This is all so new & scary to me so just looking for people I can chat to who know as fewof the abbreviations as me and are going through all the same scary stuff for the first time!! Either that or some pro's who don't mind my million questions!!

I'm very early stages as in body still coming off the contraceptive pill so it might be a while til a get my BFP (I do know that one!!) so might need some chums in the meantime!

Thanks for the tips :) random question - but has anyone experienced any weird symptoms since starting the folic acid? I'm hoping it's just a con incidence and not some bizarre side effect but I've had a really runny nose and it's a very odd colour!!!

tinaw20 I found that my temps during my first cycle after coming off the pill and the early part of this one were all over the place as well. They seem to be settling now, but saying that AF is now about 30 million days late (slight exaggeration, now CD53 and no sign) so goodness knows what my cycle is doing.

Hi. Newbie here too. Have a son aged 3, now ttc #2. On first month waiting for af due date start of October before even trying to think about it too much but not doing a great job as I'm here! Had cramps every day since I stopped ovulating but no idea if that means anything!

hello girls... I am going slightly excited here too! AF due in about a week or earlier and ....yep tested myself on monday it wss negative but will surely invest in those cheapy ebay tests as well Smile Smile Smile

Well AF has now finally shown up on day 54 of my second cycle since I came off the pill. Of course, it had to be today when I was booked in to have a smear test so they couldn't do it and I have to go back in a month. But I don't know if that'll mean another AF time given the timing, no way to tell I guess!

DH is also due home from deployment next week so it also means this is the start of cycle 1 of ttc for us.

I have to admit I have had a few moments of "what on earth are we doing, this is a scary plan!" today. Does anyone else get those moments?

Hi sorry for not replying retro hippy, I've done my first temp today with a thermometer from eBay, but I also did a left over clear blue ov test this am as its day 6 of my cycle, and I got a smiley face! Last month nothing but I don't think I tested this early although it says to do so on the pack...so maybe they do work, or it could just be wrong again.
On the temp taking I think I read somewhere to try and be as still as you can after waking, well as my 2 yr old was in the middle of us, and her doll kept head butting me, and she was generally pushing me out the bed! I was tossing and turning a lot so prob temp was totally wrong lol!!!
It was 36.28 btw, not even sure what that means...off to do some googling on it! I should be working

On the vitamins questions. The pregnacare ones say take with a main meal, I always forget and then panic I've somehow done it wrong on an empty stomach and they won't work, I used sainsburys cheapy ones,
I'll look out for the coloured snot!!!!

Barmy is your DH in the Forces, snap if so Smile

had EWCM today, 2 days after finishing AF? Randomly quick ovulation perhaps due to MC?

Report
barmybunting · 27/09/2013 16:54

kitchen yes, my DH is in the forces. Hopefully on the way home from my least favourite sandy place in a few days. You hear tales of many return from deployment babies which always made me smile, and we are hoping to have one of our own this time round.

My concern is trying to time things when he is often away with work, hence I'm temping and things from the start.

Do you get a few stages of ewcm during your cycle? I don't know if it can happen, but I seem to get a second lot just before AF as well as ovulation so I wondered if that might be why for you?

So AF due tomorrow, feel like it's definitely coming! But, I have got terrible mouth ulcers?! Is this a symptom? Has anyone else had this? X

Any signs I thought might be pg signs are now just becoming usual af signs so I'm not very optimistic for this month. Stomach cramps, chocolate cravings and lethargy today - af not due for 5 days but never been that regular to the day. Oh well....it's not over til it's over!

Hi all, another newbie here... I'm 33 and took my last pill on 16 Sept so been actively dtd ever since! No idea what my cycle is like as been on the pill for 10+ years so will just have to wait to see what happens. Have found lots of stories of people who've fallen pregnant straight away but trying not to get my hopes up too much!!

Hi there everyone, I'm 33 and have just started ttc #3 - having spent the last 4 years procrastinating about why the time was all wrong ( money, career progression, older dc's needing my all etc) had brain switch approx 2 months ago and now am just incredibly broody and impatient. Am now in the awful 2ww cycle 1. Have been unbelievably lucky previously in that dd6 was a first time try and ds 4 was a complete accident (and about as close to the immaculate conception as its possible to be !)
Worried as am older this time round and this is the first time I have ever been on mn - some of the ladies on here are so brave and go through so much. I never realised ... Duh. Wishing you guys all the luck in the world and feel that oct will certainly see some BFPs on this thread 100% would be nice thankyou please. I'll be testing oct 9 th if no af Fx

So according to ovufriend I ovulated on the 26th sept (I'm guessing this was worked out by my temping) but that was only 5 days after my first cycle, so I'm pretty sure that's incorrect seeing as u have 30+ day cycles! Has anyone had this before?

Hello!
I'm brand new too and feeling a bit anxious...
I came off the pill in August, and AF is currently visiting for the first time in 13 years and I'm just hoping that things continue to be normal and I get back into a regular cycle. Feels a bit crazy and scary to think that we'll start trying very soon!
Good to have people's support : )

Hey, can i join in too? Im not exactly a newbie (im slightly addicted to the aibu board) but havent ventured over here before. Im 28, been with dp for 10 years and have been ttc since June. Was feeling all hopeful Friday - I swear i had symptoms - but AF came in the night Sad Been trying not to stress about it all day. So glad I've found this thread - i got married in dec last year and everyone is just waiting for us to have a baby with no idea we're trying x

Handbag, you sound the same as me! I'm 28 too and have been with my dh10 years and married for 2 and everyone asks constantly when we are going to have a baby!! Been trying since I came off the pill in August. AF was due yesterday according to 28 day cycle but I don't know yet if my cycle is sorted after coming off pill so I'm just going by last month. I do feel like AF will arrive any minute (cramps, a bit irritable) but I'm still hopeful even though I got a bfn yesterday. Good luck anyone testing today. X

I'm a newbie too! I'm 30, DH is 32, married for 3 years. Just started TTC #1. Decided we wanted children earlier this year and agreed to stop taking the pill in September/October (to line up with mat leave benefits from my new job). Took my last pill on Sat 14 Sept, and finally got around to dtd this weekend sans protection. Odd, but fun IYSWIM! Trying not to overthink things for now, just going to have regular sex and hope for the best...
I've ordered some cheap pg tests and OPKs today, incase I need them... I have practically convinced myself I am already pg because I am so excited! I started a list of baby names (all girls, so I'm bound to have a boy) about 8 months ago... losing it and i've not even had my first non pill AF! Grin

Hey hey! Have I killed this thread off? Ooops!

Does anyone know if it's even possible to get pregnant so soon after stopping the pill? Can you ov after stopping the pill, before your cycle 'resets' with a normal period? Confused

Report
barmybunting · 01/10/2013 19:39

Hi Meringuebaby. Yes, you can get pregnant after stopping the pill before you have a normal period. I was temping etc from the day I took my last pill, and according to various signs, ovulated 14 days after that, and my first normal period arrived on cd28, so I'm presuming all was well then.

I have seen numerous people on here saying they became pregnant before they had a normal period again.

Report
Meringuebaby · 01/10/2013 23:39

Thanks barmy now I'm even more excited! It's crazy to think I've been on the pill for fifteen years, I can barely remember what my normal periods are like. I do recall some terrific cramps and backache however. I'm quite nervous about getting a heavy one, as I'm not used to it.

I think I'm going to struggle not drinking tbh, not that I'm a huge drinker for the most part, but I probably have bottle of beer one/two evenings per week plus a skin full on Saturday nights... Does anyone know any believable excuses for explaining their lack of consumption without inadvertently announcing that they're ttc?!

Newlywed2013 · 02/10/2013 00:19

Meringue baby, you could always say it's because you had one too many previous weekend or something, or switch to alcohol free one, for example you say you have a bottle of beer get a necks blue and ask them to put if in a glass, another one I have had is appetizer in a wine glass and someone saying it was a spritzer x

Hi there, I'm not new been on a few threads but feeling totally lost about charting/temping & just looking for advice, I was hoping to be relaxed about the whole thing but 4 months in and my cycles are really irregular, 34,54 & still waiting at 39 days. I tried using opks last month but they were always negative, but I'm positive I'm getting EWCM can you get it & still not ovulate? If I get a period I must ovulate at some point must I? I have no clue! It's upsetting me now, I made the mistake of telling people in June we were trying so if course I get asked the question all the time, hubby's finding it difficult to 'perform' he says he doesn't feel pressured but he must :( How is this so easy for most people?

Report
tinaw20 · 02/10/2013 08:59

I've been known for enjoying a glass of wine or two so am also finding it difficult for people to not suspect that I'm either already pregnant or ttc, but I've started telling people I'm on a diet and sticking to 3-4 units a week (on docs advice) and everyone's bought it so far....

Breaking bad addict, I think I may suffer from the same problems as you as my ovulation symptoms have been all over the place! The chart says I've ovulated this month already which I know I haven't so I'm finding it impossible to know when to try the opk's!

Genius Tina I might give that a try. I have been going to the gym a fair bit and I play netball, so I might be able to hang a reduced alcohol intake on a fitness/diet reason too. Ace.

Breaking Although you are ahead of me in terms of ttc, I feel your anxiety! I don't think ttc is 'so easy for most people' I think it's quite tricky and worrying for more people than you would think. These days women put a lot of pressure on themselves to be brilliant across all their roles, wife, employee, daughter etc and when something so 'natural' as baby making throws a curveball at us, it's easy to stress out.

I wonder how much modern contraceptive have to answer for too, I mean being on the pill masks your real cycle. I have a friend who was on the pill for years and was advised to stop taking it when a routine smear uncovered potentially pre cancerous erosions on her cervix. They didn't say the erosions were caused by the pill, but they couldn't rule it out so she stopped taking it. I've been fairly dismissive of the link but now I'm off the pill and have been reading mumsnet, I can't help but think about the effects of longterm hormone popping on our cycles.

Sorry, that wasn't very helpful was it Confused

I feel sorry for our menfolk too, breaking they don't tend to open up about things like this do they and it's only natural that they would feel the pressure too. Sending relaxed baby making thoughts to you all.
