The smallprint –
Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 12+ months, NO instadiffers, must have a special pot and definitely no mention of baby dust or baby dancing).
Those not abiding by the rules may be escorted from the premises.

I'm seeing the FS in about three hours (oh yeah, I should mention I'm in Australia too). IVF is looking like the next step.

HowsTheSerenity · 03/06/2014 23:42

I'm new. Dont hurt me. Please. I forgot to mention I'm 34 and ttc #1
What's an instadiffer? Baby dust.... I need a vomit smiley for that nonsense.

FeatherFeather11 · 03/06/2014 23:43

Hi serenity - take it you're a fan of The Castle Wink. Welcome! Although sorry you're here under these shitty yet all too familiar circumstances. Do you mind if I ask how your tubes were unblocked? Mine are a bit rubbish so always interested to hear. Sorry clomid hasn't worked so far. Have you ovulated on it? Also, how old are you?

barking I have literally everything crossed for a miracle for you tomorrow. Everything. Will check in lots to see how you go. You are a strong woman and I doff my cap to you for how you've coped. Flowers

bushy that's a cheek! Asking your at that! Are you going to call the clinic tomorrow morning?

funky amazing that you've made a friend via mumsnet and gone on to be mate-mates. It's a weird feeling knowing someone due around the same time. I have a close colleague that is due the week I wold have been. It's been hard to deal with.

rp Plymouth in jeans sounds perfect! I have wondered several times whether we would have been better off flying to Vegas, just the two of us, and doing it that way. Hmm

chloe thanks! You're right - it is the inky time you get everyone you love under the same roof.

nolly it's ebbs and flows. Just remember there ain't one without the other. Flowers

Must.go.to bed.

HowsTheSerenity · 03/06/2014 23:52

Feather - I had a tubal cannulation. Essentially a high pressure hose shoved up my fanjo. Hurt like all buggery.

HowsTheSerenity · 04/06/2014 03:05

And the verdict is in. First cycle of IVF starts in July.

RevoltingPeasant · 04/06/2014 06:43

Barking thinking of you this morning!

Tallyra · 04/06/2014 07:21

Hi barking. Good luck honey!!!

Serenity, welcome and good luck too!

happylass · 04/06/2014 08:18

Just a quick one to say good luck Barking.

Welcome Serenity. Sorry you've found yourself here but you're in the very best place.

tigerdog · 04/06/2014 08:50

Thinking of you barking. hope you haven't had to wait too long this morning.

Welcome serenity. I'm about to turn 34 and have also been ttc for almost 18 months. Apparently I have to do the same time again to be offered ivf here though as I'm so far unexplained. As you are In Aus does that mean you are going private / via health insurance?

bushy I think it's a real invasion of privacy when people ask such direct questions. I've would probably tell close friends around 12 weeks and colleagues etc well after that.

feather your wedding will be amazing and those who love you will be glad of the opportunity to share it with you. We booked our wedding abroad but had to cancel it as OH's parents kicked off so badly that I thought they might never forgive us - and that was following an apparent lack of interest in our plans beforehand! We still went on the trip though!

Anybody else at the same cycle point as me? 7dpo and imaging symptoms. Obviously my trousers are too tight because I might be pg nothing to do with the excess of chocolate and lack of exercise

barkingtreefrog · 04/06/2014 09:45

bushy parents are always after gossip, doesn't really matter if it's true or not! I'm impressed she actually fished for info though - I'm assuming the ta isn't a known source of gossip for the parents and the mum was just being cheeky?!

serenity instadiffer = someone who gets pg immediately and has absolutely no understanding of what it's like to struggle when ttc.

Thanks for the support berries, head fuck continues this morning. I won't go through it all but basically the results from Monday might not be as bad as I was told as she'd got my dates mixed up, but even with the date correction they're not good. So basically just waiting for today's results now.

OP posts:
CatsCantFlyFast · 04/06/2014 09:52

Ffs barking like you need a mix up to add to your stress and uncertainty

HampshireBlues · 04/06/2014 09:53

Good luck today Barking I really hope that the hCG has gone up significantly.

Sorry not been around for a few day - still trying to get me head around everything and trying deparately hard to get into a decent mindset for my besties baby shower on Saturday!

barkingtreefrog · 04/06/2014 09:59

hb baby showers are horrendous, I generally don't go (ran out of the last one in tears within 10 minutes of arriving), I think you're being very brave.

Just avoiding work and reading up on the K A debate, I like that teachers have waded in now - this is from the Guardian:

Helen Fraser, chief executive of the Girls' Day School Trust, called Allsopp's comments a "throwback to the 1950s" that went against the modern ethos of female education. "University education is incredibly important for girls. It's the end point of everything we do in our schools, so we would be extremely disappointed if girls left school at 16 and tried to find a flat funded by their mother and waited for the nice boyfriend to turn up.

"People deserve to aspire to having both a fulfilling career and a happy family life. That's what men take for granted and girls who leave university at 22 should not be told by anybody that they have to decide between a career or a relationship and children."

Jo Heywood, head of Heathfield girls' school in Ascot, said Allsopp's focus on "boyfriends and babies" was patronising to teenage girls.

Big hugs batking, hope your results are good later x

Hi serenity, I am currently on first IVF cycle, there are some other berries who have also just finished some IVF cycles, and some who are having FETs soon. You have found a very supportive group here Grin

barkingtreefrog · 04/06/2014 10:04

and I think this article sums up the points very nicely. I especially like the recent study.

OP posts:
FeatherFeather11 · 04/06/2014 10:11

Gah barking - what a mess they've made. Hope you have some clarity soon. Fx crossed it all works out xx

lumen · 04/06/2014 10:13

Ha ha batking, good article, I look forward to The Cliff of Infertility when I turn 35 in October. Wink

HowsTheSerenity · 04/06/2014 10:34

This forum is fab. I used to be on MN a lot when I nannied in England. Never thought I'd be back but the Australian forums are full of bd'ing and tickers Envy (that's a vomit smiley) etc.

Tigerdog we have private health insurance with BUPA (money thieving bastards). Medicare, like the NHS, pays a very small amount. Each cycle is about AUS$8000 / £4400 before claiming money back.

WildflowerMarmalade · 04/06/2014 13:12

barking sorry to hear there was a mix up on top if everything else. Mix ups are so frustrating.

Before I ever spoke to an NHS doctor about fertility I assumed that test results, appointment times etc usually we t smoothly. After repeated mistakes from GPs and recptionists I don't think that any more.

Hope you have the firm news you want by now.

serenity welcome to you.

tigerdog those waiting weeks after OV are the worst, so much symptom spotting. If only we could know immediately after the shag whether the old egg was fertilised or not. There should be an app for that.

barkingtreefrog · 04/06/2014 13:45

Bloody hell, they seem to think there's a chance it could still work Shock. Levels have doubled, scan booked for the 19th. I'm shaking and not quite sure what to think. I do think the clinic need to sort out their facts and double check their files and dates and get their story straight - it's gone from 'it'd take a miracle' on Monday, to 'the doctor thinks it's fine to book a scan' today Confused. Apparently there's a 60% chance it'll all be ok.

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 04/06/2014 14:04

Fx crossed for you barking!
Thats really positive news Smile
The clinic really need to sort themselves out though!

lumen · 04/06/2014 14:14

Great news batking I can now concentrate on work and stop refreshing my phone

WildflowerMarmalade · 04/06/2014 14:26

That's brilliant news barking. Get onto that clinic and tell them to get their facts right. Thrilled for you.

FeatherFeather11 · 04/06/2014 14:45

Great news barking!! xxx

SidneyBristow · 04/06/2014 15:33

Barking I'm so happy for you that you've had encouraging news - all fingers & toes crossed that your HCG levels continue to rise. It's so stressful, the waiting - hang in there Thanks
