Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

Hi. DS is 10 months old, and I'm pregnant now with #2. It took me nearly 2 years to conceive DS, and two weeks for this one! First AF after having DS too. I'm still in shock.

Stacks · 26/10/2013 16:39

Oh, and DH and I are both 32 (I think.. 1981, lol).

mrsm22 · 26/10/2013 19:07

Hi Lelly - I turned 32 last month and my DH is also 32. Our DS will be 2 on the 28th December. All these Xmas time babies!
Hi hungry - typed out a message earlier but it wouldn't send. Thanks for the cake recipe. Must try that out. DS has been tired out today and hurt his finger too so been very out of sorts. I'm just putting him to bed so I can think about tea for myself. DS has gone to bed with no tea as he was so tired and throwing himself on the floor in a state. I'm starving, have treated myself to a naughty pastry for after tea x

Well what a pleasure to read these messages, you must forgive me if I am less active in the week as at work ft but this is nice to read with Wine

Dh and I are both 35 (well I am on Halloween!) we have DS who is 10 months and I have secretly been going to get pg since about 4 months, po about 1000 sticks! Can't remember the names yet but it doesn't seem indecent haste to me [blushConfused

I have had 2 vague cycles but might have ov'd in Monday so think I will test indecently early on my bdayGrin you lot taking about waiting till 5 th made me gap at your patience!

lelly78 · 26/10/2013 19:34

So hungry not too quick in my eyes and stacks you are my heroine!

I am on my phone, how do I make your names go bold?

utopian99 · 26/10/2013 19:53

Stars either side of the word lelly

I am 31 and ds is 10 months tomorrow. Oh and dh is 30 (i am the older woman!)
Like the idea of indecent haste re TTC.. Sounds like you're planning on nipping off into a broom cupboard.

Frankly am rather wishing we'd started at 6 months, as per original plan now..

HungryHorace · 26/10/2013 20:30

We might as well have done with some of our efforts, utopian! :-)

And DH is 34 this year, so I'm seriously the older woman.

lucyjojo · 26/10/2013 20:50

Hi lelly I am 27, DH is 28, DD will be 2 in two weeks! we are on cycle 4 and getting a bit desperate Confused
Donna DD was born 8/11 so very close to your DD! It is hard being close to xmas, one of my nieces was born early Dec and it feels very full on with presents and parties! I'm very lucky; my birthday is mid June so I'm a perfect balance between christmas and birthday Grin. definately like the sound of a mid year birthday for the dec babies, I usually make DD a little cupcake at the 6 month mark, think it will be nice for them to have a mini celebration, my mums birthday is 2 weeks afer xmas and she has always hated it, especially as the weather is always rubbish. sorry if I am a bit waffly tonight, I am super tired after being up crazy early and at work all day. Don't think any millionaires shortbread will be made tonight, luckily I bought a choccy orange yesterday so will have to give that to my friend instead!!
So what date is everyones AFs due? When do you think you will be testing? I am going to go to home bargains tomorrow to pick up some very cheap ones, and definately possibly do a test on friday 1st. we got invited to a party today for next saturday so will be nice to know if i can have a drink or not!!

HungryHorace · 26/10/2013 21:59

I think I'm probably due on 8 / 9 Nov with a 29 or 30 day cycle as I OV'd on CD15 or 16.

The earliest I can test is 3rd, which is 10 DPO if I OV'd on CD 15.

I'm hoping the omen is good as I OV'd on CD 15 or 16 the cycle I got pregnant with DD. I'd had a 34 day cycle the one prior too, like this time. :-)

Soooo...do I test on 5th and potentially ruin my birthday?! I tested positive at 10 / 11 DPO last time, and this would be 11 / 12 DPO.

Can you tell I've thought about this a bit lot ?

I've been really crampy today too. Still am a bit. :-/

Kt1991 · 26/10/2013 22:50

lucy I'm testing same day as you with an IC! AF due 31st, but no idea still when I ovulated so may still be too early, if not will leave it till the following Friday, which will probably end up being earlier cause I'm too impatient lol. I hate symptom spotting but I've deffo been doing it the last couple of days, so will be very frustrated if it does turn out to be AF Angry

Kt1991 · 26/10/2013 22:52

hungry if you have some Ics laying around do one of those on the 5th! Fingers crossed!

lucyjojo · 26/10/2013 23:12

Ahh I HATE symptom spotting, every month I tell myself I won't do it. But then, do, obviously. I have been feeling quite nauseous today. and also quite crampy too Hungry. But then I was like this last month and got a big bfn, so who knows why i felt sick so often! Probably stress over wanting to get pg! I wish men could do this too, I mentioned to my DH today that I was noticing every little symptom, and he told me to stop reading into things so much, that what will be will be. He is so relaxed and rational about it, it would take him no time to get fertilized!!!!!

HungryHorace · 26/10/2013 23:18

I felt sick earlier, Lucy, but it's far too early to have symptoms, let alone spot them!

And I have plenty of ICs, Kt, I just don't want my birthday to be overshadowed with a BFN. :-/

lucyjojo · 26/10/2013 23:56

A post i wrote has just disappeared... I never answered your question sorry hungry, as ouch as i would love you to join my poas party,if i were you i would just enjoy my birthday not knowing, like you say you dont want to ruin your day. But then to be the devil on your other shoulder, a bfn that early might not be a bfn! Im not feeling very pg,however that would feel, but then i didnt with DD. Hmm.

HungryHorace · 27/10/2013 01:30

It's a hard one, isn't it? I'd need amazing willpower to last til 6th, but it is the sensible thing to do! We shall see.

My early symptoms last time were being really hot in bed, a raging thirst overnight and a mild cold. None of which you'd say make you feel pregnant! Typically I've just woken up to feed DD boiling hot and thirsty. At 3 ish DPO. Step away from the symptom spotting!

Oh, and a new one which couldn't exist last time: my internal c section scarring aching, in a way it hasn't ever done before.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Lucy!

Falliwalli77 · 27/10/2013 08:20

Hi, can I join? I have 3 year old and would like to get pg by Christmas so that baby is here when she turns 4. I got pregnant in the first month with my daughter, was such a shock as I'd been on mini pill for 5 years and didn't even feel pregnant till I was 12 weeks. My labour wasn't great like mrsm2, I had ventouse and then forceps as ventouse broke down!! So I am feeling a bit anxious about next time, like you. I stopped taking the mini pill on 29th sept which was when my pd started, I haven't had any bleeding since had lower back pain, nausea and some cramping but think this has been due to stopping the pill. My pd is due today and nothing so far, had lower back pain yesterday (I don't usually get this) but don't know if this is my body putting its self right or the start of baby no 2. I am trying to not think about it but it's hard as I got pg very quickly ast time. Will see what happens over next couple of days and keep you posted. I hope you all have good news too.

TheBookofRuth · 27/10/2013 10:15

Hello, can I join in too? DD is 21 months and I've just got DH to agree that we can at least stop trying NOT to get pregnant, if you see what I mean. We were going to wait till after DD turned two, but I'm so broody I don't want to, plus I'm worried it's going to take a while. It took 18 months to conceive DD, and as I pointed out to DH, it's not like we've got more fertile since then - he's 38, and I've just turned 35.

So we're going to try Just Shagging and hope we get lucky - first time around it didn't happen till I started using OPKs and we had very precisely timed, not-very-fulfilling, highly-pressurised sex. I'd give anything to avoid that this time around!

HungryHorace · 27/10/2013 11:01

Hi Falli and Ruth :-)

This thread has been lucky so far. Fx it continues that way!

mrsm22 · 27/10/2013 11:44

Hi Falli and Ruth - welcome to our gang!
Falli - it is hard when you've not had a nice birth experience first time round, puts you off wanting to do it again in a hurry. I only got my BFP last Monday so it's still just sinking in for me but I'm over the moon and ready now for giving birth a second time as at the end of the day, I came through it and have a beautiful healthy baby boy to show for it. Good luck to both of you. As Hungry says, we've been lucky on here so far with 5 BFP's (hope that's correct Hungry) !

Glabella · 27/10/2013 12:26

I am ttc number 2, I am 25 and my dp is 23. I am excited but also terrified, my ex dh became abusive during my last pregnancy so it wasn't exactly a happy time, and although my new partner is amazing it has taken me a while to be ready to try for another. Dd is two and a bit and baby obsessed, so that has made me broody!

lucyjojo · 27/10/2013 13:17

Hello newbies! [waves] Always nice to have company on the quest to get knocked up!!
That doesn't sound very nice for you Glabella, hope you have a better experience this time.
Was it really only a week ago Mrsm?! I don't know why but I feel like you will be having another little boy Smile
Hungry not that I am symptom spotting with you but your symptoms sound interesting.....fx crossed for you too. Maybe Mrs' prediction will be right....if so can you predict it for me next please!!?
I have never noticed before how much cramp I get throughout the month until I started ttc.
Falli have you not POAS yet?
Good luck to you Ruth, pressure sex isn't much fun after a while is it!

HungryHorace · 27/10/2013 13:46

Hi Bella :-)

Falli, you do know that you HAVE to POAS immediately, don't you?!

Lucy, please don't encourage me! I feel properly crampy / weird internally. Must stop thinking about it. And you're POAS before me, so it's your turn next!

Falliwalli77 · 27/10/2013 15:46

Congrats mrsm22! I didn't realise, that's great news. I am ready for whats install, think that's why I haven't tried earlier and because I was enjoying my daughter. Feeling very broody though now and she keeps asking if she can have baby brother or sister. :)
Lucy and Hungry I have POAS, did it last week. Been feeling really impatient this month, so was dying to try but it was neg. I am tempted to try today but feel that I will leave it bit longer, if I can.

Toothpastekissesno2 · 27/10/2013 16:09

Hi a newcomers! So many people in same boat.u would think we would be more relaxed second time round but not so much!
Ruth I love the just shagging concept but I last about I week and then poas! I am having some symptoms too Lucy and hungry. But I had symptoms last month and was convinced I was and wasn't so I'm just ignoring. It's hard as due on about today and have had teeny bit of spotting but no af. Yet!! Hard to concentrate on work / life!
Ds has suddenly become mummy minded this weekend at inlaws. Never had that before! I had to hide for a rest!
Hope everyone is cosy inside away from the tornado!

HungryHorace · 27/10/2013 20:54

Spotting, toothpaste?!?! Another with implantation bleeding?

I do hope so. :-)
