We've almost filled the second thread so here is a new one, so we can carry on chatting! Threads #1 and #2 saw some stunning successes and some sad outcomes. We'll have more of the former and less of the latter on thread #3 please!

All comers welcome. I found it very useful to be with people going through the same thing when I did my first cycle, so if you would like to join us, please come on in!

Choco, I have seen Prof Quenby at uhcw. Gorgeous lady, very positive, very helpful.

Nk test plus scratch plus cobsultation costs £360.

Mine came back as 5.96 so only just over the 5 limit so I take 20mg prednisolone after transfer x

choco it's good to hear from you. It's strange to know you're at the Winterbourne!
What is it like there? The two nurses I've seen so far have been lovely and Mr Dooley is crazy but seems nice.
I read something a bit off putting so panicking now! Please be honest about your experiences.

Hang in there Tortie xxx

mejust well done on getting the hang of the injections.
tame try to stay positive and fingers crossed for darker line tomorrow.
buzzy fantastic news a out your hcg levels!! Can you tell me how you went about getting your progesterone levels checked? It seems like a critical part of the jigsaw so I don't want to miss out. How did they identify a problem in the first place?
Good news about your negative blood tests choco
Thanks for making me smile jewcy!
Hi to wish resipsa euro and nook
AFM I spent yesterday trying to fend off negative vibes from a 'friend' who clearly has a problem with me having IVF. I'm here for the weekend and can't escape easily so am going to have to go through it all again today. I have made a promise to myself that I won't see her again while I am going through treatment. Horrible.
Great to see the sun though! Enjoy your weekends all. X

buzzy thanks for your experiences, I thought you had to have 3 miscarriages before you could be referred to RMC. Our ivf is private as we weren't eligible on the nhs, and when I went to the gp about getting tests done after 2nd miscarriage she wasn't interested at all. I have looked on the pred thread before , will have another look. Hope you're ok this morning

euro that's interesting to hear about the effects that the corticosteroids can have re risk of cervical abnormalities, I'm not sure if I want to mess with my immune system either, but I've read a load of positive stories in Dr Beer's book on immunes

tame how are you today? That's interesting to know about your tests, I'm having the scratch next cycle, and that alone costs around £300! Did you have the 2 NK cell tests?

motor what a pain in the arse to have another day with that 'friend', that's all you need. Has she expressed what her problem is exactly?

wish hello, you're right, all the nurses are really, really lovely Grinand I've seen them a lot! Good summary of Mr Dooley, nice but crazy! Can you say on here what the off putting stuff you read was? The only thing with Mr Dooley is that he is very busy with him being in London too. He is a bit impulsive but pro active too. The only thing we were a bitHmm about was that after this egg collection he came in before the embryologist did and said that we had got 'eggs', when in fact we had one... The embryologist is a great guy too. The husband says one of Dooley's strengths is that he has assembled a great team around him. Feel free to ask me anything else. Are you local to the Winterbourne?

Another lovely, sunny day here

Choco- im just having breakfast in bed. No more bleeding this morning but no more testing either- those faint tests have messed my head up and I think id rather just be in ignorant bliss!!

The test with Prof Quenby was one nk test with a womb biopsy (scratch). If you google Siobhan Quenby implantation clinic, you can get all the details. I think she will have a consultation with you and ask you to give her a call when you ovulate in whatever cycle you want the test done. And then she will give you a bell when she has the results.

I dealt with her research fellow mostly but I found the whole team to be ultra nice and efficient and very encouraging.

Hi tame Smile at breakfast in bed. Well done for not doing any more tests. I've just been googling Prof Quenby and have read lots of positive stories. Our consultant will do the tests, but have to go to London for them anyway and they seem more expensive. Will have a think

wish I have done 2 cycles there now, and in fairness his being busy didn't impact on anything important when it came down to it. I still have confidence in them

Sorry! stupid phone!!

choco you're right about Mr Dooley being busy and I think that's why I have a bad feeling. Last time I saw him he said 'we'll do it this way because you don't have PCOS... Do you?' I was like 'uuummm yeah that's the whole issue'. So it knocked my confidence in him but at the same time I understand that he sees so many people its gotta be hard.

I'm happy to say what I read I just didnt want to panic others about the clinic just incase there were other ladies going there. It was an article about the top 10 worst clinics in uk and winterbourne was in there. To be fair it was 2007, doesn't mention Mr Dooley and there isn't anything about it since then so I'm taking that as a positive thing :)

Am in Wiltshire wish. I know what you mean, I would rather be late going in to appointment if it meant he'd read notes properly first! I read that old stuff too and I think a lot of it was due to the fact that they didn't used to be open at weekends. Everything I've read and seen since has been positive and to be fair, apart from consultation, ec and transfer you won't see him much - just the lovely nurses - who did you see?

Buzzy, I actually meant the flight on the way out there: I fly on the 9th and will have a last injection on the 10th, whilst I'm in Prague. Do you think I'll be okay with it in my hand luggage? Confused

Choco, yes, the name changing is due to tiresome questions about my Jewish heritage (Jewcy) and JuicyPair is to irritate the radical feminists Wink

I started the Prednisolone today. Please can I have stories of any negative side effects you ladies have experienced on this drug? I like to be prepared and if the enclosed leaflet is to be believed my head will be permanently in th'oven Hmm

motor they test your progesterone level when they do your HCG levels, when you get your BFP, ask your GP for the blood test. Tell your friend that what you need is support riht now not judgement, if she cannot support you through this then I would have to say she really isn't much of a friend, is it the whole 'playing god thing' or is a bit of jealousy and insecurity on her part, are you having a baby before her?? Can you leave early, you don'y want to be round negative people

choco I was 38 at the time so 'of a certain age' where they would test after two, I think if you were 35 or under you would have had to have had 3 miscarriages it shouldn't matter if you are NHS or private IVF, you need to go back to your GP and really push.Tell your GP what is the point in trying again if you are not sure why you are miscarrying, and NO it is not just bad luck, tell them how it emotionally and mentally affects you, it is your GP's job to refer you on, there are different levels of testing so the price will depend on that, I know clinic in Europe do the testing for less, I think Serum in Greece are pretty hot on immunes. I think on the pred thread they are mainly Shehata and Gorgy patients, babycentre website there seemed to be more prof q patients. I've heard good/bad things about them all so I suppose its about finding one that you feel happy with.

tamie when is OTD, glad the bleeding has stopped

we're off to look at Bluebells soon

OTD is not until Friday 31st but apparently nurture are notorious for very late OTD!!

Feel a bit more crampy and pre-af today- im going to forget about it all till I can get a very definite bfp. Faint lines are a head fuck. Am even wondering if the ovitrelle had hung around extra long in my system?

Motor- I agree with buzzy. Get out of there!!!

Report
buzzybee123 · 26/05/2013 12:09

when will it be two weeks from ET, I don't why clinics put OTD so far ahead, as if women in our position are going to wait an extra week to test Hmm I would be surprised if the trigger shot was still in your system at this stage, I would take it as a BFP, all you can do is test in a couple of days, I had cramping like af, what tests are you using??

juicy lucy ha I never thought about a jewish connection to the name I just thought it was your northern spelling Wink Yes you should be able to, make sure it is all wrapped up securely and take any paperwork with you from the clinic with the drug info on it for back up

Pred is the DEVILS DRUG end of !!!! I hate taking the fecking stuff hate with a with a passion. Yes take it as early as possible in the morning with food. I find it affects my sleep and my moods, I feel totally irrational more so than I normally am I find its like being on a buzz like you are wired and can't concentrate on anything, I've been on all sorts of weird and wonderful concoctions for my migraines over the years but nothing affects me like the steroids.

Although in saying that some women don't have any side affects, what dose are you on

she is American so alot cheaper to fly to Europe and do it, not sure about her age but I think similar to us, I assume her eggs are ok, its her second failed cycle,
I don't mean to put you off about the steroids, some women have no problems, I think the sleeping problem is getting a bit better, they are starting you early on the steroids for your cycle.

I've just stormed home from the park, leaving th'usband most bamboozled. I really don't see the point in being in boiling hot sunshine when you're not thin and your clothes are not beautiful. I understand how ansurd that sounds but it's exactly how I feel. I'm not even fat; I'm 'normal'. Surely the Prednisolone can't have kicked in already? I only took it two hours ago but I feel quite irrationally furious Confused
