To keep this thread going, proving support to all of those of a 'riper vintage' wishing for a baby...

I have received so much help, advice and support here, so although I technically have graduated, I thought I'd get the next thread going to keep the momentum.

One more week to wait... rather discouraged to read that at my age, the odds of conception are only 5% per cycle.
I know I do not have the stamina to go through this month after month for the next couple of YEARS.
I am not going to try more than another two or three cycles. I already have three children, and will just be satisfied with that, if I don't conceive soon.
I never realized the odds were so bleak. :(
I feel a little silly for imagining it might happen this month, my very first month of trying.
It's just that I have always conceived easily in the past, even at 39.
Apparently there's a big difference between 39 and 41, though, even if I don't feel much different. The odds of conception apparently drop from 10% per cycle to 5% per cycle, in just those two years... So discouraging. :(

JBrd, well done! and an explanation to spotting, thatcis a relief as well. take it as easy as possible to not escalate the hematoma thing and it should soon reabsorb!

Basia, as you can see, here are many women who manage to concieve two or more tims a year, despite being well over 49. These falling fertility statistics are apparantely rather old, some say they are based on french church register from 19th century. also, chances to conceive if actively trying and tracking cycle must go up, since you cann ot fail to dtd at the right time.

grizzer, re spotting after accu, I had similar experience several times that it made me spot at wrong times. Since reading up on subject I realise tou can not mechanically stick needles in points related to fertility, you need to take anamnesis first (this dampness, heat/ cold uterus etc thing). I read up Randine lewis on using traditional chinese medcine and came to conclusion doing just accu may be making you worse, if your specialist does not even attempt first to understand what is your chinese-medcine diagnosis. I now instead do accupressure on points which fit my issues, and its free,as i can do it myself.
I am 9DPO, no spotting, this indicates b6 and vitex do wonders with my Luteal phase. afraid no pg this month as tested today and neg. I know it is too early but often when bfp is coming at 9dpo i get a late shadow of a line, like couple of hours after testing. Today, nothing. Glaring bfn. Well, goof preparation for "official test day" tomorrow.

Just to say hello Green, i hope Prof Regan can offer you some help. It was Tina who had twin girls with DE. Isabeller must be due or have had her baby by now too. i haven't heard from her I'm afraid. We decided we wouldn't use to donor eggs as we already have dd but I think it is a really interesting idea if you want to start a family in your 40s as IVF stats are terrible with your own eggs and natural conception is, well you know better than anyone what a cruel lottery it can be.

Willitbe - I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you.

JBrd - delighted it is all going well.

Morien - any news??

AFM - I'm off to do some gardening! Happy sunday to all.

tadpole I hope you've managed to have a nice weekend, in spite of your EDD.
These are incredibly difficult dates, and no one will ever understand who has not had a similar experience. I have never said anything to DH, as I don't think that he would understand... And I would struggle to make him see why it affects me so much. I found all 3 of mine very hard, even more as in all cases, there was someone close giving birth (well, the Royal baby isn't technically close to me, but it was everywhere, there was no escape), friends who would have been my 'bump buddies'...
I have not done anything on any of the days, but over the course of last year, I bought a beautiful rose for the garden and a charm for my bracelet, shaped like an angel's wing. Everyone is different, but I found comfort in these things.

Thank you very much, every one for the support.
On Saturday I bought a bottle of my favourite red and had a delicious glass. DP had a bit with me and we 'prosted' our little one.
I'm very touched by seeing how affected he is. He told me about the day of the mc. What he was doing when my phone call came. (He was 1.5hrs away working.)

JBrd I know what you mean about the Royal baby. And just generally everyone having babies. I would have been 'bump buddies' with a woman at work who now has her beautiful twins.

On the positive I now have people to take over renting my flat so that I can start packing. That should take my mind off ttc.

I'm not going to give up just yet, but I think maybe I won't leave a room for the nursery either. I would hate to have to change it should it not work out in the end.

Morien Hope all's well!

Happy Monday!

Hello everyone, I hope it's OK if I join in? I'm 41, have a lovely DS who is almost 3 and we are just starting on our IVF journey (DS was an IVF too due to low sperm mobility). We've finally got the money together and I'm praying it's not too late for us. Good luck to everyone x

Have any of you lovely ladies had any experience coming off the mini pill? I took my last pill on valentines day and for the past couple of days I've felt really sick and got very sore boobs, almost like pregnancy symptoms, could it be my body just settling back down? x

i came off cerazette some time 3 and more years ago, and it took 6 weeks for the cycle to reappear, half of the time i was conicnced i was pg already, with all the sore boobs/weird discharge etc thing. So yes, what you are feeling linda can very much be affected by coming off the pill.

welcome minibmw. how is that for short - mini or rather bmw? :-)))

Morien, congratulations on your beautiful DD, glad you are both doing ok.

JBrd, what excellent news for you, here's hoping all continues to be well.

Sorry for yet another loss willitbe, sounds like you are doing what you need to to cope.

Hi to all, hang in there, it is possible. I hope I don't sound patronising, but it seems to me (& this is just my perception) that the success rate for take home babies on this thread is rather higher than statistics would suggest - I know we are a self-selected lot and that, but even so...

Morien, you went to 42 weeks, and gave birth (without induction) to a 4kg baby in a country where normal procedures foresee convincing people 4kgs only come out by c? i am standing up in your honor (having done a run for safer place to give birth to my own 4,6 kg last time, narrowly escaping a doc waving a knife at me in the airport:-) and looking forward to the full story. and i envy you your doctor!

Jass I am picturing the scene of the dr chasing a heavily pregnant woman through the airport wielding that knife. Strangely enough I'm hearing Benny Hill music in my head....
So my not quite 4 yr old dd wants earrings and a Super Girl tattoo. I worry for the teenage years!
