Congratulations Calibee! So pleased for you. There's good support from the 40+ pregnancy thread, come & join us xxx

JBrd · 13/12/2012 09:07

Sorry, just saw that you've already told him! Best Christmas present ever, IMO

notsoold · 13/12/2012 09:24

Excellent news Calibee....what a Xmas this will be for you and Mr Calibee xxx

littlepinkfizz · 13/12/2012 10:09

Wow calibee that news is so so so fantastic and gives us all so much hope.

So happy for you and hoping it will make being away from DP a little easier! I managed to conceive ds 21 mths now with my DP far away and only seeing him every other w\e. that's why I have really stopped all the opk's and cm checking. I didn't stress then because there was no point. We just shagged out of love a d lust! Just like you!so happy for you xxxxx

Xmas Grin
hopefulgum · 13/12/2012 10:15

OMG, Calibee, that's wonderful news. I am so happy for you. How many days post ovulation are you? What lovely news for you and DP. I think it just shows test results ( the progesterone) doesn't mean anything. You obviously did ovulate Xmas Smile

Another BFN for me this afternoon. I have been having cramping today, which is unusual pre AF for me. Of course I want to think it is implantation cramping, but perhaps it is a bit late at 10 dpo? I even had to take some ibuprofen for the cramps. I guess it isn't definitely over yet, but with my lower temps, I am trying to be accepting.

TinaO99 · 13/12/2012 10:20

wow congratulations Calibee what a wonderful christmas present for you and your dh Xmas Smile I also used the OPK's as a cheap way to test during my 2ww and got a positive so they do work sometimes!

Gum doesn't sound like it's all over for you yet, crossing my fingers for you!

I can report that I bought my first few bits of maternity clothes yesterday after strggling to get into some of my work clothes and jeans. I've been really superstitious about buying anything yet but as I'm now in my second trimester I've started to feel a little more confident.

Actually feeling pretty good at the moment too, no sickness to report just the dreaded constipation lol

woollywomble · 13/12/2012 10:20

Yaaayyy! That's fantastic news CaliBee Flowers, what a lovely Christmas present!

remnant · 13/12/2012 10:25

calibee! how fantastic! This is very nice news to reading. Hope all goes very well x

CaliBee · 13/12/2012 12:05

Thankyou all for being so lovely Thanks
I think it may take a while to sink in. I cant wait for DP to come home now...next Wednesday or Thursday hopefully.
I called the fertility clinic earlier as I was supposed to let them know when my period started so that they could see if the progesterone blood was taken on the wrong day.....they seemed genuinely thrilled. I guess it also helps them statistically....first month on clomid, 40+ and all that. They also asked me if I wanted to cancel my follow up appointment next May....I said no-way, I'm under no illusions that things may well go wrong but as jbrd said earlier, for now I will just enjoy the lovely feeling.
hopeful I'm 13dpo today so got definate positives at 12dpo and a hint of a hint of a shadow at 10-11dpo. The internet sticks are still really only showing a faint faint line even with FMU...I'm glad I spent the money on the clearblue.

wylie05 · 13/12/2012 13:21

Thats wonderful news Calibee ! Really pleased for you!

Still a lurker here. I have been reading every day. Hope all are well and looking forward to Christmas.

My AF is 2 weeks late. Have done 3 FR tests all neg. Probably annovulatory cycle? Who knows! Am off to doctors in morning to see what she thinks. I refuse to buy any more tests as too stressful. Added bonus of having to fly to NZ on Saturday - just me and DD, as DH on a FIFO til 3 Jan. I am staying with In laws but I don't know them that well, nice though they are. Am a little anxious as never flown by myself. I am the sort of person who just turns up at the airport and leaves travel arrangements to friends and family!! Let's hope I get on the right plane!

Morien · 13/12/2012 13:22

Brilliant news, calibee, congratulations!

remnant · 13/12/2012 17:34

So calibee, apart from having a virile young partner, what is your secret?
Are you taking any supplements, drinking special tea or anything?
Any tips much appreciated x

CaliBee · 13/12/2012 17:47

Lol @Remnant.....I have no idea.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the Clomid, however yes the sex was good and I hope that doesnt change. From what I can see I was doing what most of us were doing on here....taking pregnacare conception, I did take DHEA (Keto-7) for a couple of months late summertime....used a little preseed. We always had plenty of sex before DP went away so its ironic that things happened on the 2 days in the month when he was home the last time!!!!

hippychick66 · 13/12/2012 22:55

Calibee - wonderful news Grin

Irishmammybread · 13/12/2012 23:25

Hi everyone, I've just been trying to catch up and I see congratulations are in order!
A big welcome to the world for baby Finn and congrats to miasmum and mrmiasmum on the new arrival, I hope you're managing to get some sleep!
CaliBee ,how exciting, you must be both delighted with your BFP.
Great news that you've been matched with a donor Isabeller.

Sorry to hear what you've been through notsoold ,it's hard to have your hopes raised and then dashed.

Thank you all for your good wishes a few weeks ago and sorry to hear what other people are going through/have gone through with their parents too.
We had my FIL's funeral this week,a very sad occasion though a lovely service. DD1 is an altar server and served at the Mass. DD2 got very upset, I think it became more real for her when she actually saw the coffin so she didn't come to the graveyard and my brother looked after her instead. It's still hard to believe that FIL is gone, we're trying to support MIL as best we can and now get back to some sort of normality for the children.

I was contacted by the fertility team that analyse the data from my Duofertility monitor with a report on the four cycles I've been monitoring my temps. One of those I was pregnant and one was after miscarriage but they thought I seemed to be ovulating regularly though temps post ov weren't very high so they've suggested checking progesterone levels at d7 and 11po. I had an appointment with my GP and she's happy to have the bloods taken, but though she's very kind she's not particularly encouraging regarding my ttc!
I've had an appointment with the nurse for a long overdue cervical smear(I was called in for it in Jan but have been pregnant or recovering from miscarriage ever since). She had a miscarriage herself so is a lot more understanding, hers was also a surprise pregnancy after having three older children and she herself felt the need to try again. She conceived 6 mths later, in her early 40's and had her 4th baby. Her theory is that if you're still ovulating and having periods there's still a chance you can have a baby!
Having said that I'm now on d18 of my cycle and ovulation hasn't been confirmed yet, I've always seemed to ovulate about d14 apart from the cycles where I've miscarried. I did have ewcm about the right time but no temp shift, the ewcm got less though didn't quite go and then became copious again.Temp was up slightly yesterday and today, so I don't know if ovulation was delayed, maybe by stress? Has anyone else had anything similar?

An interesting point the nurse made was that a lot of people conceive soon after a cervical smear, she thinks it's because it removes some of the protective cells at the neck of the cervix that can be a barrier to sperm!

Irishmammybread · 13/12/2012 23:31

Hi gum !
Sorry I'm not sure how to cut and paste to insert my details, I normally get one of the kids to sort out technical things for me and I don't want to put them on mumsnet!
my details are ;age 44, DS19,DD1 13,DD2 9,three Mc this year at 11wks,6wks and 12wks.

greenlizard · 14/12/2012 07:24

hopeful any news yet? I am CD24 and 12DPO (or 6 DPO if we believe FF and not an OPK) and wondered what the relevance of your "lower temperatures" were? I am new to charting so was wondering if you see your temps drop before your AF or do they taper off? How would it look if were pregnant?

I know it is not technically over until AF turns up however as I am usually on a 26 day cycle, have spots on my chin, am feeling very emotional, very sensitive nipples (but not sore), been having AF style cramps last night and this morning, a change in the colour in CM , AND got another BFN when I tested FMU this morning would lead me to regrettably conclude that I am not pregnant and about to get my AF. Boo!

Irishmammy so sorry you have had such a tough year! I really hope there will only be good news for you in 2013. Sorry I can't help you with the temperature issue I had a +OPK on CD12 but no sustained shift in temp but a sustained shift at CD18 which has stayed above the cover line since. All a bit of a mystery! Maybe stress has affected your actual ovulation date. I have read that sometimes the egg doesn't get of the gate (so to speak) it can keep trying so maybe you did ovulate later?

Good luck and hope things settle down for you soon and your MIL manages ok. xx

hopefulgum · 14/12/2012 08:11

Hi greenlizard, like you I am expecting AF to turn up in the next few days ( I am 11 DPO).

Temperatures should remain above cover line when you are pregnant (because the progesterone raises our basal body temperature). Everyone is different, but I usually have it drop dramatically the day before AF. Mine hasn't dropped to that level yet, but if I was pregnant they would be higher than they are. I too have had a bfn today. I want to believe it isn't over, but I am sure it is.

And the mood I am in makes me think I must be pre-menstrual. I am feeling sorry for myself. I know I shouldn't expect too much at my age, however I am sick and tired of each month passing me by without a bfp, healthy pregnancy and baby. I know I have had three pregnancies in the last two years, but I've had three miscarriages too,and I am so tired of it. I was quite tearful this morning, remembering Alfie and Louis, wishing one of them could have gone to term and become part of my family. I was looking a t a blog and there was a gorgeous new baby on it. My DS (4 years old) said," I feel sad that we don't have a baby". Man, it was hard to hold back the tears thenSad I would love to give him a younger sibling.

At least I know I am in good company. I am not the only one hurting, we are all struggling to have a baby.

Irish, I wouldn't be surprised if you ovulated later, stress will definitely cause ovulation to be late. You must be going through a really difficult time. Here is a big soft Bear cuddle for you.

wow calibee congratulations! That's lovely pre-Christmas news, here's hoping for a smooth road ahead. I did smile at your opk/hpt mix-up, but I can see that's easily done. And you're pregnant anyway.

JBrd, thanks for the Clexane info, any luck in getting hold of it, it seems pretty important?

gum, sorry you are expecting AF and feeling so low, maybe Saturday will be better?

notsoold how are you feeling after your up and down couple of weeks?

irish, I hope things are returning to some day to day normality after your FIL's funeral, I know it'll take you all a long time to get used to him not being there. I am way overdue for a smear - about 3 years (i know, I know), but I like the post-smear conception theory, so will get sorted as soon as I can, though it'll probably be after Christmas now.

tina, how can you possibly be in your 2nd trimester already? It probably hasn't gone that fast for you, but it seems like about 2 weeks since you told us about your BFP!

I still have breast soreness, and I've been getting some cramping. I'm also really tired but I'm sure that's just down to not getting enough sleep which is entirely my fault. AF due Tuesday at the earliest. Though last month AF arrived just before midnight so I'm counting the Tuesday as cd1 not the Monday, do you think that's correct? I had resolved not to test til cd35 of any cycle but may test earlier if the soreness doesn't go away - it usually does though. It's the baby equipment I'd buy again - most of it came of ebay in the first place, but there are some lovely clothes I'd like to re-use and if we got rid of those, I'd probably mainly charity shop them, so it could prove expensive, though I could only re-use most stuff if I had another girl......
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and doesn't have to spend too much time braving the shops, I'm on nights, so no shopping and no weekend!
Love to all, SSx

CaliBee · 14/12/2012 18:24

Thankyou again ladies....it still hasnt sunk in. I'm still testing....just in case , but all positive. Oddly though my boobs are not as sore as in my recent pre-af cycles...should I be worried. I knew I would get paranoid.
Good luck to all those waiting to test.
Much love to all x

littlepink nice to see you back!

irish praying for you at this time...it must be hard.

sparkly have a nice weekend too!! Brave of you working nights and weekend!!!

hopeful you are at the right place to vent, we all need a place where we can acknowlege how difficult and hard this ttc path can be. To do it in RL is unfeasible to most of us, so vent away hun...

Calibee still so happy for you girlie!!!

I finally ordered CBFM and some sticks... it arrives today. I have to read all about it and together with the CM investigation (or checks), and dtd as often as we can (not very often I am afraid :)) I hope it will do the trick. I really thought about temping but then my paranoia would be too great!!! :)

DH goes around saying " my things are in full working order" and I get cross. Shouldn't really...they are as we conceived twice since march. But in my head (I am awful I know) I hear " I am old but it is ok ,you (me) are old and your body does not work as it should".... So I made DH cook last night !!!

And next time i get a BFP (I hope I will) I will share with you gals and with my dog (Tessy Welly), and nobody else, because my guilt in inflicting pain on DH and my mother adds to the stress... and because as I am rounder (ahem) nobody would notice anyway!!!
I am adding my DCs in my details...
