Confused by all the TTC talk? OPKs? Taking your temperature?! Then this is the thread for you! We want babies the good old-fashioned way - through drunken, spontaneous shagging at any time of the month Grin. All you need is a man, Wine, ramekins and a batch of cheapo pregnancy sticks, and you're good to go! (Shag-capes and actual Sex optional)

The group is so successful that you can see the results for yourself in our graduates thread full of mamas who JSed their way to motherhood. Getting a BFP within a few weeks is known as "doing a kitten", and due to the secret and magical powers of the Just Shagging thread, this happens from time to time.

We have our own TTC language - EWCM is now known as "pant snot", AF is now "ERTD" (Evil red tide of DOOM!), OV is ovulation, and of course, JSing is Just Shagging!

Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

Old thread is here if you want proof it works!

Bad signal at the seaside but sone sun today! I met DH at university in a club so not very glam but knew it was real thing pretty soon. Been together since i was 19 and married for 7 years so 13 years now! Hope everyone is just shagging lots. Still no ERTD am def late now. With my sis and folks so can't rest whilst here. Home on Sunday will be 5-7 days late I think then. Fingers crossed.

tiredteddy · 19/05/2012 19:03

Meant Test!

bugoven · 19/05/2012 20:23

Hi JSers!!
I'm 28, OH is 26. TTC first child since November.
My OH is playing a wrestling game on his PS3 so have sneaked off to indulge in some MN time. We met through friends years and years ago, never really got to know each other but crossed paths every now and then. We both came out of long term (mine 8 his 4 years) relationships and found ourselves renting rooms in the same house. Then accidentally fell in love and decided to JS pretty much straight away.
baby I have had some symptoms that have worried me and spoke to a doctor about them last week. He took me seriously and said "if you're trying to have a baby we don't want you all worried" and referred me for an ultrasound. My appointment is 11th June and I'm a bit nervous but think it's the best way to out my mind at rest or find out if something is wrong. Either way a million times better than just worrying. Good luck!

Kittenkatzen · 19/05/2012 21:41

Wow, it looks like we could have two BFPs in one week, so exited for you both tired and bugsy! :o

Welcome bugoven, hope the ultrasound goes well on te 11th, well done you for getting to the docs with your symptoms.....I understand that there are time wasters out there but it's horrible when people with genuine concerns are made to feel bad about making an appointment.

something how was the baby show, did you get anything good? Or is it tomorrow?

Hope you're all enjoying your Saturday nights!

somethingwittynot · 19/05/2012 21:42

well had a succesful dinner part tonight! went to the chemis to buy conception vitamins i meant for me but DP got his and hers bless him Grin and hes taking folic acid to. JS will commence tonight and then baby show in the morning!

we have our housewarming next weekend a none of DPs family are coming. think thats a bit sad Sad

Kittenkatzen · 19/05/2012 21:53

Oops bugsy's on another thread, sorry Blush

topbannana · 20/05/2012 00:19

No JSing tonight, we have spent the day in manual labour and begun the obligatory JSing alcohol too early for any of that :o
On the other hand DH has agreed that I can go rock climbing when we are on holiday (working on the basis that I am most likely to get a BFP when DH has agreed that I can do something risky Hmm) Added to that we are going to eat starling pate and catch crayfish, what more could a girl ask for?! All I need now is for my passport to actually turn up Hmm

somethingwittynot · 20/05/2012 09:05

baby show is today! leaving soon so i make sure to get a goodybag!

mandasand · 20/05/2012 09:18

hey everyone! loads of news to catch up on! thanks woman and fraktal for weekend wishes :) hope you are having good ones!

Spent five hours teaching yesterday and came home and went straight to bed, utterly knackered! But it was fun - a revision tutorial at the end of a ten months course. Today I've got 18 assignments to mark (in reality it will be good if I get through 10) but I'm going to fit in a trip to the garden centre for some plants for the hanging baskets as a treat.

DH has gone up north to see his family and mates. On Friday night we fit in another hilarious 'we have got to shag cos I think I'm ovulating!' while waiting for a takeaway to be delivered :-) DH went to get us a couple of beers/ciders from the shop which meant I had to get up and answer the door rather than lying down with my legs in the air so I'm not sure how successful that bit of JSing will be! (Is that really necessary? I've read all sorts of techniques for encouraging the little swimmers along...!)

Met DH on a train, both heading south after a long bank holiday weekend with our families. I was a bit of an emotional wreck - brother was in hospital with serious mystery illness - and the moment I walked in the carriage I knew I had to sit next to that man a few seats down on the right. (I could only see the back of his head!) I tried three times to talk to him but he was a bit uninterested so I left it, cursing my stupidity. Then he started talking to me, and the rest, as they say, is history! like dysgu after a couple of months I buggered off to another continent for 10 months (for work) but he was amazing: we skyped three times a day and spent a week together every six weeks. I came back August 2010 and we got married last summer. Can't hang around when you're our age!

Glad the pains have stopped babylann! You had us worried there! If you're anxious about going to the docs you could always try NHSDirect. In the past I've found them great for alleviating worries, esp in the middle of the night when things always seem worse. But recently I phoned them to ask advice about tetanus when DH drilled through his finger (ouch!) and there was a recorded message saying the wait was ages and if it wasn't urgent they would cut callers off! (bloody cuts, grumble grumble...) I go to the docs every few months, but I always have a list of about six small things. Doc says she doesn't mind my level of anxiety ... but she would start to get worried if I was there every week.

Hope the ultrasound goes well, bugoven. Really good the docs are on the ball.

babylann · 20/05/2012 11:25

I will go to the docs I think, thanks for the support everyone :) I have struggled with a very unsympathetic gp for a while, but having moved house we should have a new doctor, hopefully the grass is greener! I don't get it really, before DD my periods were perfect, 35 day cycle, no ov pains, relatively painful but not worrying ertd. Now, it's just all over the place, sometimes 30 days, a couple of times 90+ days, and a random collection of cycles in between! Regular painful ov symptoms, 2 v light days of spotting instead of real periods... It is driving me crazy.

Mum says it happened to her between me and my brother being born, so I'm secretly hoping another baby will fix that too!

Splinters · 20/05/2012 11:32

Ha, this is the first time I've ever been active (serial lurker alert) on a thread that moves so fast! Will have to quit work and spend all my time here instead.

ERTD for me, though after two weeks with no period, no pg symptoms and three bfns I'm happy enough for another cycle to be starting at least. I've posted on another thread about how I stupidly messed around with my pill while I was abroad for work without dh for the fist three months of this year, and am now convinced that I've condemned myself to a lifetime with no regular cycle and no babies. Bah.

Splinters · 20/05/2012 11:34

Ooh and babylann, hope it does go well for you at the doc's. How old is your dd now?

Fraktal · 20/05/2012 11:53

I love all these DH meeting stories! Next question?!

splinters tsk tsk you must learn to MN at work. Or whilst WFH, which is why I love the amount of time I am supposed to spend curriculum writing and searching. Cos MN is research. Sort of Hmm

Good for you babylann. I hope your new doc is much more sympathetic.

So DS has new shoes, we went for a family haircut so my hair is nearer my shoulders than my bum again and we went swimming this morning but I refused to go in the big pool because I didn't want to get my hair wet.

Cinema tonight Grin

Does anyone else keep finding times when it would be really inconvenient to be upduffed? We have about a dozen friends descending at the end of July and I want to be able to drink! But I don't want to put off JSing.

Splinters · 20/05/2012 12:13

Fraktal I MNFH WFH most of the time, but unfortunately have various things that actually have to be done.. And there is no sense at all in which I can claim that MN is relevant to my work. It ain't.

Due to the nature of my work it would also be moderately to very incovenient to be pregnant ever, but I have decided I don't care. I've finally reached a stage where I would prefer my career to take a knock in favour of family life than the other way round (anyone I knew during as an undergrad would be astonished to hear this considering how regularly I could be heard mouthing off to the contrary only a few years ago!) but there you are. My dh's parents are in very good health but aware that they are getting on a bit, and we would like our children to know their grandparents. So we have decided to Just Get On With It, in a very casual and unconcerned JS way, and not get at all obsessed or consult any ttc-related resources in any way!

mandasand · 20/05/2012 13:10

I hear you re inconvenience of family life on career, splinters and also about the importance of grandparents being around (we lost one parent last year, which has spurred us on a bit). Women in my line of work often suffer because of it, and although I'd like the luxury of waiting a few more years till I get a permanent position (rather than, e.g., three-year contracts), I'm getting on a bit and will just have to take the risk ... I was talking with a friend yesterday who is in similar job and also TTC and we admitted that with every month that goes by when we're not pregnant we both feel a little bit of relief that we have another month in which to Get Things Done!

flyingsprocket · 20/05/2012 13:15

Wowser I can't believe we're on another thread already! Did we even get one grad from part 8???

OH has been "poorly" recently, bad timing with the end of ERTD but when I get home tomorrow the JSing shall resume.

Loved everyone's meeting stories especially yours mandasand so sweet! We met at work and kinda kept in touch for about 4 years until I eventually asked him out for a drink. And now 3 years later I've left my homeland, moved to the UK & we're ttc yay!

tired hoping for a BFP for you soon x

flyingsprocket · 20/05/2012 13:18

Doh stupid phone lost my post Angry

It said that I am approaching geriatric ness too at 33 and ttc no 1

mandasand love the train story- so sweet

Can't believe we're on part 9- must get a BFP or 3 from this thread

And then I went on to tell the story of how OH & I met but can't be bothered to phone type it all out again Grin

babylann · 20/05/2012 14:04

With the speed the thread is progressing I don't know if we'll even have time to get to the end of the 2ww! This is moving very quickly... And to think a few threads back there were only like 3-4 people posting, and only 2 of those with any regularity or intention to JS!

mandasand · 20/05/2012 14:47

thanks flying! after years of unsuitable liaisons and crap relationships it's so nice to have had such luck! nice to hear your work friendship blossomed into love! it's always nice to hear people's 'how we met' stories :)

I know, babylann, I can barely keep up! so much JSing going on we must surely have some good news from someone soon! can't wait for some BFPs to spur us all on ...

have just been for a jog-shuffle along the river. feeling very virtuous.

somethingwittynot · 20/05/2012 15:24

so the baby show was pretty crap tiny for being in such a big venue. got DS some stuff and had a lovely chat at the midwife stand and they were encouraging me to have another one! she was also impressed i did 17 hours on the drip with just gas and said i should be able to manage a pain relief free vbac if i can have vbac Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 20/05/2012 15:36

Flying Just looking through the last thread from 27th March-18th May;
5 BFP (2 doing a kitten..the cahs!).

We'll beat that this thread, we've got loads of bank holidays coming up Grin

mandasand · 20/05/2012 16:14

woman, what's 'doing a kitten'? haven't figured that one out yet!

topbannana · 20/05/2012 17:00

Have just cycled MILES with DS while DH waited to pick us up in the car- a true gentleman! (In fairness we live with a busy A road at our main gate and an unmade road at the other. The unmade road we can cycle down to the village but cycling up is a no-no so DH comes to our aid :))

Found out yesterday that I could be in line to be made redundant which is aggravating, but when we discussed it, we could really do with me going full time again if we ever want to do anything other than scrape by. Could be the kick up the backside we needed really (also along with my planned climbing expedition, I guess a return to full time work is an almost sure-fire way to bring on a BFP after the last few months of unproductive leisure timeHmm)

Added to this I am on day 25 of what is normally around 33-35 days and my breasts are aching like billy-o Confused If ERTD comes early then my carefully calculated dates will all go to rat shit! Angry

tiredteddy · 20/05/2012 17:14

WOMAN who was it that got BFP's? And where did they go?

Kittenkatzen · 20/05/2012 18:58

I'd also like to know what 'doing a kitten is if anyone knows?

fraktal ikwym about finding things that would make a BFP slightly inconvenient - for one I'm going to V Fetival in August....a BFP would put paid to my plans to be up front for the headliners!

Lovely meeting stories from everyone, especially mandasands train story!

I think I may have spotted a few ov signs yesterday/today so will be spending this evening mostly trying to seduce DH into a JS-athon! :o
