Mrsm, I came off the pill ages ago. We've been using the very successful contraception method called Living With Your Parents! Grin

After moving from London to Sweden we lived with my parents for 20 months and DS slept in a cot at the foot of our bed so felt a bit gross. We have just bought our own house so thought we might as well get straight down to business, feeling a bit rusty but I'm sure we'll get into the swing of things!

Very excited for all the expecting ladies, and hope you have a better birth experience this time round!

morerummorefun · 07/05/2014 15:18

woo hoo dh has finally admitted defeat and we (I) have our final 2 names!
Violet Smith for a girl and
Parker J. Smith for a boy!
Probably not everyone's cuppa tea but LOVE them! Grin

mrsm22 · 07/05/2014 21:21

Hi Morerum - Good name choices there, very different. We have about 3 boy names we're trying to choose from.
Keeponjuggling - I like the sound of a gro clock, I think I might look into getting one for our DS as bed time is getting later each night. Just remind me how long you've been TTC? I'm sure you don't have PCOS.
Hi Karmanna - that sounds exciting that you've just bought your own house. I can imagine it's a bit of a passion killer at your mum and dads house. Let's hope it doesn't take you long at all!
Well tomorrow DS is going to my mum and dads and me and DH are doing the nursery. Went and got the paint today, a nice pale sky blue colour for the walls and have ordered some clouds from ebay, wall stickers. I hope it looks nice. We got new curtains and lightshade, new carpet fitted and rug for the nursery for DS so re-using those things but just wanted to change the walls. It was a Peter Rabbit nursery but my DS took all the wall stickers down so they were left just at the top where he couldn't reach. This time with clouds, at least they'll be at the top of the walls so DS can't peel them off!

morerummorefun · 07/05/2014 21:54

sounds lovely Mrs we moved dd to a bigger room so dont need to do anything to the nursery.
appologies for the very selfish post earlier and hello to all the newbies! good luck ttc this thread was super lucky for me Grin !

Karmanna13 · 08/05/2014 09:04

Mrsm, yes, it is so nice to finally have a place to call our own. My clothes have been boxed up for nearly 2 years so it was like getting a completely new wardrobe!

Morerum, yes this does look like a lucky thread, fx! When are you due? I like the names you've picked - what does the "J" stand for?

lovesmycake · 08/05/2014 09:08

Love the names morerum.

I know this is a bit off topic but my friend is pregnant :) they have been trying for three years for their first and this was her first round of IVF. Im so happy for her and just wanted to share :). She actually did a test that came back negative and that was so hard for them but it was wrong and she is 8 weeks.

Hello to the new people hope you don't have to wait long for your bfp's.

As for me the in-laws have gone home and calm has been restored!! I have completely lost track of cycle, days etc but after the disappointment last month I think it is good for me to take a step back :)

morerummorefun · 08/05/2014 09:17

karma im due 8th june so 4 weeks on SundayShock

The J stands for James but it will be just thr inital we are using xx
Loves congratulations to ur friend! pregnant by association Grin I hope she has a very healthy pregnancy xx

Kt1991 · 08/05/2014 13:16

I'm here mrs sorry! Not had a chance to post again! I will read back tonight and post a longer msg :)

keeponjuggling · 08/05/2014 16:18

more, I love those names! Especially Parker.

Mrs the nursery sounds lovely, I like the cloud idea too! I'm hoping the gro clock works, will keep you posted on progress (or otherwise). I'm currently on cycle 17 TTC Sad

loves I also have no idea where I am this cycle and have to say its really quite nice. Decided to take a few months off charting etc and try to relax sorry I know thats a really annoying thing people say the world over to TTCers Lovely news about your friend, glad such a long journey has a happy outcome!

Ginger how are you doing?

karmanna 2 years is a long time to be separated from half your clothes, it must be fun to re-united Grin hope you're settling into your new place.

hello to everyone i've missed

mrsm22 · 08/05/2014 20:19

Hi everyone, well DS has spent the day with my mum and dad and we've been all day sorting the nursery. You underestimate how long it takes to paint a room. It's a good sized room. Anyway all the walls are one-coated and we've been and picked up my DS ( it was nice actually as mum did tea for us all) and now I'm putting DS to bed while DH tried to second coat the walls in the nursery while it's still light. The clouds are ordered too!
Morerum - I did wonder what the J stood for too! X
Hi Kt - how are you doing?

Kt1991 · 08/05/2014 20:20

Right I've finally had time to read back now!
Welcome to the Newbies :) Good luck to you all.
mrs yeah the council are pretty usesless around here, we aren't able to bid anymore as they say we are adequatly housed, I've tried MP's, papers everything, but no-ones able to do anything. We are registered with a Home Swappers thing, but there is no-one that would swap to ours! Hoping Housing Association are able to help, as we registered with a particular one near to my Grandparents which is right near my work, DS's nursery, and the trainstation, so DH would be able to get to work so much easier! But it's just waiting for a house to become free! The bedroom decor sound lovely :) we are going with a Disney theme for the DC's room, going to get some wall art from Amazon :), we got some laminate flooring at the weekend, so my DF is coming to fit that for us at the weekend :)

keepon the gro clock sounds like a really good idea! Think I will check that out.

more Those names are lovely! We have a choice of two names at the moment, but won't fully decide till hes here I don't think :)

Ginger hope your doing ok? and swede?

Hope everyone else is doing ok too!

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 08/05/2014 20:48

Hi everyone.
My DB and SIL bought the gro-clock for their eldest, who was waking up at 6am and earlier everyday, she has just turned 4, and they do say it works, but some mornings she sits there counting down the stars and singing it's not yellow yet so they wake up and hear her anyway!! But at least she doesn't come running into their room every morning very early as she knows not to get out of bed until the clock goes yellow!

Kt sorry about the housing issue, hopefully one will become available by the time DS2 is a bit older and you will be needing more space by then!

Rum I LOVE your names!! I'm glad DH finally came around or was given no choice Wink

mrs yes it does take alot longer than you think to get a room painted! We still have some of ours a bit patchy in places as we never quite finished the second coat before we had to move all the furniture back in! Have you made any more progress on getting DS in his own bed? Sounds like you had a nice dinner with your mum, does she ever talk about the situation between you and your sis?

loves hurray for your friend! I found out today a work colleagues mrs is 20 weeks tomorrow Sad but then I thought, well actually, I don't know how long they have been trying etc etc. my guess would be not long though! I think you do right to take a step back, same for you keepon, in fact I think I am going to do the same next month. Stop the opks and temping and just try to dtd regularly. I know it's annoying and a cliche keep to hear people say that but maybe, and hopefully, there is some truth to relaxing about it all!!! Shall we promise one another we will relax about it all and keep each other away from sticks!!?

Karma welcome, and congratulations to buying your new house! Hope you get some positive news in it very soon!

Hello to MrsBee too!

I am on cd28 today. AF possibly due tomorrow if I go off last cycle. Not sure when to expect it really these days as I am taking B6 to lengthen my LP, so it's a good thing that my cycles are getting longer, but makes it hard to know when I'm 'late'. I'm fairly positive AF is on her way, I have had all the usual symptoms and am trying not to feel too sad about it. I just really want a baby, it's getting so hard to stay positive. I will be back at the Drs next week to get my blood test results, and I really hope they do say I am ovulating. Then I can take a bit of a step back until DHs SA at the end of June, and just try to enjoy myself for a few weeks. I have some fun things planned for May and June, including a trip to Amsterdam I think my best friend may have just booked for us as a birthday treat!! What an amazing friend I have!!

OP posts:
mrsm22 · 08/05/2014 21:09

Ginger - Wow, Amsterdam sounds like a lot of fun and very kind of your best friend ! When is your birthday? I hope you get some good news when you go for your blood results!
Hi Kt - fingers crossed eventually you'll get to move or swap bit in the meantime it sounds like you're making your home look very nice. Disney is always lovely for a nursery. Sadly not made much progress with DS sleeping in his own room or bed but the idea is that the nursery has a single bed in (for DS if he ever goes in it) and the baby will go in there too when it's time and they will hopefully share for a bit. I will definitely be putting this next baby in his own room sooner.
Kt - how are you feeling about giving birth again? Can't remember if you had a good first time experience?
Hi Loves - great news about your friend.

mrsm22 · 08/05/2014 21:13

Ginger - my mum didn't refer to the situation with my sister tonight and she rarely does anymore. But with exactly 5 weeks to go tomorrow I'm just trying not to think about it. It saddens me as she was a big help and support to me after my birth with DS which you know wasn't very pleasant. This time however it goes, I know my sister won't be there for me. The longer it goes on though the more angry and sad you feel but there are more important things going on at the moment to think too much about all that.

Kt1991 · 08/05/2014 21:45

mrs maybe once your second DS goes into the nursery, your DS might feel a bit more happier about going in there :) hope you make some progress soon though.
I'm feeling quite confident about giving birth this time, as my mum is a hypnotherapist, and does hypnobirthing sessions, so we are going to go along as off next month, and hope that I will feel more relaxed! I also want to be able to stay in the pool, and have a water birth right to the end this time- DS's birth wasn't too bad, although it dragged on for 3 days, and I was in constant pain throughout, even with all sorts of pain relief! and ended up having an epidural, which wasn't in my birth plan, as things were slowing down, the monkey decided to go back to back as I was pushing the first time! So it was to even try the epidural or emerg CS, which I'm so glad it wasn't, as my DM had an awful experience when I was born, where she was very ill after :( so I'm grateful mine went ok in the end. How are you feeling about it? I think I remember that you had a pretty tough time didn't you with DS?

Kt1991 · 08/05/2014 21:46

Meant to add on my last msg, loves thats great news for your friend :)
and ginger what a nice friend you have treating you to a break away! You will have a lovely time :)

mrsm22 · 08/05/2014 22:26

Hi Kt - I've heard good things about the hypnobirthing, lots of people are going for sessions. I've heard it's quite pricey so you're lucky you've got your DM. It sounds like your birth experience wasn't too bad, apart from the length and obviously the pain. I was doing well while I was at home, got to 5 or 6cm at home on my own and found it quite manageable. I just stayed in the bath the whole time. When I got to the hospital I stupidly asked straight away for an epidural (big regret) but only because my lovely sister had gone on at me for ages about how it's the worst pain in the works ever and that I should demand one immediately. I stupidly did that when I was dealing well with the pain, surprisingly as I thought I'd be a terrible wimp. I think the epidural slowed it all down as I was in labour for I think it was 29hours and I was totally exhausted. I had a hormone drip but not sure why or what that was for exactly but the pushing wasn't doing anything so after a while of pushing I had to have forceps to get DS our. Only at the end though. It was worse after the birth really as I had an episiotomy and tore a bit too and was stitched up but after being home only a week my stitches had come out and it was very sore and horrible. I had to go back to hospital a week later but they decided to let it heal up itself rather than restitch. It wasn't fun. I'm actually quite terrified about doing it again. Remind me when your due date is? It's so hard to keep track. I'm due 5 weeks exactly tomorrow so that's 13th June.
Bought baby a lovely little t-shirt today in Asda when I ran in for some bread, only £2 but really cute I thought to go with some little shorts or trousers.

Kt1991 · 09/05/2014 10:36

Yep I agree mrs that the epidural deffo slows down labour, exactly the same happened wit me for the episiotomy too, not nice, hope you can have more of a relaxed labour this time :) I ended up going up to the post natal part at least 4x after DS as the bleeding and stitches were awful, they were part infected too. Finally managed to get some really good antibiotics from my MW in the end and it was a bit easier to cope with. Do you think your pregnancy has gone quick this time? It seems to of sped by since you set up the thread!
Asda have some good prices for clothes, will have to go over when I can, I am now off work for nearly 3 weeks now yay! and were off to Woolacombe on Sunday evening so will be nice to have a break. Whats everyone got planned this weekend?

mrsm22 · 09/05/2014 10:45

Hi Kt - that's what happened to me with my episiotomy. After the stitches came out, the area got infected and the hospital prescribed me antibiotics which helped a lot. Do you think crazy going for a home birth this time round? I'm just so scared and I hate hospitals and feel really panic-y when I'm there that I know I would feel more comfortable at home. The home birth team from the hospital are coming to see is next Thursday. What's your due date Kt? It's nice that you've got 3 weeks off. When will you finish for your mat leave , do you know yet?
This pregnancy has flown by. I can't believe our thread has been going now 9 months. So glad I've met you all, well not actually met but you know what I mean. I hope you have a lovely holiday. How long are you going for?

Kt1991 · 09/05/2014 11:57

I think it will be good to have a home birth, the MW's are really pushing for more now, If I had a bigger flat I would, but decided would like to go to hosp again this time. Do you have a birth plan written out for hosp just incase? Im due 11th Sept, not liking the Due date! but hopefully baby will come early this time! I finish work around the 11th Aug, working upto 36 weeks, but have another meeting with my manager once I'm back to discuss a date for deffo then :) you enjoying your maternity leave?
Thank you, we are going until Friday, then its my DH's birthday next Saturday so going out for a meal in the evening with some friends.
Yep I know what you mean, its nice to be able to talk to other people other than in RL about everything!

Karmanna13 · 09/05/2014 12:37

mrsm, if you feel panic-y in hospital environment I think it would be wise to have a homebirth. How far away is the hospital if you would need to go in?

I like the idea of a home birth but when I seriously consider it I chicken out as if it gets too much I'd like to know that I am close to whatever pain relief I need. With DS I got into hospital and they examined me and I was 3cm dilated. They were thinking about sending me home but I was in agony and begging for an epidural, but by the time they had got it ready half an hour later I was fully dilated and DS arrived 13 minutes later - didn't even have time for gas and air! So maybe a homebirth would be good if the next one is as quick, and my mum's a midwife so maybe she could just pop over!

Getting a bit ahead of myself now - must get up-duffed first! Grin

MrsBeeBeeBee · 09/05/2014 12:42

Home births sound lovely, but def not for me.

They've just opened a new midwife led unit near me since I had my DD so I love the idea of that and a nice birth pool for next time.

However DD was two weeks late and induced so may just be wishful thinking!

BetterNotBitter · 09/05/2014 15:57

Happy Friday all!!

I am soooo grateful it is almost the weekend and dd is going for a sleepover at my mums tomorrow night, we've had such a busy week with my consultant appt and growth scan plus dhs physio and consultants appts and meetings with his work to name but a few!!! We've never stopped!

How is everyone doing?

Welcome newbies and good luck!!

mrs the nursery sounds nice. We're undecided on colours yet but need to get ourselves in gear! How are you feeling? I can't believe you've only 5 weeks to go!!!!!! Did you say you'd met the home birth team yet? It's not an option I'd consider but I think as with all things baby from birth to feeding preferences to routines etc its all personal preference and definitely not one size fits all so if its right for you its right!

kt How lovely off for 3 weeks!! And amazing that your mum does hypnobirthing, we started it a few weeks ago and I could not endorse it more so far, its brilliant!! I stayed in the pool right through labour and birth and again, would recommend to everyone, so hopefully you'll get that this time too.

ginger I hope you get the results you want at the doctors (actually if I'm hoping for things i just hope you get a bfp tomorrow!) and good news about longer cycles at least. How nice of your friend!!

How is everyone else? I don't have time to read any further back than this page so I hope i havent missed anyone. Hungry and morerum how are things with you? And swede too?

mrsm22 · 09/05/2014 22:17

Good evening everyone and happy Friday!
Hi Kt - I'm not thrilled with my due date of 13th June, just because I always think of 13 as unlucky but for both of us the likelihood of having our babies on their due date is not that likely so I think we might be safe. My DS was 12 days over last time. September is a good month for a birthday, mine is the 22nd September! I am loving being at home with my DS. I can't believe that very soon it'll be me and DS and another baby as well, you get so used to it with just the one baby/toddler.
Hi Karmanna - I live about 15 mins from the nearest hospital. I think there's always a scary element to a home birth in that if anything goes wrong you're not in the right place and I would be terrified if I had to be rushed to hospital, but I hate hospitals. They make me anxious and I know I'd panic so I think as long as all is still well with my pregnancy that it's definitely right for me. Is your mum really a midwife? You lucky thing! You can ask and find out anything you want to know then. Whereabouts are you if you don't mind me asking? If your mum is in Leeds at all, she could come and deliver my baby!
Hi Better - I'm feeling good thanks but tired. I can't believe I've only 5 weeks to go! How are you and how was your scan and your appointment with the consultant? Was everything ok? And how is your DH doing now? You deserve a nice quiet night with your DH tomorrow night so I bet you at looking forward to your DD staying out. I would love it if my DS would sleep at my mum and dads but he will hopefully in the not too far away future. I think he's still a bit young and too clingy to go a whole night without me and his dad, although he does love seeing my mum and dad. The home birth team are coming to see us next thurs .
Hi Mrsbee - what's it like being induced? What actually happens?
What's everyone got planned for the weekend?

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 09/05/2014 22:26

Well do you want the good news or the bad news? (I'm not pregnant!)
Good news is I got my blood test results back and they do confirm I'm ovulating.
Bad news is AF started this morning.
Onto cycle 12, I did work out it has only actually been 10 months since we started so I guess that is better than 12......
I don't really feel any better for learning that I am ov'ing. In a way it would have been better if the results were bad, then that would have been what was causing the problem, gone on clomid etc.....
Just waiting for DHs SA at the end of June now, but think I will take a break for a few months til then, got a girly weekend coming up, and then of course my amazing Amsterdam holiday! My birthday is in June mrs
For some of you your journey will be over and you will have your babies in your arms before mine has even begun! It does feel like it has gone quickly, can't believe we are nearly half way through this year.

better you do sound busy! hope you have managed to get some rest in as well amongst all that!

I think your nursery sounds lovely mrs and hopefully as you say DS will want to go in there soon too! Maybe once the baby arrives he will like being the big brother and will be happier having his own room and big boy bed.

Hope you have a lovely trip kt, and yey for 3 weeks off! Not too long to go now for you either. Do you think you will be going back to work after DC2? How lucky for you that your mum is a hypnotherapist! I had a water birth with DD, and just used gas and air, the water and focusing on my breathing to get through it.

hungry how are you getting on with moving?
Swede hope you are ok, thinking of you. How are plans for your move to Sweden coming on?
Engels hope you are having a very uneventful pregnancy!
Has anyone heard from Windy or ATruth?

Right I am off to bed ladies as I am up early for work in the morning. Eurgh.
