The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

morning all. Welcome to the new arrivals, sorry that your circumstances mean that you've ended up here, but glad that you've found this place, wonderful support here.

triple I hope you're getting some rest and trying not to obsess. I have my fingers crossed for you.
So after attempting to cancel my US appointment last week, and being told to come in anyway, went for my date with the dildo-cam this morning. Too soon at 5+0 to see anything other than a sac, but I am pregnant, it is in my uterus, and for now that will have to be enough. My ovaries looked normal, so that is good news as well. I suspect my GP will tell me off when I next visit for wasting NHS resources, but... in all honesty I'm glad I went. She was right, it doesn't provide the reassurance that a post-8-week scan would as there is no heartbeat to see, but knowing that it isn't ectopic reduces some of the nonsense I put myself through.
Hoping for more BFPs here very soon.

winohhh · 04/03/2014 10:48

Thanks everyone. I have a very very faint line on a hpt yesterday. I think it will be all gone in a day or two, which is a massive relief. Usually use opks, but haven't yet as I figured it would get confused with all the hormones still around. May start again after a bfn. I'm temping though. No temp dip or rise yet so we'll see! It's so infuriating!!!!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 04/03/2014 10:54

Glad the u/s out your mind at ease about being ectopic Sarnie. Fingers crossed another scan in a few weeks will show you the heartbeat. Try to stay calm... Easier said than done in sure WinkSmile Good luck!

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 10:56

Winoh I've had a faint line on my hpt for two weeks now and there is still a squinter there now on an ultra early after my first period is over! So don't be surprised if it takes a little while to clear.

I think you are doing everything right. Track your morning temps and monitor your cm. If your hpts are really faibt you may find you can use opks fine. Might be worth buying some and seeing if you get a positive or not xxx

winohhh · 04/03/2014 11:29

Silly question, can I check myself if my cervix is closed? Will I feel it? Or do I need to get a doctor to check? Argh!!!

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 11:43

Winoh you can check yourself but unless you're used to doing it, it may not help.

For example when you are about to get your period your cervix moves down and feels firm and during ovulation your cervix is high and soft. When I was miscarrying my cervix was low and dilated so it was obvious the miscarriage was in full flow.

If you google checking your cervix there is lots of info on the best way to do it. If you have had a baby your cervix will always feel slightly open, if you haven't you might not feel the opening.

I tend to check very occasionally as it really doesn't give you much information as a layperson.

noitsachicken · 04/03/2014 13:50

Gosh checking your own cervix! What have we become!

winnohh after my m/c I bled for about a week, and ov'd two weeks after.
So we waited until then to ttc.
This month I don't know what is going on!
Will be using opks once bleeding stops though.

DH kindly took the morning off so I could rest, feeling v weak and dizzy. Low iron I guess, I am not used to bleeding so much. DS is sleeping now and I might join him!

Sundance2007 · 04/03/2014 15:03

misery, congrats, that sounds like the perfect wedding to me. I had 29 at mine and it felt like a huge crowd. Didn't stop me from buying a cake that was meant for 300 people though.

So, ladies, this is soooo random but... My neighbour just popped over (I'm working from home this week), with TWO pg tests she has taken. Both show a faint, and I mean really faint second positive line. However, she said that the second lines didn't show up at first, the background stayed pink for a while (they are the ic ones).

I don't think I've ever seen an evap line so can't call it, and she only noticed the lines when she went back after an hour. Do ic's always show an evap line much later? She's not due af for a few more days but she's a keen ttc'er. What do we reckon?

I don't have any tests to give her as I used all mine up last month!! Not sure how I feel about being the resident fertility advisor in our street.

OttersPocket · 04/03/2014 15:09

Ooooh, a mystery Sundance! I think an hour after taking is way too long to call a bfp in my humble experience of peeing on possibly thousands of ics. Once they dry out they are prone to evaps. Are the lines shadowy or pinkish? I got some wicked bad evaps on ics this month Angry

Get her to a chemist for a FRER!

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 15:30

I round say she is possibly pregnant as that exactly what happens to me - looks negative until the pink dye fully clears. BUT I have skid had done horrid evaps on those things.

So the only thing she can do is either piss on a FRER or keep testing with the ICs and if they get darker she is duffed Grin

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 15:34

Have had some - was trying to figure put where skid came from lol

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 15:35

Argh my phone hates me

Seasides · 04/03/2014 15:44

Yep, I'd be high-tailing it off to Boots personally. An hour sounds like too long for a convincing BFP, but two tests make it a possibility.

OttersPocket · 04/03/2014 15:50

Oh God, me too - I'd be in the car and off to the Chemist immediately!!

Metalhead · 04/03/2014 15:53

I've never had an evap line, so I'd say it's a distinct possibility she's upduffed!

Sundance2007 · 04/03/2014 16:48

These are defo pinkish - do they go a different colour if evaps?

Sent her off to supermarket for a clear blue! Will keep you posted.

And thanks sebs...skid marks are a real bummer! :)

Just what I need, another upduffer to congratulate not jealous at all

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 17:14

I've had false positives on them that are pink, they just never go any darker. Of course now I want the bastard things to be negative there is a never ending succession of squinters.

miserywaterfall · 04/03/2014 18:22

Lol, love this thread, so glad I joined, skid marks indeed!

I've had a few evap lines on cheapy tests, some have looked like BFPs and others have been ragged looking lines rather than full lines. Some appeared after less than an hour (depending on how cold the bathroom was!) and some appeared after 2hrs, etc.

Viperama · 04/03/2014 18:32

Hi winoahh I had a natural mc two weeks ago today as well. Sorry we share such a shite anniversary!! My bleed last 6 days. I tested bfp Friday 21st and negative Friday 28th. I had two dark brown blobs in my egg white discharge this Saturday and Sunday. Late last night my ovulation test stick gave me a smiley face! My body has recovered quickly it would seem, as I mc very early (5 weeks) I think I recovered quickly. So we are trying again.
Ladies, how long should I wait to do a PT? 1 week late for AF?

broodylicious · 04/03/2014 18:51

Just been thinking back to the days before I mc.... I remember I had a few times when I really burned up, so much so, I took a layer of clothing off each time. This only happened on Tuesday and Wednesday and I mc in the early hours of Thursday. What say you on the thought this was a sign that my body was preparing for something? Prob not but just idly thinking.

LaceyLee · 04/03/2014 19:27

Hi all sorry not really been on mn much last couple of days but congrats to misery and commiserations to others who have recently mc'd Hmm broody I don't know, could be although I read that body temp (bbt) can fall just before an mc so maybe not?

I am obsessing quite a bit about ttc again (really wasn't interested at all pre-mc!). Am now 7 dpo and have no symptoms, unsurprisingly!

Viperama · 04/03/2014 19:30

I don't remember burning up. I did start cramping a week before, I stopped all exercise as it happened whenever I'd move significantly. We think the baby died at about 3 weeks and my body just took its time.

sebsmummy1 · 04/03/2014 19:34

Broody I don't remember burning up although I think I was hotter in my sleep, think that's normal in pregnancy though!!

broodylicious · 04/03/2014 19:59

Yeah I remember being hot in bed (not in the good ttc way but in the sweaty Betty way) during my pregnancy with dd. It doesn't matter anyway now, I know, it was just a theory as I'd never had hot flushes before and was obviously thinking back to ponder anything different as I didn't have cramps or pain until literally a few moments before the hellish gush of my insides fell into my beautiful pyjamas...

Feeling ok today, despite having it out with dh about insensitive comments he made the other day; I'd had enough of giving him the silent treatment. We are talking again now but only a little. I don't want to fall out with anyone at this bleugh time and least of all dh.

Carly6971 · 04/03/2014 21:04

Hey ladies :) wondered if I could also join? I had been ttc for 6 years when we got a surprise bfp in jan only to loose it 5th February :( anyways still no a for positive opk but lots of tith n crossing fingers...never wanted my period so much in my life!

waves to sebs and broody! I was also on the very insensitive sept antenatal thread???hope you ladies are holding up ok and doing as well as can be in these miserable circumstances :) xx
