Confused by all the TTC talk? OPKs? Taking your temperature?! Then this is the thread for you! We want babies the good old-fashioned way - through drunken, spontaneous shagging at any time of the month Grin. All you need is a man, Wine, ramekins and a batch of cheapo pregnancy sticks, and you're good to go! (Shag-capes and actual Sex optional)

The group is so successful that you can see the results for yourself in our graduates thread full of mamas who JSed their way to motherhood. Getting a BFP within a few weeks is known as "doing a kitten", and due to the secret and magical powers of the Just Shagging thread, this happens from time to time.

We have our own TTC language - EWCM is now known as "pant snot", AF is now "ERTD" (Evil red tide of DOOM!), OV is ovulation, and of course, JSing is Just Shagging!

Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

Old thread is here if you want proof it works!

Hi us4 & MissMB

South, sorry you've got a headache!
I only tested last time because I was going wine tasting with a mate. Blardy DS! Still need to rebook our tasting!

tired have a great sun soaked weekend!

A friend of mine has just decided to ttc1, and asked me about folic acid, is anyone taking it atm?
I might start now, have a leftover box from last pg.

How much weight do you all put on when ERTD is here?
I'm normally up a dress size & around 6-8lbs heavier...feel like I've gone on a diet everytime it's over & I can fit into my clothes again!

somethingwittynot · 18/05/2012 11:16

me and my DP are taking folic acid as i read somewhere its good for them to take it to. ive heard some people take b6 but thats to complicated for me. this cycle i am going to be taking conception vitamins though

Fraktal · 18/05/2012 11:25

I keep doing this...popping on at the start of a thread then disappearing. It's about the 3rd thread now. We do shag more than I post on here!

Will be back later once DS actually decides to sleep! He's so tired but fighting it.

mandasand · 18/05/2012 11:26

Hello everyone, and especially to the new recruits to the JSing cause! :)

I've stopped taking my regular multivitamins and have started taking the Pregnacare conception supplements on the advice of my doctor. They have the folic acid but they also don't have the B vitamin which you're supposed to be careful with. It's pretty pricey in boots (around a tenner, I think, for a month's supply) but my local pharmacy sells it for half the price. As I'm a veggie who avoids milk (tho I eat cheese and eggs) I thought it might even be more important to make sure I get all the nutrients I need.

I think I'm ovulating so husband will get lucky the moment he walks in the door tonight ... (mind you I thought I was ovulating the other day - I'm still a novice at spotting the signs!)

Pinkie29 · 18/05/2012 11:41

I take:

Folic Acid 400mg
Vitamin B6 50mg
Evening PO 3000mg
Vitex 2000mg

Do says i rattle!!

Kittenkatzen · 18/05/2012 11:57

I just started taking the pregnacare conception vitamins this morning....that's interesting about your OH taking folic acid too, I've not heard of that. I did think about getting DH some of the male conception vits you can get, but decided against it in the interest of maintaining DH's chilled out approach to TTC :)

I take calcium/vit d tablets because I don't get enough sun (pale & avoid it).
south Envy at your decent diet...I don't enjoy eating (most days, I love cooking though!) so have a real struggle eating 'normally' during pg!

Pinkie, is the Evening PO pg related?

baby, just seen your post (I thought the green posts were me for a bit!), I'd second going to GP just to make sure everything is alright!

What's everyone upto this weekend?

babylann · 18/05/2012 13:54

Also taking folic acid and multi vitamins here.

No definite plans for the weekend which makes a refreshing change from the past few weekend where we haven't stopped at all :) Hopefully we will have good weather as I fancy some gardening.

Still got pains, feels like a mixture between ov, period pains and labour Hmm

not exactly looking forward to my weekend - a full day teaching tomorrow and then the evening and a full sunday of marking 40 assignments! so not fun! DH is heading north first thing tomorrow to hang out with his mates instead though I wish he'd stay and cement in the new fence or dig over the rest of the allotment while i slave away!

! I have one and a half jobs so I have to work through at least one weekend every month but can't exactly complain as I feel lucky to be working at all after ten months without a job a year or two back.

lollypopsicle · 18/05/2012 15:09

I take folic acid as I've read that it is crucial in very early pregnancy ( neural tube defects and all that) and it can often be too late by the time you find out you are pregnant.

Horse after having DS I now suffer badly with bloating pre ERTD and can't wear any of my trousers! Makes me feel enormous.

Well my boobs hurt. Of course I'm convinced I'm preggo (again!) Grin

somethingwittynot · 18/05/2012 15:50

ok im gunna be the bad mum here but i never took folic acid with DS because whenever i took it, it made me throw up! but hes perfectly fine.

im having my parents, my brother and his GF over for dinner tomorrow night and then off to the kent todler and baby show on sunday! Grin

Splinters · 18/05/2012 16:04

Can I join you? I've already hijacked someone else's thread to moan about how I'm 12 dys late with 3 bfns (and I really thought I had ov'd due to presence of requisite snot around cd15). Anyone like to tell me what's going on?

Ooh, and vizzini, any news?

entropygirl · 18/05/2012 16:12

ohhh I wish I had know about you lot! I could have upped your done a kitten by 2.

Vizzini · 18/05/2012 16:27

Hello. Back in from a very busy day doing Y6 SATs! No news for those who asked. No ERTD but I'm refusing to test now, I'm sick of it! Today I'm four days late. I keep thinking I've started and running to the loo, but not a trace! I have no real signs of either pregnancy or ERTD.
My plan is to wait to see if I get to two weeks late and testing. If still BFN I'll go to the docs to see what's up. I'm not sure what else I can do. It's stupid; I was hoping ERTD would stay away but now I know I'm not preg I wish it'd get a move on.
How is everyone else?

MissMarjoribanks · 18/05/2012 16:59

Hello all thanks for the welcome.

I'm taking folic acid but nothing else because I am paranoid about neural tube defects.

My BF told me today she was going to start TTC after her holiday (ie in a few weeks) so we could end up with concurrent mat leaves. That would make it all a bit more bearable.

I'm off to the opera this weekend with my mum. I have to leave the house at 7.30am tomorrow morning to get there (other end of the country). I feel exhausted just thinking about it. DS staying at home with his dad and will be thoroughly spoilt.

No doubt DH will be nagging me for some activity tonight. He knows I'm mid cycle!

Pinkie29 · 18/05/2012 17:23

horse the epo helps produce more and better quality pant snot and is great for pmt, I've only been taking it just under two weeks but think its helping already feel a lot more chilled about ttc as I lost the plot during the 2ww! Says it could take a few months to build up the extra pant snot tho Grin

You should only take it till you ov tho as it can cause tiny contractions in your womb which could hinder implantation

AWomanCalledHorse · 18/05/2012 17:41

baby, hope the weather holds out & you're feeling better.

mandasand, may your weekend fly by quickly!
Vizzini, good luck for BFP or ERTD soon..Limbo is rubbish.
lolly, hope the boob ache is a good thing.

something, I went to the Manchester baby show & was annoyed how crap it was, hope the Kent one is better!! You looking for something or just having a nose about?

Splinters, welcome! I have no idea what your body is doing, my ERTD was 2weeks late last month, are you normally regular?

MissMB, have a great night at the Opera...you should drag your BF onto this thread, JS good wishes to her ttc too!

Pinkie thanks for explaining about the epo, think I'll avoid until I know when I ov.

We're not up to much, got a parcel coming tomorrow (probably) so sitting in for that, yay!
Hope everyone has a wonderfully shag filled evening/weekend....DS has been asleep since 4pm (bedtime is 7) so I think we'll have to give it a miss...

Dysgu · 18/05/2012 18:08

Just caught up with the new thread - actually, just typed out a post but lost it!

The evo sounds interesting but would not work for me as I have no idea when I OV each month. I do not have any pains mid-cycle (ERTD is usually something of a non-event too!) and this was the first month that I paid enough attention to know what pant snot was (and noticed it!)

I do take folic acid (almost every day) as I did do with both DDs - I think it might be more important this time, what with me being well over the hill. Interesting to see that it might be worth DP taking it too - although not sure he would be up for it as he tends to put nothing in his body other than a healthy diet!

Our weekend is looking quite calm - hopefully a lack of sick (from DDs) will mean we can get some JSing done!

Fraktal · 18/05/2012 19:41

I take my santogen pregnancy tablets that I?ve been taking since v eraly pregnancy with DS, which also support you through BFing (otherwise my body would be knackered and deficient in all sorts of things) and also act as preconception. I should probably buy shares in them or something.

mandasand get that shag cape on!

awoman I don?t enjoy eating either, but also love cooking. DH says I?m very odd but now I have empirical proof that I?m not because there?s at least one more of me out there! This weekend we?re returning a passport to a friend, possibly going swilling, going shoe shopping for DS as he?s destroyed his current pair and I?m not sure what else. Should probably have more of an exciting plan.

something I love the sound of the baby show. Having just caught up on the last thread I?m so sorry about ERTD and the tricksy pee sticks :( Chemical pregnancies are very common, not that it makes you feel any better, and they usually do have a reason like a duff egg or your body not being ready. Fun factoid ? recent research shows that even in healthy women who have never given birth the lining of the womb only grows sufficiently to support a pregnancy about 75% of the time.

babylann that sounds very ouchy. Maybe a visit to the doc would help? And I don?t think you?re paranoid for wondering about an ectopic if you?re fairly sure when you OVd. Do you have any shoulder pain? If so go see a doctor ASAP, just to be sure.

nelly hang around! val still counts as a JSer despite her DS being more of a JSMEIATT (jut sperm meeting egg in a test tube) than a JS baby.

Hello foxy ? Got to say I?m laughing at all the geriatric comments. You can?t really win with childbearing. I spent most of this week trying to dissuade students MWs from calling pregnant under teens ?underage mothers?! Where?s the eye rolling smiley when you need one?!

Hi to us4 too and MissMajoribanks (fab name) and splinters. MissM that?s true JSing style, and how this thread actually originated waybackwhen

Vizzini fingers crossed for you! If you don?t want to test then don?t. Denial of pregnancy (but naturally acting like you really are pregnant) is totally the way to go. Lots of luck to you too lolly with the hurty boobs.

pinkie the idea of more pant snot is?.interesting. I have a hard enough time not squicking out of the limited amount I produce. Or it may just be icky sticky man stuff.

dysgu may your JS exploits be fruitful (and may your DDs remain healthy)!

Right I should probably go jump DH or something!
