AF arrived so booked in for scan on Monday Sad although to fair at least the clinic managed to get me in this cycle.

Don't know how anyone can drink herbs - luckily when I had my brief affair with acupuncture it wasn't suggested.

In terms of diet - low carb, high protein, fruit and veg and keep up calcium (kale, broccoli etc) and I think the FC suggested no more than 5 units of alcohol a week (well that's what ours says!)

Hope everyone's week is going well....

Broccoli with every meal birdy- that's a step too far for me I think!

I have switched to almond milk instead of cows milk, quit caffeine and already eat mainly fruit, veg (more than 5 a day) and fish based diet with v limited meat and only small amounts of alcohol (except Dec when I drank a fair amount for the first time in over a year!)

The daft thing is that most people I know didn't make any lifestyle changes before ttc and heavy boozing, bad diets obesity and smoking husbands hasn't stopped them from getting pg. unfair. And here I am wondering if the odd chocolate bar needs to go as well...running out of things to give up!

First FC appointment today. Underwhelming. Details taken by student, who must have been about 21 and was sweet but clueless. Brief chat with Dr who explained that next step was hsg, usually takes 3 months to arrange so booked in for follow up in May to discuss results and that was it. Total conveyor belt experience, not at all personal. Plus irrationally annoyed by the nurses insistence on squashing me whilst measuring my height and telling me I'm 5'4. I'm 5'6 and have been every other time I've been measured for the last 15 years or more, unless I have weirdly shrunk?!

Sorry rant over.....Hope everyone else is ok!

barkingtreefrog · 14/01/2014 22:39

Seems about standard tiger unfortunately.

feather and merk last time I didn't get much more than this, but I did eventually ovulate, so figure it might be worth a shot. However, wise merk, no harm in waiting a couple of days and doing it the American way. FC don't seem remotely interested in what I do anyway!

I'm still worried about the lack of bleeding, but I guess women with pcos don't bleed and they still get pg on clomid? Am I right?

BlindKitty · 15/01/2014 07:14

tiger the only people who seem to like their fcs are the ones who go private, I'm afraid. That said, I'm eternally grateful to mine now but not after thinking they were all twats for a good while!

FeatherFeather11 · 15/01/2014 09:49

barking I have pcos too and bleed heavily. Think it's different for everybody. Have you always had a light af or is it only since the mc?

tiger don't be disheartened! Just remember that this is a step towards getting what you want. Conveyor belts suck, but just use it as much as poss (that sounds horrible, hope you get what I mean!). And know what you mean about binge drinking obese smokers getting preg at the drop of a hat. V frustrating.

barkingtreefrog · 15/01/2014 10:32

feather AF has got lighter and lighter since coming off the pill. Not had more than the tiniest bit of spotting since the mc. I'm worried that if I'm not bleeding it's because there's no womb lining to shed, which I'm guessing would be a problem. But I don't know, and it's driving me crazy!

BlueBirdy · 15/01/2014 13:35

Hi all,

To be honest, I struggle to get through my 5 a day so if our dinner requires a side of veg I always use broccoli. I've read that it is a 'super food' so a really good antioxidant, which lessens the effect of free radicals, and since DH has bad morph, I thought if anything is going to help, it will be broccoli! I may be completely wrong though! Grin

Tiger your diet sounds super healthy! And quite delicious... I think I'm too lazy when it comes to planning meals! Aside from stir fries and egg fried rice I can't think of any veg meals that would feel substantial enough - do you have any recommendations?

HB what is your scan on Monday for? Are you still looking at around May for IVF start dates? We get back from our holiday then so will starting then too.

Barking have you ever had a scan to check the thickness of your endometrium? You may well be right in worrying about that, though I don't know mach about it at all, but apparently viagra can thicken the lining if it is considered to be too thin.

barkingtreefrog · 15/01/2014 15:42

bluebirdy I've had a few dildocams (ha, I love that my phone predicts the word dildocam!) but no one has mentioned the lining. I'd love someone to tell me I'm worrying about nothing!

BlueBirdy · 15/01/2014 16:20

Barking that's good, I'm sure they would have noticed and mentioned something if it was a problem. It's not unheard of to have v light periods, suppose you are just 'lucky' then Smile

Gillster · 15/01/2014 18:18

Heart is pounding - just told my boss about impending IVF! He was lovely about it and has pretty much ordered me to take it easy, not to get stressed and not to take any shit off anyone. Couldn't wish for anymore than that really. Smile

HampshireBlues · 15/01/2014 18:34

Gillster well done you - told my boss last week and his response was much the same. Glad that yours is going to be supportive Smile
Bluebirdy the scan is a 'pelvic assessment scan* I was given so much info last week that my brain is fried..... I think it helps in determining drug dosages?! (god I'm rubbish at this already!). Not looking forward to it Sad. Still looking at May so perhaps we can buddy up?

tigerdog · 15/01/2014 19:11

birdy it only sounds super healthy because I didn't mention my chocolate habit!! I generally get creative with beans and lentils and chick peas - shepherds pie, curries and Mexican stuff like veggie fajitas or bean burritos, pasta with lots of roasted veg etc. plus fish fairly regularly with lots of veggies. River Cottage Veg Everyday is quite a good book for inspiration.

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/01/2014 19:12

Gill that's great news.

Bunny can I request a list... Everyone seems to have lots going on and I've lost track might be your last list before you get in the copter Wink

barkingtreefrog · 15/01/2014 19:42

Great to hear of supportive bosses gillster and hb Grin .

janey1234 · 15/01/2014 19:43

Oh and think that required vaccinations don't include yellow fever etc either....

janey1234 · 15/01/2014 19:55

Ignore me. Wrong berry thread ConfusedConfused

BlindKitty · 15/01/2014 20:33

barking your post just made me count my dildocams. Can you believe I've had 6, have another booked for next week and another the fortnight after?! I just lurve the dildocams haha!!

HampshireBlues · 15/01/2014 20:38

How do you tolerate them all? I mean they are a means to an end but..... The nurse who saw me last week has tried to erasure me that the scan on Monday won't be as bad as the HyCOSy but not sure if I believe her. Any advice?

BoodleDoo · 15/01/2014 20:40

I've got a date with a dildocam next week too. Buggeration! I hate having them in winter - it's too damn cold!

BoodleDoo · 15/01/2014 20:42

Oh, HB, internal scans are really no bother at all. Just a bit embarrassing with a bit of full bladder discomfort.

RevoltingPeasant · 15/01/2014 20:45

Tiger is it s bit worrying if they then assess your bmi on that height? As it might be way out - ie too high?

Would also recommend River Cottage Veg Every Day. I eat lunch out of that book and we went through a stage of doing most dinners from it too. We get a weekly organic veg box and then see what we get, and take inspiration from Hugh!

tigerdog · 15/01/2014 21:47

rp it was shambolic and the nurse was off her rocker. Luckily my BMI was still under 25 even having lost two inches of height but it bumped it up by two points. I did try to tell her that I wasn't stood straight when measuring my height and she went on about someone who claimed they were 5'9 and was only 5'2 like I was making it up! It is worrying though if they are that careless - particularly if using BMI to determine eligibility.

Well done gill on telling your boss, must have been nerve wracking to have to share such private stuff.

Having a giggle at the whole concept of dildocam - I was horrified the first time but getting used to the indignity. Have got laugh at it all sometimes. OH spent ages chuckling to himself the other day about the fact that someone at the FC must have the job of laminating the dodgy porn!

barkingtreefrog · 16/01/2014 07:48

Temp went back down this morning. Don't think I'm going to get a 'flow'. Yesterday's spotting was more than Tuesday's spotting. I think I'm going to start the clomid tonight. Given it took me 32 days to maybe ovulate last cycle I don't want to leave it any longer or I'll be back at peak acne in time for my wedding day!!! Sad Angry
