"Come on ovaries! Let's get this party started, yeah?"

OP posts:
JBrd · 23/11/2012 13:34

Ooooooh, ladies, ladies! I think I have just got a BFP!!!! Received my cheapie tests today, and just couldn't resist... And I got a line! A faint one, but definitively a line!

Isabeller · 23/11/2012 13:48

Wow JBrd congratulations!

Thank you Irish DP somewhat similar to donor, darker hair. I don't think it's as important to me and think he has arrived at yes under his own steam.

I'm feeling a bit stressed for other reasons but when I calm down I'll give myself time to panic properly (about the reality of treatment) Smile

Diege · 23/11/2012 13:53

Oh wow jBrd that's such exciting news Grin Thanks Thanks Thanks I had a feeling you could be pregnant Grin. How are you feeling? (stupid question Wink)
Calibee I def agree that being the one at home waiting for the call is far worse than being away (have been there from both sides). My sister's dh is in the army (currently in Afgan) and I remember her being quite similar to you on his precious weekends back. They would always ending up rowing and then regretting the rowing, until the next row...Grin. It is a stressful situation for you both, and really hope you feel a bit better and can enjoy the weekend x
Isabeller I don;t think the egg issue you describe would concern me all that much. I am very dark, as is dh, and my dcs are blonde, 2 of them white blonde. Other than the appearance issue, does everything else seem positive about the situation? I think I would jump at the chance in your situation but understand how it is a big step and a lot to consider.
Tina I agree with Gum, once dd sees your little twins she will indeed be smitten. Please try not to worry too much. Did you get a scan date in the end? Think I would hold off the private scan at this stage too x
Remnant, did you end up ringing back for more info'? If you;re finding it playing on your mind I think I would ring, otherwise still very good news.
Bistro theme tonight is 'Spanish' so I'm having lots of diffferent types of tapas - potatas bravas, those little chicken fritter things Grin, and frittata, served with a large jug of something spanish and alcoholic (??)
Love to all xxx

woollywomble · 23/11/2012 14:03

Congratulations JBird Flowers

remnant · 23/11/2012 14:48

Jbrd very exciting! Congratulations x

I got another 'low' this morning on cbfm (day 10) but saw some ewcm just now

Very confused

somewherebecomingrain · 23/11/2012 17:07

jbird - that's wonderful news!
good luck everybody else xxxx

hippychick66 · 23/11/2012 17:32

Sorry to see there has been upsets on this thread. As so many have said, TTc in your 40s is not for ther faint hearted. It is a crap journey, we constantly move the goal posts because it's either that or give up on our dreams. I do agree that it isn't really up to anyone else to say when another person should stop. i started trying for baby No 3 when i was 43 and i honestly HONESTLY thought i'd try it for a short while. i feel that I am at last off the TTc merry go round but only i could decide to do that - IYSWIM.

gum I send you my love, having known you for 3 years now i do hate to think of you feeling upset. this thread has always been a chance to dream and hope - i do think there is enough info on the internet about how crap older women's chances are already - we can all go and read that if we need a reality check.

Thinking of baby M, baby S, baby P, baby C, baby T and baby J to name but a few of the wonderful little babies born into our safe haven - the snug. X

hippychick66 · 23/11/2012 17:33

Nearly forgot to say JBird - was it you who thought your AF had started and then said it was only a teen tiny bit? I thought when i read that that you might be preggers. Good luck :-)

CaliBee · 23/11/2012 17:40

Wow...jbrd fantastic news. So happy for you xx

Irishmammybread · 23/11/2012 18:08

Congratulations JBrd, that's fantastic news! x

Irishmammybread · 23/11/2012 18:13

Diege we're actually having a Spanish theme in our house tonight, I'm just about to dish up paella !

JBrd · 23/11/2012 19:01

Thanks, ladies! I'm still stunned and it hasn't sunk in properly yet! Lots of things to think about, but for now I'll just try and get used to the idea Grin

hippy - yes, that was me! But I tested negative on Tuesday, so I thought it was just some odd occurrence. Never had any spotting in my first pregnancy.

mamaslatts · 23/11/2012 22:00

I'm only a few months off 40 and starting to TTC dc3. DC2 took 14 months to conceive (3 years ago) so might not be easy. Thought you guys would know the low down on testing and tips. Can I join your thread Smile

Or i can wait til i pass my milestone birthday vaary soon Grin

hopefulgum · 23/11/2012 22:24

Ooh,Jbrd, I just knew you'd get a BFP this time! I am so happy for you. This is very exciting. For Today You Are Pregnant!GrinSo pleased for you.Did you do anything differently this cycle ?(I always ask this question, just in case there is something that may have helped you conceive).

If you don't mind, I'll follow in your footsteps, my CBFM hasn't arrived yet,and by the time it does it will be too late to set it I think. So, I think it would be perfectly ironic if I didn't get to use it at all because I get a BFP next monthSmile

Calibee, I posted last night, but my bloody internet dropped out and I lost my long message...I wanted to send you a hug because I know how shit long distance relationships are and how stressful it is to be the one left behind. I can also see how much your DP loves you. I hope you have a wonderful time when you see him next.

Remnant, do you know around which day you ovulate? Do you usually have EWCM for a few days? I think at day 10 I would start SWI (sex with intent),and do it every second day til you get a high reading, then as often as possible Grin Though I still think doing it every second day is still going to get enough sperm into the fallopian tubes, awaiting your juicy egg.

Welcom mamaslatts, of course you can join in.You will be the youngster in the Snug!

Hippy, helloSmile So nice to see you.

Thanks Deige, Spanish sounds wonderful.

It is Saturday here, and today my mates are coming around to help me in the garden. Five lovely ladies are coming to help me pull weeds, plant flowers etc, then we'll have tea and Nigella's chocolate cloud cake and a nice long chat. Love itThanks

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 23/11/2012 22:25

Yay for Jbrd, what a great way to finish off the week, with Spanish food and a BFP!

CaliBee · 23/11/2012 22:40

Hug very greatfully excepted gum....thankyou.
Tonight I will mostly be eating chocolate and crisps and drinking wine....oh and watching a documentary on INX and reliving my teenage crush on Michael Hutchence.....
Big welcome to *mammaslatts...we alll in the same boat here, come on in :)

mamaslatts · 23/11/2012 22:48

Thanks, working my way through the thread - currently on page 10.
p.s. met someone who got pg at 49 - by accident!!! It can happen Wink

Irishmammybread · 23/11/2012 22:59

CaliBee ditto to the chocolate(minstrels) and crisps(smokey bacon) but we've been watching the Robbie Williams documentary on Sky!

Welcome mamaslatts !

gum I've not come across Nigella's recipie for chocolate cloud cake, it sounds delicious. I love her baked chocolate mousse cake, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, mmmmm.
I meant to ask you a few days ago(and by now several pages ago!) about the doctor prescribing you progesterone when you get a BFP.
Have you had blood tests that showed low progesterone in the past?
If there is a problem with low progesterone at what stage would miscarriage be likely to occur?
I've only had an AMH test and that was in May, I wonder if it would be a good idea to have my FSH and progesterone levels checked too.

How are you Miasmummy ?

CaliBee · 23/11/2012 23:12

Walkers Thai Sweet Chilli....a big effoff bag. Gallo Rose wine and Asdas cheapest chocolate...loool

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 23/11/2012 23:18

38 weeks now, and a walking beach ball here Blush. But not complaining. For the newbies - I am 42, and this baby was naturally conceived, with the help of Fertility Friend and a basal body thermometer, and the magical ingredient of a little red-headed girl wanting to give her mummy a very special present...

hopefulgum · 24/11/2012 00:36

OMG Miasmummy, you are so close to having your baby.SOOO excited for you.

Just found another reason to eat chocolate (not that we need itGrin);

And here is the cloud cake recipe. Better go and make it nowGrin

somewherebecomingrain · 24/11/2012 08:50

Mia so exciting! Good luck! What's your birth plan?

Gum yet again your life sounds amazing - gardening nigella cake Gorky chats. I have no garden at the mo.

Irish I'm so cooking paella soon - I did it once, an ottolenghi recipe and it was a huge undertaking but v nice.

Calibee crisps and telly of choice sounds marvellous too. yes that long distance stuff creates all sorts of stresses hope u feeling better.

Hugs to all xx

somewherebecomingrain · 24/11/2012 08:51
