The BESH Republic Of Rulvakia

Welcome to The BESH Republic Of Rulvakia. The national drink is of course gin, state funded to get you into a state. We have many traditions and customs, such as sechsing, swearing for the fun of it (optional) and urinating on little white sticks.
Enemy of the state is Droid, who must be heckled heartily should it put in an appearance. There is an ongoing lottery to win a baybee, being granted citizenship of The Republic is your ticket to the lottery.

As a democracy all members are entitled to put forward any customs or rules they would like and we can all adopt important but silly titles if we like. See the George Carlin sketch about hats and religion and make your own mind up about whether you would like a ceremonial hat to accompany whichever title/role you bestow upon yourself.

Newcomers should find and complete the BESHtionnaire so we can make sure you are cynical and non-fluffy enough to be granted Citizenship.

Relax rollo. What you have packed sounds good. I would always also take at least one dress, but SB is a massive fan of lemons in dresses, so... Also think about shoes. Do you want to run/hike/look fabulous in heels? If so you might need a spare pair or two. I get blisters really easily, so I tend to take an extra pair. As to pee-stick, I wouldn't. As I don't think I want to test at somebody else's house and also I would not want it tempting me in the bottom of my bag. But that is just me.

Enjoy your trip!!

eurochick · 28/05/2012 10:24

Morning ladies.

Try not to be too liberal with the factor 50. Remember vit D has a role to play in fertility so don't block all the sunlight out! I tend not to burn in British sun (as long as I don't do anything daft like lay out for 12 hrs straight) so I have been getting my daily dose.

I'm glad you got back on your bike *lemons". Did you manage to find a quietish bit of seaside or was it completely mobbed?

Cavey that sounds like a very good friend.

sinking and norfy fingers crossed for your cycles and lack of fat ladies singing. I think you made the right decision not to run at midday yesterday, sinking!

Where are you off to queenie? If it's really hot where you are going you might want 2 tops per day - one for beach/sightseeing and one for the evening (or one top over 2 evenings maybe as you will only be wearing them for a short time and it'll be cooler then).

Well Droid arrived this morning so I am on to cycle 20 now. I knew it was coming cos my temps had been dropping. I quite like the fact that with temping I get a couple of days to get used to the idea before the metal fvker actually arrives. So I'm not feeling too bad. I need to call the IVF clinic today to make sure they are ok for us to start on day 21. I'm feeling better about it than I was in March when the big bag of drugs arrived and I had my meltdown. But this wasn't how it was supposed to be.

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 10:26

I have packed a nice dress in case we decide to eat in a posh restaurant. I've got proper walking sandals for daily wear as we're mostly just wandering around the city doing touristy things, or will be spending time with my papa. I do however need some 'other' shoes and this is causing problems. I don't own anything suitable really, and I hate shoe shopping with a passion. I cannot walk in anything with a heel, not even wedges and trying to find something stylish but flat is proving a challenge. hmmm.....and I have DS with me a few extra days, he will not take kindly to being dragged round shoe shops...
On reflection I am going to leave pee-stick at home.

So sorry about the droidal invasion euro. It is not how it is supposed to be, I totally agree. Well done on being in a better frame of mind for IVF now, though. And will be keeping everything crossed for you.

Agree on the vitamine D front, but I am a ridiculously pale, so tend to try to avoid burning at all costs. (My parents tell me I used to get blisters on my nose where it poked out from under a sun hat, even though they had lathered me with sun screen).

The cycle ride was lovely and quiet, the seaside jam packed. But there was the sea. And I paddled a little which cooled me down wonderfully. So that was good.

Queenie I would opt for something you can walk in rather than too stylish. I never wear hears, I have about three pairs of high heeled shoes. And much to SB's disappointment they never come on holiday with us, they come out for important worky things and weddings only. So smart-ish on hols with me means nice ballerinas. Is that an option?

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 10:41

I have stupid feet which means I get crampy toes within 10 mins of wearing ballerinas. The soles are too flat. This is why I have unstylish walking sandals as even my Birkenstocks didnt offer the right support in the footbed Sad

euro i'm off to Barcelona. Gives for mid twenties first few days and then low twenties/high teens the latter part. I'm one of those people who really likes hot weather (high twenties all year round would suit me).
I saw a nice top in M&S at the weekend so may go back for that and buy a couple of plain vests while I'm there.
I detest clothes shopping.

OP posts:
HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 13:15

I have flat feet so I can't wear ballet pumps either. I'd say go for a 'capsule' wardrobe - lots of separates that go with other things. I'd usually take pretty much what you are - swim wear, Cropped trousers, shorts, various vests and t-shirts, shirts to cover up with, nice tops and skirts for evenings and a couple of dressed. I bought a pair of white wedge mules 6 years ago!! for a holiday with my sister which I wear virtually every night on holiday. So comfy but give me a bit of height. Sounds luffly queenie I'm a bit Envy but I do have a 5 day weekend coming up and hopefully I'll be home for it!!
Sorry to hear of droid's arrival euro :( You definitely seem in a better place emotionally so it seems it was worth having these couple of months before proceeding. No it wasn't meant to be this way but that doesn't mean it's wrong...

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 14:30

I am so tired from a combo of pain killers and the heat. I'm killing time til a meeting at 3. Wibu to snooze on the desk?!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 16:45

Oh help, I was just asked at the end of a meeting if I am diffed. Apparently 'someone told her that'. Which I presume means someone knows I was on the gynae ward and has put two and two together and made baybee! She works at another site in the trust so God knows how many people have heard this rumour, maybe even my boss!!!. What's more embarrassing than asking someone if they're diffed when they're not? Being the person being asked. What's the most mortifying thing ever? Being asked if you're diffed when you're not and desperately want to be :( Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

queenrollo · 28/05/2012 17:06

oh faith that sort of thing would really piss me off and actually given how much confidentiality is a part of what you do I'd be quite indignant at this being spread around.
My Auntie didn't even tell my Uncle that she saw me on a regular basis because it would divulge that I was a patient at the practice she worked at, even though she knew I wasn't bothered she took the confidentialty issue very seriously.

OP posts:
HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 17:10

Yes I am pretty pissed off! How many people know?! She refused to tell me who told her. It was common knowledge that I was on hospital but I did tell people I was a surgical outlier. Actually the more I think about it, the more pissed off I am!

:( bugs. Have a rather unMNetty/BESH like That's just.... :(

Yes to the positive vibes for sinky and the ivf appointment. It does sound like a long way off but it'll roll round before you know it.

I iz super tired. Suspect blame lies with pain/poor sleep/impending droid. Dinner then early to bed to watch Hart of Dixie. My new fave :)

sinkingflameofhilarity · 28/05/2012 19:05

Active on here today!

Have a luffy holiday queen- v jealous, Barcelona is one city I'd love to visit but just never seem to have got round to it. Don't take the pee stick. There lies madness.

Bad times bugs. Hope you're getting all the tlc you need and can try and not dwell on maybes and should haves.

Faife, at times like these I almost think bursting into hysterical tears might be useful, mainly to make the fool feel really bad about being a damn fool. I mean really. Even if you were pregnant, you'd bloody well tell people if you want them to know. It really gets my hackles up. One of my friends, thanks to a slightly indiscreet husband and the hospital grapevine got outed at approx 8 weeks. She then miscarried at about 12. Horrible horrible. Why don't people realise nothing good can come of trying to guess a maybe pregnancy?

Euro, when does the ivf start? How long did it take you to get from first clinic to here? I'm just wondering how long it will take me to get any treatment, and I'm moving clinics (my current one doesn't do ivf etc) so wondering how many tests they'll want to repeat. Mmm. Not had a fanjocam in a while... Something to look forward to Hmm

lemony, have I missed what you're up to? Apart from sunny bike rides Grin

Have I missed anyone? I can't cope with busy threads!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 28/05/2012 19:32

Yes indeed, that's what I thought Flamey. Super tactless. Course I went Blush which has probably left her thinking I am diffed but too early on to say Hmm. I have made light of it on t'other place.

Difficult to say how long it might take isn't it flamey. They might be quite prompt but it could be about waiting lists? Hmm could you ring and ask?

sinkingflameofhilarity · 28/05/2012 20:00

Yes. Now you be noticing (or think you're noticing) everyone craining their necks to check out if you've got a bump.

I'm still fuming for you! Not that things are great for any of us BESHes, but imagine if you had something really wrong, iykwim. Lots of bad things can cause admissions.

People! Tsch.

As for ivf stuff my end, I've just booked my appt via C&B. Not had the pleasure of that from this side before. Not to bad actually, but don't know who I'm seeing yet- I think that'll come with the letter confirming my appt. Don't think I'll ring though, it's not like it'll speed anything up if theyre set on repeating stuff themselves, and I'll only stress if they say there's lots of stuff to redo! Just more interested so I can obsess a bit more about what time of year I might have a baybee

CaveMum · 28/05/2012 20:33

Evening all.

Boo to insensitive colleagues Faithy. They ought to bring back the stocks!

I called the clinic today, still no cancellations. [sulks]

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 28/05/2012 20:38

Just a quick pop in to say BOO to no cancellations, cave.

And to update my details, since you were asking: 11dpiui. Official test day on Friday, but droidal invasion expected on Thursday afternoon...

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 28/05/2012 20:39

Oh and Shock at those gossipy colleagues of faith. It is not on!! So sorry.

sinkingflameofhilarity · 28/05/2012 20:46

Heh. Just thinking, if we did those lists threat other freds do, you know, Binty. 26, 2nd cycle TTC #2...

Sinky, old. 370th cycle. Indeterminant wait for clinic.

ShredniVashtar · 28/05/2012 20:56

Massive boo to droids, insensitive colleagues and bad milestones. They can all just feck the feck off! I have a sad anniversary too - this time last year was the cycle that I first got diffed. Am on day 21 so hoping that this cycle might be a winner

Had day 21 bloods taken today so am trying not to google obsessively to preempt diagnosis etc. Must step away from Dr Google.

Have a luffly time in Barcelona, rollo! Have just had tapas for dinner, caused by reading about your trip earlier. Yum!

I feel your pain. I use the term "cycle" very loosely.

ShredniVashtar · 28/05/2012 21:35

Here's the brief version: trying since December 2010. Got diffed last May, mmc at 8 weeks. Then nada until November, diffed again, then ectopic diagnosed mid December. GP won't refer me for another 6 months - apparently an ectopic resets the clock - despite the fact that I ONLY HAVE ONE TUBE! Grrrrr. DH's swimmers are fine, my womble and ovaries are apparently vey pretty, so next is to check hormone levels, hence the day 21 test.

Stats:
Shred, 31, ttc%231 18 months. Bitter.
