Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

1000 replies

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

Evening all, impressed by people's willpower... I have been considering pos after about 7 days, although I read an article earlier about the number of early positives then losses which is being me hold my nerve! Although hungry you are not helping, I have a mild cold and sicky feeling, I neeeeeed to stop ssing! Blush

Welcome Ruth, glab and falli - let's how this is a lucky thread for us all!

So who was up earliest? I was half 5 which I thought was OK! How things change... Shock

lelly78 · 27/10/2013 21:05

And gl toothpaste! Grin

HungryHorace · 27/10/2013 21:31

Mild cold, lelly? That was one of my symptoms with DD less than helpful

I'm going to despair if it doesn't happen this month. Surely DTD 8 days out of 10 should be enough?!

IBelieveInEngels · 28/10/2013 07:29

Half 5 lelly !

I heard DS get out of his bed at 6.30 but we had closed his door and he couldn't open it so he got back into bed for another hour (we've just taken the side off the cot as he's worked out how to climb out). He did better this morning - didn't hear a peep from him until 7.30, though he was WILD yesterday! Reckon he could tell there was a storm coming!

Finally got my trainers back on yesterday to train for my race in 3 week's time. Did just over 10k and felt pretty good - love running in the wind and rain once I'm out there - but ache like no one's business this morning.

Feeling impatient to ttc (especially after reading everyone's posts) but I have to wait for AF...hurry up!

lucyjojo · 28/10/2013 09:23

Ooh toothpaste like you haven't POAS yet!!!
You're all going to hate me for saying this.....my DD is still asleep Blush. She is an unbelievably good sleeper, it hasn't always been that way though! I think she takes after DH and myself, we sure do love sleeping.
Impressed by the running IBelieve, 10k, that is amazing. hopefully it will help take your mind off of ttc for a bit...but then do you just think about it the whole time you are running?! I find driving to and from work the worst time for me to obsess about it. I wasn't too bad yesterdayas DH was home so we had a nice family day, and he's off until friday now so hopefully I can give myself a break from constantly thinking about it.
Oh Hungry I really hope it's your month too,but as my DH loves to keeps reminding me, we can't do anymore than we are already doing. then i give him a slap for being so sensible
Ha lelly, i picked up some pg tests from home bargains yesterday, 3 for 79p, just so I could go POAS crazy!!!
How is everyone coping with the storm? It seems to have past us by....

mrsm22 · 28/10/2013 12:04

Hi ladies! Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I've been feeling on and off a bit sickly and you'll all call mental mrs but on Saturday I couldn't help myself but buy another test and yes another BFP (I must have about 8 sticks now all saved up in the cupboard )! I'm finding I'm absolutely starving all the time and just going off things and not knowing what to eat, I was like this last time. If the doctor is right, this is my week 7. I'm seeing the midwife next weds and am looking forward to that, will hopefully make it feel more real.
Lucy - how are you? Thank you , I hope you're right with your prediction. I'd love another boy ! But obviously healthy is all that matters really. X
Hi Hungry - are you waiting to poas or are you going to give in and do one?
Welcome to all the newbies and best of luck to all of you. We need another BFP!

Hi ladies, I'm new on here but could really do with some advice. I made a thread but didn't get anywhere with that so hope you don't mind me joining in on this one. I'm 37 and bf and I have just decided that we would like a baby (after years of saying we wouldn't, must be age or something!). I already have a daughter of 17, but this will be his first. The trouble is for the past two years I have been undergoing different tests for my awful periods. I'd been on the pill since age of 23 but 2 years ago they switched me from marvelon to cerrazette. This is where the problems began. I bled for weeks at a time, but carried on with it on the advice that it takes a while to get used to. Turning point came when I had a period that lasted for 5 months, couldn't take it anymore, so they gave me a new pill to try. It was just the same :-( Still persevered with that one for a while, but didn't improve. In January this year I decided to stop taking pill altogether. Now I have periods that last for 3 weeks and I only get a 10 day break between. I've been living like this since jan. I had lots of tests..as I've had lots of LLETZ treatments in past, my doc sent me to the rapid access clinic to check me out for cervical cancer and ovarian cancer. I've had blood tests and scans and more recently had an op to remove a polyp that they saw on one of the scans..unfortunately when they got in there they couldn't find it! Sorry if I'm boring you all but I'm really wondering if it is even worth trying to conceive. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? If I do manage to conceive, will I be plagued with problems? After my op, my surgeon said I had an abnormal shaped womb and he was surprised my first child wasn't born breech... Please can someone help. I feel like crying..

Toothpastekissesno2 · 28/10/2013 12:44

Hi lilli I'm sorry that all sounds like a nightmare. I have no knowledge or experience of anything like this. Sounds like u need a suck it and see approach? I have a friend on other end of scale who doesn't get any periods and is preg with her second! Goodluck.
Lucy my dh is the same. Veeeery calm. I'm the opposite! Still no af and no af symptoms. But definite nausea if I don't eat...god waiting til thurs is hard. I don't want to do it before as want to believe whatever result but I don't want to build up to a massive disappointment. Keep mentally slapping myself round the face in a don't get your hopes up way!
I can understand your nervousness mrs I think I will be the same if/when happens! So how many people testing in coming week - as long as the evil af stays away?!

IBelieveInEngels · 28/10/2013 12:47

Very Envy at DD still sleeping at 9.30 lucy ! I found that I was thinking about everything but ttc yesterday while running - a lot of thinking about my novel for NaNo this year (though still nowhere near ready to get started on Friday!) and the Christmas show at school that I'm in charge of. Just heard some sad news that a good friend has had complications at her 22 week scan and so has to go up for further tests in London Sad Puts everything in perspective.

You've reminded me to order some more pg tests Mrs - I have a stack of opks but only 2 tests - I'll be needing them in December!

Lilliana I'm sorry to hear you've been having so many problems with periods and ttc. I really don't have any advice except go back to a specialist to talk through options. You sound at the end of your rope and that's understandable. You need to find out what your options are, and whether you'll need help to conceive. Good luck.

KatoPotato · 28/10/2013 12:47

Hoping I can join... Just been to GP for a referral to get my Mirena removed! Not sure how long the process is going to take, but I'm very excited.

DS will be 4 in January, and as I never knew I was having him until I was 22 weeks (!) It will be strange to actively 'TTC'

IBelieveInEngels · 28/10/2013 12:49

Btw lilliana where did you post your other thread? You could try posting in infertility to see if you get any more responses, and bump your other thread to get it back into active convos.

Lillianna76 · 28/10/2013 12:57

Thanks girlies..I'm moping a bit at the moment (time if the month..at least I've always got that as an excuse, lol) We haven't actually started trying as yet so I guess I should give it a chance..it's not easy with only 10 days between periods AND we don't even live together!! Thank you for letting me join in anyway :-)

HungryHorace · 28/10/2013 14:10

Hi all. So much restraint in this thread. I'm very impressed with you all!

Mrs, I can't POAS yet as there's no point until at least 10 DPO and I'm only 3-4 DPO today. Cracking headache though today and more ovary pain. :-/

Lilli, I'm dirty but I also can't help. I do know that LLETZ can cause a shortened cervix which could require a stitch in pregnancy, but I don't know about conception problems. I agree that the infertility board may help though. But welcome here too!

utopian99 · 28/10/2013 14:50

Not much restraint here, hungry - am now just poas once a week for no reason other than because I have a wodge of them from off t'interweb and still no af. Obviously if it was anything but bfn every time I'd tell.you all!

HungryHorace · 28/10/2013 14:51

Dirty?! Sorry!

IBelieveInEngels · 28/10/2013 14:52

Grin hungry

HungryHorace · 28/10/2013 16:33

Ultimate autocorrect fail there, IBelieve! Blush

IBelieveInEngels · 28/10/2013 16:45

I thought you were saying that you couldn't help being dirty Grin

Don't worry, according to the British media it's a common problem with MN users Smile

donnas1984 · 28/10/2013 16:57

Lilli Hi, I had LLETZ twice and had my cervix cauterised numerous times before my dd whos almost 2 but have luckily had no more problems I hope things turn round for you soon.
How is everyone else? I've got the mw a week on friday but waiting desperately for my scan. I'm so sick and have a pot belly Sad my dh keeps saying there's 2 in there!

donnas1984 · 28/10/2013 16:58

also hi to all the newbies didnt mean to miss anyone out just had something slightly in common with Lilli xx
Lets get some more bfps!

Windywinston · 28/10/2013 17:56

I'm with you there Donna. I had to get dh to make me toast in the middle of the night because I couldn't stop being sick because I was hungry :-( my sickness is getting worse rather than better, but I'll feel happier once I've had the scan I'm sure. Got a scan on 11 nov - yay!!!

I've also bloated massively, I have a bump already but I got to 4 or 5 months last time before resorting to maternity wear. Apparently the 2nd often shows sooner.

Welcome to all newbies, may this thread bring you as much luck as it did me.

utopian99 · 28/10/2013 20:59

I've heard a second shows faster too..

Ds has been really clingy in the night recently and we're wondering if it coincides with me night weaning to try to kick start oving. Have decided with dh to ditch it and have a happy ds now and slightly bigger gap if that's the result, rather than sad and unsettled ds, so back to no strategy and Just Shagging more or less, until AF returns.

I think I've calmed down a bit although I would have liked a small gap. (Plus any excuse for general shaggery is good to me. Classy bird that I am.)

Will be interested to hear how everyone's pgs are progressing though!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 28/10/2013 22:55

Hello everyone - old and new.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I've been snowed under with work and a big family birthday. Lots of fun, but very tiring.

I have news though... no, not that Wink, but a start... DH has agreed to start properly TTC Grin Grin Grin so there's been lots of DTD and a very happy me. I think it was seeing so many pregnant friends that convinced him, so now we just have to hope it happens soon.

He is confident as ever: "You're probably already pregnant. I have super sperm". Erm...

HungryHorace · 29/10/2013 08:04

Ha! I'm glad that he's come round to the idea, ATruth. And that he's confident in his swimmers' abilities! :-)

5DPO here. My god, the 2WW is bloody slow. Last night DD was paying close attention to my belly and stroking / pawing at it. Not something she's done before. But I'm not sure I should read anything into it! 4 month old as POAS substitute?!

Awww, utopian, you're doing the right thing for your DS. And it doesn't mean it won't happen now. It just means you'll have more fun trying without all the stressing of TTC with a vengeance!

It's still windy here today and a bit grim. Not sure I'll be heading out anywhere. But my aim for this week is to teach DD to self settle during the day. She does it at night but won't for naps. This could be fun :-/

Adp007 · 29/10/2013 08:08

Hi, I'm new too. Currently first month of trying for #2. After first, we found out OH family carried BRcA1 cancer gene so waited for the all clear before considering another. Thankfully OH doesn't carry it so we will hopefully be welcoming another LO very soon! Good luck everyone xx
