Ok, so I'm driving myself mad. We weren't ttc. However, I've been feeling for a while now like I'm pg. I have 3 DC and some of the signs are similar. We used protection but of course contraception can fail.
I have done numerous tests over the last few weeks and all have been neg. Some of the tests had a super faint hint of something but so faint that I assumed must be evap lines as no colour to the line and could only be seen when held up to the light and looking very hard.
Anyway, so I accepted I'm not and tried to move on. Tonight I was lying down watching tv and felt a sensation like fluttering, you know, the feeling you get when you first start feeling baby move.
I looked on the calendar and we would have last done the deed around 11-12 wks ago.
I honestly feel like I'm going mad. What is going on?!!

Go to drs/midwife? might not be much use atm but it's a start?

WhatsTheCrack · 23/11/2013 21:45

Yeah, I guess I might have to at some point. I'm just worried they'll think I've actually gone mad. I mean, it sounds mad doesn't it?!
Just wanted to know if it would be possible to be that far along and not test positive..

It doesn't sound possible? The hormone would be high in your system by now so should be showing up a positive on a hpt. How many have you done? Could it be faulty tests if from the same box?

Gingerpanther27 · 23/11/2013 22:12

Its no madder sounding than some of the stuff I've cooked up in my head Grin I'm not sure if hpt would be positive at that point or not because once the hormone peaks you don't always get result....I was interested in all this whilst pregnant :)

WhatsTheCrack · 23/11/2013 22:16

Oh, I've done a few! Tried 3 different brands as I was so paranoid. So, deffo not a faulty testGrin

I think I'm gonna have to do some googling. I just can't be the weirdo who has imagined she's pg at the drs! Plus, it's really hard to get a chance to see the dr without the DC tagging alongHmm

A friend of mine has 4 (birth) children and never had a single positive pregnancy test. So it can happen.

Honeybear30 · 23/11/2013 22:40

I've just googled out of sheer fascination at this and it seems it could be possible. Read a few stories about women who never got a positive hpt, but were convinced they were pg and turns out they were. Also apparently the hormone becomes only traceable in blood rather than urine at some point so if you've got that far you could be getting negatives. Think you'll have to try and see the doctor somehow!

Oh godBlush

But what about your periods in the last 12 weeks? And did you feel the babies move so early in your other pregnancies?

There's definitely a point where pregnancy test no longer work, ie heavily pregnant women will test negative, but I have no idea when it is!

WhatsTheCrack · 24/11/2013 13:44

Well, my periods only just returned (bfing) just after we did the deed. But, the two bleeds I have had were shorter than any periods I've had in the past and I had no cramps at all. They were a bit strangeHmm
I felt DC1 move around 13 wks, DC2&3 a bit later..

If you're 11-12 weeks pregnant you should be able to feel the top of your uterus poking up above your pelvic bone. Can you?

I must say from your description it sounds very unlikely and that fluttering feeling could easily just be gas. Go and see your GP if you're seriously worried. I would've thought a feel of your uterus would be enough to make a diagnosis.

WhatsTheCrack · 24/11/2013 14:10

June- I've tried to have a feel but as my belly is a little on the podgy side, I can't tell what's whatBlush

I know it sounds unlikely, I don't even want to be pg so I'm not wishing it was the case.. I just have felt like I am for a while, I'm obviously just going completely mad.

Did a 'one step' cheapy this morning.. When I can back from the school run (good half hour later) there was a very faint 2nd line. I know it's outside the time limit but this is what happened the last 2 times I was pg..
I have to hold it to the light to see it, it's that faint..

I would strongly suggest you go and see your GP and have your bloods taken to see if you're PG. I have no experience of this, but if this was like your other pregnancies you should go check things out to be sure either way.

Good luck.

WhatsTheCrack · 25/11/2013 11:29

Well, when I say it is like my other pregnancies I mean that I got faint positives even a week past when my period was due. I don't know how I would have tested at 12wks as I never tested at that point..
I guess I should check with the dr, just feel embarrassed to goBlush

OP posts:
LittleOwlie · 25/11/2013 13:42

Just think about that program "Embarrassing Bodies"...hopefully then you won't feel embarrassed at all. Wink

Seriously, I don't think checking out your worries and concerns is something to be embarrassed about.

Good luck

Sounds like a trip to the GP is in order - if you are really 11-12 weeks then you'd need a scan very soon. Good luck! The faint line makes me think that you are pg - I got a v faint line at first, also well after AF was due and outside the time limit on the test. It did get darker over a few days, though. V confusing that it's potentially 11-12 weeks and still that faint! Keep us posted.

WhatsTheCrack · 25/11/2013 17:21

Thanks LittleOSmile

TooExtra - it is all a bit strange. I know I sounds totally bonkers too!
I counted from the last time I had a bleed (lasted about 3 days, no cramps) and if it was a period the I'd be due at AF again Friday. Not sure if it will arrive though as I had a light bleed then a 50 day break then another light oneHmm
Anyway, my point was, I'm going to wait till fri and possibly try a Tesco hpt in between now and then (they always seemed pretty good in the past) then if no further forward will see go next week..

WhatsTheCrack · 25/11/2013 22:51

Um thanks, we weren't ttc, tbh, we weren't going to have any more and we'd have to move if I am!!
I can't say a baby of ours wouldn't be loved though, it would just be a bit.. Inconvenient for a while if I amBlush
Been to Tesco, got a test from the pharmacy, they didn't have any Tesco brand ones, which is what I wanted to try..
Never mind. Will try this one in the morning..
