Doff your top hats, lean on your canes, 'tis a Victorian Christmas for the BESH. Baste those turkeys in Victoria & Albert style, and maintain a stiff upper lip when you fill in the BESHtionnaire to see if you are cynical stoic enough to win a Baybee.

"I can't carry the ring, Mr Frodo. BUT I CAN CARRY YOU!"

"Actually I don't think I can. And not up a mountain. You're heavy."

TWinklyLittleStar · 14/01/2013 21:09

Yup draf tried to skim your freds but they made no sense to me. I feel enlightened. Don't think I'll join, I've not read any fanfic since my Babylon 5 days

Northey · 14/01/2013 21:14

Oh don't, rierie. AMNH spends half his life quoting from LOTR and gets very cross if I make rude comments about Frodo's ring and the Battle of Conkers Helms Deep.

EuroShagmore · 14/01/2013 21:15

LOTR is nowhere near as gay as Top Gun. I watched it again recently after a gap of several years. It is sooooooooooo homoerotic. Particularly the locker room scene. If there wasn't an orgy of bumming after filming that, I would eat my own hat.

maamalady · 14/01/2013 21:20

I don't believe for a minute that Tom Cruise isn't gay - he just isn't that good an actor...

Twink, you're welcome to say hello, we try to translate a bit for newbies! You lot were massively intimidating at first, but look at me now corrupting you all Grin

Last time we watched LOTR (the last one) with friends we were all making gay comments, including adlibbing lines, such as "er, just go round again, guys" to the eagles when they get rescued, as clearly Frodo and Sam were a little busy at that point...

maamalady · 14/01/2013 21:21

Babylon 5 though, really?! And here I thought Trek was the height of geekiness! Grin

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 14/01/2013 21:21

Top Gun is the gayest non-porn film in history - fact! HWHNN told me I had ruined the film for him by pointing out all the homoerotic stuff Grin

TWinklyLittleStar · 14/01/2013 21:25

Tom Thumb is at the top of my Hollywood shitlist at the moment, for what he did to Jack Reacher. Shameful.

Anyway I am going to bed. HWCA is at work until midnight so precious little chance of a shag again tonight, no baybee win for me this month :(

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 14/01/2013 21:37

Oh alright, I'll give you Top Gun. All those oiled, bronzed biceps and white towels...

maamalady · 14/01/2013 21:37

I quite liked Jack Reacher - thought they did well with what they had. But then, I've not read the books so no preconceptions other than knowing he should have been twice the size.

Tom Cruise has yet to improve on Interview With The Vampire. Minority Report was okay though, and he proved that he has a sense of humour with Tropic Thunder - the credits were amazing.

Ladies, I go out for an evening, and I come back to chat of moist, Pi-anus (or some similar town in Cornwall) and draff outing herself and the author of the next 50 shades... (will the BESH get a cut?)

For those not on 't'other place, I got the job! Just got to sort out the notice etc.

But this does place a few issues in the place of TTC. This will require some thought...

FriendofDorothy · 14/01/2013 23:10

Heh evilgiraffe you linked to a video by ate Mister's all time favourite artist. Great ding though!

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 15/01/2013 07:05

Well done Sinky, take your time to think things through but do what is best for you.

Northey · 15/01/2013 07:31

Congratulations, clever sinky!

I am crampy today. God knows why. CD18 so possibly ovulation. Though in that case what on earth was the spotting on CD13?

Northey · 15/01/2013 07:33

Blimey, we're at 966 already. So is it hard boiled eggs and so on for a Famous Five extravaganza next? Who's doing it? rie, I think it was your idea, wasn't it?

SinkyMalinks · 15/01/2013 07:43

You know, despite best intentions in the first page or two, we never stick to feem very well...

maamalady · 15/01/2013 07:45

Dot, Jonathan Coulton is just great, isn't he? We saw him play in Shepherds Bush a couple of years ago, great stuff.

Well done Sinks!

SinkyMalinks · 15/01/2013 08:43

Oh, forgot before - all this b*y d*t talk up fred. In my head I was trying to work out what it meant. Bloody dick/twat... ? (well, it was midst rude word chatter)

Oh no. Baby dust.

Let's never speak this again.

FriendofDorothy · 15/01/2013 09:19

The Mister is a big Jonathan Coulton fan. I am a huge Paul and Storm fan. We went to see them in London lady year at the Union Chapel in London. AmAzing. My inner geek got a good airing that day!

maamalady · 15/01/2013 09:29

Paul and Storm are hilarious - I challenge anyone not to laugh at the seamen song Grin

EuroShagmore · 15/01/2013 10:36

Morning hags.

Well the kitten went to another home. The breeder just emailed me. I'm a bit sad, but we just couldn't make up our minds. TBH I'm such a hormonal mess at the moment, I can't decide between tea and coffee so deciding to commit to up to 20 years of cat ownership this week was a big ask. I'm not sure what is going on but since the weekend I have had diabolical PMT. I am grumpy as hell and just feel awash with hormones. I used to get PMT like this a few years age, but it had eased off. Meh. And now I want to cry about the missed kitty.

Northey · 15/01/2013 10:47

Poor euro. There will be another little blue kitten at some point if you want one, and you are right that if you are in a bit of a state it is probably more sensible to wait. Not least because you might need the flexibility to go on more luxury holidays of consolation.

An even fiver says you now go totally mental and buy a mongrelly little tabby off gumtree on the way home from work Wink

Disclaimer: I don't actually know what "an even fiver" means, but someone said it in a Jilly Cooper novel, so it must mean something.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 15/01/2013 11:01

New fred - here. I realise it's a bit premature, but I have to go away for a couple of days in the next hour or so. Hopefully it's up and away by the time I get back.
