Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

Hello all.
I used the CB ov test last week that indicated a peek mid-week, which considering AF hasn't made an appearance since I stopped taking the pill in October was encouraging! So I guess I just have to wait now, but not really expecting a BFP as I am sure it is too soon and my hormones are all of a jumble. How is everyone getting on?

Shellbell0403 · 08/12/2014 13:28

My AF is due today... So will see ??
Going to docs wed for opinions and options after blood results!

Xx

mrsdos · 10/12/2014 08:09

Hope it goes well at the doctors today Shell xx

Shellbell0403 · 10/12/2014 10:16

Didn't get a chance to see the doc today ??
Anyone know anything or anyways to make AF more regular and increase CM?
How's everyone else getting on? Xx

Hi All,

I'm new to all this forum stuff and I'm just posting so that I can perhaps get some tips from other people's experience.
I'm 23, my OH is 27. I've been off implanon for 15 months now and been on no other contraception and nothing has happened. Since January this year I've been having 2 day periods and really regular cycles of 27/28 days. Previous to the implant my periods were 4/5 days in length. However, seeing as they've been so regular I haven't even considered this to be a problem. We haven't been "trying" however we most certainly have not been "not trying", we have been having very regular intercourse and have not been using any contraception, we don't drink/smoke.
So I'm utterly baffled and tbh a little stressed now which I know won't help. I've invested in a clearblue advanced fertility monitor but as the first one was fault and my cycle started on the 1st of the month (which I found very strange in itself as this never happens) I now cannot use it until my next cycle starts. I'm using regular cheapy ovulation test strips for the time being. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of similar issues.

Also, does anyone have any experience of conceiving when their partner has at some point taken steroids?

Thank you all so much in advance and I have my fingers crossed for each and every one of you xx

Room for one more in here?

I'm 31, DH is 32, we got married last month and we're getting straight into it! I came off the pill two weeks ago after 12 years on it so right now I'm just waiting to see what my body does. I'm not charting but I've got some ovulation sticks so I can see if anything is happening.

It's complicated for me by the fact I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17... however at the time I was also on Epilim (sodium valproate) for epilepsy, which I didn't know back then is linked to PCOS. I was taken off it when I was 19 - it causes birth defects so as I was of 'childbearing age' the NHS decided I shouldn't have it anymore and put me on Lamotrigine instead. Two months after coming off the Epilim I had my first natural period in about three years! So after a decade off Epilim and on BC I have no idea what my ovaries look like. I haven't been troubled by PCOS symptoms for years but I don't know if that's just because they were controlled by the BC and they'll all come flooding back now, or because they were caused by the Epilim in the first place.

We have spoken to our GP and she said if we go six months ttc with no results she'll refer me for investigations but not before. So we're embarking on an unknown adventure!

Hi,
First month of TTC, cycle day 22 ( I think) and I'm feeling disappointed as I don't think we are pregnant this month. :( I don't feel different or have any symptoms.
I know, I know, it can take months or even years to conceive, but I can't help but feel down and question what else can we do. I also panic it may never happen.....
I can't really say too much to OH as he says to just relax and see what happens naturally.... I on the other hand am plotting calendars and fertile windows etc. I am so excited we are finally taking the plunge after so many years that I am getting carried away/slightly obsessed, it just means so much I guess.
Any tips to prevent craziness?
S.S

Well ladies AF has arrived.. 6 days late!! Here's to a Christmas conception for everyone ????

How's everyone getting on? Any updates or any advice to share? Poss about making more regular?

Xx

SockQueen · 14/12/2014 04:37

Not much to say from me - DH has been working away in the week and I'm on night shifts this weekend, so not much chance to DTD regularly as I would like.

I've volunteered for a research study at the hospital I work at - they're recruiting young women who've not had a child yet and doing various tests as a baseline then extras if you get pregnant. My appointment's not till February, and if I'm already pregnant then I won't be eligible, but at least it gives me something positive to do if I haven't caught by then!

Shellbell0403 · 14/12/2014 07:45

My AF is actually playing up!! Here yesterday and no sign so far today!! It's doing my head in!!

That sounds interesting sockqueen!! What kind of tests etc?xxx

SockQueen · 14/12/2014 09:34

I'm not sure of all of them. A lot is not specifically pregnancy-related, it's a general "women's health" study so things like bloods, an echocardiogram, lots of body shape/fat measurements (eek!) but if you do get pregnant then they do some extra blood tests and a couple of extra scans (at 7 and 28 weeks, IIRC) and monitor how your cardiovascular system changes with and after pregnancy. I have participated in a few research studies before and saw a flyer at work and thought I'd give it a go!

Joey0805 · 14/12/2014 22:52

Well hello there! I have had a month off Mumsnet as I was getting so stressed about my lack of AF. I'm now on CD71 or CD 100 (depends if mini bleed counts or not) and still no sign...making the most of a pregnancy free Christmas and decided to start thinking about it all seriously again in the new year.

Serenity - I have come off Lamotrogene which I take for epilepsy S we're TTC and as in so long without a period (and scarily I'm not on meds) I have bloods done last week so just waiting to hear back. Hope it goes well for you!!

Hello Ladies,
Hope you are all well. Looking for some advice?! As previously posted I think I ov'd earlier in the month, since then I have had a few suspect 'symptoms' but as AF has not appeared since I stopped bc in october I'm really not sure whether I am clutching at straws?!

Porchrules · 19/12/2014 09:37

Hi mrsdos - how are you getting along? I came off bc in June and after my withdrawal bleed (August 13) didn't see af for a full two months (oct 13 - oddly exactly two months!). Am now 1 day late on last months dates and absolutely no symptoms whatsoever... Sad very frustrating to not be regular! Hang in there - they should settle down eventually.

mrsdos · 19/12/2014 10:10

Hi Porch. Fx that af stays away!Smile Still havent had a visit myself, but had lots of symptoms so bought some internet cheapies and a bfp on wednesday! Have done a cb early test as well which was positive, havent even told dh yet as still dont quite believe it!

Shellbell0403 · 19/12/2014 10:15

Fingers crossed ladies ?? I'm on my next month ?? xx

Porchrules · 19/12/2014 11:36

Oh mrsdos that is amazing!! Congratulations and Flowers to you!! I've had two bfns so far and no symptoms so not hopeful for this month. Wondering about soy for next month and have booked a drs appnt too... Have fun telling your DH!! Xx

Porchrules · 19/12/2014 12:25

With you I think Shell - fx jam will be the month! Smile

Shellbell0403 · 19/12/2014 13:56

Ahh thanks ?? fx ur right porch! What you going to do? Think I would be the same as you! Lots of tests haha! Xx

Porchrules · 19/12/2014 20:16

Need to invest in some cheaper tests that's for sure - it's getting expensive!! Think I'm getting some twinges in my lower back so prob a sign that the witch is coming...! But I'd rather she turn up and we get onto the next month than sit around waiting! Huff! Are you nice and regular shell? X

mrsdos · 19/12/2014 20:35

Thanks Porch, I am so excited, but terrified at the same time. I bought a load of cheap tests from amazon, £2.50 or something for 15 or so.. they are extra early tests too and quick postage. No idea how to keep it a secret over Christmas and New year! Fx for you both in January xx

Shellbell0403 · 19/12/2014 21:20

Congrats Mrsdos! Just make sure ur Other half gets U the drinks and make sure they get put in a wine glass etc ??
Porch I was 35 days since aug but last one was 42 days ?? not sure exact time I'm ovulating either so will defo need to get some tests and check!! Scared! Haha!! I'm taking all the vitamins etc but from jan onwards dieting and joining a gym to see if that will help to! Got tested at docs but came back negative but think they tested at wrong time!
Hope AF stays away! Xx

Serenity05 · 21/12/2014 15:27

Wow, congratulations mrsdos! That's so wonderful!

I'm in my 2ww wait now - I ovulated this past week and boy did it make itself known! Horrendously sore nipples, constipation, and a twinge of ovulation pain for an hour or so on Tuesday (CD16). It was uncomfortable but considering I was worried it wouldn't happen at all, I'm not going to complain. However I have read conflicting reports on whether ovulation pain is normal or a sign that something could be wrong... anyone have any experience with that?

Porchrules · 23/12/2014 21:58

I'm currently on cd34 She'll and have had a different length each month since stopping the pill in July so totally feel your frustration! Booked a docs appnt for next wk just to have a chat - what tests did you have?? Don't worry Serenity - I always get twingey pains when ov'ing - think its a good sign as something's happening! Fx for January for us all! Thanks mrsdos for your wishes! Xx

SockQueen · 24/12/2014 22:44

Congratulations mrsdos!

Currently CD 27, but the last one was only 24 days so who knows where we are really? No obvious symptoms. I think my SiL may be upduffed though - we are staying together at PiLs' and she isn't drinking and seems to be steering clear of the blue cheese too...

Merry Christmas to you all and best of luck to all those dealing with uncertainty at the moment!
