Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

I'm excited for you scienceteacher relax and see how things go. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to test but if wait a day or so and see if symptoms persist? Xx

scienceteachergeek · 19/09/2014 18:45

I know MrsB82! Without this thread I would be totally lost! We've told nobody either. It's our two year wedding anniversary next week...people have stopped asking us. They must think we're either infertile or just don't want babies!

The Proof, only as you've asked for the TMI :) ...I've got sloppy poo, mild cramps, the spotting and swollen hands. Hands are so swollen that I can't get my rings off...strange as usually they are lose. I haven't heard of sloppy poo or swollen hands being a symptom but I guess you never know!

Just POAS (purely to please the thread yeah right!! Got a BFN but will test tomorrow with my first wee of the day if symptoms persist.

ThenewMrsB82 · 19/09/2014 19:08

Yes let us know x

Joey0805 · 19/09/2014 19:16

Ah good luck scienceteacher! But definitely enjoy your weekend Smile

Ainat266 · 19/09/2014 19:21

I don't think I've actually posted in this thread before, though I've read the updates a couple of times now. x

Hubby and I aren't telling anyone about ttc and it's so hard! In some ways I want to shout about it from the rooftops, lol, but I also don't want all the 'are you pregnant yet?' questions... We've both agreed to just keep quiet at the min.

CD 19 according to Ovia, though I might actually be a day out. I stupidly didn't actually record the exact day I started bleeding after coming off the pill. I know it was only a day or two later though. I stopped at the end of a packet.

Since coming off the pill I've had crazy hormones all over the place, but they were worse during my 'fertile window'. I also had stomach cramps, nausea, and really bad headaches this week. I'm really hoping this is something positive and not just some bug that I happened to catch!

Shellbell0403 · 19/09/2014 21:34

Evening ladies Smile

Awww scienceteachergeek that's fab... Will keep my fingers crossed for you!! They say u can't test until after its due unless u buy one of the ones u can test a day before etc! Unfortunately I done a test and it was negative Hmm no honeymoon baby! Hopefully next month...

I'm guessing it's side effects of the first month off pill Hmm how long did it take everyone's first AF after pill?

Thanks ladies xx

ThenewMrsB82 · 19/09/2014 21:41

I've had the mother of all headaches and feel hugely sick now.. Fingers crossed for a BFP X

Augustwedding · 19/09/2014 22:07

Please can I join?

I have had my coil out today so I guess we are trying from here! Bit scary its a real possibility now, but scary in a good way!

I have bought the clear blue ovulation kit but not tried it yet, anyone using it?

scienceteachergeek · 19/09/2014 22:59

Spotting and cramps haven't turned into AF yet...taken my first folic acid tablet just in case!!! I fear I may be jumping the gun but hey ho!

When you testing MrsB82?

Welcome Augustwedding and ainat.

I've been using cheapy internet ovulation sticks augustwedding.

ThenewMrsB82 · 20/09/2014 08:16

I just tested because I'm impatient but it was negative but my ovia app said to test next Friday..

scienceteachergeek · 20/09/2014 08:53

Hehe, I just tested too, because I'm also impatient!!! I also got a negative and will be testing on Friday. MrsB82 we must be cycle buddies! Who are we kidding? We'll probably test with every first urine..I'd better order more strips!

Still spotting today, just pink when I wipe. No cramps this morning but still swollen, still runny poo and a full on cold....back to bed for me. I'd NEVER be up this early if it wasn't for the need to POAS!

Shellbell0403 · 20/09/2014 09:21

Morning ladies ??

I have cold/flu symptoms to its horrific ????

Positive thinking ladies ?? xx

TheProofIsInThePudding · 20/09/2014 13:40

I had that cold last week - I sympathise. For me it didn't last long, but I did feel rotten for a couple of days. I recommend hot chocolate and a good book or film!

batfish · 20/09/2014 13:47

Hi all, I first joined mumsnet almost 2 years ago when we were about to TTC, however I was then diagnosed with an overactive thyroid so we had to put it on hold until that was all sorted. Fast forward to now and I have had my thyroid removed and eventually am on the correct dose of thyroxine to have the correct levels of thyroid function. In the middle of all that I was told by my gynae that my ovaries looked poly cystic but that could all just have been down to the thyroid meds I was on at the time. So he put me back on the pill and said to go back and see him when the thyroid stuff was sorted. I saw him today and he says everything now looks perfect! So that now means that we have the all clear to TTC!

I have another week of my pill packet left so am going to take it (not sure why, just feels like I should finish it off) and then we can go for it - feeling a little bit excited and a little bit terrified right now! Most of our friends seem to have had difficulties in getting pregnant and/or having a healthy pregnancy so I am sure it may take us a while but it feels a bit scary that we can even try! Also I am 33 so time is probably not on my side.

I also don't have a clue about how it all works so I will have to do some more reading on here and work out ovulation etc.

Good luck to everyone who is trying!

Baffers100 sorry I have no idea how to answer your question but I am sure someone with more of a clue than me will be along soon :-)

Kym134 · 20/09/2014 13:48

Hi all,
I am due to get my implant (implanon) out next week and we will be TTC1 when I get to normal. I have been on the implant for 9 years and so I am a bit apprehensive of what normal may be....

batfish · 20/09/2014 13:49

Oops I'm being stupid, the questions from Baffers100 was on page 1 but the message goes on to page 6 - so just ignore that last comment!

Ainat266 · 20/09/2014 14:05

Eurgh. Feeling a bit 'down in the dumps' today. Been an emotional wreck all week - not necessarily feeling sad, just emotional. I've also had headaches and cramps this week. Today I've got a bit of queasyness, slight headache, I'm really tired (despite having a good nights sleep last night) and have a metallic taste in my mouth. It sort of stopped whilst I was eating lunch, but after lunch straight back to that metallic taste.

I really hope this are all positive signs, but first cycle off the pill - I guess it's unlikely.

Ainat266 · 20/09/2014 14:11

Oh, and can I just ask - those that are poas - what tests are you using? My Ovia says I shouldn't be testing until next weekend so I'm trying to hold out. I have a clearblue test, but they are expensive compared to other brands out there? They are meant to be more accurate though right? But then this morning when I was out shopping I saw that they had tests in the pound shop. How different can all these tests really be?

Ainat266 · 20/09/2014 14:13

Ha - I accidentally posted a link to the car insurance website. Woops. That'll teach me to 'preview' and not just to 'post'

Sorry guys.

Confused
Joey0805 · 20/09/2014 16:54

I will be using the clear blue monitor but this is first cycle after coming off the pill so is too soon. For now just using ovulation sticks from boots. I was "supposed" to ovulate Wednesday and it's not happened yet! Lots of DTD in case it happened between sticks just in case lol. I suspect after 13 years on the pill it's not going to happen this cycle. Hoping for AF soon actually (due a week today) so i have some sort of sign my body is working properly.

OP posts:
scienceteachergeek · 20/09/2014 17:31

Internet cheap ones are just as good. My cheap ovulation sticks work just fine.

There are plenty of folk on here who use the ones from poundland. It's all the same thing ainat...they're all looking for the same hormone.

Jessica85 · 20/09/2014 17:39

Hi everyone, I think I posted ages ago but been a bit unwell and unable to dtd. I came of the implant a couple of weeks ago, but haven't ovulated yet (I think). I read somewhere that 55% of women ov within 3 weeks, so I'm hoping mine will happen soon.

I keep getting dead excited and then really nervous. Anyone else having similar, or am I just crazy?!

Augustwedding · 20/09/2014 19:37

Feeling crap today after having coil out, sick and tired! Spoke to best friend who is a midwife ( have told her TTC) and she says perfectly normal! I have forgotten what is like to have AF so will be a shock when it comes :)

Can you start using ovulation sticks straight away? Have had conflicting advice!

Shellbell0403 · 20/09/2014 20:43

Can anyone tell me how long the waited for their first AF after coming off the pill? I'm nearly a week late but test neg.... Still waiting ?? xx

scienceteachergeek · 20/09/2014 21:37

Yeah August, start using ovulation sticks as soon as you have them.

Shell I had no wait at all. I just stopped taking them, had the period and had another period 29 days after. From what people say on here I'm vey lucky!

Cramps are back and have continued spotting.
