Part 2 this way!

We had 6 BFPs in just over a month on the first thread, so here's hoping the luck continues.

The scanner will check if you want the nuchal test, Donna. Or you can tell them you don't want it when you go in.

We didn't have it last time and won't next time either.

probably reading into things too much you know how wee scrutinise everything haha xx just strange as it says its a 2 hrs appointment? Hmm

HungryHorace · 16/11/2013 17:05

Oh, and yay Mrs too!

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 16/11/2013 17:07

That sounds like it's a booking in appt too, Donna. But you've had that, so that's a bit odd.

I know some Trusts do it like that, but clearly yours didn't with you.

I'm sure they won't keep you that long if they don't have to!

mrsm22 · 16/11/2013 19:47

Thanks Hungry x
Donna - the 12 week scan is called the dating scan but in my letter it also details the nuchal screening which I think is very important to have, but it's a personal choice. Your midwife should have asked you if you wanted it and booked you in for that if you said so. Hungry is right, you can just tell them at the hospital if you don't want to have it. I had it with my DS and I'd really want to know about Down syndrome as I think it would be heartbreakingly sad. Mine doesn't say two hours though. I'm glad our scans are close together . Mine is 2 pm on the tues. The thing is, I've already booked my private one on Monday and I don't know if it's silly not to just wait but I've booked it now and it would be nice to know sooner . Still nervous and just hope everything is ok. Donna - have you told anyone at work?

donnas1984 · 16/11/2013 20:13

mrs my appointment is at 2:10pm! freaky haha I jad to tell my work as I was constantly running to the loo to throw up they had pretty much guessed. I'm a receptionist and have to be smart so they clocked the longer cardigan compared to my usual dress jacket combo haha what is it you do I know you've prob said but my memory aint to great just now. I'd still go for your scan on Monday and you must must must upload it to FacebookGrin

Is anyone planning to stop working once they have there second dc? Xx

Toothpastekissesno2 · 16/11/2013 20:13

Lucy I know that feeling! I would dtd if u can. It's def worth staying up for as will be giving it best shot. I always find it a bit of a relief once the dtd window was done! We haven't dtd since the bfp. Feel bit bad and I did first time but I guess bit more tired second time round!
And Lucy u are so right. I think that is the clearest thing to come from this thread in a way. U worry worry worry about getting a bfp but then the worry continues until the scan and then on and on! I guess the lesson is to count blessings and appreciate what we all have.
Saying that my ds is still off colour and really let us know about it today. Oh my god! The soundtrack to my day has been hardcore whinging! And he still won't eat much which I find upsetting. Anyone know good place for advice on problem eating for one year old?! (Surely that's meant to come later!)
Donna and mrs congrats on scan date! My paid for one is on 1st so we have back to back ones (though I will still be early days!) I sometimes worry I dont feel pregnant and have a sense of fear about that. But I think second time round u have less time to dwell on it I suppose! X

mrsm22 · 16/11/2013 20:28

Hi Donna - I work in the tax department at PwC in Leeds. I have been there since 2007 but am really not enjoying it anymore. I am not planning to go back after this next baby. Are you planning on being a SAHM? I want to stay at home until both my babies are at school and then find something that fits in with school hours but I'd want to do something totally different from what I'm doing. Maybe teaching assistant or working in a school office.
Oh I know I'm a big worrier and stress head but I'm getting nervous now about the scan on Monday. I am just so happy to be pregnant and I will be so upset if anything is wrong. I honestly don't think I could last and wait til my NHS one.
Hi Toothpaste - sorry to hear your DS is still not well. Could teething be playing a part in it as my DS is a bit whiney and off his food at the moment for that same reason. I tend to give him more bottles of milk (I didn't breast feed) and he loves a bottle, ideal when they're not eating much as it has all the nutrients. How far do you think you'll be Toothpaste when you go for your private scan? Gosh that's exciting, we've got scans on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

HungryHorace · 16/11/2013 21:33

We decided we wouldn't want to know about Down's as we wouldn't act on a positive result anyway, so decided it wasn't worth the worry.

And we know people who were given 1:30 odds and the baby was fine. And I've also heard the opposite too. But like you say, it's personal choice. Like having the flu / whooping cough jabs is too.

I can't wait to see all of the scans on Facebook. :-)

I feel very periody tonight. Odd. Seem like my body loves to keep me second guessing!

OP posts:
mrsm22 · 16/11/2013 22:29

Sorry Hungry that your body seems to be playing tricks on you. When do you expect AF to be due irate you now unsure?

HungryHorace · 16/11/2013 22:46

I have absolutely no idea. If it wasn't AF the other week I'm now a week overdue.

If it was, I've no idea which day would be CD 1 so I'm not too sure where I'd be in my cycle. Monday was the heaviest day of spotting - though nowhere near AF heavy - so I suppose I could use that day, which would mean I'd be on CD 13 and due AF in about 17 days.

I'll keep doing the OPKs so I at least know if I (attempt to) ovulate.

It's so complicated! :-(

donnas1984 · 16/11/2013 22:48

God Hungry mother nature is sertainly Fking with you this monthAngry

Mrs I plan on leaving work for a few years then returning once kids are at school. I love my iob just not my current employer. I've been there for 9 years and have seen so many changes - none for the better!
Toothpaste we can have daily scan updates like opening your advent calendar well for 3 days anyway! Yes I'm a Christmas freak will have my tree up on the 1st! will be good this year dd is giving her dummies to santa in exchange for toys we hope.

HungryHorace · 16/11/2013 23:18

We will be better off if I don't go back to work this time, or at least find a part time job nearer to home (my current role can't be part time, and I can't change job roles either).

I probably won't go back after number 2 until they're at school. But we shall see.

And yes Donna. My body is letting me down big style right now. I bloody feel pregnant despite all the BFNs. I'm baffled. :-/

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 16/11/2013 23:19

And that's cute re your DD. What's the going rate of dummies required to get a toy?!

OP posts:
mrsm22 · 17/11/2013 11:22

Hi everyone, hope we are all having a nice weekend. I think my DS is starting with cold, his nose is runny and he sounds very rustled. Poor baby. We've got my DH's grandad coming over today for cake and tea, he turned 90 yesterday so is coming with some family. My sister in law had a baby girl on the 15th, on Friday and she went into labour and into hospital around 10.30pm, had the baby at 3am and her and baby were home by 6am. No pain relief and not one stitch! I'm really pleased for her as this is her second and they have a DS who is nearly 3 but she had the most horrific birth you could imagine and not only that but it took them about 6 years to conceive. It's so reassuring to hear a nice story about childbirth.
Donna - fab idea about the dummy's. My DS never used one but we did try. One of my sisters still has one at nearly 6. Good idea about the advent calendar style scan updates, we will do that. I think it goes:
1st Dec - Toothpaste
2nd Dec - Donna
3rd Dec - mrsm
I have my private one tomo and I'm getting nervous now. I hope it's all good. Not until 6.40pm though.
I love Xmas too and will be getting a real tree this year. Hungry - I hope you're next for a BFP, I think you deserve it after all the messing about your body has done recently. I have fingers crossed for you and for Lucy xx

HungryHorace · 17/11/2013 11:40

Your day sounds lovely, Mrs. :-) And how wonderful for your SiL.

We're looking at places to live today as our landlords are selling up. The joy.

I'm not sure I deserve to be next with a BFP. I do hope it happens soon though. :-) I'm going to monitor / do OPKs based on where I think I should be (CD9) and if I've not had a positive OPK / AF by about 60 days after my last proper AF I'll go to the GP and see what's going on. Hopefully the weird spotting will be enough to investigate as they say you should look at abnormal bleeding. Until then, we shall just DTD as often as possible. :-)

HungryHorace · 17/11/2013 11:52

Oh, and even my app is taking the piss out of me as it says 'Cycle day 39 (pregnant?)'. Bastard.

OP posts:
mrsm22 · 17/11/2013 11:53

Sounds like a plan Hungry! Sorry to hear you've got to look for a new place, I hope you find something soon xx

TheBookofRuth · 17/11/2013 18:14

Hello. I just wanted to let you all know that this has been a lucky thread for me - I got a BFP on Wednesday, four days before I was due on, and I've just re-tested and got another one.

Can't believe it - I just joined this thread as we'd just decided to stop trying not to get pregnant, and didn't want to make myself crazy with very precisely timed, highly pressurised sex like last time. I was sure it was going to take ages, as it took 18 months with DD, but we must have got extraordinarily lucky as it took first time - literally, first time, we've only had unprotected sex once this month.

Expected due date is 29th July, when DD will be 2.7. Good luck and BFPs to all of you!

HungryHorace · 17/11/2013 18:30

Yay! Another first month BFP. Crazy!

Congrats, BoR. :-)

Yay!!!! It's finally worked for someone. Ok, the thread can stay. I was going to insist on a number three Grin

Congratulations BOR x

lucyjojo · 17/11/2013 20:11

Evening all, just checking in quickly to say hello before I took into my sunday dinner! Just got back from seeing my besties last night, we went out and had some drinks and a girly chat, just what I needed, but feeling a bit hungover today! So maybe/ maybe not this will be my month. Managed a quick dtd yesterday morning before I left, and can't really be arsed tonight, will probably leave it til tomorrow night now, so that will only make one dtd at peak ovulation, hopefully that will be enough??
Big congratulations Ruth!!!!! What a lovely age gap and due date for you too. we finally got a bfp on this thread, lets hope this is the first of 6!!!! Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend, will catch up properly tomorrow x

Kt1991 · 17/11/2013 20:14

Congratulations BOR! Smile Please send the good luck this way!

TheBookofRuth · 17/11/2013 20:38

Thank you everyone! Is it ok that I'm freaking out a bit?! I had honestly expected it to take months (and months and months...) and I now find myself going "oh god, am I really ready for another baby? I've only just worked out the one I've got!"

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 17/11/2013 20:46

You're growing a tiny human being... you're perfectly entitled to freak out as much as you like Grin
