Hello everyone, I wondered if I may join you? The lovely Parsley invited me over from the ttc after mc thread.

I'm 32 and, as of tomorrow, been ttc for 2 long and shitty years. I got a bfp last year after 5 rounds of Clomid but that ended in a missed mc in November. Since then, I've been back on the Clomid but no bfps have been forthcoming. AF is due tomorrow so I'm gearing up for another cycle.

Usual story, I'm surrounded by bastards instadiffers. Next FC app is in May and there's talk of gonadotropin injections so it'd be friggin' lovely to have some good news by then but I don't hold out much hope.

Anyhoo, nice you 'meet' you all and I hope you'll have me Smile

happylass · 28/02/2014 10:21

Welcome Otters (or do you prefer Pocket? Or OP?). Sorry that you find yourself here but you're in the right place - lots of lovely ladies who sadly have been thorough the same as you. Might be a bit quiet for a few hours whilst everyone's in work (I'm on half term Grin) but I'm sure it'll liven up later. Especially if Boodle is in a stripping mood!

Parsley2506 · 28/02/2014 10:32

yay otters! Glad you decided to come over, I think you'll really like it here Smile.

barking thanks for the info, I guess as my BFP was au naturelle that's going to be a 're-set' for me. I really should just go and see my GP and find out. I'm scared tho! Definitely feeling a bit Ostrich like about the whole thing at the moment. My GP is nice, but he's a late middle aged bloke and of the 'jollying along' school of bedside manner, which is great most of the time but I sort of want him to indulge my paranoid delusions for once and let me have ALL THE TESTS.

bushy sounds like you've not only got a plan now but you're already a way down the road to the copter!

Grin at all the SA sample stories! MrP did his at home, was a bit weird as I kissed him goodbye and left for work leaving him there to crack one out and Lewis Hamilton it over to the hospital!

winohhh · 28/02/2014 11:02

Welcome otters!! Sorry you find yourself here though. I have been doing a bit of lurking over on the ttc after miscarriage thread since my mmc last week, so recognise your name (that sounds a bit creepy!?? I'm not a stalker, honest!)

OttersPocket · 28/02/2014 11:09

Thanks for the welcome folks Grin

Otters is fine for me happy

Quite excited to have a stalker winohhh, Parsley and I have been freaking each other out with a bit of stalkery action recently Wink

I was vair proud when I got MrOtters sample to the hospital and was told by the lad technician that it was the warmest pot of spunk she's received that day. The pot had been nestled in my bra and I'd had the heating in the car on full blast! Also, wtaf is it with us lot having to take our DP's samples to the hospital for them?!

OttersPocket · 28/02/2014 11:10

Doh, lab technician not lad. She was a she not a he Smile

beakybeak · 28/02/2014 11:47

Welcome Otters! Sorry for your difficult time and mc. Laughed out loud at "warmest pot of spunk".

Happy, that's hilarious about dropping it at the wrong hospital! Did he manage to get it to the right on on time? I'm imagining a scene from "challenge Annika"!

beakybeak · 28/02/2014 11:56

Bushy/Win, re telling your employer, do they not have an IVF/fertility policy? (I know a lot of places don't, especially smaller employers) I believe schools should have this and if not, there should be something covering "elective treatment" or similar in their absence policy/staff handbook which would tell you their procedures and what you can take off etc in these circs. If they know about it and you suffer a detriment/they treat you badly for this, it's potentially discrimination.

Anyway, back to more lighthearted matters [grins]

happylass · 28/02/2014 12:03

Nope Beaky he didn't even know until his GP rang him to tell him what he'd done. No idea what happened there, he must have just thrown the sample at them and legged it!

Argh Berries I need a rant. Last went to the FC on 19th Dec where we were told we'd been seen again in 2-3 months. Since then we've heard nothing except the letters about the normal-low AMH and the clumpy sperm. DP just rang to find out what's going on and were told they were running behind as the consultant is away for 3 weeks in March so they won't be able to see us until 24th April. So 4 and a bit months wait rather than 2-3 arrrrrgh Angry Angry Angry. Just feel like soooo much time is being wasted and we need to get on that IVF list as soon as possible seen as its such a bloody long wait anyway. DP is far more blunt than me and had a right rant on the phone. Think he ended up kicking off to some kind of hospital manager! Tbh I've totally lost faith in our chances on the NHS. Just booked an open evening at a private clinic to see what our options are there.

beakybeak · 28/02/2014 12:31

Ah happy that is rubbish, when your dp complained did that not help? I hate the waiting involved with everything, and then they tell you you shouldn't wait and time is so important.

Is the private one going to be very expensive? If you dont mind me asking. I have no idea of the costs at the moment.

happylass · 28/02/2014 13:03

Well it must have helped a bit as they've just rung back to say they've 'found' us an appointment on April 3rd instead. Still not great but better than before!
I'm sure we'll find out more in the open evening but from what I can see on the website the cost is £3200 for IVF or £3900 for ICSI. The drugs are an additional £800-£1300 depending on what is needed. Could really do without having to spend that sort of money but can't really take a gamble on waiting over 18 months for the NHS Sad

winohhh · 28/02/2014 13:12

Thanks beaky, I did call hr, who said they don't have a policy and it's best to sort it out with my line manager. Helpful!

Glad you got a slightly better appointment happy. I sympathise with the waiting. I've kind of resigned myself to paying privately when/ if the time comes, and have an ivf saving fund. Bit depressing really!!

Bunnygirlie · 28/02/2014 15:18

Lol at poor Mr tiger

Welcome otter great name! Warmest pot of spunk [snigger]

happy grrrrrrrrrr on your behalf! Can't believe you have had to wait so long, hugs x

barkingtreefrog · 28/02/2014 16:07

win, yes, got a temp rise this morning Grin . I think ff will wait until tomorrow to put the cross hairs in. FX I don't have 5 days of spotting this cycle.

Welcome otter, but sorry you have reason to be here. I also had a mc following a clomid bfp. It sucks. Instadiffers who don't appreciate what they've got suck too.

parsley I know what you mean about the ostrich thing. Did you have all the tests and dildocam before your bfp?

Happy the waiting is the worst part. Could you do egg sharing to get the costs down? Round here that would reduce it to £2300 (from initial googling).

On route to my hen do! Very excited Grin . I'll check back in on Sunday!

Parsley2506 · 28/02/2014 16:36

happy glad your DH was there to have a rant. Despite being a bit of a loud mouth/strong willed person at work, I completely crumble in the face of all this stuff. I think it's the lack of control, or the fear of what might happen, I don't know, but I've generally been a bit incapable of putting my foot down about anything with GP etc. since we first went in for help, I start feeling tearful so just shut up! I know I'm going to have to snap out of that if we have to start pursuing assisted conception again.

barking, yep, all bloods and dildocams done last summer and it all seems fine. No AMH or egg quality tests tho, seems crackers to me they only offer them when it's time for IVF. MrP has had 1 x SA which came back great, so probably no need to re-test there?
NK testing is of interest to me, but only based on my own self scare-mongering!
I hope your proper hen is amazing!! Enjoy it Smile

bushy and win you might find this link useful r.e. time off for IVF

bunny how are you doing? let us live vicariously through you please!

happylass · 28/02/2014 17:27

Barking I haven't looked in to egg sharing but I'm guessing at 36 I'm too old?
Parsley I'm exactly the same. I can rant with the best of them at poor customer service etc but the whole TTC business is so emotional I know I'd be a gibbering wreck! I was even crying when DP was on the phone to the FC this morning Blush
Bunny hope your doing ok and the sickness isn't too bad. Have a good hen Barking and a great weekend everyone else.

happylass · 28/02/2014 17:39

You're not your!! Gah hate that!

CatsCantFlyFast · 28/02/2014 18:30

Barking have a great weekend. Pre warning... remember if you are drinking your temps may go haywire but don't let that worry you, that chart looks good to me Grin

HampshireBlues · 28/02/2014 18:36

Otters welcome.

Bushy had my first dildocam this month and it wasn't too bad just a little cold and uncomfortable, nowhere near as bad as a smear!

Happy don't know if it helps but we're going private NHS b*stards won't pay I've just totted up and taking into account bloods / SA / scans and freezing for a year are looking at about 6k

On a good note (after a shitty week) I think I may have convinced DH to have our first cycle from March Smile

Parsley2506 · 28/02/2014 19:26

HB yowser, is that for one go?

BoodleDoo · 28/02/2014 19:39

Happy, it seems quite busy in here today. I won't start removing my clothes just yet unless you put on my special stripper song

BoodleDoo · 28/02/2014 19:40

Hi Otters!

HampshireBlues · 28/02/2014 20:13

Yeah Parsley unfortunately it is. Subsequent cycles will probably be about 5k. Sucks huh? Still can't believe that I'm "too old" for NHS funding. Never mind eh!

Happy I don't believe that there is an age limit on egg sharing (although I may be wrong) but lots if health questions. I briefly looked at it, but they literally collect and then divide them up randomly.

Can't remember who made the comment about warm spunk samples, but I salute your committment to getting a fresh sample to the lab (one thing DH won't comment on)

greatbigbushybeard · 28/02/2014 21:04

Wow it's been busy on here!

Thanks for the Ivf legal link, v interesting. I work at an academy school but we said we would still adhere to the burgundy book agreement ( all teacher berries will know what I mean), so think it may be worth me checking it out.

Lol at all the sa stories. My dh said that the materials looked like they came from pre decimalisation times!! All Farrah fawcett hair and big bushes!!

Barking- they didn't suggest clomid to me but not sure if that was because I do ovulate it's just that the egg and sperm won't meet! Have a great hen do, what's on the menu this w/e?

The clinic we will have our treatment at does private too, so there was a price list and yes it looked like about 5k, not cheap, so we are very grateful.

What is a dildocam? Just wondering if my scan counts as one. I did notice last night when I was wiping after a wee a little pink blood. Today it's just a little bit of brown on a panty liner. Af is due this weekend so may just be that and also that perhaps she disturbed things when she was looking. Gotta keep a look out as if it is af I have to phone the clinic.

Welcome to otters- I love your name!!

happylass · 28/02/2014 21:18

HB apparently the limit for sharing is 34. Yorkie (who doesn't post in here much anymore - maybe we need to send out the Berry bat signal?!?) has recently egg shared and is currently in the 2ww. I think Barking also looked in to it. Aside from the age thing my AMH levels aren't great so guessing I wouldn't produce enough eggs to share anyway Sad
Boodle unfortunately (or should that be fortunately Wink) I can't remember your stripping tune so you'll have to remain fully clothed for the time being!
