is everyone else?

Kay1 · 13/04/2004 21:53

Tex111 - yep done most of that - definately all the temping, charting graphic details about CM on fertility websites etc. Also extra vitamins, oils etc etc - very obsessive. Never actually tried pillows under bum, legs in air.......maybe that's where i've been going wrong!!

Hi Ermentrude, could be a very happy xmas for you! Good luck.

Tex111 · 13/04/2004 21:56

I'm at CD14 and have 27 day cycles so should be highly fertile right now! I'm not getting my hopes up though. I was driving myself mad last time and want to attempt to be more relaxed this time around. I would love to get pregnant now though which would mean a Capricorn baby. I'm a Cap and DH and DS are Leos (birthdays are one week apart). It would be nice to even things up a bit!

Tex111 · 13/04/2004 21:59

Hi Kay1, glad to see I'm not alone in the obsessing!

Good luck ermintrude. The hardest part is after O when all you can do is wait and see. Fingers crossed for you!

hana · 14/04/2004 14:01

I am due in a couple of days and am doing the am aren't I sort of thing. Do my breasts feel sore? Do I taste metal in my mouth? Is that a queasy stomach? Arrrrgh!!! I hate it! But part of me v excited because I could be......

Bigbird - about the not trying but still knowing - I knew the signs and knew that this day was better than that one sort of thing and just didn't nudge my dh so much as I would have done before. Still bd'ing but not necessarily when I think is the best time.
ho hum. will let you know in a few days....

Mum2Ela · 14/04/2004 14:05

hana - fingers and everything else crossed for you!!!!

x

Morgan · 14/04/2004 14:10

I'm on day 22 today and it's a bit strange this month as do not have usual symptoms of pmt so wondering what is going on - breasts aren't sore as usual and did feel a bit funny at the w/end sort of sick and a bit dizzy but think i am imagining it all after nearly two years of ttc - will just have to wait and see i suppose. Good luck to every one else waiting.

bunny2 · 14/04/2004 15:01

Hana, hugs and loads of luck

bunnyxx

Tex111 · 14/04/2004 15:01

Good luck Morgan and hana. That two week wait can be hell but it can be lovely too as there's so much possibility! I'm about to enter it myself and it's nice to think about all the 'maybes'. Fingers crossed for you both!

futurity · 14/04/2004 17:32

Good luck to all waiting!

Got a bit teary today due to an old dear in the park asking me if i was going to have another child "as they need company you know!" and then going on to tell me about her grandchildren (4,2 and 1)...obviously super fertile family!!

bluestar · 14/04/2004 20:23

futurity, my ds birthday is day before your ds!! how old is your ds? mine is 3. I guess there are some advantages to having kids with similar birthdays ie. not one kid saying it's not fair, where's my present, I suppose you can save all year for one very expensive time (xmas & birthday) I'm just not sure. Although I will know roughly when the best time to try is, I cannot guarantee I will not try until the time passes! Currently on CD7, usual OPK positive time day 18/19. So a while to think about it yet! Also, futurity, I understand about getting asked about having another one. I want to scream of course I want another one but we don't always get what we want or we'd probably all be millionaires!!

So to everyone else - good luck and hope we get some positives soon.

futurity · 14/04/2004 21:29

Bluestar: We are very similar...I am on CD 4 and also OV around day 19..only difference is my DS is 2. I know what you mean about similar birthdays but I figure I was even willing to have an Xmas baby (which didn't happen!) so I might as well keep trying as I would find it surprising to get pregnant this month the way my body is treating me!!

My brothers birthday was a month before mine and I used to hate that..not only was he older but he had his birthday before mine as well..however only a month to wait wasn't so bad in reflection! Hope the same thing happens for my children!

smellymelly · 15/04/2004 09:13

Hi everyone, I'm on day 18, ov on cd15, we couldn't resist trying just the once(!) but I don't feel it worked this time. Not too depressed, though as we have the Wedding and honeymoon to look forward too!!!!

Futurity and Bluestar - Just to help on the close birthday front, there was 3 years between me and my sis, and 6 days between our birthdays, and I never felt there was a problem with them being so close together.

Kay 1 - I read a book once, which said that there was a woman who was not having any luck conceiving, for a long time..... Turned out she was going straight to the toilet after sex, and flushing her chances down the toilet!!! It does seem obvious to some to wait, but this shows that not everyone thinks of it.... I had my legs in the air, or a pillow under my bum, and refrained from coughing (!) for both of my (planned) pregnancies and it worked a treat. I wouldn't move for at least 20-30 minutes just to make sure!

Come on everyone, - we need some good news here.............xxxx

Tex111 · 15/04/2004 09:45

Hello. I'm CD14 and think I Oed on CD12. Not feeling like it's happened this month. With ds dh and I both knew immediately (was very sceptical of other people who said this until it happened to me!). Not getting that vibe this month but it's our first time trying and didn't expect it to happen right away.

Got a scratchy throat and bit of a cough so probably coming down with something. Glad the weekend is coming so I can sleep!

Smellysmelly, I love that you refrained from coughing! I remember I once sneezed while in the legs up the wall position and was sure that I had ruined my chances for that month!

Azure · 15/04/2004 14:17

I'm heading off to the States tomorrow but will be able to log in from Saturday, so will be keeping up to date with all the news. Good luck to those reaching the end of their cycles - Ermentrude, Hana, anyone else I've missed, and me! Kay1 I would recommend the pillow under bum scenario - it worked the last two times I got pregnant (not this time, of course). I've never actually stuck my legs up against the wall - I'm sure I would laugh too much, with probably a detrimental effect.

Tex111 · 15/04/2004 16:44

I didn't do the legs in the air thing this month. I thought I would try to be more relaxed but now I wish that I had done it! Didn't realise how much I really want to get pregnant again until now. Oh well, next month will definitely give it a go.

Tex111 · 15/04/2004 16:45

Azure, good luck to you! Hope you have a lovely time in the States. Are you going for work or pleasure?

hana · 15/04/2004 21:00

ok......AF was due today and I know I should just do a test and find out (v v scared to) but just worked out that if I am pregnant - baby would be due on Christmas Day, exactly one year (minus one day) to the due date of the baby I lost last summer. That would be a nice symmetry to the past I think. My past 3 cycles have been exactly 27 days each, and tomorrow will be day 28. I am going to wait a few days I think, but it's awfully hard. I hate the 'what is my body doing sort of thing' each month........the excitement of thinking that I might possibly be is quite a nice feeling though.

ermentrude · 15/04/2004 21:03

hana - good luck! If I am preg this cycle I will be due on Christmas Day too! Although scans will change that as my cycle is 32-35 days.....maybe a new year baby!

I am on cd27 now - not expecting af until cd32 at least. Trying not to think about it

gothicmama · 15/04/2004 21:04

Hello can I join your thread just been inspired to ttc by another thread on here despite having accepted that I probably would not. Thinking of all you coming to end of cycle

Tex111 · 16/04/2004 08:39

hana, good luck to you! Can't wait for you to do a test. You have more patience that I do!

Ermintrude and hana, fingers crossed for Christmas babies.

Welcome gothicmama. Good luck to you too. Where are you in your cycle now?
