Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

BetterNotBitter - my DS is also 20 months same as your DD. His bday is end of December! And I too have only been off the pill for one week. I don't know much about the implant but it sounds similar to the pill in that you have to wait for your body to regulate itself etc. So we will have to keep each other posted with progress, see when we each get AF after coming off those hormones!

Hi Millymolly01, welcome! Of course you can join! There are quite a few of us so you may need to read the threads and catch up but i think most of us have only recently started TTC number 2 or not been TTC for long anyway! I have just come off the pill, like you, although i had my last bleed end August/beginning of this month. You never know how long it is going to take, do you? Can i ask you Millymolly01, have you had a period since you stopped taking the pill in June? I was on the 7 day break and normally would have taken the pill (on day 8) last weds but didn't take it so i think that means i have been off the pill for a week? Unless you include the 7 day break but i don't think you do as i think you are still protected for that week. Do you have a boy or a girl?

mrsm22 wow were in really similar situations and I am a mrs m too!!

I almost wish I hadn't researched quite so much as now I feel like a crazy symptom watcher, and its far too early for that. I'm not quite sure what's going on at the moment, I had a tiny bleed the day after the implant came out which I'm told is to be expected, but this afternoon I've had a small bleed too! Cramping etc with this one so could be start of period or could just be implant removal bleed, no idea!

Millymolly01 · 11/09/2013 20:06

Mrs m22- thanks, I've been catching up and it's nice to see I'm not alone! Yes I have had a period each month but they have been very light, not too sure if they are proper periods yet but I think I'm ovulating. You count the first day of your period as cd1 but I think when you first come off the pill it's a withdrawal bleed so I think you count your first pill free day as day 1 but if anyone knows different I would be corrected! I have a daughter already :)

I came off the mini pill 3 days ago, ds is 8.5 months andstill bf although daytime feeds have reduced quite a bit and twice at night, wondering how long it'll be beforethe pill effect wears off - nnot long as mini pill is small dose anyway?

Nobloomingideapgornot · 12/09/2013 08:05

Hey guys
TTC num 2 here..ds is 5 and just started school.

I'm 25 days since last period started, think I ovulated and we did the DTD about 7/8 days ago, 48 hrs ago I had a light pink discharge and cramps for about two hours and then it stopped.
My boobs feel huge and I'm bloated, had some cramps but I also get these a week before AF.
Have been feeling a bit nauseous and I have lost weight and my appetite has sunk as I just feel so full.
Have POAS three times now but nothing..bfn
Have no idea how long my cycles are as haven't really taken much notice lol. It just happens whenever!!
So not long to go before AF arrives or nothing...

I'm not the most patient but with Ds it was very obvious after 2 weeks I was pregnant and felt pretty much the same as I do now...

Good luck all!!

Metalhead · 12/09/2013 08:55

Windywinston any further bleeds or anything? Sorry my message is a bit late as I'm on holiday at the moment, but I think your "early AF" might well have been implantation. I had it with DD and thought my AF had arrived, only to get a BFP 2 days later! (I got suspicious when the bleeding stopped after one night)

The reason why you tested negative before could be that your hormone levels aren't high enough to be picked up yet, as I understand it it can take around 5-7 days for home pregnancy tests to turn positive after implantation. Fingers crossed for you!

I've been trying not to symptom spot this month, though it's been tough as I've been feeling quite queasy and had some light cramps and backache the last couple of days... AF is probably due early next week, so we shall see. I don't really think we DTD at the right time this month though, so not holding out too much hope. Off to the hairdresser now to take my mind off things!

mrsm22 · 12/09/2013 09:37

BetterNotBitter - We are in very similar situations. It's nice to have another MrsM on here too! I'm still waiting and wondering when I will have a period....my gp said anything from 3 weeks to 3 months so who knows? I am also really bad for googleing symptoms etc, but i did that last time and fell pregnant when i least expected it and wasn't thinking about it. For me, my periods were quite irregular, i think every 7 or 8 weeks so when i came off the pill (after about 12 years at the age of 16) i didn't have a period for months which i think is pretty normal if you have come off either the pill or implant! Then i think i had one bleed and that was it, i was pregnant but i had no idea as it had been 7 weeks since i had had the last bleed, so i was 7 weeks pregnant when i found out IYSWIM but i had no ideas as i was always 7 or 8 weeks between each period. You and I could even be pregnant now and not even know! Let us know if you have any more bleeding today as could then be start of AF but if not could be a 'show' which i had one night when i was pregnant and it is a sign that you are!

mrsm22 · 12/09/2013 09:38

Millymolly01 - I think when you come off the pill, your periods can be a lot lighter, especially if you have been on it for a long time. I have been off the pill for a week and a day so when do you think I will get my AF?

OP posts:
mrsm22 · 12/09/2013 09:39

Utopian99 - I think the pill is out of your system within just a few days. That is what I have read and my gp said it is out straight away. The mini pill is not as effective as the main pill too.

mrsm22 · 12/09/2013 09:43

Nobloomingideapgornot - Hello and welcome! Those symptoms sound quite possible? I never had any sickness or nausea at all when i was pregnant with my DS, no morning sickness whatsoever. I was very lucky as i've heard that is not vetry nice, i just felt very tired and looked quite pale and my boobs were enormous, hey grew so quickly. In fact I remember being sat in the bath one day and my DH said i was pregnant, he could tell apparantly by my boobs (they go veiny). Good luck and let us know how you get on!

How is everyone else?

OP posts:
BetterNotBitter · 12/09/2013 11:31

Morning everyone, well almost afternoon! How is everyone today?

mrsm22 no more bleeding since last night, it was just a very small amount yesterday & the day before, but I mean tiny. Cramps have gone. So no period but I'm sure I can't possibly be pregnant yet either. Think it's just hormonal weirdness as a result of implant removal!

Would just like to have a normal cycle so we know where we're working!

nobloomingidea sounds like a lot of symptoms! When is your period due? Hopefully not long & it won't co,e!

metalhead it's so hard not to symptom spot!!

Millymolly01 · 12/09/2013 12:14

Mrsm22- if your cycle is 28 days, af should turn up on or around wed 2nd x that's interesting about pill. I'm glad I'm normal then :)

donnas1984 · 12/09/2013 12:15

hi late to joint!

Good luck everyone xx
(new to this so sorry if any abbreviations are wrong!)

mrsm22 · 12/09/2013 13:09

Good afternoon everyone!

I'm stuck at work, well on my lunch but i'm off tomorrow so all good.

BetterNotBitter - Feel totally the same as you, will be happy just to have a period and know things are back to normal. Hate all that waiting!

Thanks to Millymolly01 - so i'm looking at 2nd October for possible AF? I was around 7/8 weeks before so you could be right. It's DH's birthday that day too so i won't forget. Fingers crossed then!

Hi Donnas1984 - welcome to the party of TTC number 2! You'll see that there are now lots of us. Is Nexplanon an implant? I agree, time does fly by. My DS will be 2 in December, so similar age to your DD. I'm sorry it took you a long time last time. Hopefully much quicker for you this time. Are you taking your Pregnacare or folic acid?

In fact, is everyone taking supplements?

OP posts:
donnas1984 · 12/09/2013 13:39

mrsm22 - Yes Nexplanon was the newer verson of the Implanon Inplant, I could go months with no bleeding then it could come along for 5-6 weeks! Total nightmare Grrr!
Ive been taking folic acid and a multi vitamin for about 4/5 weeks since we decided to get the implant removed. Seems different this time around as I have the wee one to look after I cant spend all my time geting obsessed so fingers crossed it happens sooner!
Must admit I have bought a 3 month supply of OPK's didnt work for me the last time but hey ho ill give them another try!

mrsm22 · 12/09/2013 15:58

Hi Donnas1984, I too have a little one to look after so I know what you mean. I'm not getting stressed about it. I really want to get pregnant soon and I am an impatient person but I am happy with my DS and am trying to take a more laid back approach to it. Would be great if it happens by xmas for all of us. Thanks for explaining about the implant.

OP posts:
BetterNotBitter · 12/09/2013 17:38

Wow donnas1984 I had my nexplanon removed the same day as you and had the same awful problems with massively long bleeds then none for months etc while I was on it! My little girl will be 2 in January!

I'm taking folic acid, but I have coeliacs disease so I have to take a much bigger dose than most people so its a prescription. Just started taking it last week when I had the implant removed.

donnas1984 · 12/09/2013 19:11

Bitternotbetter how are you feeling now you're off it? I have had the worst headache for the past 3 days and have sore boobs and cramp but no bleeding as yet. My friend came off nexplanon and never got AF she is now 25weeks! Doubt ill be that lucky!
I have a family member who has coeliacs I hope your keeping well xx

donnas1984 · 12/09/2013 19:14

I got your name wrong sorry!

BetterNotBitter · 12/09/2013 20:43

donnas1984 I had a tiny bleed hours after it was removed, then felt fine. Yesterday & day before (days 5&6 after removal) I had awful cramps, fatigue, backache & very slight bleeding.

Still have achey back & light cramps but seem to be better today.

I just wish I could understand where my cycles at. Wasnt going to go down the ovulation testing route but think I might have to if period doesn't appear!

Kt1991 · 12/09/2013 20:55

Hey guys not posted on here since my first post, been ill all week with cold/sore throat so there was no chance of DTD this week Sad. AF due this weekend too so not feeling particularly good Sad have had few cramps for on and off over a week now though so still keeping my fingers crossed! Loads of friends are announcing 1st and 2nd pregnancies this week too so hoping that could be me soon.

lucyjojo · 12/09/2013 20:55

Hello, can I join please? I'm ttc#2, been trying since July, so not very long at all really but already its turned me into an obsessive maniac! I am very impatient, and it happened pretty much straight away with my DD so I'm hoping it won't take too long. My DD will be 2 in November, and I would like another before she turns 3, but you can't really plan these things at all can you! Has anyone who's joined this thread had any definite BFPs?

Pencilsandprams · 12/09/2013 21:02

Hello ladies, I am currently on 9DPO and going utterly bonkers. So just wanted to offload and check in to see how everyone else is?

I can't stand this bit, just waiting, waiting, waiting and knowing you could be on the brink of AF showing up. I'm symptom spotting like crazy, going to the loo every hour just so I can check whether AF is here yet, googling every temperature fluctuation etc etc. Gahhh....wish I could just relax and go with the flow!

I know we DTD enough / at the right time in theory, but I'm still feeling a bit pessimistic.

x

SoMuchFruit · 12/09/2013 21:24

Hi Ladies, hope everyone is well.

AF got me yesterday. I knew she was coming but she was 4 days early Angry didn't see that coming. I just assumed she'd show up on Sunday as expected.

Anyway, new and radical plan for this coming cycle. DH is game (His words ; 'Let's bring the rain' Grin ) so the idea is.. DTD every 2nd day from 16th (when I assume AF will be gone) until 21st then 22/23/24 every day then again 26/27 and 29/30/1

This is because my cycles are a bit more random than I thought and have varied between 27 and 34 days all this year so this will hopefully cover all the fertile days of all of the variations.. I think, according to frenzied calculations and googling.

It'll be exhausting fun so I hope it pays off.

utopian99 · 13/09/2013 06:23

Every second day sounds like a bit winner! No idea what my cycle is or if I'm even fertile yet, having only come off the pill earlier this week but would like to avoid AF altogether if possible.
How would you know when to test though?
