Nope men are just stupid lol it would be lovely to not worry about everything but if we didnt you right nothing would get done.

I only take one AC tablet a day which is what it says on the ones I got.

I hate grapefruit to but its gotta be worth it lol I hope

I just bought cheapy ones from amazon I probably should have bought better ones but it was an impulse buy haha

Weve dtd cd7, 11,13,15 and i have two more days of fertile week according to phone app so i'll persuade him a couple more times lol although we do tend to dtd a few times a week anyway which is good.

Nonconformist34 · 04/04/2014 16:04

Hi all, hope I can join you all? AF just kicked in, ttc#1, cycle 11. I've been on the buses but feel like I've been on there too long now so I thought this thread suited me better.

I'm off at Easter and will be going to GP as she very kindly said she would send me and DH for more tests. If anything came back untowards we will be sent to a fertility clinic. If not, I've been told that we will have to be trying for 2 years (as I'm under 35) before we can be referred. Frustratingly, I'll be 35 if I wait the 2 years!!

ImaginaryHat · 04/04/2014 18:02

Welcome nonconformist. Course you can join, I think a lot of us feel the same about the buses now were this length of time into trying. They are fab and fun but for those of us who don't get our bfps in the first few months they can be a bit of a downer after a while! The whole doctor situation seems like its really frustrating for a lot of people too. Tests are a good step forward though and if they do come back clear for both of you there's a really good chance you will conceive before you hit 2 years, and if they show up any issues then you should get referred so again its a step forward.

gingerbread not to worry you but vitamin b6 did bugger my cycles up. I was taking them to try and increase my luteal phase, and it worked great the 1st month. However, the second month it delayed my ovulation by ages, in fact I didn't ovulate til I eventually stopped taking them around CD 22. I was taking 100mg. I had a break from it then had a go with 50mg a few cycles later but I had problems again. I think mama had something similar. Having said all that, there are people who its worked great for, so I'd definitely give it a go for a couple of months and see how you react to it, you might be one of the lucky ones that it results in a bfp! Its put me off experimenting with other things, but if I don't get a bfp this month I think I'm gonna give the vitex that mamas taking a go (as well as seeing my gp)

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 04/04/2014 18:28

Welcome nonconformist! I will be going into cycle 11 very soon if AF makes her appearance this weekend. I think it's a good idea to get to the Drs to get the ball rolling, hopefully you will be one of the ones that has to cancel due to a BFP!

Blueberry I think cheapie ones are fine to get you started with, I just bought some CB ones a few months back as I was struggling to hold my wee in for 4 hours before testing! The CB ones you can FMU with, so I just wait until I'm fairly sure I will get a +ve before I use them, so I only use 3 or 4 sticks a month.

Thanks Imaginary always good to hear someones experiences even if they aren't great! I am also taking them to lengthen my LP, it was 7 days last month Confused I ov'd on time this month so it hasn't affected my ovulation this cycle, we shall see when AF turns up what it does to my LP! I am considering ditching the VitB and switching to AC, in fact I got an email from a fertility website the other day saying Vitex is a girls best friend as it seems to help quite a bit with hormones etc!

Has anyone ever asked their GPs opinion on self-supplementing and whether any of it works?!

m33r · 05/04/2014 09:31

may glad you're being referred. It helped me a lot to get things moving.

ginger I asked at my fertility appt about supplements but not for anything specific - lengthening lp or anything - and the VERY helpful, VERY nice doc said just folic acid but it can help people to feel better about doing something. Important to note I think that this was in the context of quite regular cycles 29-35 days and an lp of 14-16 days so maybe not helpful.

Hi conform. Yep the buses get tough when you're the only one still there after so long. It's where me, mama, one, imaginary and sazzle met so we're a bit of a rogue bus now! I should say sazzle ran off to antenatal 6-9aeeks ago! Hurrah!!

victoria401 · 05/04/2014 13:55

Well, I made quite an impression on the bus the other night. Should have kept my big gob shut. I was just in a complete depressed mess and said some stuff I shouldn't and caused a rollercoaster of emotions in others. Lead to me feeling like a bad person and even more depressed. Think its best I leave the buses for good. I really did mean no harm though for those who saw. I'm crap with words.

I hope I'm still welcome in here!

Welcome nonconformist its good your GP is starting tests early. I left it til month 15 and now its month 17 and not finished with tests yet. It takes some time! I see you're in a 2year post code too. I too will be pushing 35 at referral and over 35 by the time an appointment comes if its 7months wait like m33r.

34 in a week's time. Just want to forget about it but my mates are saying we must go out etc. I wouldn't mind getting older if I had kids and didn't have to worry about my clock ticking. Why oh why didn't we start earlier?! Silly me presumed it would just happen month one like my mum did with me and my sister had with her 2 dd's. Doesnt run in families I guess.

Happy weekend all x

xBlueberry88x · 05/04/2014 16:45

Good afternoon ladies,

No pain today which is nice!!!

2ww now have dtd a fair bit the last week and will keep going as often as possible.

Welcome nonconformist hope you enjoy this page the buses are a bit hard lotsa bfps recently.

Victoria I really dont blame you for what you said every one has bad days

m33r · 05/04/2014 18:23

Hey victoria. Just went looking for your post - sorry I was intrigued - you are completely fine. Don't give it another thought. I hope you have put it out of your mind and are feeling good again. If not, please try so hard. If there's any more reassurance I can offer I will! You are great and I hope you get your BFP VERY soon.

Have some wine and a HUGE hug xx

victoria401 · 05/04/2014 20:21

Thanks m33r I can't bear to re-read it. It feels like its going to haunt me for a long time yet. I really do hate upsetting others. I don't/can't just forget. I live in the past a lot and worry about people's views on me. I've been a lot better the last few years (DH helped) as I've had CBT in many forms. I wanted to be in the very best mental health for my little one. Occasionally it bites me on the bum again but need to be strong!

Massive hugs to all ladies on here for supporting me x x.

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 05/04/2014 21:26

Ah Victoria I can relate with so many things you say!! I worry about peoples views of me, hate upsetting people, I scrutinize over many things I say in case they offend someone, and am also crap with words and voicing myself; it has led to some people thinking I am mean, a 'hard' woman and telling me to stop having a go at them, even DH, when I'm really not!! I have also just been and read what you wrote, and don't think there is anything wrong with it, some peoples replies are a bit Hmm!
I think it's good for people who are only on 3/4 months to put things in perspective and realise it can 'normally' take a long time, and you were just being a voice of reason to some that had got carried away a bit, and letting them know that others are in a different boat to them and it's always worth considering someone elses journey when you are worrying about your own(Does that make sense or does it sound harsh - crap with words!!) This whole ttc has certainly made me open my eyes a bit and look at the bigger picture, not just with babies, but with everything, to try and take a step back from my little bubble world and notice everything else going on around me, including other people and their little bubbles! It still doesn't stop it from being shit shit shit though! Please do keep venting to us on here, it really is so great to have other ladies in a similar place to offer kind words and advice.

I am 6dpo today. I am hoping AF won't make an appearance for another week or so yet, which would be amazing and mean the B6 has made a difference, but it feels like this waiting is taking forever.....

ImaginaryHat · 05/04/2014 22:39

Hi Victoria, another one who went to have a look at the bus here, I really wouldn't worry about it. What you said is the very reason I stepped back from the buses (that plus so many early cycle bfps!) I think they're a fantastic place to be in the early stages of ttc but after a while it can get to you, so I stepped away until onelife told me about this thread.

blueberry glad you're having no pain today, hopefully it was ovulation related and its now happened for you!

ginger hope af stays away for a good while yet! I will ask my gp for her opinion about vitex to lengthen lp when I have my appt a week on tues.

Have had a lovely day today. Its mine and dh's wedding anniversary so we've had a day out and are having a night away. Were in a lovely b&b, greeted by the owner with tea and cake which is a big plus in my book!

victoria401 · 05/04/2014 23:24

Aw thanks for being supportive over the dreaded post from hell :-)

imaginary sounds like a lovely weekend. Romantic. How long is anniversary? And what are you doing on here, get back to DH!

ginger your speech sounded great hun :-)

I've joined a fb group for difficulty ttc and that really puts things into perspective. I feel pathetic saying we've only been trying 17months. Some girls on there have been ttc many many years with multiple health issues and heartbreak. So yes everyone has a very different journey and everyone, including me, needs to really think about what they say. I have definately learnt not to ask people when are you having babies etc. As they might be in the same position we are in. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors, and yes, not just ttc.I don't want to ask why haven't you booked a summer hol in case they have money worries, etc. Ha! I'm paranoid about any 'normal' conversation subject!

ImaginaryHat · 05/04/2014 23:46

2 year anniversary (although we've been together 13 yrs!), its been lovely thanks but he's watching match of the day now so using my time for a mumsnet catch up!

I definitely get what you mean about saying anything to friends having a baby soon. I used to do it all the time, quite innocently. If someone's sibling had a baby I might have said something like 'it'll be you next' but I'd never say that now in case theyd been trying, and I totally cringe thinking that I did! Its a minefield out there when you think about it isn't it?!

m33r · 06/04/2014 01:21

victoria you're fantastic and have done / said nothing wrong. Those who get pg very fast will forget you very fast and those who are unfortunate enough to be jumping in buses in 3-4-5-6-++++ months will very quickly understand. Don't worry. Have wine. Have hugs. Hopefully Sod's law will get your BFP this month. That's what I'm hoping for you! Xxx

Lindsay81 · 06/04/2014 10:20

Oh victoria please don't give it a second thought (I know it's hard!). My DH can obsess about thing he's said/ done, run through things over and over again and analyse every possible alternative outcome so I know what you mean. But this is really nothing, sweetheart xoxo Concentrate on what you're doing now, today, in the next half hour..and this will soon seem like nothing. hugs

Happy anniversary imaginary! Hope you're having a lovely weekend

Hi nonconformist! Nice to meet you, hope to get to know you better through thus thread :-)

ginger I think I've banged on about AC and B bits enough for you to know I'm a fan! I couldn't stay away from the OPKs this weekend as I started to get loads of EWCM. Anyway, last month my luteal phase increased from 7/8 days to 11, with a OPK+ on cd19 and O on day 20 (I think). Today (month 2 on AC and 100mg B complex) I have just got my OPK+ on cd17!!! If everything else stays the same, I could be up to a 13 day luteal phase in 2 months of supplementing. I have also read the negative stories though so as with everything, it seems to be very individual. As imaginary said, worth giving it a go, I say!

A question to all- when you actually get your OPK+ what do you do? Every day? For how long? Continue as normal?

L xoxo

Lindsay81 · 06/04/2014 10:24

Ooh, something else I forgot on supplements: I also wonder what I should do if (WHEN! lol) I get pregnant. Would you stop AC and B vits immediately. Advice is conflicting on AC especially, with some taking it throughout first trimester to help with progesterone levels (which I'm pretty sure was my issue re short literal phase). I think Bvits are also prescribed for morning sickness. So surely the supplements can't be harmful??

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 06/04/2014 14:15

Lindsay that is amazing results! A 13 day LP, wow, I can only dream about the day!! Ah little things hey! Baby steps! I have read it can 2/3 months to take effect so you are obviously one of the lucky ones it works for! Lets hope you get your BFP this month or next month now, how fantastic! I am on cd24 today, so I am a day further on than I managed last cycle! I am only taking 50mg B6 but I plan on doing a big Amazon order when AF appears - BBT thermometer, Maca and AC, and either cough medicine or grapefruit juice. Not leaving anything to chance from now on!! Not sure about what you would do when you do get your BFP, maybe cut down B6 to 50mg, and I don't know much about AC in early pregnancy. I think you can stop everything when you get to 12 weeks, including folic acid, but maybe take pregnacare or similar just to keep you feeling a bit better.
Happy anniversary Imaginary!
I know someone whose little boy took 4 years, and my mum was trying for 5 years with me, so I guess it does happen for all of us, in time. Patience is not one of my virtues though!

sazzlehopes · 06/04/2014 14:50

Hi girls, just wanted to throw in some advice. I see some of you talking about ac and maca etc, and I wanted to say that my OH took Maca (in tablet form) for about 4 months or so before we got a bfp after 14 months ttc. It's supposed to help really improve the swimmers Grin
So while lots of you are doing the best you can, I think if you are on these boards then there is no harm in asking your OH's to pop the odd pill here and there!

victoria401 · 06/04/2014 20:37

Bought a shed load of opks off eBay, months and months worth! So by the law of Sod I will conceive this month yes?!

ImaginaryHat · 06/04/2014 22:34

Me too Victoria, thought I might as well save some money and buy in bulk!

Well I'm only 3 dpo and already feeling like I'm out. Got my typical achy cervix and cramps just like the past couple of months so won't be surprised if I start spotting again in a few days. Bleugh. At least I'm seeing gp soon so that's something I guess.

Saz I've never even heard of maca, off to Google now! Hope you're feeling OK. Have you had much morning sickness?

Nonconformist34 · 07/04/2014 09:58

Thanks for all of your lovely welcomes, definitely prefer it here to being on the buses, you're all so much friendlier!!

Good tip on the Maca, will get DH on it today.

I'm on CD4 so just seeing AF off. I've been having acupuncture for the past few months now. Feel really relaxed and chilled about the ttc now, acupuncture has really balanced my mind and body. I've even convinced DH to go next week with me as she says she can help boost his fertility and de-stress him from work. I keep teasing him saying that she'll be sticking needles into his penis and balls!!!! (Obviously not, but couldn't resist).

victoria401 · 07/04/2014 10:56

Haha! Trying to persuade DH to have reflexology too but he thinks its mumbo jumbo. I find it relaxing and she works on my reproductive bits. Got my pre ov session weds this week :-)

xBlueberry88x · 07/04/2014 11:40

My DH thinks everythings mumbo jumbo lol wont try anything.

Managed to persuade him to take multivitamins but that took ages.

If im not pg this month I think I will try reflexology or acupuncture see if it helps.

Have a dodgy stomach last few days and twinges in my belly probably to early to symptom spot lol

lil1ady · 07/04/2014 13:42

Hi everyone. I'd like to do acupuncture but I'm having trouble finding a medical acupuncturist in my area rather than a voodoo one. I worry about going to the wrong person and ending up with hiv or something! extreme I know but I think its because the stuff about it when u give blood us so scary! I had acupuncture on NHS when I had whiplash and thought it was amazing, but have never tried reflexology. think I'll look into it tho.

got my ovary scan tomorrow Grin is it weird that I'm excited about that?!

hope u have better weather than I do, its wet and dull here.

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 07/04/2014 14:45

Afternoon all,
I would also like to try acupuncture / reflexology, my DH also thinks it's a load of mumbo jumbo! Not sure he would be happy with me spending the money on it, I normally would think it's a load of mumbo jumbo too, but have heard of amazing results from it. lil I am also wary of booking in with a 'pretend' one, I hadn't even thought about the risks of blood diseases though!! It's also really hard round here to find any fertility acupuncturists, or any fertility specialists at all really!!

Blueberry me too!! I have had an upset tummy today, and twinges in my belly/womb area!! Really tender boobs too, but I always get that before AF. Trying soo hard to not read into anything, I am on cd25 which could be early/late for me, and determined not to POAS until Friday.

Thanks for the Maca advice sazzles! Didn't realise it was good for DHs to take too, did you take it yourself or just DH?

Right off to do my punishment symptom spotting sit ups.....
