The smallprint –
Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 6+months (preferably 12+) NO instadiffers, must have a special pot and def no mention of baby dust or baby dancing UGH !!! Ooooh aren’t we strict!

The 17th thread, wow! This had better be it ladies, time to get off the Sofa of Pity onto the Pouffe of Positivity and beyond!

CatsCantFlyFast · 31/12/2013 15:41

Kitty that's awful. Was that 12 weeks? No baby or no heartbeat. Thinking of her

BlindKitty · 31/12/2013 15:53

Merk It was 9 weeks. No baby, just the yolk sac.

Gillster · 31/12/2013 16:07

That's so sad Kitty and it must be hard for you to know what to do to comfort her. How has she lost her funding though? Surely if she hasn't had a live birth then she would still qualify?

yorkiebilb · 31/12/2013 17:00

Oh kitty I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. So heartbreaking. Suggest the mc threads to her as I found them very useful to chat to others going through the same thing. Also, we are always here to chat if she wants. Big hugs to her x

CatsCantFlyFast · 31/12/2013 17:07

Heartbreaking. Sending virtual hugs to her and you kitty x

funkymonk · 31/12/2013 17:38

Oh kitty, that's so so sad. You're poor friend. She must be beside herself. I just don't know what to say. Poor poor girl.

funkymonk · 31/12/2013 17:38

*your

Aquarius1 · 31/12/2013 17:40

So sad for your friend kitty - cant think how she must be feeling. hope she has plenty of support around her.

snow sorry you've reached you're first ttc anniversary & hope your gp takes things forward for you. We're 'au naturel' as well, for the time being (apart from a little bit of surgical interference). I've never been to a chiropractor so can't help on that. Think I'll be trying acupuncture in 2014 if the surgery hasn't helped.

bunny can understand your mixed feelings - do hope you are feeling positive though- keeping everything crossed for you.

Going back to your earlier question bunny, I think I'm going to say a fond farewell to 2013 from a personal perspective as it's taught me a lot, and should make 2014 a bit easier to cope with from a ttc point of view- but as part of the Berry collective i agree, glad to put 2013 behind us and move on to bigger, better and brighter 2014. May it bring us all good things.

funkymonk · 31/12/2013 17:41

Does anybody know about sperm analysis norms?
We rang clinic today for results as not bothered before as had bfp day after sample was handed in. They said 22 million sperm in sample. 62% motility and 3% morphology. They said they like 4% but from my internet reading I am getting a variety of ranges. This seems very low

ladybunnikins · 31/12/2013 17:42

So sorry to hear that Kitty and I hope she does still qualify for NHS IVF, or that she can repeat the treatment that got her pregnant this time.

Pipbin · 31/12/2013 17:51

Kitty that is so sad.
Did she conceive naturally? Hopefully she can get back on the IVF train. There is plenty of room here.

FeatherFeather11 · 31/12/2013 18:05

How very sad for your friend kitty :( hope she's as ok as can be. She must be devastated, understandably.

funky sorry, not sure about SA figures. I'd imagine that it must be fine because you've had a bfp though.

snow sorry you've hot the one year, but great that investigations are underway. Better to be armed with as much info as possible.

It's been a strange festive season for me: uncle had a heart attack and is now in a coma, my three month mark should have been Christmas Day, and my mum called me this morning to say that my 7month pregnant SiL's waters have broken and looks like she's going to have the baby 8 weeks early (as in, any day now). Sheesh. I'll be glad to see the back of 2013, but agree with Aquarius in that I've learned a lot about myself in the past year.

Here's to a bountiful, happy, healthy 2014, bursting with with Berrie BFP's. Thank you all for being such an incredible support. I'm off to neck some cava now. *hic! X

tigerdog · 31/12/2013 18:22

hey funky coincidentally I was just looking over my DPs results from our local womens hospital and the results sheet gives the following reference ranges:

Concentration: anything above 20m is within normal range

Motility: anything above 50% is considered normal but apparently you also need to know progressive motility (the ones that move forward) which should also be above 50%

Morphology: On our results it says 'normal forms' which I think translates to morphology and they give anything above 5% as being within normal range.

Hope that helps.

snow I am at a similar stage to you, having been ttc for a year. My GP did the preliminary tests last month (so far all ok) and we have our first NHS FC appointment in January.

feather I am also cracking out the fizz! I agree with having a bit of a blow out when it all gets too much, even if just to avoid the raised eyebrows (or worse, the direct questioning!) if I am spotted without a drink. Seems none of my mates avoided drinking whilst ttc, so when I quite drinking earlier in the year, I got asked if I was pg about 100 times.

Happy New Year to all berries, here's to a wonderful 2014!

ladybunnikins · 31/12/2013 18:42

Funky page 18 of this has semen analysis:

Thunderpantsarego · 31/12/2013 21:21

kitty I am so so sorry to hear this about your friend. The poor thing. As the others have said I really hope she can find a way to qualify for ivf or at least gets a bfp very soon like she did this time. What a shit new year it must be for her.

As for everyone else, wishing you all a really happy new year, and so many good things for 2014. It feels like great things are imminent - let's empty the thread in the next few months!

barkingtreefrog · 31/12/2013 22:31

Sorry about your friend kitty. I'd second yorkie's suggestion about the mc boards, they really helped me. I know she wasn't keen on mn at all though so don't know if she'd want to start now.

I've been AWOL with no mobile reception or internet in Scotland. After two days of camping and walking in torrential rain we decamped to the house of friends who live up here and we're seeing in new year with a bottle of wine in front of the tv in the warm and dry instead!

2013 for me has had massive highs (health improvements, getting engaged and getting pg) but it's difficult to avoid feeling like the whole year has been s^ because of the miscarriage and the total absence of a cycle or ovulation in the 4 months since. I really need to focus on the positives going into 2014. I'm getting married! And I will by some miracle get pg. Fx for acupuncture! Grin

As an aside, I said to DP there was no point taking more clomid until I properly got my cycles back, and hopefully the accupuncture will help. He asked why I didn't call the gp to see what they could do. I explained there was no point as last time they just referred me back to the FC. So he asked why I didn't get another FC appointment and I explained that I'd called them but I didn't get further than leaving a message with the consultant's secretary who called back to tell me to take a pg test then carry on with the clomid. He said I shouldn't leave it, I should demand more. I pointed out that there were two of us involved in this and he could call himself, especially as he was less likely to start crying down the phone. He said he would. So. Onwards and upwards into 2014!! Grin Grin

BoodleDoo · 01/01/2014 00:36

Glad to see the back of 2013!!! So sorry about your friend, kitty, what crappy news. She should get herself on mn; there's plenty on here who can relate to what she is going through, and it's not like some if us are strangers!

funkymonk · 01/01/2014 01:52

Happy New Year ladies. Who will be the first bfp of the year? bunny bunny bunny

Really hope 2014 is good for your friend kitty. Would he nice for her to join us here for support.

Very sorry about your uncle feather and I hope you have another bfp to celebrate soon. Any news from your sil? 8 weeks is early hey.

Hope Mr Barking will be picking up the phone to the clinic first thing Thursday morning!

Thanks lady and tiger. I'm concerned about poor morphology despite bfp as been reading about poor sperm quality/morphology in relation to recurrent miscarriage and the evidence seems to be there. Eek.u

funkymonk · 01/01/2014 01:53

Apologies for any spelling errors or nonsense. I've had a few lots of wines.

ladybunnikins · 01/01/2014 09:21

Funky have you got him on wellman multivits or similar? I credit this with improving my DH's low sperm count and morphology, it's now normal.

Bunnygirlie · 01/01/2014 09:57

Happy New Year!!!!! Berries 2014 is the one!!!!!

aquarius yep it's all about the positivity this year! I will be pg sometime this year!!!!!

feather what a grotty festive period, bring on the new year!

Not sure I have learned anything about myself this year, other than I have a bitter twisted green eyed monster inside me!!! Wink

Oooh barking of course, you are getting married! Don't we have a few berry weddings coming up, happy too? When when when ladies?

funky I bloody hope so!!!!!

As for me, I was very brave and did my first jab yesterday evening Shock

Happy New Year Berries Smile

Bunny how is the injecting going? Is it difficult? Any side effects? Did you start other drugs on your previous cd21? Sorry all the questions! Any other berries know anything about IVF time scales? We've got our planning appt in around 7 weeks now, and trying to work out dates as DH and I will be abroad for 5 weeks over May, so starting to think we won't fit in our ICSI cycle before we go. Was hoping to start in Jan and have good news to tell my family in May, but may have to wait until June now! Don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing really.

Sid have you heard back from the consultant? I would worry about wasting anyone's time (maybe just the wasting of money) as you may regret not seeing her if things start to go a bit haywire. It's her job to help you, so I'd defo see her if I was you.

Snow I'm afraid I have no idea about chiropractors helping with fertility, but I think any positive effect on your body will have a positive effect on your fertility!

Kitty sorry about your friend Sad I'm sure it's dreadful for her, but it must be hard for you too. Thanks

Funky my DH had only 9 mil count and 1% morph, which has meant we are having IVF with ICSI. I think anything between 5 -15 % morph is normal on the Kruger scale, and these things can vary so hopefully it won't be too mush of a problem for you guys. Lady that's good news re the vitamins - mine's been on wellman so hopefully they will improve things for us too. Since being on the pregnacare I've stopped spotting before AF (used to spot for up to a week before it was due!) and our fert Dr raved about them.

Feather hope things go well for you SIL, it must be pretty scary for her.

Barking in the warm and dry sounds like a good place to welcome in the new year!

BlindKitty · 01/01/2014 10:52

gill apparently her health authority say if you've been pregnant in last 3 years (live birth or not) you don't qualify

yorkie I've been trying to get her to join this thread for I don't know how long so I doubt she'll join another

lady pip she conceived on her first month of progesterone pessaries (she has cycles of about 21 days so womb doesn't prepare itself) so she has very chance of it working again but she doesn't see it like that

funky my dh's morph was 3%. FC told us not to worry as the count was good. Not sure what your dh's count is?

barking good idea at getting dp to call. Wish I'd thought of that rather than crying down the phone to them! Oh and yey to getting married this year (and undoubtedly getting diffed)

feather your sil just reminded me of my friend who went into labour at 26 weeks (waters broke at 20 weeks). Baby defied all odds and is a happy healthy 5 year old!

Thanks everyone for advice re my friend. It's really helpful Xmas Smile

BlindKitty · 01/01/2014 11:16

funky in addition to ladys comment re well man vits, I also made Dh go alcohol free for the 2 months prior to our iui. Obviously no idea if it helped as they dont test for morph when you have iui (they check everythibg else). He's making up for it for now though mind.
