Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Hi Ladies,

Me too.. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I used to get the pregnancy paranoia all the time and now I'm trying for the first time I'm paranoid I won't be able to get pregnant..

Is anyone else charting their ovulation? I'm not sure how to get started.. any tips?
x

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:35

Thanks.. I don't but I'll have a look. I have a HTC. x

Jcandy · 08/09/2014 21:36

You can get ovia on Android too Smile

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:48

I got it! It's great.. do you know if it accesses your calendar and sends you alerts? I tried one of these apps when I had an i phone and it kept sending me alerts at really bad times.. eg when I was showing my friend who is having fertility problems a picture on my phone.. I gave up trying with that app of course! x

ThenewMrsB82 · 08/09/2014 21:48

PS is everyone else trying straight away? Mr B and I are waiting until Christmastime.. are you all taking preconception vitamins etc? x

Emilyjane11 · 08/09/2014 21:55

No it doesn't give you calendar alerts you just log each day and input data. It tells you when your ovulating and when you can do a pg test etc.

And yes, ThenewMrsB82 i am trying straight away and take some pre natal vitamins, good luck!! Xx

Baffers100 · 08/09/2014 22:23

Thanks EmilyJane, downloading now! This is day 2 of really bad cramps but at the moment everything is like "ooh I could be prehnant, or coming on, or pregnant, or mad?!"

Pre-vitamins? Yep, taking Pregnacare Conception. Got it on a 3 for 2 in Boots ;)

Emilyjane11 · 09/09/2014 05:29

See how you get on it definitely made sense of things for me!! I'm definitely a novice when it comes to all this. Fingers crossed the cramps are sign of a little one! Xx

ThenewMrsB82 · 09/09/2014 19:39

Well.. Mr B and I decided today to just start trying now.. all very exciting. The Ovia app says I should be ovulating soon I just peed on one of those sticks that you can get on the internet and a really faint pink line appeared.. but I cannot tell from the packet instructions if that is positive for ovulation or not.. has anyone tried one of the clearblue ovulation ones? x

HollyJenni · 09/09/2014 22:19

Hi ladies. I am 28, I stopped taking Cerezette yesterday, been on the pill since I was 17. I am wondering also how long it will be for my periods to return and how bad they will be!!!!

Moomin37 · 10/09/2014 20:54

Hello Everyone :)
This is my first post and I'm still getting used to all the acronyms! I am 35 and stopped taking Yasmin two months ago, but still no sign of AF (I have been on the pill for about 14 years). We're keen to start trying for baby number one (yeek I can't believe I just typed that - makes it seem so real!) but not sure what my body is doing :-/ I ordered some 'Conceive Plus Fertility Lubricant' which arrived today, so fingers crossed it's as good as the reviews. Like others I'm trying to take things as they come, but I'm quickly learning that is easier said than done... I've not told anyone about this, so I'm really pleased to find this place and that everyone seems so lovely and friendly.

Emilyjane11 · 10/09/2014 21:13

Aw good luck Moomin37 i have only been actively trying for about two weeks so im right there with you!

we aren't telling anyone so its nice to come on here and have a chat. Good luck :)

Moomin37 · 10/09/2014 21:24

Thanks Emilyjane - good luck to you too Smile

Mariclaire82 · 10/09/2014 21:41

Hi all, have just started trying 3 weeks ago for the first time- I've spent so many years trying not to get pregnant I didn't realise how complicated it is! We're not telling anyone at moment but at 32 most friends already have 1 or 2 so I think people have guessed. Good luck everyone!

ThenewMrsB82 · 10/09/2014 21:43

Yes good luck.. we aren't telling anyone either so it's exciting to come on here and say it to people!

Emilyjane11 · 10/09/2014 21:45

Has everyone downloaded Ovia app? I'm recommending it to everyone, i didn't have a clue what i was doing with predicting my cycles after coming off pill but this has helped loads xx

Jessica85 · 10/09/2014 21:46

Hi everyone, can I join too? I had my implant out a couple of weeks ago and we're trying straight away. I have also spent the last 10 years trying not to get pregnant, and now it feels like I can't wait. But at the same time I'm kinda scared - I'm a wimp about pain so know I'll be crap at childbirth. I'm glad I've found somewhere to chat though, dp doesn't want to talk about it too much cos he gets stressed, poor thing!

I'm using ic opks and not got a positive mrsb82, I think on mine I'm looking for a line at least as dark as the control line. I've had faint lines, but nothing dark, and my body temp has stayed fairly constant so I haven't ovulated yet (assuming I'm doing this all correctly of course).

Jessica85 · 10/09/2014 21:48

Emily, I've downloaded the ovia app! but I'm only using it for tracking temp really, cos I don't understand all the other stuff.

Emilyjane11 · 10/09/2014 21:52

I've not temped yet, it confuses me. I may start though if i get any more obsessed, i also haven't done any opk's. I think I'll see how i get on. With ovia i just out whether I've had sex, whether I've taken my vitamin, any symptoms, position of cervix ect. The more you use the more accurate it will be. And I'm also petrified of labour, if j think about that too much i freak, I'm very bad with pain xx

Jessica85 · 10/09/2014 22:04

Temping is actually something my mother explained to me when I was about 13. She was trying to explain the unreliability of the 'natural family planning' she had been taught at school, as for her it meant an extra baby - tho obv we're glad she was rubbish at it or we wouldn't have dsis.

I'm trying my best to understand my cycles, I can't believe I've gone 29 years without actually understanding how my body works! I can't seem to figure out what cervical position is tho.

ThenewMrsB82 · 10/09/2014 22:04

Ah OK thanks.. I ordered the clear blue one anyway just because it will be easier to read I think.. X

Joey0805 · 10/09/2014 23:32

I'm taking pregnacare and also separate folic acid (given you can't seem to take too much haha). I haven't started doing anything else though as I only took my last pill a week ago so my body hasn't had the time to realise anything is different yet! I had assumed using the ovulation sticks / clear blue fertility monitor would be enough so interesting that a few of you are temping too...do you do it at a set time every day? And what is all of the cervix position business? I have to admit I'm pretty appalled at myself reaching 32 in complete ignorance of how my body works.

pinkie1982 · 10/09/2014 23:33

Same here. I'm 31, been with partner 7 years and been on the pill for 16 years. I stopped my pill on Saturday.

tessiegirl · 10/09/2014 23:46

Can I please join too?! I am 30, married and taking my last pill tomorrow after being on it for 13 years. Have started to take folic acid and reading 'What to expect before you are expecting'. I really don't want to become obsessed but it is hard not to! We live abroad so will wait until I return to the UK next month to get some ovulation sticks while we wait for AF to arrive! I might even get some of that ConceivePlus lube as I have heard very good reviews. I'm not getting obsessed, honest!! Haha!

Emilyjane11 · 11/09/2014 05:51

We are all guilty aren't we!! Its hard not to get obsessed isn't it?! I'm finding that the cervix position is working for me this month, i may try something else next month. Google what your feeling for and it makes it make a lot of sense, when your ovulating it should be open and feel soft like your lips. It makes more sense if you read about it online i won't give tmi. Haha x
