Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Thanks scienceteacher. I've ordered some cheap ones online, and a couple of clearblue ones. plan to use the cheap ones and then use clearblue to give me more peace of mind if the cheap ones give me any sort of indication of a positive result.

feeling a little nauseous combined with heartburn and a bit gassy (tmi?) tonight.

How is everyone else feeling?

Shellbell0403 · 20/09/2014 22:32

I really just want my body back to normal... Well so I can then conceive.. I hope it doesn't take months ?? I thought was going to come the other day.

Aww hope you are both lucky and get positive results xx

scienceteachergeek · 21/09/2014 12:18

Totally and utterly gutted. Spotting has definitely turned into AF. Something strange gone on as never had an early period and it's never slow to arrive. It's normally really heavy for the first day not this pathetic excuse for a period!

Ovulation sticks must have lied to me...fallen out with them now! In fact I've fallen out with ttc! I really wish I liked wine, or any alcohol!

I'll be having my other blood tests tomorrow to check my fertility.

Hope you're all ok xxx

Ainat266 · 21/09/2014 13:50

Hugs scienceteacher Could it be related to recently coming off of birth control? I know you said you had your first visit from AF normally, but maybe the hormones are still all over the place? I hope you get good results from your blood tests.

x

scienceteachergeek · 21/09/2014 15:49

Thanks ainat been off the pill 14months now so can't be to do with that unfortunately.

Anyone got any good news for us? :)

Emilyjane11 · 21/09/2014 19:25

Hi ladies. My period is due in a week and im having cramps. Im either early or inplantation cramps? (Wishful thinking) haha.
Also, something else kinda unrelated I have been invited to my first smear, im petrified (even though I plan to birth a child Grin funny really!) does it hurt?! Xxz

Shellbell0403 · 21/09/2014 21:16

My AF is still not here ??wish it would hurry up so I can ovulate again and try.... Don't suppose U can ovulate until first AF after coming off pill can you???

Emily smear isn't too bad... Just relax and think of something nice ?? xx

Kym134 · 21/09/2014 21:37

Apparently you can ovulate before your first period when stopping the pill. (That's what the doctor told me.)

scienceteachergeek · 21/09/2014 22:35

Emily smears are fine. Sounds a bit weird but I just relax and imagine the plastic penis thing is a real willy! The more you stress out the more your muscles tense and then the tighter your lady parts are. Then you run the risk of it being sore when the plastic willy will hurt! Sorry if you think that was too much info! xxx

Skiptonlass · 22/09/2014 14:06

Emily, let your nurse or Obgyn know its your first one and that you're nervous. Ask them to talk you through it if that helps.
They don't hurt, they are just a bit undignified. If your healthcare person knows it's your first time, they should be extra gentle and they even have a slightly smaller speculum if they have to.

When it's all done you'll think ' oh, ok...can't say it was fun but it was fine...'

Skiptonlass · 22/09/2014 14:14

Could it be implantation bleeding scienceteacher ? Or is it definitely a period? Good luck with the bloods!

Keep taking the folic acid too... It's best to start it several weeks before and that way you'll know you're not going to be caught out.

Fingers crossed !

fortywinx · 22/09/2014 15:51

Hi all! We have started TTC#1 this month. I've been off the pill for about 18 months so my cycle is pretty settled (as much as they ever are!).
Not charting or using ovulation sticks yet, although I have an app which gives me a rough idea (and my body gives me a good idea of what's going on too; thank you CM). I'm in the waiting period at the moment, trying not to read too much into every little cramp, tiredness or mood swing XD. Good luck everyone!

scienceteachergeek · 22/09/2014 16:55

Skipton, it's definitely a period. I'm bleeding far too much for it to be that. It's just totally different to any period I've ever had before. Weird though. They were even regular my first month off the pill 14months ago, but not this first month ttc. Got a docs appointment this time next week to discuss both blood tests. Good luck folks...thinking of you all xxx

Emilyjane11 · 22/09/2014 18:43

Thanks ladies. I'll book in! Haha. Any good news? Im still cramping and got sore boobs! Xx

ThenewMrsB82 · 22/09/2014 18:59

I'm absolutely convinced my period is on its way.. I'm completely emotional and have some cramps.. Ooh well it's only 14 more days until my next fertile window.. Looking forward to the weekend and wine ??

Shellbell0403 · 22/09/2014 21:15

Think I'm going to go crazy ??

Emilyjane11 · 22/09/2014 21:19

Why she'll?

Emilyjane11 · 22/09/2014 21:19

Shell obvs xxx

kezaroo · 22/09/2014 21:51

Can I join please?
Came off cerazette 21st August, had slight bleed a week or so later, lots of pregnancy symptoms (well known coming off this pill). I think I Ov'd weekend before last so now sitting and waiting hoping the cycle starts to regulate.

This first month is hard - hormones all over the place and not knowing where you are at with the cycle.

Hoping to be pregnant by Xmas!!! (The sooner the better!)

Shellbell0403 · 22/09/2014 22:49

Still not here and neg test! Just want my first AF so I can start properly and teach correctly.... One week over... Atleast getting abit of practice in ??

How's everyone else? Any good news yet? Xx

kittyvet · 22/09/2014 23:06

Just dropping in from 'an about to pop thread' to wish you all good luck. It took me over a year to get preggers but we did it! If you feel yourselves going a little mad I really recommend 'an inpatient woman's guide to getting pregnant'. It's American biased but incredibly informative and reassuring!
Fingers crossed!

TheProofIsInThePudding · 23/09/2014 09:13

This is our first month TTC CD7 now. Does/did anyone else find the time passing really slowly in their first month?! I just want to get on with things - all this waiting is getting on my wick!

Actually, from reading the posts I can see that it is the waiting that is so frustrating. Whether for ovulation, AF or test results we have to be patient.

We do have things going on most weekends for the next month, so hopefully it will keep me distracted (who am I kidding?!)

Good luck folks!

Ainat266 · 23/09/2014 18:13

TheProof I'm getting annoyed with all this waiting too. Now that we've made the decision to start ttc after us both wanting to for a couple of years (but not really being in a place to) I want it all to happen quickly!

Next week should in theory be when AF is due, but seeing as everything is all mucked up, who knows?

My hormones are still going crazy - Everything is making me teary. Yesterday I got teary because I saw all my children (not MY children, children I taught in nursery last year) in their school uniforms starting reception looking all smart and grown up. I also got teary because I put my jumper on inside out and hadn't realised until I got back in after walking the dog. I had my coat on anyway so no one would have noticed... Argh. Crazy lady.

Other than the crazy hormone stuff I've been getting headaches, cramps, and been feeling nauseous from time to time. But then that could also just be related to the hormones from coming off the pill. I want either a BFP or AF to be on time next week so I can get on with things.

Emilyjane11 · 23/09/2014 19:17

Im fed up today ladies. Im sick of waiting too. Period is supposed to be here next week, I was sick today AND fainted if im not pregnant something has to be up right?! I can't get my head round it and im trying not to test and leave it as late as poss xx

Joey0805 · 23/09/2014 19:59

No news here either...waiting for AF to show up. Having had zero side effects from coming off the pill I've now had a couple of really bad bouts of nausea and have been ANGRY for 2 solid days now! Still taking my ovulation tests just in case but hoping the black moods are a sign AF is coming this weekend so I can start using my cbfm for next cycle. Am generally a very impatient person so this waiting business is tough!

Scienceteachergeek - sorry to hear this wasn't your month.

Emilyjane11 - if this is not a BFP coming your way I really hope you start to feel better soon!
