Hello,

Was just wondering whether anybody has had a similar experience?

When trying for first child got pregnant the first month, however that ended in MC. Luckily I got pregnant again with DD after first month of trying again.

DD is now three, we would have started TTC sooner but I went back I Uni and I'm due to finish in November.

We have been trying for 5 months and no luck, worried that I've left it too late as I'm now 37.

Hello everyone and congratulations on the BFPs recently!

I've posted a few times on here but more of a lurker at the moment as we've been having a break from TTC for a couple of months for various reasons.
Having a break has made me realise how completely pointless symptom spotting is! I've still been 'seeing' all the symptoms I would previously have been convinced meant I was pregnant. It's actually been strangely relaxing, still tracking ovulation etc but without the 2ww stress..Can't wait to get back on it and start torturing myself in the New Year though!

BobsyBoo · 16/11/2014 23:02

Ginger that's really interesting I never knew a website that could adjust your temperature existed, thanks for the info I'll google it.

Hello Emperor yes you're right there I often get 'symptoms' before ov then realise I'm not on the 2ww. Glad the break from TTC is relaxing, I'd love to take a break from it but don't feel I can at my age & the age gap getting bigger & bigger. New Year & fresh start with the TTC & hopefully not long before a BFP for you.

GingerbreadHead · 17/11/2014 07:40

No problem Bobsy! I think if you google bbt adjuster it should come up for you. It was useful for me as I too struggled to take my temp at the same time every morning and have a solid 4 hours of sleep beforehand.
Hi Emperor! Nice to hear from you again, glad you have been enjoying a nice break, and lots of good luck to you for the new year! Let us know how you get on x

HazleNutt · 17/11/2014 09:36

my CB digi showed me a nice 3+ this morning, and it came up really fast, so that was reassuring to see.

Metalhead · 17/11/2014 09:44

That's great hazle - now step away from the pee sticks and try and relax! Wink

A break from ttc sounds lovely emperor, and you're absolutely right about the symptom spotting. Still doesn't make it any easier to try and refrain from analysing every twinge...

AF was due today but I've actually started taking some pills now to delay it until the end of the week, so that I don't risk not being able to have the ultrasound when I go and see the Asherman's specialist on Thursday. Just hope it works, I really need to get this done now so I know what I'm dealing with.

HazleNutt · 17/11/2014 10:58

I will, promise! I'm out of sticks anyway :)

crispiecrunchie · 17/11/2014 17:14

Yay hazel I think you can relax. In my mc in September I never got past 1-2 weeks on those darn sticks despite being 7 so I know if I get pregnant I'll not relax till I see that 3. And then not till the 12 week scan etc etc!!!!

HazleNutt · 17/11/2014 17:22

same here, had an early mc and sticks never moved past 1-2. Have a scan date too, 5th of December, should hopefully see heartbeat then.

tattyteddy · 17/11/2014 18:49

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't been on the thread for a while I was really busy with finishing dissertation. I also took some time away from TTC as it felt all a bit stressful. Back to TTC again after AF shows this month again.

I'm glad to see some people have had BFPs and hope others will get theirs soon.

Ha Metalhead I've still found myself analysing every twitch over the last couple of months! I have to remind myself I couldn't physically be pregnant..I keep telling myself I won't obsess when we start again. I know I will though. Hope Thursday goes ok for you

At 36 I'm right behind you Bobsy, it's my age that worries me rather than the age gap. Though DS turned 3 last week so we're looking at the 4 years at the very least. I keep reminding myself my mum was 43 when she had me!

Hello again Tatty, sounds like we'll be starting up with the TTC again at roughly the same time, hopefully Ginger and Hazle have started a new trend of BFPs

Emperor 36 isn't that bad (although I started TTC at 36), a girl at work got pg with #2 age 36 straight after coming off the pill Envy

I'm also starting to think that a 5+ year age gap is too big.

lovemyboy It's hard not to obsess. I'm on 8dpo but I'm just waiting for the inevitable pre-AF spotting to start which should be anytime from tomorrow onwards. I knew at 1dpo that I hadn't conceived (I just know) so no need for me to do the 2ww although it doesn't stop me from analysing any slight difference! On to cycle 22, which will be tricky anyway as my predicted fertile window ties in with weekend that OH is on his Xmas do so will be far too drunk then tired and hung over the next day! I shouldn't even thinking that far ahead but I can't help it, it's no wonder I'm so stressed and feeling down with it all. Good luck to you, yes 10dpo is early for testing.

Welcome back tattyteddy good for you having a break from TTC, it is very stressful. Good luck for your next cycle xxx

lovesmycake · 20/11/2014 07:52

Hello everyone, well we never managed to do our covert ttc at the parents house unfortunately DS started projectile vomiting pretty much the minute we got there! and I've been ill ever since we got home!!

bobsy I have two older brothers 5 and 7 yrs older then me and we are all very close as are all our children so don't lose hope just yet!

I guess I'm officially on the TWW not symptom spotting just yet unless you count lying in bed for three days intermittently throwing up a symptom Hmm

Sorry to not respond more to everyone, but glad to hear all the BFP'ers are doing well and good luck to everyone else :)

HazleNutt · 20/11/2014 08:51

bobsy, the friend I mentioned earlier, from my TTC number1 thread on MN, who has a son 1 day older than mine - she got pregnant on her 2nd month of trying. She's 40.

And 5 years is not too big of a gap - I have 7 years with my sister and while we were not terribly close as children, I'm sure glad she is around now.

loves sorry to hear about DS, hope you both will feel better soon!

Treesandbees · 20/11/2014 09:52

Sorry I have been mia...

Loves sorry you have been poorly. Hopefully you are over the worst of it now?? I have had a headache for the best part of a week so took the day off work today to try and get over it. Dont know if it is a hangover from the Soy or a virus?!

I have lost track of where everyone is at on their CD? I am CD14, waiting for ovulation. Had 4 days of 'High' readings so I think I will 'peak' in the next day or two. We have only managed to DTD once so far (last night) but going to try and DTD for the next few days solid! I always find it a hard balance when to start and not burn out (!). Along with the soy I am trying preseed this month but I cant tell whether I have got EWCM or pre seed goo now...

Still waiting for my scan but having my CD21 bloods repeated next week so we will see if that is any different. Contemplating going private for the scan as I cant stand the waiting around.

Bobsy what CD are you now? Also there is 6 years between me and my brother and we are close. I have always been very protective of him because of the gap so I guess the dynamic is slightly different but wouldnt be without him!

Waves to Emperor & Tatty and any other newbies (well to me anyhow)!

Metalhead · 20/11/2014 10:40

On my way to London to see the specialist... I'm so nervous! What if he doesn't find anything? What if he does and it's really bad? Aargh!

GingerbreadHead · 20/11/2014 11:26

Good luck metal!! hopefully you will get some answers, and at least you will know either way where you stand! fx for you.

Hi trees, good luck for your cd21 bloods, and good luck dtd over the next few days!

bobsy There are 8 years between me and my sis, 10 between me and my bro. I was very close to my DB growing up, and am close to both of them now, as are our children. I understand the panic of the increasing age gap, but just try and think every family has it's own dynamic, it might not be what you wanted, but you will still be a family, and alot of it is down to personality rather than age. Are you joining DH on his work do? Maybe a bit of drunken antics could work for you? Wink

Ah loves, sorry to hear you've been unwell, how rubbish! And how rude to interrupt your parents house capers! Did you manage much dtd otherwise? Hope you start feeling better soon.

lovesmycake · 20/11/2014 11:30

Oooh good luck metal I also hope you get some answers.

ginger we did SMEP up till I OV and we dtd the night before I OV'd so I'm still hopeful but we will see.

Treesandbees · 20/11/2014 11:38

Will be thinking of you Metal! Like Ginger says at least you will get some answers one way or another and fingers crossed it is good news. Let us know how you get on!

BobsyBoo · 20/11/2014 12:08

Hazle I've read a few stories on Mumsnet of women getting pregnant in their forties easily which is good, but unfortunately I am not so lucky 22 cycles of trying from age 36 to 38.

Loves Sorry you've not been well hope you're feeling better soon.

Trees I'm on CD25 and the inevitable spotting has started.

Metal Good luck, will be thinking of you.

Ginger No its just for people that work there.

Just started spotting, so I know now I'm definitely out, I knew I was anyway but it doesn't make it any easier. 22 cycles down and it's time to accept Secondary Infertility Sad

lovemyboy247 · 20/11/2014 12:15

Metal- hope it goes ok today.
Loves- hope your feeling better now. Im stsrting to think my syptom dpotting was illness now too as I have the 11dpo poas bug now. Big fat negative this morn keep telling myself its still too early and that I still could be preggers but doubtful now.
Hi Trees been looking back at your posts. Hope scan goes well for you waiting around is a pain in arse isnt it must be as bad as the tww.
Bobsy also just over 5 years between me and my big bro and although he wax never keen on me embarrassing him when I was younger now we are very close especially after loosing our mum to cancer. Hr rings me every night since she died and that was two years ago. Anyway you are not too old ive got lots of mummy friends in there 40s with babies. Your still prime... x

lovesmycake · 20/11/2014 13:03

lovemy It is still to early to test so don't give up just yet.

bobsy your right other peoples stories are not your own, I can't imagine how hard 22 cycles must be, I really can't and my heart goes out to you right now :( I think its perfectly reasonable that you feel down life is really unfair sometimes.

I think you should make an appointment at your Dr's or even better with a different doctor. You need some answers. The answer isn't your age because your not that old so tell them to do one if they try saying that and yes the DTD situation isn't ideal with your DH but even so you ARE having sex which should be enough. I'm sure there are other options available for you, you just need to find a sympathetic doctor.

But until then have one of these Wine and feel free to vent away to us on here.

Metalhead · 20/11/2014 13:09

Thanks for all your kind thoughts ladies, don't know what I'd do without you all!

Well it looks like I was right Sad. The consultant did a thorough scan and discovered an area at the bottom of my uterus that looks like it's got some adhesions, which would explain why my periods have been lighter and would also mean the sperm can't get through. He wants to do a hysteroscopy to divide the adhesions, which will cost £5k! I suppose the good news is that he was quite confident I will be able to conceive afterwards, but at the moment I'm just a bit in shock, even though I was expecting it.

Sorry about the spotting bobsy and BFN love.

HazleNutt · 20/11/2014 13:26

Metal, it is good news - at least you have a reason that can be fixed.
