Hello,

Was just wondering whether anybody has had a similar experience?

When trying for first child got pregnant the first month, however that ended in MC. Luckily I got pregnant again with DD after first month of trying again.

DD is now three, we would have started TTC sooner but I went back I Uni and I'm due to finish in November.

We have been trying for 5 months and no luck, worried that I've left it too late as I'm now 37.

If they're relatively close friends I would just tell them hazle, I found it much harder to pretend nothing had happened after my mmc than I would have done talking about it. (And I don't usually like to broadcast my feelings either.)

HazleNutt · 14/11/2014 18:43

I had a mc as well and the opposite, preferred to pretend nothing happened and would have hated everybody coming with the 'aww poor you' comments, even if sincere ones. then again, tomorrow's friends would probably know to leave me alone in such situation.

Metalhead · 14/11/2014 19:26

Ah well, in that case you'll just have to come up with a good excuse! Pre-Christmas detox...?

GingerbreadHead · 14/11/2014 21:18

Good luck with the non-drinking gathering Hazle! I have just given up and cancelled on the night out we were supposed to be having tomorrow, sending DH on his own, and I am going to eat popcorn and watch a cheesy film instead Grin Also not sure I want to tell anyone just yet, I feel like I ought to tell my DM as she knows how long we have been trying, but I'm just so worried something is going to go wrong.
Bobsy hopefully you did ov this month, but just missed it when using the opks and your temp has been a bit funny with using two different thermometers? Everything crossed for the soy working for you this month. If not, you really do need to go and talk to your doc again, it's just not acceptable for them to dismiss you for your age, fair enough if you were 48 but not 38! Try and look after yourself for the next couple of weeks, do lots of nice things for yourself and eat/drink lots of lovely christmas food, mulled wine sounds like an excellent idea! You too loves sorry you are feeling down again, allow yourself time to mope but then try and pick up that positive spirit you had! It's such a bloody rollercoaster isn't it, up one second down the next.

Good luck to those of you on the 2WW!

BobsyBoo · 14/11/2014 23:02

I hope so Ginger I'm still testing just in case but really I can't imagine I'll ov now, my boobs are sore and my mood is really low so I must be on LP. I just don't get why after taking the Soy that my body couldn't ovulate. The 2 thermometers haven't helped and my times taking my temp as you're supposed to have a few hours solid sleep, but I wake up several times in the night/early morning. I am going to try the Soy again next cycle but I will change the days, even though I am a bit worried about what will happen next cycle. I've stopped taking the Maca capsules in case they are messing me up. Well at least I know I can drink as much mulled wine as I want to these next few weeks. I've got a few things planned on the lead up to Xmas so should hopefully take my mind off things, and I suppose at least I can have a few drinks over Xmas and New Year. I just can't help thinking it will never be me though. It'll be 2 years in January since we started trying so if it's not happened in 2 years why would it happen now Sad

What makes this worse is thinking last Christmas that I would have a baby by this Christmas and now I don't know if I will even have a baby by next Christmas.

I would tell your DM, but obviously I understand you not wanting to tell other people.

alien11 · 15/11/2014 08:17

Well AF arrived on cd35 so I'm obviously ovulating lots later than I thought & totally missed the boat so to speak!

HazleNutt · 15/11/2014 08:35

alien, you weren't using a monitor or ov sticks? When I first started TTC, I was also surprised to discover I ov'd several days later than I though, easy to miss the window.

Bobsy studies have shown, that plenty of women will get pregnant naturally, even after trying unsuccessfully for more than a year.

Me; it's been long but after conceiving first time first time round it's a bit if a surprise
Friend announced she was pg yesttday I was jealous Blush

alien11 · 15/11/2014 09:11

Hazelnut yes I was using the cb digital ovulation test as part of the cb trial! This cycle I'll make sure I dtd more around days 22 onwards :) I don't have any more digital trials left or ov sticks . Onwards to the next cycle knowing my last two were 35 days I can change my dtd routine to fit in with that. Shall see what December brings!

HazleNutt · 15/11/2014 10:14

if you need cheapo sticks, you can get a bag of 50 for 7.95 from Amazon.

I'm worried here as usual, don't seem to have any pregnancy symptoms, surely there should be something by now?

Metalhead · 15/11/2014 10:21

hazle how far along are you? Apart from a bit of cramping, I didn't start to get any symptoms until around 6-7 weeks.

HazleNutt · 15/11/2014 10:35

about 5+4 today. I didn't really have symptoms with DS either, but you know how it is, still can't stop worrying. Those last weeks of pregnancy are the slowest ever - only comparable to last month of pregnancy.

crispiecrunchie · 15/11/2014 19:09

I've tested already!!! At best 7 dpo most likely 5 so far too early. I had two ic left. I might just use the other one so it's out the way and I am pretty sure I won't buy any until I am late as I'm getting embarrassed thinking woman in superdrug and Morrison's recognise me every week!!

I am going to relax with a small wine and x factor xx

crispiecrunchie · 15/11/2014 19:11

And agree hazel when it's early the journeyto 12 weeks seems so long. I had no symptoms really first time round except very mild nausea weeks 8 to 10.

lovemyboy247 · 16/11/2014 00:10

I decided to use opk sticks last 2 days as found some old boots ones in a draw. I did this as I read somewhere that poss lines on opk sticks after ov means vould be preg.both test has fsint lines on. I have had tingly nipples and headaches and lots of spots appear on face and cold feet.Prob imagining signs as omly 7 days po. Our brains do funny things when ttc.

BobsyBoo · 16/11/2014 00:30

Alien I find taking my temp & inputting in to my Fertilty Friend app helpful as it pinpoints my ov date. Although this month I've had problems with my temps possibly inaccurate or not ovulating. It's been good on my previous cycles & has now finally pinpointed my ov date for this cycle. They say that many people get a temp dip on the day of ov then after ov temp spikes.

Like Hazle mentioned I got the bag of 50 cheap OPK sticks from Amazon, good job as I've tested so much this week due to not knowing what my body was doing.

Interesting article Hazle although I'm over 36, but was 36 when we started TTC. Some people don't get many symptoms & some not at all. I was about 5 or 6 weeks when I had just 1 day of extreme tiredness & a week after that the nausea kicked in. I had sore boobs before AF was due. Try not to worry & try to be positive, easier said then done I know.

Crispie I always feel like I'm going to bump in to someone I know when I'm buying pg tests or OPK's in the supermarket. I've started buying from Amazon now, not just for fear of bumping into someone but they are normally cheaper.

Had a nice evening tonight had family round for food & a few drinks & I've had a few glasses of wine which was nice.

BobsyBoo · 16/11/2014 00:40

lovemyboy I've read that a few times that positive OPK's after ov can mean your pg. Weird about the cold feet as I always get that when AF due. It has made me wonder if a lot of things that happen after ov would happen whether pg or not & a lot of AF & pg symptoms are the same which is confusing. My boobs are sore now and that means that AF is on her way however when pg with DD I had sore boobs before AF due. Yes our brains certainly do funny things when TTC, for many cycle I found a reason to think I was pg. Not long till you can test fx for you.

lovemyboy247 · 16/11/2014 09:54

Yes I know I am probably looking for signs. 2ww takes fore ever. Glad you had a nice evening bobsy. We were out for dinner with friends last night too had a beer which was nice. I dont worry about buying them anymore although I usualy get them with my grocery shopping delivery.

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 16/11/2014 10:19

Bobsy I think for most people the symptoms after ov are exactly the same until a few days after implantation so don't give up yet! It is the surge in progesterone that causes sore boobs and irritability after ov and you get that whether pg or not. Good that you think you did ov after all.
love opks do show positive if you are preg, they can't differentiate between LH (causes ov) and HCG (preg hormone). However they won't work any earlier than a pregnancy test as they're reacting to the same hormone which isn't at a high enough level until a few days after implantation. Also I think your LH levels fluctuate during your cycle, only high enough for a pos test just before ovulation but a faint line will often be there at other times. Sorry don't mean to sound negative, the other symptoms sound hopeful! Fingers crossed for you, only a couple of days until you can test Smile

BobsyBoo · 16/11/2014 11:18

lovemyboy I'm not even on the 2ww wait & I've symptom spotted some mild cramps to my left side they didn't last long anyway, which I'm sure will be down to the rubbish I ate & wine i drank. Glad you had a nice evening too. I've only recently started testing down to stupid spotting at 9dpo making me think/hope it's implantation! Previous to that I would wait for AF, hundreds of people must buy pg & ov tests every day so don't know why I bother about it.

Mister that's interesting as I did wonder if that was the case, my boobs tend to start getting a bit sore at 1dpo. Yes I think I did but I'm unsure again because I took my temp when I woke up at 4am & it was low again & my app took out the ov line. However I took my temp when I next woke up at 7am it had shot right back up. I am still concerned that I didn't actually ov & my new thermometer which is giving me the lower temps is correct & the old one giving me the higher temps is incorrect. I thought the old one was broken due to having the same temp every morning for days but it is showing high temps now about 6/7am. I have actually got 3 thermometers on my bedside table one of them is a cheap one from Body care that I don't really trust.

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 16/11/2014 11:34

Testing at 4am won't give you an accurate result if you usually test at 7 so I would ignore that one, it has to be consistent times. Should also be after 4 hours uninterrupted sleep, but that was always a bit of a struggle for me with DS!

lovemyboy247 · 16/11/2014 12:11

Thanks ladies. I know im prob imagining things. Didnt realise that about after ov. Thanks Mister.
Its amazing even though we have all been pregnant before we still learning new things. Xx enjoy rest of weekend every one.

BobsyBoo · 16/11/2014 12:17

I know that's probably where my problem is testing at different times. I don't always get 4 hours solid sleep so hard to find the balance between solid sleep and taking temp at same time. I had reverted back to taking my temp at 7.45am when I get up but with DD often waking up at 7am and getting in bed with me I'm usually just dozing till 7.45 so probably not very accurate. I wake up anytime between 2 & 4am for a loo visit then usually awake again around 5am when OH's alarm goes off then awake again when he lives for work about half an hour later.

GingerbreadHead · 16/11/2014 18:23

Bobsy have you ever used a website that adjusts your temperature to what it would be at the time you normally take it? So if you took it at 4am, but normally take it at 7am, you can put in the temp reading you got at 4am and it will adjust it to what it would have read at 7am? Can't remember the name of it but I'm sure it will come up on Google. Sorry if you are already using it, can't remember....also hope that makes sense!
lovemy good luck with the POASing.
Symptoms for me were exactly as if AF was arriving. In fact last saturday I was really annoyed as I was getting pre-AF cramps and thought she was going to arrive a couple of days early, had normal pre-AF sore boobs too, which has just carried on. No other symptoms at all really, so just goes to show symptom spotting is an annoyingly pointless activity we love to torture ourselves with!
Hazle have you been on the July ante-natal thread? Quite a few ladies on there don't have any symptoms either, I think it's very much a hit or miss kind of thing, doesn't mean anything. Embrace it for now!! Hope you're doing ok.
alien good luck for next cycle, must be a relief to be knowing a bit more where you are up to!

lovemyboy247 · 16/11/2014 20:51

Ginger- thanks for good luck wishes. Im gonna leave the poasing for a bit now so I dont toture myself.
Hazel- I had no symptoms with pregnancy no 1 had cramps but tjout af on way. In fact I never had any dymptoms till about 3 months and thay was omly achy boobs and back. Xxx
